Chapter XI

You Are Not Insane; You Are Just In Need of a New Coat

He felt the rough blankets beneath his fingertips again. His heart clenched. Not this, not again, he thought desperately.

Everything goes in a circle, eh? Just can't escape it can ya?

Nico's hands shook he could feel his heart beating faster in his chest. It just kept speeding up.

Thump thump. Thump thump. Thump thump. Thump .thump. thumpthumpthump.

"Wait." The words slipped out of Nico's mouth.

Where's the beeping?

There is none.

Where is he?

Nico opened his eyes quickly. The old wooden ceiling swam above him. Nico quickly closed his eyes once ore and groaned softly. He was still in the house. It's not happening again.

Your lucky day.

First one in a while.

Nico exhaled through his nose. He was alright. Nothing bad-

"-Happened really." Nico's eyes shot opened, this time his vision clear. The psychologist, she's still here. Why?

Because you're sick, you've always have been.

Nico let out a puff of air. He turned his head to look around the room; no one was in the bland room, only white walls and old peeling doors. No one was in the room, but he could see her talking through the crack in the door.

"Nothing happened really?" Nico heard his father almost roar, the woman kept a calm face. "My son is going insane!" Nico could tell he tried to keep his voice down. But Nico could still hear him, loud and clear.

"Mr. Hades," Nico saw the woman speak in a calm but firm voice. She almost reminded his of his mother… or Bianca.

She's nowhere near those women, she's a no one who thinks she can give you medicine and everything will be better.

Nico's eyes started to fog up.

You're so weak.

No wonder your father actually think his son is going insa-

"You're son is not going insane." Nico blinked away the fog and peered at the woman. He could see her big eyes looking up at his father as well as sizing him up at the same time. "Yes, your son has problems, we all do. You are not even an exception Mr. Hades."

"Then what is wrong with him?" Nico's father nearly screamed.

Nico saw her blink her big eyes, her head shifted to the side, her hair following suit. She looks confused.

"Look at your son, Hades. Look at his life." The woman spoke harshly but gently.

Nico turned his head back up to the ceiling. The paint was peeling off the wood. It needed a new coat. Maybe he needed a new coat. Nico lifted his hands to his head and smiled for the first time in a long while.

A new coat.

I think that's good for now.

I hope you didn't expect a hospital scene again, kind of sick of righting those.
