I would like to apologies to all you guys for the long wait. I had some major writers block and gr4n1t3 th3 dr4g0n has been busy. We will do our best to get the next chapter finished as soon as possible.
Inside the temple, in the meeting room
"Now that, that was taken care of is there anything else we need to discuss before the meeting is adjourned?" asked Volteer.
"Why yes Volteer." said Vermello. "I think we should discuss the whereabouts of the two fugitives Spyro and Cynder. I think we should go and send a search party for them."
"Vermello it's been many years sense we banished those two and they have done nothing to threaten our way of life, or even anything that shows that they plan to do anything." Cyril retorted.
"How can you say that, we don't even know where they are hiding, they could have a massive army under their rule by know." stated Vermello.
"I actually have to agree with Vermello." said Terrador. "We should go look for Spyro and Cynder."
"Why do you think that?" asked Volteer.
"Like Cyril said himself, they have been gone for a long time and haven't done anything wrong to disturbed the peace. I think we should go find them and apologize for banishing them under false pretenses, and then if they do so desire, bring them back with us."
"No, they are still are under the influence of the corruption, and bringing them back here would cause a catastrophe." said Vermello
"But like you said so yourself, we don't have any proof if they are or not." said Volteer.
"I think we should give them a second chance." suggested Cyril.
"Then we are in agreement, we will send a search party to find and retrieve both Spyro and Cynder. Meeting adjourned." said Terrador.
As Terrador, Volteer, and Cyril got up to leave the meeting, Vermello stopped Terrador, "There is something I wish to discuss with you privately if you don't mind."
"No I do not mind" said Terrador. After the two other guardians left, Terrador spoke to Vermello. "What do you have on your mind?"
"Why do you still stick up for them."
"By them I believe you mean Spyro and Cynder, and I stick up for them because, I still believe that they were falsely accused."
"How can you say that? They said so themselves, that they have been corrupted, that should prove enough that they are evil creatures."
"How dare you speak ill kindly towards them!" The earth guardian's temper rose. "They have done nothing but save everyone from what seemed like certain death, and we repay them by banishing and chasing after them?! And even now you still want to see them pay for their so called 'crimes against dragon kind' when they have done nothing of that sort!" He paused for a second to calm down. "I know that the death of your mate by the paws of Cynder was tragic for you, but that was over 20 years ago. It's time you'd move on."
"No, no. I won't ever move on. Spyro and Cynder must pay for all the pain and death they have caused!" Vermello bellowed.
"You should know by now that Cynder had no control over her actions when she was the Terror of the Skies."
"How can you be so sure of yourself, you have no proof. You only have the word of a child that said she wasn't under Malefor's control".
"That is not true, Ignitus also believed in Cynder, and If Ignitus believed that Cynder had no control over her body, then it must have been true."
"Ignitus was nothing but a senile old dragon, who had no idea what he was talking about."
"DON'T YOU DARE TALK THAT TOWARDS IGNITUS!" shouted Terrador "IGNITUS WAS A WISE DRAGON WHO KNEW HOW TO TRUST OTHERS, AND GIVE THEM A SECOND CHANCE!"
"So then tell me Terrador, what happened to your so called 'wise dragon' when himself, Spyro, and Cynder crossed the belt of fire? How did these criminals foolishly tell a tale of his death?"
"Spyro and Cynder said that he sacrificed himself to get them across."
"And how do you know that he sacrificed himself? For all we know they could have killed Ignitus after they killed Malefor."
"Now why in the world would they do something like that?" asked Terrador.
"Simple, they still had the thirst for blood after they killed Malefor, and Ignitus ended up being there next victim."
"Enough Vermello, I am sick and tired of your irrelevant excuses. We are to find and bring back Spyro and Cynder, without any charges, regardless to whether or not you like it." said Terrador before storming out of the room.
Infuriated, Vermello clenches up his fist and pounds the ground below him creating a fist-sized dent. "We will see about that." he snarled.
The next day, Outside of Warfang
After a few hours of constant flight, both Hope and Sparx stopped only a several yards away from the gates into Warfang. Hope couldn't help, but stare at the massive gate that protected the dragon city from invaders. 'Wow' was the only thing that came to Hopes mind.
Sparx noticed Hope staring at the gate and said "Ya they're pretty big. It's just as big as I remember it."
"You have been here before?" asked Hope, taking her eyes off the gate and focusing on Sparx.
Hope noticed Sparx had a sad look on his face when he said "Ya, I was here a long time ago, with a good friend of mine".
"What happened to your friend?" Hope asked curiously. Sparx never responded, as he thought about all the adventurers he and Spyro went on. Sparx was snapped out of his thoughts when Hope asked "Sparx, are you all right?"
"Of course I'm all right, why wouldn't I be?" said Sparx as he went back to his more cheerful self.
"You sure? It looked like you had something on your mind."
"I was just thinking of my past, but lest not worry about that, let's go inside." said Sparx as he flew towards the giant gate. Hope just shrugged it off and followed Sparx. As Hope and Sparx reached the gates, two mole wearing armor, and carrying a spear approached them.
"What is your business here at Warfang?" asked one of the moles.
"We just want to enter is all." said Sparx.
"Well the two of you don't seem to be dangerous, so we will let you in." said the other guard before shouting over the wall, "Open the gates!"
The gate opened slightly, giving enough room for only Hope and Sparx to walk through. Once they were through the gate, the mole quickly closed it. Hope was once again astonished at the sight before her. There were dragons of all sizes, and color, along with Cheetahs and moles walking around. Hope was so amazed by all the activities of the city that she wasn't looking were she was going, and bumped it to someone.
She looked up to see a dragon a few inches taller than her. He had green scales that reflected in the sunlight as well as pure silver eyes. Black claws protruded out of his paws and black wing membrane and 6 black horns; 2 on the top of his head that slightly curve backwards and two on each side of his face.
"I do apologize, I wasn't looking were I was going." said the poison dragon.
"No, no it's alright; I wasn't paying much attention myself." Hope replied.
"I don't ever recall seeing you around here, are you new here?"
"Yeah, I just got here actually, with my step brother."
"Where's your step brother?" asked the poison dragon looking over Hope's shoulder.
"Actually I'm right here" said Sparx. "The name is Sparx nice to meet you, this is Hope".
"Oh, where are my manners my name is Savage. Say you said your name is Sparx, am I correct?"
"I did."
"Would you so happen to be the same Sparx that companied Spyro and Cynder on their journey?"
"I am, why do you ask"?
"I was just curious is all. What was it like to travel with them, you know, before they became evil?"
"Who are Spyro and Cynder?" asked Hope, confused at who Sparx and Savage were talking about.
"Spyro and Cynder were two powerful Dragons." said Sparx "Spyro was the legendary purple dragon, who could control four different elements. Cynder was once under the influence of the dark master, also known as Malefor. But back then she was called the Terror of the skies, until Spyro freed her. She then helped Spyro defeat Malefor before he could destroy this planet. And through most of their adventure I journeyed with them."
"Why haven't you ever mentioned them to me? It seems like you went on quiet an adventure."
"He was probably ashamed of them." said Savage "Sorry, but I don't mean to put words in your mouth; I just assumed you would be. You know...after they let the corruption take over their minds."
"No need to be sorry, I was disappointed when I heard what happened to them. To think after all the kindness they have shown to other, only for them to turn up as the monsters they protected others from." said Sparx.
"What is the corruption, and what is so bad about it?" asked Hope.
"Well no one knows what the corruption is specifically, but what we do know that it changes a dragon into a cruel, heartless, unforgiving creature that seeks only to kill others." Savage explained.
"Everyone seems to be pretty calm knowing that there are two dragons seeking to kill everyone." said Sparx.
"Well they haven't done anything actually. They were banished from Warfang about sixteen years ago, and they haven't shown any sign of attacking any dragons."
"Where did they go after they were banished?" asked Hope.
"No one knows where they are or what they up to, I heard that the guardians found them once, but they managed to get away." said Savage.
"You said that they were banished about sixteen years ago, and I turned sixteen not too long ago. I was told by my step parents that my real parents were attacked and killed by someone. Sparx do you think that Spyro and Cynder killed them?"
Sparx thought about what to tell her, when an idea came to mind. "I don't know, you would have to find them and ask them yourself."
"Well good luck with that, they could be anywhere by now." said Savage
"I have to at least try, to find them. I have to know what happened to my parents."
"Well I wish you the best of luck with that, but before you go looking for them, why don't I show you around the city?" Savage gestured.
"I don't know, I think it would be better to start looking for Spyro and Cynder now. Like you said, they could be anywhere, and this planet isn't very small. I should know I traveled across half of it."
"That is true but I doubt they would travel a lot with a whole city looking for them. Besides, it's only one day, we can look for them tomorrow morning."
"Excellent, then follow me so we may start the tour!" Savage exclaimed.
Night time at Warfang
After Savage finished the tour of Warfang, he decided to part from Sparx and Hope.
"It's getting pretty late, we should go find a place to sleep." suggested Hope.
"Let's head to the Temple, I'm sure the guardians will be kind enough to give us a room for the night" said Sparx
"How do you know they will let us stay there?"
"For one reason. It is because I single handedly save them from danger on a few occasions." said Sparx. In response, Hope to rolled her eyes. "No but in all seriousness, they are kind old dragons. I highly doubt they would turn us down."
The two of them then flew towards the Temple. When they reached it, they landed and started searching for one of the guardians. After a few minutes of searching they came across Vermello.
"Excuse me sir." said Sparx "Do you know where we might find one of the guardians?"
"I would happen to be one of the guardians. The name is Vermello what may I help you with?" said Vermello.
"Oh you must be that fire dragon that replaced Ignitus. My name is Sparx and this is Hope. Anyway, we were hoping that we could stay the night here."
"I'm afraid that I don't know if we have any rooms left, you would have to ask the Mole, behind the front desk, he would know. Just go down this hallway, take a right, then at the end of the hallway take another right and you should see it." Vermello directed.
"Ok, thank you for your time." said Hope.
Just as Hope and Sparx was about to leave, Vermello said "Before you go, I have to ask you something Hope. I can't help but feel like we have met some were before, have we met before?"
"Not that I know of, I have spent all of my life in the Swamps." said Hope.
"Okay, sorry troubling you." As Sparx and Hope rounded the corner, Vermello thought to himself, "I wonder, was she that egg that I… no she couldn't have been. No I don't think they would do that to their child, but still, I should keep a close eye on this dragon". Vermello then looked towards the moons and thought "He should arrive here in a few hours, he better not mess this up."
After Hope and Sparx went inside their room, they sat down, and started to chat.
"Hey Sparx how come you or mom and dad never told me about Spyro or Cynder or any of the adventures that you went on with them?" asked Hope.
"I'm sorry but I can't tell you." said Sparx.
"Oh come on. Not that excuse again." said Hope "You guys always say that every time I ask a question."
"That is not true." responded Sparx.
"Okay my bad, every time I ask about dragons, and when I asked about what I was. What is so wrong about knowing a bit more about what I am, where I come from, and who my real parents were?"
"Look, Hope… I can't tell you what you want to know, I swore I wouldn't tell. However, I'm curtain that when we find Spyro and Cynder, all will be explained."
"What do they have to do with anything, all I know about them is that they are strong, might possible be evil, and they might of killed my real parents."
"Just trust me on this, I know what I'm doing." said Sparx. "Now get some sleep. The earlier we wake up, the earlier we can go searching for them."
Inside the Temple later that night
Later that night a figure roamed the hallways in the temple, staying in the shadows, so it wouldn't be seen by the patrolling guards. The figure kept on searching until it found what it was looking for. Terrador's bed room. The figure opened the door as quickly and as quietly as possible so it wouldn't wake Terrador. The figure pulled a knife from behind its back, and continued to creep towards Terrador. The figure looked over the sleeping dragon, and couldn't help but smile at what he was about to do. The figure raised the blade above its head and swiftly brought it downward into Terrador's head, killing him quickly. The assassin then made its way back to the door. Upon exiting the assassin was spotted by a nearby patrol officer.
"What are you doing in Master Terrador bed chambers?" asked the mole as it pointed its spear at the assassin.
The assassin gave no response, and instead started to run down the hallway with the guard running after it. The guard began to blow his whistle to alert the other guards. It wasn't long until the assassin was cornered. The guards then noticed that the figure was an ape. The guards then took the ape into custody and put into a jail cell to await the guardian's judgment.
In the prison
In the cell, the ape sat with chains attached to his hands and feet, waiting for his interrogation. Just as he was about to fall asleep from the long wait, he heard claws scrap against the ground. The ape looked up to see Vermello, Volteer, and Cyril standing in front of his cell.
"And what do I own the honor to great the guardians at this time." asked the ape sarcastically.
"Be quiet, you little primate." said Cyril.
"We are here to ask you some questions." said Vermello.
"Well I don't think I have anything else to do today, wait one moment while I go check my calendar." said the ape with a grin on his face.
"How did you get here?" asked Volteer.
"Well you see, after I was caught, a few guards brought me here." said the ape before chuckling to himself.
"I mean, how come you are still alive, we thought all of the apes, were all killed after Malefor, was defeated." said Volteer, clearly irritated by the ape.
"All of the apes that were under Malefor's rule were killed after he changed them into those…things. However there were several colonies that didn't join Malefor." said the ape.
"Who hired you to kill Terrador?" asked Cryil.
"Well actually I was hired to kill the three of you as well, but that is beside the point." said the ape. "I was hired by the legendary purple dragon himself Spyro, and the Terror of the skies Cynder".
"Where are they hiding?" asked Vermello.
"How I am supposed to know I'm just a mercenary. They came to me and asked me to do them a little favor." said the ape.
"Well I think that is all we need to hear, guards take this ape to the gallows." said Vermello.
The ape's eyes grew wide, with fear. "What?!"
"For the murder of a guardian we sentence you to death." said Vermello calmly, as two of the guards took the chains off the wall and started to drag the ape across the hall and towards a pair of metal doors.
"BUT WE HAD A DEAL VERMELLO, I TOLD THEM WHAT YOU WANTED ME TO. YOU SAID YOU WOULD LET ME GO. YOU SON OF A BI…" yelled the ape before the doors closed. All they could hear were muffled screams from the ape now.
"What was that ape babbling about, Vermello" asked Volteer?
"I have no clue" said Vermello. "I can only presume that the ape trying to accuse me of hiring him."
"Well, you and Terrador, haven't seen eye to eye for a while know, so there is the possibility that…"
"You dare accuse me of murdering my best friend?" intruded Vermello. "Yes it is true we saw things differently, but do you honestly think I would kill him?"
"I do apologies Vermello, I didn't mean to accuse you of doing such a thing. I was simply pointing out that it is a little convenient is all." said Volteer
"Well next time Volteer, keep that big mouth of yours shut." said Cyril. "Anyways, what do we do now? Should we still go looking for Spyro and Cynder?"
"Yes I do believe we should. We need to find were they are and stopped them from doing any more harm." said Vermello.
"Before we search for them, we should tell the towns people of what happened. If what the ape said is true then we will need all the help we can get, to stop them and possibly an army of apes." said Cyril
"I think it would be best if we also ask for the help of the cheetahs as well. If I remember correctly Hunter became the new chief of the clan nearby, I'm sure he'll be willing to help." Volteer stated.
"Then it is settled then." Vermello said in relief. "Get some rest everyone; we have a busy day ahead of us."
I'm sorry if this chapter isn't all that good, but this was the best that I could think of. Seeing as I took so long to make this chapter I will give everyone a small hint on what will happen in the next chapter. Thanks to popular demand the next chapter will include The Chronicler.
