Revenge
Chapter 11.
After having a final check of the site the next morning they then head back home and after dropping their stuff off and catching up with the kids, they then head towards the Navy yard. For their first port of call Gibbs & Charlie head for Ducky and autopsy. Just before they hit the floor they need in the elevator Gibbs stops it & says "Are you sure you're going too be ok if this turns out the way we think it's going to go?" She replies "I'm very sure about things. I made a vow last that if we did find something yesterday at all, then that was going too be it. My past was going too be behind me, other than working out what had happened and catching whoever was involved with it all of course." He puts his hand on her shoulder and gives it a little squeeze before giving her a slight smile as he says "Ok, let's get this done." He then starts the elevator once again to go the short distance to the floor they need they get out and go into autopsy. Ducky explains that they have got a fair bit of evidence off the body and it was slightly more than they had really expected too get. When Gibbs asks if it will be enough, Ducky says that he really hopes that it will be, it just depends on how long it's been buried for & what Abby can make of it all. As they leave Gibbs says "Thanks Duck, I think that Abby should be our next port of call then." So they then head for the elevator once again.
Just as they get to the elevator it opens with Tony inside it as they join him inside he says "I'm glad that I managed to catch you up. I've done some checking of the guns serial number, it has come back as Nick's NCIS issued one at the time of Simon's disappearance. I also got the reports from the gun of his that was reported as missing. He had originally said that it had gone missing at a crime scene. It was of course investigated, so he then changed the statement saying that he was really covering for Simon and that it had really gone missing after Simon had been round at his because Simon also knew what the combination was for his gun cabinet." As they then get to the lab floor they all get out together, as they head into the lab Gibbs says to Tony "Can you get in touch with the investigator and see if it's possible to get him in, if we can we'll talk to him later. First of all come in with us so that you can catch up with everything. As they go in Abby is full of news about what they've got & it is very much looking like the swap theory is correct especially as from the little tissue samples that they managed to get it's looking like Simon could've drugged Nick before killing him, but the results for that won't be available until the next day. A few minutes later something bleeps and it's the DNA results they've been waiting for & it's the proof that Simon did take Nick's place. After that Abby says to her that even though she didn't want to put the kids through having a DNA test, would she be willing to get it done just in case they need the extra evidence to prove that the swap took place. She then answers "I know that I said at the start that I was a bit scared too do it, but now we know that the swap has taken place I am willing to get it done. Before we get it done though can you give me and Tony a chance of going to explain it too them?"
Gibbs then says "Before you two go & do that & then bring them in let's just go upstairs and work out where we're going with this, you can also then do that call Tony as well. Thanks Abs and keep me updated with everything that you get." The three of them then walk out and go back to the elevator again, after going a little way Gibbs stops it and then hands Charlie an envelope, when she opens it she finds the adoption papers for Tony to become the kids father in it. As she tries not to start getting emotional about it she gives him a hug and says "Thanks dad."
He then says "I wanted to get it done as I said I would because the two of you are so very right together and I couldn't ask for a better father than Tony for my grandchildren. Because of now knowing that Nick is not the kids father but because he's on the birth certificate and we can prove he's not & was dead at the time, it will be simple just to get him taken off of it. Everything should be finalized by the end of next week, so as soon as it's done you can then get Tony's name put on there instead. Over changing their surname you'll have to wait until everything has been finalized to do that. I know that you also said about them also having our name, but I think we should try and just stick with Tony's because it might make it that bit harder for the grandparents or other relatives to find them. Because even though they won't be able too do anything once the adoption goes through, once the dust has settled from all of this I don't really trust them not to try anything. Especially if for now we try to keep you Tony out of their way & quiet that should also said hopefully help."
Charlie then adds "I know that we don't know what's going to happen in the future, but I think it's a good idea. Because as their father now I do want them to have Tony's name."
Tony then hugs them both before saying "& it will be a real honor for them all to have my name and I promise you all that I will always be here to look after you and protect you all." After that Gibbs starts the elevator once again & they all head up to the bullpen together. Where Gibbs explains to everyone that to catch Nick they need to get her in-laws there, but they also need McGee to keep an eye on his cell because they need advance warning of his being there and around them, just in case he does by any chance try something. They've also got to get them there without any suspicions being raised into what's happening because it could instigate a report & an investigation into the agents involved. Which of course they know that Charlie will be in the clear because of the switch having happened after she had originally known him. She then suggests that they should perhaps go to Vance about it and see if he can get help from Hettie over things, especially as everything started before she was even in charge. So with that Gibbs says he'll go & talk to Vance while everyone keeps going with what they need to do. While Tony gets the call he needs to do done and the two of them then go & get the other job done.
When they get back to the house with the kids they sit on the sofa with them & so that they're not overwhelmed by everything all at once they take everything slowly. First of all they say about their dad being a bad man and because of that they want to make Tony their father instead and would they like that. It also makes them both smile when both the kids say that they really love Tony so they would really love him too be their dad and they then both give him a hug. They then explain about she & Tony getting together in a relationship & that they've done some special papers signed which means that he will officially be their father on Friday. Because of both the kids being so happy about the news they then make Charlie laugh as they both go & jump on Tony hugging and kissing him, then he all of a sudden yells but not too loudly "Help I'm being suffocated!" When they finally get off him they then ask him if it meant that they could now call him daddy and he tells them once again with a hug that he will be very happy if they would like too do so. After that they then take things carefully as they say that they need to do a special test on them as some of the proof that their father has been a bad man, but will only do it if they will agree to it. As Andrew says "I will do it to show that daddy was a bad man, but only if you and daddy Tony are with us and it doesn't hurt." They promise him that it won't hurt them in any way & that they will be with them as it happens. After a couple of minutes silence the kids then ask that because they would be having Tony's surname now what about Charlie having it as well. So they then explain that they won't be able too do that until some special papers have gone through to say that she & their dad aren't together anymore, then she & Tony can then get married and she can then have his name as well. Although because she doesn't want their dad's name anymore then she will be having her dad's surname until she can have Tony's. Of course the next question they ask is that will they be having more brothers and sisters, to which they tell them that they might do. After that she then says that she's going to give Abby a call to find out when they can go in and do the test. When she's done the call as she goes into the kitchen to do it she goes into the lounge and says "Shall we all go out and get some lunch first, as Abby says that she can't do it until a bit later on." As they all say yes to it she tells Andrew and Rosie to go & get their shoes and coats to put on. As soon as the two of them have left the room she turns round and says to Tony "So that's it then, you're now officially their father, so how does it feel to now be a family man?" He answers her "It actually feels really good & now that I do have a family you will always come first now." They then kiss, but break apart again when they all of a sudden hear a unison of "Yuck!" From both kids.
After the test has been done the kids are sitting in the lab enjoying their lollies for being so good, Charlie and Abby have stayed with them chatting while Gibbs and Tony have only just gone off, as they're in the elevator Tony pulls a Gibbs and stops it he then says "I know that this could possibly be too soon, but with today's events and because I love her so much and we did sort of touch on things a bit earlier, but will you please give me your blessing to marry her?"
Gibbs replies "You're making her happy and I know that you really love her and will always be there for your family. So you have my blessing to ask her."
"Thanks I promise that I will always look after her and our family. I also promise you that even though our plans are to extend the family, I won't ever make her leave the job. It will always be her decision and I will always support whatever decision she makes over it." They then go onto discussing the wedding and Tony says that most probably they would only be doing something small because of her having already done the big do before & not particularly wanting to do it again. He also says that he's unsure what to do over his dad with the way their relationship is, but Gibbs advises him that he should really tell him that he's getting married, because it is such an important event in his life. He then tells him that if he wants to he can duck out for a while to get a ring, as all their waiting on is the interview with Tim Scott the investigator. As there's time in the waiting for him he can take her and the kids home. Gibbs then adds as he restarts the elevator again "I would say to you though don't plan the proposal, as I know from experience if you plan something, it nearly always goes wrong." As they then reach the bullpen Tony gets his stuff and leaves.
Later on when Tony and Gibbs got home it was to find a real hive of activity going on, as well as some really gorgeous smells drifting around the house. As he goes into the kitchen Gibbs says "So what's going on here?" Rosie replies "We wanted to do something special for Tony being our daddy, so we've been helping mummy make something special for our tea." As both he and Tony go and take a look Tony says to them "That looks really nice, but it also looks like the two of you are wearing most of it all over you." Charlie then interrupts by saying "Well that's all we need to do for now and it will be ready in about half an hour, so that should give us enough time to get certain people cleaned up." Tony says "Don't worry I'll get them sorted, that way you can have some peace for a little while." She says "Are you sure?" He answers "I'm very sure, go & sit down." As Tony takes them both off upstairs Gibbs goes over and offers to also make her a drink and she says she would. As she then goes and sits down while he makes the drinks, as he joins her she asks him how things went with the investigator. He tells her that things were ok, but he's going to speak to him again in the morning because he said that he thought that there was something wrong but wouldn't elaborate on it, so he knows that he's holding something back. He then tells her that as he was leaving Vance had a call from Hettie to say that her parents in law had been picked up. So if she doesn't mind then she'll have to stay away from the Navy Yard for a couple of days or so. She tells him that she doesn't really want to see or be anywhere near them, so won't mind staying away. He then tells her that after having their meal he'll have the kids so that she and Tony can go back to his. As with having the parents there it probably wouldn't be long before Simon makes his way back to DC again, so they would have to be back acting like there's nothing going on and won't have any alone time. He then says after she thanks him. "So I hear there may be a possibility that when all this is over, I might be getting a new son-in-law?
She answers "You most probably will be, as I do really love Tony dad and this time round I do really feel like it's the right thing to do and I do really want to be with him." He tells her that he can tell that they do make a really great couple and however they decide on doing things then it will be a real honor for him to give her away. She tells him that it would also be a real honor for him to be at her side also. She does also admit that this time round she would just to have something small perhaps just them, the kids and the rest of the team, as well as having just a simple but elegant dress." He tells her that she can have things just as she wants them, he then adds "We'll see what we can do, but I promise you that we will make it this time a day that you will always remember no matter what." He then kisses the top of her head and gives her a hug.
When Tony brings the kids back down again she heads to dish up while the kids lay the table. Due to her having her back to Gibbs and Tony Gibbs does an indication for Tony to join him. When Tony does so Gibbs tells him that he got it out of her what she'd like in ways of a wedding. Tony also tells him that he's got the ring and quickly pulls the box out of his pocket to show him it. When everything is on the table she calls them all over to eat, as they all sit down Gibbs remains standing and says "I'm not going to make a speech, but I'd just like to drink a toast to us and to family." They then all stand up and do the toast before they sit back down and enjoy their meal.
Later that night they do as they've said they would and have gone back to Tony's apartment, while Gibbs has the kids for them. As they lay together on the sofa cuddled up together she says "Do you know what?" "What?" She answers "This is my favorite place being here in your arms." He replies "And it's mine too." They then go onto talk about it being a shame that Nick will most probably be coming back before long and how hard it's going too be for them to keep their hands off each other, especially when they're in a place where they could be seen. They agree that they will have to find a hiding place, just so that they can have a kiss or cuddle because they know that they won't be able to keep their hands off each other for a whole day! She also says that she wishes that she would have joined NCIS earlier because then she may have attempted to find her dad sooner, as they might have got together sooner. She also admits that even though she was so nervous about coming to DC with having to see her father for the first time, she was also glad that she'd already met Ducky and Abby because it had at least given her some insight into her father. The conversation also changes into past relationships and he admits to falling in love with Jeanne Benoit while undercover. She then admits about the same thing happening to her as she got chosen for an undercover assignment as a cop because of it involving someone from the Navy, so because of her past she'd been the logical choice too do it, but she made the same mistake and fell in love with him. She also admits that on a couple of occasions they'd also sneaked aboard his ship when it was in port and sometimes she'd had to be a bit of a contortionist to get into some places, which she doubted that with old age and having had two kids she could do it now. He tells her that she needn't worry about things because she still looks good and that's why he loves her. They then start kissing along with hands beginning to wander. In the end he breaks the kiss, takes her hand and they go into the bedroom!
A/N: Here we go with another new chapter and I hope that you enjoy it! I know it's a long one again and a bit of a filler one before we reach the conclusion! Even tthough there is still one more to go I am now marking this story as complete! Xxx. :-)
