Four months later...
At the fortress...
As I stood in front of every person in the room, I felt back at the palace. I was being promoted, for the fourth time. Glitch always laughed at the end and told me that before I had my break I would be a Corporal like Mirajane. She seemed so familiar, Mirajane, but I know I haven't seen her only here. Her white hair and deep comforting blue eyes, I don't know.
'Hey, Erz' called Glitch after the "ceremony".
I turned at her, 'Yes, Glitch?' her pink and yellow colored eyes looked at me as she took her brown hair of her mouth with a smile.
'I have a feeling, you know, that you should look for Neil, like, now' I always listened to her "feelings" as most were true. I nodded and walked to where the infirmary was.
The whole building was made out of dark brickwork. The infirmary itself had beds, not like the previous one that had blankets instead, or that's what I've been told.
Neil had broken a bone during a battle, so, now he was there, and he was told he would be sent home again, as he wasn't able to walk, this time for good.
I walked inside the infirmary and after walking quite the bit, I found Neil fighting with a sacerdotist about eating, her telling him not to, and him telling her he was starving. 'Neil!' I exclaimed, walking fastly towards him, I hated when he became a spoiled kid. He looked at me with some fear in his eyes and said,
'H-Hey, Erza! How are you?'.
'I'm sorry' I told the girl in orange suit, 'for his actions, you don't have to feed him if it's not the right time'
'But,' tried to protest Neil but couldn't as I shot him a glare. 'Okay, sorry'
The girl smiled and nodded, 'Alright!' she said as she walked away alittle jumpy.
'So... Another upgrade?' he said trying to make some conversation, sitting up.
'Yup.' I nodded, and changed the subject quickly, 'You are leaving, huh?' I said, sitting on his bed.
'Yes, Mavis bless the one who did this' he said, pointing at his leg, 'I think I've fell in love with that girl' he said, meaning the girl who had thrown him to the floor and stepped on his leg with all her strenght. 'Too bad you killed her, she'd made me a favor Erza!'
'She broke your leg brutally, Neil'
'She freed me from this hell' he muttured.
'Yeah, maybe I shouldn't have. But well, it's done.' I said, and looked around us after some silence between us.
When had I become so... Me? Since when didn't I care about people's life? They deserved to live as much as I did, didn't they? Glitch had many times told me I shouldn't think those things, or I would die because of it. Because of Guilt. Our main enemy had always been that. our own feelings about everything. Glitch told me the solution to that, the simple answer to our problems.
'Kill all emotion, Er. Or they'll kill you, take a look at me, who lets her emotions flow, I bet you don't want to be me ' she'd said, pointing at me with her scar full index finger, actually, not pointing at me, specifically at my heart. 'Glitch knows best, darling,' she'd said in third person, like the blunette I've met what felt ages ago. 'Mistakes are our best creations after all' she smiled, and her scars stood out as her different coloured eyes shone after winking at me. 'But shh, no one wants to know that' the same index finger she'd used to poke my chest she'd put it on her lips, a small creepy chuckle escaping them.
That day she'd talked so much, like there was no tomorrow, she'd made me smile most of the time, but of course, she'd been a little creepy. Seems like everyday she was a different person. Funny Glitch, serious Glitch, silent Glitch, sarcastic Glitch, depressive Glitch, angry Glitch, talkative Glitch, and creepy Glitch. There were a lot more, but those are her main persons. That day she'd been serious Glitch. The day I'd first met her she'd been serious and sarcastic Glitch.
She'd said kill all emotion, but that was all what she was, pure and different emotion per day.
'Erza?' suddenly said Neil, waking me up from my trance.
'Yes?'
'The sacerdotist' he pointed at the girl behind me, 'she kinda wants to go through, you know'
'Oh, sorry!' I apologyzed and moved. She nodded in gratitude and walked through, a slight amuzed smile on her small heart-shaped mouth.
'Thank you' she said formally after having gone through.
I hit Neil, 'Why didn't you tell me before?' I hissed.
'Wha-? I just told you!'
'How long has she been waiting?'
'Not so long! Is that you kinda were looking at her so I thought you just were being rude'
'I'm not rude!'
'Well, maybe you are having some personality changes like Glitch' he shrugged, 'Everyone gets a little mad here, did you hear about the sacerdotist who killed herself after her best friend died in battle?'
'No'
'Well, she was really nice, she actually was the angel I told you about the day we met'
'Which one?'
'The one who killed herself, but I suspect she actually didn't do that, she didn't seem the suiciding kind, unlike you when I met you'
'You know what actually happened'
'So I'm the only one who knows? Or have you told Glitch?'
'Told me what?' said Glitch walking in, a serious looking face. Her scars seemed invicible that day as her piercing strange-looking eyes stared at us. 'You are hiding me things, Er?' she said, that's when I realized it wasn't serious day, it was creepy day. 'But I thought we were friends!' she said childly, coming closer really slowly.
'Fuck' muttured Neil, also realized what I had.
'What was that, Neil? I'm not fond of bad words, you know...' she smiled, her look one of a mad woman now. 'But... I'm into bad things, or those considered bad' she laughed, 'but you know, it's all relative. Why is it "bad" to brutally and cruelly torture and then kill someone, huh? How do we know, that it isn't "good" to think that blood and death are beautiful?' she said, not so many steps away from us.
'Glitch..' I said slowly, hoping to calm her down.
'Because, I think they are pre-tty' when she said pre-, she leaned her head to the left, and when -tty to the right, then slowly put her head back to the usual place. 'Ve-ry Pre-tty' she said, doing the same thing, and then taking a scalpel from an opperation table that'd been left by the sacerdotist from before and cut her index finger, then the ring finger, then her thumb, then her little finger, then the middle finger, all of them dripping blood. I looked around me, asking myself where was the sacerdotist, but they were taking care of someone else, who was shouting. She then cut her right hand fingers, not even flinching, and walked closer to us, her hands bleeding. 'Don't you think, Er, that life isn't as precious as everyone else says?' she said looking at her hands that she'd risen like she wanted to touch the ceiling.
'Gli, please' said Neil, looking at her crazy looking eyes.
'SHUT UP NEIL!' she shouted, and then said softly with a small smile, 'I'm talking to my friend, or so I thought, Erza' moving her hands slightly, in a rythmic movement. She started laughing non-stop.
This wasn't creepy Glitch, it was mad Glitch.
It was rare to see her this way, and I think it was the first time I'd seen her like that, then it'd been four times more, but in those times I knew what to do, now, I didn't.
'Glitch, want to talk with me?' I said softly, standing up, her being two steps away from me.
She smiled a big toothy grin, and nodded chidly, 'Yes!' she said happily.
'Okay, come on, let's go, but first, leave the scalpel where you found it'
Her look darkened, 'Oh, is that so...? I don't want to be unarmed, Erza.' she said softly, holding the small knife with great strenght, the color of her hand going away. 'I don't want to, I don't want to!' she backed up, and I took a step closer. 'GET AWAY!' she shouted pointing the knife at me, in the corner of my eye I saw a nurse coming closer to the scene, as silent as she could.
'Glitch, it's not polite to point sharpened things at people' she looked down, and her hair shadowed her wonderful and strange eyes.
She nodded, 'O-Okay, b-but' she said, her voice trembling. 'I-I, Finn,' she said, looking up, and she had tears on her eyes, 'Don't leave me unprotected, I-I'm scared' she backed again. 'I'm scared' she sobbed.
My heart stopped when I saw how broken she really was. This was the only personality who showed actual fear. She showed all her emotions, her enemies.
Her eyes widened as the sacerdotist inyected her anesthesia, she gasped and looked at me with a feeling of betrayal in her eyes.
'F-Finn' she mutured as her eyes closed, tears still falling down her cheeks.
If feelings had made her that way, maybe she was right.
I should kill all my enemies and emotions.
In a town, far, far away from Magnolia...
(A/N: *Smiles*)
As I stood next to Lucy, who was searching for some cat medicine for Happy (after me insisting so much) I saw someone really suspicious. Me and Lucy suspicious.
The girl (her bust incriminating her), was wearing something familiar as Luce had the day I met her and the day we left town, a black hoodie, black pants, and some trainers. She had a familiar smell, so it made me way much more intrigued about her.
'Hey, Cel?' I said, calling Luce by her fake name, with a fake believable ancent.
'Yes, Sal?' she turned at me, her fake green eyes looking at my fake blue ones, (potion thingy), also with her own fake ancent.
'I'm leaving for just a sec, alright? I'll be back in a minute and a half, maybe two minutes' she nodded.
'Alright, I'll have the medicine for our dog in four looking at the line' we'd searched a medicine that worked for both dogs and cats, so the lie would be believable.
'Okay, see ya!' I said, and walked outside, and realized the girl wasn't there, well, she was walking. I looked around me, and saw a glimpse of her black hoodie. I walked fast towards the mysterious girl, trying to indentify the familiar smell of hers. It wasn't Cheria, that was for sure. I'd seen her way too many times not to identify her. I arrived near enough to tap on her shoulder, and she turned around.
It was just breathtaking to see her after so long.
'You...?' I was able to say.
'Excuse, how may I help you?' she said with her soft voice, so sweet and warm. Her blue eyes looked at me confused after seeing my reaction. But then she blinked twice and looked at me closer, 'Nat..su?' she whispered, coming closer, taking her hoodie off.
Her white short hair was free, and Lissanna smiled brightly.
I was about to smile back, but then everything came back at me, 'What in hell are you doing here?!' I whispered-shouted.
'Let me explain somewhere else, alright?' she said, looking around us, the crowd who kept walking like nothing was happening.
'No, not now' I said, remembering what I'd tell Luce just some moments back. 'Can you do it at night? Right now I'm busy'
'Doing what?' she snorted.
'Ehrm, not your business?' I said, and walked away, but stopped a moment before Lissanna tapped on my shoulder like I had. 'At eight thirty, right here, don't make me wait one minute longer, alright?' I said, then walked faster, I took a glimpse back and saw her walking away to the other side.
When I walked inside the pet shop, Lucy was walking away from the line, 'Wanna guess who wasn't on the time they'd said?' she said, covering her eyes from the clock on the wall, listening to her fake accent was weird, but fun.
'I bet you did' I said in my own acent.
'I bet you did' she repeated in her represention of my accent and voice, I chuckled and she smiled, 'Okay, one, two, three!' she looked up, and saw the clock. 'Ow, it was you!' she said, and then poked my chest. 'So, what did you do?' she asked, and we walked out of the store, after she waved goodbye.
'I met with Nashiro' I said, the code name for Lissanna. She nodded slightly. As we walked side by side, we went towards the cheap hotel (that didn't ask for anything except for the money) we were staying in, which we decided that we would pretend to be a couple so not to spend so much money in two different rooms, even if we still had plenty.
'Oh, yeah? What was she doing here?'
'Well, she said she wanted to tell me somewhere else, so we are meeting tonight'
'Tonight...?'
'Yup' I said, took her hand as we walked inside the hotel.
'But, you know, it isn't safe' she said not even glancing at our holding hands, something we decided to be "romantic" and "couple-like".
'Do you think some simple bandits can take with me?' I asked, a bit offended, deep down not, feeling a little happy because she worried about me.
'No, Sal. It's just, you know, I don't... trust... ehm, her' she said, as we walked upstairs.
'You think she can take with me?' more than indigned.
'No, silly... I don't know, but don't go' she said, actual concern on her voice.
'Luce, I have to go'
'Sadly, you do' she sighed, and then she had a grin on her face.
'Déjà vu' I said, and she chuckled.
'I was going to say that!' she said and took the key of the room, opening the door.
'Why can't I have the keys?' I asked childly.
'Ehm, I don't know, I like holding them, it feels right' she said, then shrugged.
'That sounds like a ridiculous excuse'
'Yup,' she said, before opening the door and entering, running to jump on the bed. 'I'll sleep for while' she yawned, after jumping one more time and fall laying down on the bed, that was extremely comfortable for such cheap hotel.
'Whaaaat?' I walked closer, 'Noo...' I walked to the bed and stood in front of her.
'I'm tiiiiired' she whined. I stood up on the bed.
'No sleeping!' I said, and I started jumping on the bed, it making a lot of noise.
'Natsu!' she whispered-shouted.
'Come on!' I whispered back. She smiled a cute grin and stood up with my help, and then I jumped and she jumped too. We laughed and jumped (that reminded me of our childhood, when we jumped on her parents bed), until she fell to the bed and said,
'Good night!' with a small smile.
'No...' she turned at me and I knew it was too late, she was sleeping.
I looked at the clock on the wall, it was quarter past eight. I jumped off the bed and walked outside the hotel, after the man standing behind the desk winked at me.
'Alright...' I said and walked to the meeting spot with Lissanna.
When I got there, she was standing there, waiting.
I walked faster and she turned to look at me, a big smile on her face, that made me go a step back.
It wasn't one of those smiles she had when we saw each other when we were kids, no, it was one of those when she got what she wanted.
That smile I had seen two years ago.
I walked back, and saw her lips move but heard no word. Two men walked into the scene, and I started running, as fast as I could.
Lucy had been right, again. Enemies are not to be trusted.
At Blue Pegasus section...
I stood there, nothing going on.
It was just so weird being there I wasn't used to it even now, four months later.
I looked around me, the place we were in was supposed to be our headquaters, but it seemed like a freaking palace in here. Not like the fortress back in Fairy Tail's section, an actual and fucking palace. I felt so out of place here. Like a snowflake in the freaking desert.
I just sighed and sat down on the crappily awesome bed I had. An. Actual. Bed.
You don't understand how wrong it all felt.
I laid down on the bed, and tapped on my chest. Nothing, absolutely nothing happened here. I mean, it wasn't like I missed battles, but, I was used to them, and it was just strange, I couldn't wait more for those remaining weeks to happen and I could have my rest (THEY SAID REST HERE! REST! FUCKING. REST.).
I tapped on my chest, and some memories I didn't remember until then ran inside my mind,
'Sh...' said with a smile a girl, she had brown hair, and different coloured eyes, she was older than Gray, just for a few years, not more than five. People looked at her with a strange feeling on their chest all the time, but he liked her, she was fun. 'Wait just one second, alright?' She was visiting his hometown, the week his town was burnt down, and that day, was the day. It was night time, and he wouldn't be able to see her if it wasn't for the farol's a few metres away.
Gray nodded, a little bit relunctanctly as he didn't like being ordered around. She walked to take a glimpse away from the dead end alley we were standing on.
'Okay, okay' she said, at that time there was no fun on her voice. She breathed in and then out slowly, and managed a smile, 'Look, let's play a game, alright?' she offered.
'Okay!'
'Alright,' she sighed again. 'Alright. This is the game, we have to go to the other street, in complete silence, as fast of possible, the one who makes a sound loses, and we have to stay in the shadows all the time, okay? And, you can never look backwards, or... game over' she explained the rules. He accepted them, and the challenge of this new game she had just invented.
She took his hand and sighed to calm herself down, Gray looked at her, she shouldn't be so nervous, it was just a game, right?
'Right?' I said softly to myself. 'Just... a game'
She held tightly to his hand, and started walking fastly next to him, breathing fastly and trying to calm herself desesperately.
What was her so scared about? He broke the rules of the game.
He looked back.
And when he did, oh, how much he regretted it.
'M-Mom?' he pronounced, and Gillian looked at him, her eyes widened as she realized what he'd done.
The people who were holding his beaten up mother let her fall to the ground as they turned at the couple of kids, not seeing them very well. 'N-No! You promised!' his mother said, and Gillian didn't seem to know if she was talking to her or to the men, but she would keep her promise.
She put herself in front of the raven haired confused boy, and whispered, almost not moving her lips, 'Run, Gray, Run!' he did as told, as she screamed to cover his hurried steps. He had to tell Dad, he had to tell Dad.
'But he wasn't there, wasn't him?' I commented to my own memories.
Before he even arrived home, the fire had started. But he pushed himself to find Dad, tell him all about what'd happened to Mom.
He opened the door rushly, but...
He wasn't anywhere to be found. 'Maybe he was also caught?'
'No, little Gray... He wasn't'
'Who wasn't?' suddenly said someone who was entering my room, (I HAD A FUCKING ROOM OF MY OWN! HOW IS THAT EVEN FUCKING POSSIBLE?!).
'Not your bussiness' I sat up and looked at the young man in front of me, Hibiki I don't know what. I absolutely did not like this guy.
'Well, Fullbuster,' he said, walking inside. 'Leader Bob is calling for you', he ran his hand through his brownish blond hair.
'What? Why?'
'Don't know' he said simply.
I sighed heavily and stood up, murmuring 'Fucking Hibiki and his fucking argh', he didn't hear me, or pretended not to, as I pushed him out of my room and closed the door behind me. I started walking towards the room where Bob was. No idea if Hibiki was following me or not, because I didn't care.
I stood in front of the room, not wanting to go in. 'Come on' I said to myself, I knocked the door and an inmediate 'Come in!' was heard from the other side of wall. I hesitated before opening the door at last. Suddenly I felt those big arms around me almost leaving me without breathe, all I could think was Not Again. After being liberated, I gasped for some air.
'Leader Bob, you asked for me?' I asked as he walked back where he usually sat down.
'Oh, indeed I did' he said with that weird female like voice he has.
'And...?' I said.
'Well, I wanted to inform you, Gray, I'll send you to another mission' he said, sitting down, serious mode on.
'Oh, yeah?' I said, leaning on a wall, 'What kind of mission?'
'A rescate one. It'll take some days, as the place is quite far.'
'Uhm, I guess it's okay, only me? Or is it a group mission?'
'Two sacerdotists and two other soldiers will join you' he explained.
'Okay, who are we rescuing?'
'Let me think, let me think' he said, a finger on his chin. I stood there, seeing him remember. 'I think there were four kidnapped girls from one of Fairy Tail's archers sections, their leader included' my heart started beating furiously as posibilities appeared on my mind.
'You wouldn't know their names?!' I said, almost shouting. 'I'm sorry, wouldn't you know their names?' I said, trying to calm down after the look he gave me.
'I'm sorry, I don't'
'I take the mission' I said too quickly.
He clapped his hands 'Great!' he said happily, 'The ones who will be joining you are, Jenny Realight, Hibiki Lates, who both are sacerdotists, Ren Akatsuki and Eve Tearm' In my mind I was already face-palming.
Just great... I thought.
But my dissapointment didn't last much as thoughts of Juvia being kidnapped (again, but this time not by me) were filling my mind with worries.
'May I leave now?'
'Yes, of course'
I left the room, closed the door, and sighed. Just what I needed I thought, and crushed with my new mission partner, Hibiki, who was laughing on his insides.
'How did it went, "partner"?' he laughed, I glared at him and walked to my room.
After laying down again, thoughts of my past run through my head again.
'You are monster! A fucking monster! Understood?! You are EVIL! Born from EVIL, you don't deserve to live!' people shouted at someone not so far from where Gray was standing. He heard crying and sobbing, but he could not see who was being bullied in the middle of that crowd. His mother had many times told him to stay away from those crowds, those who hurted people, but telling someone they didn't deserved to live was not right, he was about to tell them to stop when he heard 'You are the cause that town was burnt down!' a male voice shouted. He stopped his tracks, if that person was the reason his people died, then...
He walked into the crowd, decided to tell that person what he thought about what he or she had done some months ago, that thing that had left him orphan (or so he thought back then).
And there she stood, who had been his best friend for a week.
Gillian.
She was crying trying to tell them she hadn't done any of those things, lying on the floor, when she saw him, staring atonishingly at her, not sure to believe what those people were saying or not.
'Gray' she mouthed, tears on her eyes and rolling down her soft, without scars, cheeks.
'You...?' he said, backing away, people started looking at him. 'But- But you saved me..' he said, now knowing that the game she had invented was only a matter of him getting away. 'Did you do that out of mere cruelty?' he asked.
She shook her head with despair in her look, 'No, no! I wouldn't do such thing!' she said, suddenly the world only consisted of both of them, standing a few metres away, only that it felt like she was miles away.
'They were afraid of you' he said, meaning the people in town.
'No, not me! My father! I didn't do anything! Please, Gray! You have to believe me!' she said, standing up, something Gray wasn't able to see threw her down to the floor, not letting her come closer to the eleven-year old.
'You are who you are' he said, a huge feeling of warth on his not grownth chest.
'I am... I'm not my father' she said, still sobbing, and looking around her in fear.
'No, you are his daughter'
'Please, Gray' she said, crying, she looked completely terrified of the people around her, who only meant bad to her. 'Don't leave me alone'
'You made me leave the first time, now I'll leave on my own' he said, turning around, not daring to even glance at the girl who had his parents killed.
I looked at the ceiling. She hadn't done anything...
And yet I treated her like my biggest enemy.
I barely remember her, but I feel like that hadn't been the last time I'd seen her.
When I remembered the mission I was entrusted. I sighed once more, 'You better be okay, Juvia'
((A/N: Guys! Lissanna is a bitch! But she seemed so nice some chapters ago! What happened two years ago anyway? Well, my darlings, you'll have to wait like two chapters to know so. And Gray, I mean, has Juvia been kidnapped?! GRAY WAS ANOTHER BITCH AS A KID?! Poor Glitch. And, in case you did not understand what happened, a small summary of his memories. Okay, he was a super happy kid, Glitch and her parents (daddy is a super mafia guy) came to his town, her dad had a tantrum and burned his town, Glitch had promised Gray's mother she'll keep him safe, so she did, but she liked (friendly like) Gray. And well, blah blah blah, Ul adopted him, and he lived in Magnolia. He re-met Glitch, who was being bullied by some horrible adults, and he did not help her, as he believed what they had said. Then, some years later! He meets with Glitch, crying over Finn (he doesn't recognize her, as he kinda supressed the memory, until now). Then re-meets with her in the battle you all saw. Of course, she remembers him, clearly and perfectly, but isn't mad with him, I certainly would...))
((E.A/N: Okay guys, about the fake names (Natsu's POV)! These names are just in case someone is eavesdropping, and they say their own names or names of people they know, and well, just a precaution they smartly decided to make, and I enjoy a lot. So, in case you did not understand why each name, here I'll explain those I've, I mean, they've named.
Natsu = Sal: Well, this is quite obvious.. it isn't? Well, Salamander, Sal... I guess you've got the point. And for those who've played Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea, you understand my hate towards the name.
Lucy = Cel = short for Celeste: Celeste means light blue in spanish, but sounds similar to Celestial, and well, she's a Celestial mage, and well, you understand.
Lissanna = Nashiro: This is because of her white hair, and Shiro means white in japanese in case you didn't know. Nashiro is the female name for those who like naming their children for colours in japanese, for example: Kurona for (female) Black, Akame is directly Red, Aoi for Blue, etc.
Happy = Dog/Felix: Felix is the name I used for my first fan-fic, "A Cat in Love" when Happy decided to use other name, it is an actual name (Felix), and it's close to Feliz, that is Happy in spanish.
Until they name more people I'll keep explaining why.))
((P.S.: Review guys! It makes me reeeeaaallyyyy happy! :) Annnnd that was Chapter eleven: Enemies, for you guys! Love ya!))
