SD-Mimi: [pokes her head into view] Ano, are we back now?

Yamato: [walks into the open and pulls Mimi along] Yeah, that was one long hiatus.

Mimi: [nods] I don't remember what happened last.

Yamato: [glares at her] Just go back and watch the last episode! I'm not here to recap anything! [stomps off angrily]

SD-Mimi: [looks up to the sky] I'm so confuuuuuused...

MAGICAL GIRL MIMI

written by Kurosu

Episode Eleven: The Roppongi Affair

"Recently, Tokyo is a hot spot for monster attacks! What are these things, and what do they want?!"

A scene of Palette Town appeared, where Monzaemon was destroying everything in sight with his giant hearts (from last episode). Another clip shows Ninjamon as he lept from building to building and battles against Lone Wolf with the Fuji TV building in the background (from episode 7).

"And who are these mysterious heroes, saving our fair city from the monsters?"

A closeup of Mimi in Lillymon's outfit and then of Lone Wolf... then back to Mimi with several shots of her in her other cute outfits, as if she was posing for the camera.

"Fairy Princess is SOOOOOOOOOO cute!

"Everyone is dying to know their identities! If you have any information, please contact..."

The reporter's voice faded away in the background as Lillymon's giant sweatdrop weighed her head down. "When did they get those closeup shots of you, Mimi?" she asked.

The young girl was looking elsewhere, on the streets of Tokyo, just outside an electronics shop. The televisions in the store window were still showing the news, mainly with the Guardian Tamers and digimon attacks as their biggest news yet. "Hmm, let's see," she pondered, "Should we get anything to bring to Yama-chan's place?"

Lillymon, hiding in Mimi's hair, sighed, "Considering this introduction was short, we still have time."

"Great! We can stock up on snacks, and it'll be like a party!" she giggled. "Too bad Tai-chan and Sora-chan and Kou-chan couldn't make it."

Her friends unfortunately (depending on perspective) could not make it to their meeting that day. Sora was spending the weekend with her father, who lived in Kyoto after the divorce, while Koushiro had a computer seminar to attend, at such a young age. And Taichi, well...

Taichi's gloomy face was glued to a car window as he helplessly stared out of the moving vehicle. His parents were in the front seats, oblivious to their son's feelings, jammin' with the music. He breathed on the window to fog it up and then wrote, 'HELP ME!'

And the car drove away, for a family weekend trip, towards the morning sun.

Meanwhile, Yamato was sitting on the couch in the apartment, fidgeting like a nervous wreck. His arms were crossed, and this deep frown decorated his face. "DAD!" he yelled, "Aren't you leaving yet?!" He was praying that his father would leave before Mimi arrived. Having the two meet again would be a disaster! The first time, his father kept pestering him about his 'girlfriend'.

The man paused in the middle of putting on his shoes and raised an eyebrow at his impatient son. "What's the rush? It's not like I'm late today."

His face turned red as he tried to come up with some plausible excuse, "Erm, well... I... I have to clean the whole apartment, and I can't do that if you're still here!"

His father rolled his eyes and put on his shoes in the foyer, "You've got the whole weekend, Yamato." With his briefcase and overnight bag in hand, he looked back at his son, who turned on the television as a diversion, "If anything happens, just call me. I spoke to your mom too, and she's there if you need her."

He opened the door and paused again, "You know you can always stay with her." Yamato only grunted in response, keeping his eyes on the mindless entertainment. His father sighed and departed. After the door closed and the footsteps faded away, the blonde let out a sigh of relief and wondered if Mimi would be on time.

He concluded with another long sigh, "I somehow doubt that..."

Several hours later, the television was running some talk show with a male and female host in the giant sumo costumes circling each other, as if they were unsure of their sanity. The volume was low, playing the audience's laughter in the background. It was being drowned out by the viewer's obliviousness and snoring.

Yamato's head had fallen back against the couch as he dozed away in the afternoon hour. Shaded by the sunlight, he slept peacefully, not even the light peeking through the blinds bothered him. His calming form made everything seem all right in the world. No one could tell there was even an imminent war happening in the city.

Nothing could disturb this tranquil scene... Nothing at all...

BUUUURIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGG!

... came the doorbell, as if it was cranked up a hundred times the normal decibel to Yamato, who jumped into the air and almost transformed into Lone Wolf.

After realizing it was the front door, he recomposed himself and straggled his way towards the origin of the sound. He was still a little disoriented, running his left hand through his hair, as he opened the door. He was slightly surprised to see a smiling Mimi holding up two white, plastic bags, and Lillymon was hovering over her with a giant lollipop.

When the initial shock wore out in three seconds, he snapped. One hand plucked Lillymon from the air, and the other grabbed Mimi.

All three were quickly muted by the closed door.

Across the hall, another door opened, and an old woman exited with cane and purse in hand. She glanced at the Ishidas' door and leaned somewhat towards it to listen, barely making out a squeal and some irritated shouts. She shrugged and went on her way.

Inside the Ishida home, Mimi was sitting on the couch, still clutching the two bags, while blinking confusingly at the young boy in front of her. On the other extreme, Lillymon was fuming at Yamato because her lollipop was a now one-third of what she had before. The rest were broken pieces on the floor. (If one looked closer, Lillymon's eyes were slightly wet at the edges.)

"That was SOOOOO RUDE, Ishida!" the fairy shouted.

"Umm," came Mimi's quiet voice.

"THAT was rude?!" he huffed back, "You guys were two hours late AND you were in the open! What if someone saw you!"

"Umm..."

"NO ONE DID! We made sure of it!"

Before either could say another word, two juice boxes of cherry intervene their argument. They turn to the source, and Mimi just smiled, "Let's eat a bit before work!"

Yamato started, "Did she..."

"...say 'work'?" Lillymon finished.

The alarm went off as loudly as possible and continued for the next two minutes until a fist smashed the Agumon-shaped alarm clock. The hand retracted back under the covers, and some weary moans came from beneath it too, but all his verbal dislike for leaving the warmth of the bed to begin the new day was promptly interrupted by the double doors to the room being blasted off the hinges.

"What the-"

The covers flew off the DigiEmperor, and he sat up... to stare at Puppetmon walking into the room, with the newspaper in his hands. He picked out the most interesting parts of the news, like the girl who could eat thirteen bowls of udon or the man who was hit by a truck and survived or the dog that was abducted by a posse of clowns... or the horoscope section.

"Listen to this," the short digimon started excitedly, which earned a groan from the DigiEmperor, "Today is a good day to be outdoors, even if you're not one to play outside. Take a chance and play in the sunshine..."

The bad mood the emperor was in got worse, because he wasn't an indoor person by choice. He would much love to frolic and play in the sun, falling back into the grassy meadows and giggle like a little girl... or take over the world, which sounded more manly. World domination was the best.

"Perfect for a date, but plan ahead for things to go smoothly! Don't overcomplicate it, or it will backfire!"

Strategizing was his strength, or he so believed because he was smarter than his digimon lackeys who seemed to always fall for the human girl's tactic of cuteness. He just had to keep the plan of attack as simple as possible, so even the dumbest of digimon could understand and execute it, as if his previous plans of 'kill the Guardian Tamers' weren't crystal clear!

"Don't be stingy with money either! It will pay off in the end!"

That was going to be a tough advice to heed to, since he did put a lot of money into his previous plans and all of them failed. He might end up having to sell an arm and a leg and maybe half his soul on this next big yet simple plan.

"Your lucky number is eight."

Now the DigiEmperor was awake and smiling evilly, "Lucky day, huh."

After their snack, the trio were ready to get down to business. The whole reason for the get-together was to find the remaining elemental points to protect and perhaps give them any clue to help defeat the DigiEmperor. Mimi took out a disk from her pink backpack as Lillymon explained, "Izumi was able to locate the sixth elemental point."

Sitting in front of the computer, Yamato took the disk and inserted it and waited for the program and information to load. Mimi was anxiously sitting next to him while Lillymon sat on her left shoulder, in between them. The fairy looked very serious with her arms folded across her chest, "Roppongi is another huge area."

A map of Roppongi district appeared on the screen.

"Which element is detected here?" the blonde asked.

"Only two are left that we're searching for: air and darkness," she stated, "It could be either... although... Despite the traces of dark element being low, Izumi discovered it peaked during the night.

"The time of day may be influencing this element."

"So we'll be able to locate it better tonight?"

Lillymon nodded, "Keep in mind, we can also be facing an air elemental point too."

Yamato silently agreed and seemed to be in deep thought planning. Roppongi at night was one dangerous place. The district was known for its infamous nightlife. This was going to be throwing gasoline on the fire. If a battle broke out, a lot of people could be hurt, even killed. He was getting worried.

He glanced over at Mimi and raised an eyebrow at her serene figure. She sat quietly with her eyes closed. Her hands were clasped together as if she was in prayer, touching her lips. She was like an angel praying, and he heard her soft voice, "Roppongi... at night..."

Yamato felt his face warm and was certain he had a tint of pink on his cheeks. He looked away, hiding his blush, but concluded that she probably had the same thoughts he had...

"... IS SO ROMANTIC!" she squealed, causing Yamato and Lillymon to fall over. "Omigod, we can go shopping! Get dinner! Go sightseeing! Go dancing!" She rambled on, bouncing all over the apartment in sheer excitement.

The DigiEmperor, seated on his throne, was eating a plate of omelet for breakfast while they watched a starry-eyed Mimi talk about a romantic getaway in Roppongi. Piedmon even agreed, adding that a view of Tokyo on an observation deck would end the super romantic night successfully, and one would have to wonder of his girlish tendencies, not that the emperor ever did a full background check on his lackies.

Puppetmon walked into the room and once again in the middle of reading a piece of paper. "Some good news, sir," he stopped walking and looked up to the man on the throne, "The Magic Mirror found the next elemental point."

The DigiEmperor paused in his meal and Piedmon hesitantly muted the television, and both stared at Puppetmon, a slight gesture for him to proceed with said information, yet he remained silent. The latter turned away (to the readers) and flicked his wrist in a shooing motion, "Go away (readers)!"

"Ugh I don't care (about them)," the emperor rolled his eyes, "Out with it!"

"But, but what if the Guardian Tamers found out (from them)?!"

"Oh, good point." The emperor glared (at the readers) and said, "Go stalk those two on their..." he placed the plate in his lap and brought both hands into the air and made air quotes with his finger on the next word, "'date' or something."

"Why did you air quote date, sir?" Piedmon asked, and then he started waving his hands in the air to aid his articulation of how spectacular the phenomenon was, "Everyone knows they're on a date!"

The DigiEmperor slapped his forehead and sighed, "When the hell did you become their fan?! This 'fascination' you have is unhealthy."

"Sir, the proper term is Mimato!"

"Mimato? What the hell is a Mimato?!" he seemed stumped for a moment, but before Piedmon could give a simple and obvious explanation, he turned a furious, embarrassing red, hopping to his feet, and corrected himself, "I MEAN, dammit, do I look like I care?!"

The plate of half-eaten omelet had crashed to the floor.

Mimi looked at her reflection in the window of the subway train, fixing her hair. Her fingers brushed her bangs to the side, tucking some strands behind her ear. With everything in place and looking fabulous, she smiled and glanced to her, side where Yamato was seated and did not look remotely happy, glaring at each passenger walking by the pair.

A couple of elderly people even complimented on how cute the two kids looked on their date that a flushed Yamato quickly and vehemently denied. Only Mimi could smile in return and was not even fazed by the comment. He couldn't wait till they reached their destination and leave the public humiliation behind, but unfortunately that would be at least another thirty minutes till they arrive in Roppongi.

A long, grueling half an hour for poor Lillymon to be stuck in Mimi's small backpack. She had to poke her head out a few times to get some air, only to get promptly pushed back by Yamato's finger poking her head. She grumbled some inaudible threats to the boy who chose to ignore her.

"Where should we start?" Mimi asked him.

He made a grunt sound and opened the map he had, trying to ignore Mimi leaning towards him to get a good look at it too. He moved the map in her direction, so she would stop getting into his personal space, and began to scrutinize it, furrowed brows and scrunched nose and all. She looked at the map, then over to him, letting her eyes linger on his concentrated face.

"Well the obvious place would be Roppongi Hills," he surmised, since it was the most recently built structure and large too, "but most tourist maps start at Tokyo Midtown. When can start north from there and go south." It was going to be a lot of walking today, and a good thing he wore his comfortable sneakers. He looked over to her feet and saw a pair of pink sneakers and had to snicker to himself. When he raised his head again, he glanced to his side.

"Gyaah!" he shouted in surprise at seeing Mimi's face so close to his and fell to the opposite side in surprise, bumping into a rather large man with a mean glare. He quickly apologized to him and turned back to glare at Mimi, "What?!"

She smiled warmly and tilted her head to the side, "You looked so focused! It was cute!"

"I do not!" he whipped his head away to hide the blush from her, but everyone in the train compartment giggled and smiled at the kids. They were just too adorable, especially the cute girl who looked vaguely familiar, and that was when it hit them.

"You're... Misaki Tachikawa's daughter!"

The passengers, all smiles, began to surround them, with praises and questions from mother and daughter and family to school and her hobbies and her boyfriend with her. Yamato had to shout several times over the crowd that he was not her boyfriend and that he didn't even like her, not that much anyway. Everyone thought it was cute how he was in denial, and they excused such behaviors due to his age.

"Don't take it to heart, Yama-chan," Mimi whispered, still smiling to her fans. He continued to sulk, arms crossed, back slouched forward, stealing few glances at the girl next to him, who entertained the people as if she had been a celebrity and not her mother. It wouldn't surprise him if she was born into the world to be a star, she did shine like one, practically blinding him during their first meeting.

He sighed and leaned back, letting the back of his head rest against the glass. So much for peace and quiet for the next thirty minutes, but he didn't hate it.

Piedmon was so overjoyed, "Sir! Everyone agrees they're on a date!"

The DigiEmperor whipped his head towards Piedmon, who was still glued to the television, and glared, wishing he could burn a hole through his head. He decided it was best not to say a word, or else he would be dragged into the Mimato discussion again, and focused on finalizing his plans, "Now to select the digimons to pull this through."

He had several files on his lap and held two in his hand, skimming through the information provided by the Digimon for Hire agency, which sounded more like a model agency than a mercenary group. "Damn, these are pretty expensive," he grumbled, "but the horoscope said I shouldn't fret over money if I want this to be successful. All right, I'll just pool all the money from the Swiss accounts..."

Puppetmon walked into the room again, after a quick bathroom break, with a shounen manga tucked under his armpit and oblivious of the trail of toilet paper being dragged by his feet. "Have you chosen the digimons, sir?" he asked.

"Yes," he smiled, holding the receiver to his ear, and announced proudly, because he was on hold, "Garudamon... and a surprise."

Puppetmon was amazed, and Piedmon joined him in saying, "OooOoOoh..."

Then the latter asked, "When did we get Swiss accounts?"

Finally at their stop and to get things started before it hit the late afternoon, Yamato adjusted the strap on his black backpack and eagerly pushed Mimi off the train just so they could leave her mother's fans, or her own fans behind, all wished them the best on their afternoon date. He winced at the reminder of their situation where it was just the two of them, as they made their way through the busy weekend afternoon. It was a bad idea to pick the weekend, but they had to deal with their enemies as soon as possible.

When they made it outside, onto the streets, he heard Lillymon fussing in the backpack and remembered, with slight disappointment, that there was a chaperon. He tugged Mimi in the direction towards Tokyo Midtown, "Let's get something to eat, and we can start the program."

"Some place private!" Lillymon sighed from the backpack, "so I can get out of this prison!"

"No way!" Yamato grumbled, "There's way too many people around. We can't risk it!"

"Curse you, Ishida!"

"Don't blame me! You're the flying fairy here! If you were a dog or cat, we wouldn't even be talking about this!"

"You're just jealous that I can fly and I'm so cute!"

"Like I care!" he shouted, drawing a few eyes on them. The image of a boy screaming at the innocent, adorable girl caused many of them to frown and shake their heads in dismay, but they didn't know that he was actually directing his dislike - since hate was such a strong word - to the annoying fairy in the backpack.

"Oh!" he heard Mimi gasp, and she pointed to something behind him, "Let's eat there!"

He turned around to see the popular MosBurger chain across the road and raised a brow at her unexpected selection. Most people loved the place, but he never thought the peppy, spoiled princess would ever eat at a commoner's joint. She gave him a pull and started moving on her own, and he allowed her to take the lead, forgetting that her hold on him made onlookers grin in their direction. A much too adorable sight of a girl and her boyfriend crossing the street to their date spot, and many fangirls in Roppongi were born that day.

He gave one more glance to the restaurant name overhead before willingly following her inside. The inside was nice and clean and crowded, not surprising since it was the weekend, and the lines seem to be even, so it didn't matter where they stood. He was preoccupied with Mimi, whose head was turning in all directions, so he probably assumed correctly that she had never eaten there before.

He had to hide his laughter behind his hand, but she caught his quiet chuckles and looked at him with confusion. He grinned, as if he caught her in an embarrassing moment, "You look like a fish out of water."

"I've just never been here before! It's so nice!" she gushed, "Mom normally cooks everything, but when we do go out, it's always these fancy places dad likes." She seemed thoughtful for a moment before focusing on the menu. There was a lot printed and so many interesting choices, and her brows furrowed in what seemed to be a mental conflict, which Yamato couldn't help but laugh some more. A sort of charm and cuteness even graced her wrinkled displeasure, and she turned to him with annoyance in her voice.

"Mou! Yama-chan, what should I eat? I can't decide!"

He chucked both hands into the pocket of his slouchy jeans and shrugged like the cool-looking guy that he was, "I dunno, but I'm getting their cheeseburger."

"You're no help!" she sighed, crossing her arms, and returned to glaring at the board on the wall, with her bottom lip protruding into a pout.

Yamato turned his head to the side and grinned, trying to contain his unexplanable amusement. For the past three hours, he had seen all sorts of expressions from her, and they just brought a smile to him, as much as he tried to hide it from her. He caught some girls, a bit older than him, in the next line ogling him, and in return, he just scowled and rolled his eyes. He didn't like the female attention he received - from all age ranges from swooning fangirls to doting mothers and grandmothers - so he moved closer to Mimi and leaned a bit near her ear.

He whispered, "The teriyaki chicken burger is pretty good."

She turned her head, and their noses barely brushed by but eyes locked on each other. He found it unexpected, but he should have anticipated the closeness and refused to back away from a challenge that he, himself, started. She didn't even flinch from their intimate position and smiled, "It does sound good!"

They were next in line, so being a gentleman, Yamato let her order first. She took his suggestion and added in some sweet potato puffs with an iced peach tea, and the teenager behind the register smiled, politely and a bit too friendly for Yamato's taste. Didn't anyone think it was creepy to be giving elementary kids so much attention? Before the guy could finish the transaction, he stepped up next to her, arm brushing against arm, and placed his order with hers, "And I'll have the MOS cheeseburger with fries and a medium coca-cola."

From the corner of his eye, he saw her dig through her pink backpack for her pink wallet and gently touched her arm with his hand, stopping her from continuing, "I got this." He took out his leather wallet and paid the whole transaction before she could protest with her cute, pouty lips. After he received his change, they moved aside, and he told her, "Go find a seat. I'll wait for the food."

She nodded and did as she was told, finding a small table tucked in a corner. She sat down with her back faced to the people around her, taking off her pink backpack, and placed it in her lap. She unzipped it and allowed Lillymon to poke half her body out of it, inhaling the nice air. "Ugh I'm so hungry," she said, and her stomach made the loudest of sounds. Mimi smiled and looked back for Yamato. He had just grabbed their food, so she raised her hand and waved him over.

Yamato frowned at Lillymon, who was pretty much drooling at the tray of food he had just placed down, and looked around them before taking off the backpack and setting it by his feet as he sat down. There was an empty table behind Mimi, and nothing to his back, so he had a good view of everyone else in the restaurant. He rearranged the food so Mimi and Lillymon had theirs on the tray while he took his own. He dove right into his sandwich, feeling famished from all the used up energy in dealing with Mimi and Lillymon - surprised he didn't have any gray hairs sprouting yet.

"This is delicious!" the girl exclaimed, eyes wide staring at the chicken burger in her hands. Lillymon was busy falling in love with the sweet potato puffs. They both looked so childish, trying something for the first time and loving it, but it was sort of cute.

He faked a cough to hide his gaze and grabbed a sip from his soft drink. He turned his full attention to his burger and finished it rather quickly, because he wanted to start Koushirou's tracking program, and it would be a welcoming distraction. He dumped his trash on the corner of the tray and then reached over to his backpack from the laptop. He booted up the equipment, trying to keep his eyes locked on the screen and not Mimi's curious profile lingering on the restaurant natural decor.

The program seemed to be working correctly, at least from what Koushirou had walked him through the first few times. All he had to do was note the levels of the elements they were tracking, and if need be to compare them to the previous week's daily records. Now that they were actually in the area of investigation, it was clear that the levels migrated more towards the southeast and east.

"We're going to Mori Tower."

She paused in mid sip of her tea and looked at him, "Eh, we're not going to Midtown?"

"No, there's a higher reading in the east. Not by much, but I have a feeling it's there. We can get a better look from the observation deck at Mori Tower." He trusted his instincts when it came to making the final decisions. Plus, he probably wouldn't be able to handle Mimi dragging him around all day, and if he could lessen that activity, he would do it.

"Okay, but let's get some ice cream on the way!"

"Didn't you get enough to eat?"

"Yeah, but who can pass up ice cream?!" she smiled.

"Yeah, ice cream~!" Lillymon seemed drunk on food.

He sighed, "You guys realize we have a mission here?"

"Ice cream won't distract us!" Mimi and Lillymon put on their best puppy dog eyes, forcing him to turn away to avoid the sparkles and shimmers that would blind a normal human being into blindness. Two against one, it was an obvious lost on his part, and he ended up following Mimi down the street, with the laptop tucked under his armpit in case he needed to quickly check the program.

So much for getting just ice cream and not be distracted. He groaned, prevented himself from slapping a hand to his forehead, when Mimi bounced from one store window to another. Lillymon found herself comfortable draped over Mimi's shoulder, hidden beneath the girl's long hair and enjoyed the window shopping just as much as her human counterpart. While they were a bit preoccupied, he opened the laptop to get another look. Even though he hadn't been to Roppongi before, he did know of the major hotspots and knew the best place to wait out the rest of the day - if only he could convince her to bypass all the stores and eatery on the way, which was impossible.

"Yama-chan! Let's go in here!" she called.

He closed the laptop and looked in her direction. She stood, more like hopping from one foot to the other in excitement that just seemed to spill over and he prayed it wasn't contagious, in front of Cold Stone Creamery.

"Er, I'll pass. I'll wait out here for you," he told her and made himself comfortable leaning against the corner of the store. She stared at him with a slight pout, thinking about just pulling him inside, but he looked like he was rooted in his spot. He took more interest in the laptop, so she turned around and stepped inside the shop.

He was still focused on the laptop screen when Mimi returned, holding an large waffle cone with a spectacular scoop of strawberry ice cream mixed with fruits of strawberries and bananas, sprinkled with graham cracker crumbs - aptly named 'Strawberry Dates Banana'. He didn't even know she was back until the cone appeared in his vision, followed by much protest from Lillymon who had been in the middle of eating the creamy deliciousness. He shut the laptop again and stared at her then at the pink dessert. He almost burst into laughter because he believed she picked that particular flavor for the color.

"We can share!" she smiled, moving the cone towards his mouth to give him a taste. He blushed and backed away, suddenly the rush of embarrassment returned and he didn't know how to deal with it, nor her. "It's reaaaally goood~!" she sang, inching it closer to him with each word. He groaned and gave in, taking a bite.

"There! Happy now!" he licked his lips, hiding his enjoyment of the treat because it really tasted good despite the girly appearance. A bit disappointed in himself for giving into the girl so easily, because he was always alone much less interacting with another person, yet for some reason, he couldn't dismiss her like everyone else. If he left her alone, who knew what sort of trouble she got herself in. He lost count of the many times he had saved her since their first meeting.

He sighed and looked away, noticing various people grinning their way, only to return a scowl. "Hurry up and eat. It's melting," he tilted his head towards her hand, eyeing a big chunk missing from his earlier bite, dripped onto her hand. Her eyes enlarged, and she quickly licked the melted cream with Lillymon's help, and soon, the cone was devoured between the two of them.

Yamato started to walk ahead, and she quickly caught up to him, but he was really walking fast. She grabbed his free arm to make him slow down, "Mou, Yama-chan! Can you not walk so fast!"

"We don't have all day..."

"Yes, we do!" she looked down at her wrist, where a pink watch sat, and the time almost hit the six mark, "Um, okay maybe not." Then her eyes roamed about, from the streets to the building then to the blue skies above. He followed her gaze, forgetting that she was still hugging his left arm, "Everything looks normal too. Maybe nothing will happen!"

He rolled his eyes at her optimism, "Yeah well, can't expect the bad guys to play by the rules."

It practically took an hour to get to Mori Tower, which was just a few blocks down the street, but oh no, thanks to the cute and lovely window displays along the way, it seriously took them that long. He was so irritated by it all that he refused to speak with her, thinking how he should have done the mission alone, like he always had done. He started out alone and would remain alone on his journey.

"Just a teeny bit of shopping?!" she tried to plead with her cute looks and great personality, which was like trying to break down a concrete wall with a plastic spoon.

Right, she was with him. There was no way he could ever be alone again, and he wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not, but if he avoided eye contact or just not look at her, period, there was a slim chance he could get out of the situation unscathed or a small dent to his manly pride.

"No, we are going straight to the top!" he stood firm by his decision, "we are here for a reason!" He hurried to the elevators as fast as he could, with a Mimi attached to his left arm attempting to pull him in the opposite direction, but in the end, Yamato was declared the winner, dragging the girl into the elevator with him. The doors quickly closed, and Mimi started to sob at how mean he was. To make it worse, they had an audience of adults, a majority of females who sympathized with Mimi, and only the few men present could shake their heads in Yamato's direction.

He tried to look away as if he didn't know her, but it was very difficult when the girl was clinging to him for dear life, "Yama-chan doesn't like me!" She continued to bawl her eyes out, full water works and all, while he tried to calm her down with so called promises of future shopping, which seemed to have worked when her eyes turned to him, suddenly brightened and lack of tears.

"You're the best, Yama-chan!" she smiled.

He just realized the girl just played him and growled, "You promise to behave the rest of the day?"

She nodded obediently, hugging his arm sweetly, and he just sighed, now oblivious to the adults, who found the scene heartwarming and ignored the fact that these kids were walking around without their parents. Seriously, who in their right mind would allow such a thing to happen?! These were young kids, even though they act like teenagers most of the time, were unsupervised on a busy weekend in a popular district - never mind that they were secretly superheroes and could kick anyone's ass anyway!

They made their way up to the 54th floor, to the observation deck, and Mimi practically bounced out of the compartment, followed by an exaperated Yamato. He hoped they could relax there for the rest of the evening, and if Mimi wanted to, she could actually do her shopping, alone, because he was not going to budge from that place. He walked around for a bit, still keeping the girl within his vision, and found a nice, secluded spot with a good view to the east.

He set up the laptop on the bench and relaxed, while Mimi dropped off her backpack next to him and ran off to the windows. She inserted a few coins and adjusted the viewing scope, so she can look at the awesome view, even though she had seen the different areas of Tokyo several times, including the field trip to Tokyo Tower. She moved it towards the eastern side, wondering if she could see her neighbor but instead she spotted the Rainbow Bridge and a few more obvious landmarks of Odaiba.

Meanwhile Lillymon struggled to get out of the backpack, but Yamato just pushed her head inside again, warning her it wasn't time and too many people were still about. He was tired with the whole day, but he still had his job to monitor the program, which he would never relinquish to the bubbly princess for fear that she would break it. He, still a child, nodded off a few times, and the fairy digimon sought this chance and slipped into the air.

She flew high up to the ceiling to avoid roaming eyes, but the majority of the people on the top floor were couples, busy hiding in various dark corners and 'eating' each other's faces. She rolled her eyes and tried not to gag at the image of an older Mimi doing that with Yamato, determined to never, ever allow that happen as long as she lived. She just had to brainwash Mimi with all the negative things about the boy, or the opposite gender in general like them having deadly, life-threatening cooties.

"Lillymon, you're a genius!" she grinned proudly and flew over to Mimi who was still goofing around with the scenic views.

Not much happened for the next few hours, so the two females did the best they could to entertain themselves since Yamato forbade them to leave his sight. It was getting dark outside, after the sun had descended over the horizon, and few people were lurking in their area, most left for dinner or more better date spots without kids lingering about. Mimi, still by the window, glanced back at Yamato, who found the screen more interesting than her or anything around him, and it bugged her. She turned around and didn't know why she pouted when all he did was stare at the laptop since he was just doing his job.

Then a gruff voice boomed over them, "What are you kids doin' up here by yourselves?" An adult who actually bothered to address unsupervised, underaged kids was almost unheard of.

Mimi looked over her shoulders to the security guard who spared her a quick glance and then turned to Yamato, who gave him a disinterested expression. Mimi hopped over to her friend and the guard, and with the sweetest smile ever, "We're just waiting for our parents to finish shopping! We promise to behave, sir!"

She noticed that Yamato's blue eyes suddenly widened as he jumped to his feet, laptop left on the bench. He had just seen a streak of flames across the sky. He grabbed Mimi's hand and ran to the window, and both barely heard the guard's next words, "All right, just don't stay too late."

The man frowned and followed the kids, wondering why they were suddenly being rude. In the distance, a giant, flying creature of fire swooped down on some buildings below. The kids ignored the guard's vulgar mouth and panic and ran off. They ran to an isolated area and transformed within seconds, because there was no time to waste on lengthy transformation sequences when there was a city to save from the bad guys.

To start the destruction early, Yamato as Stingmon punched one of the windows to make an exit and flew outside. Mimi, in her cute Lillymon outfit, looked at the broken glass worriedly and then quickly pursued her unofficial partner, afraid he might do something dangerous. She watched him chase after the flaming digimon that began to circle a specific location, in the east like Yamato had said earlier.

A lot of people were on the ground, some running away horrified while others were awed by the awesome sight, even snapping shots from their cellphone to commemorate the phenomenon or their last moments alive because of their stupidity. Either way, the heroes had no choice but to save these stupid people from impeding doom.

Mimi flew down to the streets and tried to get everyone to clear the area, and soon the police appeared and began to evacuate the crowds. Several more people were screaming and fleeing - more hectic than normal if one could define it - from a building, and she flew over to see what was wrong. "What's going on?" she asked one of the escapee.

The poor woman was crying, "There's a... uuhh, a giant monkey inside!"

"Who can't sing!" a man running by added.

A random person screamed, "My ears are still bleeding!"

She took one more glance to the skies where Yamato was trying to distract Garudamon from attacking the area below them. She believed he could take care of things outside while she dealt with whatever was inside... the club? She realized that most of the people who ran out were employees of the club, wearing their uniforms, because it was a bit early for people to gather, and since she was such an awesome and responsible daughter, she had no curfew.

Speaking of curfew, she ought to check in with her parents. She took out her cellphone from her... outfit subspace pocket and called home, "Kaa-san, I'm doing great!" She was listening to her mother and pushing her way through the people to get inside the building. The club had several floors, and the monster seemed to be on the next floor. "Eh, it's nothing!" she tried to convince her mother that the background noise of screams was really nothing, "Erm, movie...? Yes! Scary movie!

"I really have to go now, kaa-san! LoveYouByeNow!" she sped through her final words and cut the call off just. She stuffed the modern technology back into her magical subspace, just as she made it to the top of the stairs. She found the source of the problem still on stage in the form of one Etemon, harrassing the masses with his annoying voice. Even Mimi found it to be horrendous and most challenging, covering both ears and trying to stay on her feet instead of a heap on the floor.

His high-pitched voice destroyed every piece of fragile glassware, then following that display, his bass level caused the floor and walls to shake and crumble. Talk about bringing the house down with a bad performance, literally. Mimi fell to the ground but managed to crawl towards the stage, where Etemon started to swing the microphone stand around, not caring that it was causing additional damage because that was his purpose.

She climbed to her feet and faced the rebellious digimon, pointing a finger at him and preparing to give her opening speech of justice and whack, but she quickly duck the swinging microphone a few times. Upset at being interrupted, she grabbed a chair and threw it at Etemon, who saw it coming but strangely didn't move to avoid it. The chair smashed into his gut, and he flew back and hit the wall.

She walked to the edge of the stage where the platform rose six inches from the floor, searching for the injured digimon, "Ano, are you okay, Mr. Digimon?"

Etemon jumped to his feet, singing into the microphone:

o/` My name is Etemon~!

o/` And I'm no mere digimon~!

o/` I'm an awesome singer~!

o/` And soon to be, your grim reaper~!

"CONCERT CRUSH!" he bellowed deeply into the mic, sending air waves in Mimi's direction.

Unable to move away quickly, she crossed her arms in front of her to block the pressure of air. The attack overwhelmed her, blasting her small body through several walls and into the streets of Roppongi. She flew even farther through the air, her voice shrieking into the night caught Yamato's attention. She pushed against the attack and managed to stop herself from hitting the building across the street, just mere inches away.

"MIMI!" He ducked a ball of flame before trying to dive down to his partner, but his opponent was not going to let him go, wings flapping several more fireballs at him. "SPIKING STRIKE!" His fists punched every fireball, destroying each one in a puff of smoke.

Garudamon began to circle him, shooting more fireballs at him, keeping him from reuniting with Mimi, who even had her hands full with Etemon. She couldn't get near him anymore with all his CONCERT CRUSH attacks forcing her back every time. She even tried her FLOWER CANNON attack and that was quickly neutralized within seconds. Annoyed and upset, there was one solution left for her.

Meanwhile, Yamato had just extinguished one fireball and barely dodge another, the heat rushing by his face, almost threatening to scorch him to ashes. The giant firebird was increasing in speed, charging at him, and he couldn't get out of the way. The flames crashed against his armored hands, throwing him back into a tall building. Stingmon was a powerful digimon, but he lacked the speed.

Stuck in the wall, he reached into his pocket for a digital coin just as Mimi had pulled out her own, "I call upon the Digital Monster..."

"... MONZAEMON!"

"... AIRDRAMON!"

The two Guardian Tamers somehow ended up shouting in sync with one another despite one being stuck several stories in the air from the other, "Lend me your powers and guide me into victory! DIGITAL ASSIMILATION!"

Now it was time to kick digimon asses! At least that was what the few people left on the streets had hoped when they saw Mimi wearing what looked like a bear wearing a pink ballerina tutu, with a big pink heart on her chest. They were even amazed that she could even move in it, so graceful and cute. The huge cushioning of the bear's fluffy armor protected her from the air waves of Etemon's attacks as she rushed forward, extending her huge, adorable paws in front of her.

"HEARTS ATTACK!"

A giant pink heart shot right through the air attack and smashed into Etemon, knocking the tone deaf digimon off the ground. Mimi jumped at him with her final attack, her lovely mallet over her head, bringing it down upon the fearful Etemon who attempted to sing out, "Nooo~ooo~ooo~!"

"GIGA-SMASH!"

With one digimon down, the amazed spectators turned their eyes skyward, because it was up to Yamato to... err, Yamato landed on the ground right behind Mimi, who picked up the digital coin, and made sure that she was okay. He was a worry wart, when it came to her, but hell would have to freeze over before he would admit it. He tossed his digital coin into the air and let it drop back into his hand again, to show her that he was also rewarded for his success.

One random person pointed to Yamato and shouted, "HEY! What happened to your fight?! We wanted to see it!"

"Well you guys were too focused," the boy scoffed, waving his hand towards Mimi in her cute MONZAEMON outfit, "on her to watch me!" It wasn't that he sounded jealous or anything, because it was stupid, but there was a bit of a pout on his lips. How dare these people demand a fight from him! He was there trying to save their asses and the city, and all they want was entertainment?!

He threw the crowd an icy glare before turning to Mimi, "We are out of here!"

"Aaaw, but I wanna play some more here!"

"No! Our mission is done!"

She crossed her arms and stuck her bottom lip out into a prominent pout, "This date sucks!" The crowd, remaining at a distance for fear of the male Guardian Tamer, nodded in agreement.

"This wasn't a date!" he shouted.

She blinked, her mouth parted as if she had just realized how true it was, and she agreed, "You're right." It was his turn to blink, did hell just freeze over that she finally agreed with him on something, at least until she spoke again, "It's not a date 'cause I didn't give you a kiss good night!"

She smiled, leaning forward to a shock Yamato, and kissed his cheek. He turned a tomato red while the audience teased him with a few comments and encouraging sounds. He whirled around and shouted, "TORNADO!" A tunnel of wind smashed into the people, sucking them into a column of air, while he grabbed Mimi's wrist and pulled her along, mumbling, "Annoying extras..."
