Nicholas POV
I felt sick to my stomach. The guilt was the obvious culprit of my constant pain. A long moment after Solange stormed out of the house it began to eat away at me and I couldn't take it anymore. I went after her.
Before reaching Sol's shed (although it looked like a mix between a cabin and a barn) I stopped. Maybe I shouldn't just barge in. She probably need time to vent and break something before I tried talking to her.
Pacing in the cold night air, I cursed. "What the hell have I done?" I stopped stalling and braced myself. Hand on the door handle, I paused: I heard nothing inside.
Inside, a lantern casted a soft glow and Sol's Iphone was discarded on her small work table. I searched everything for the signs of a struggle but nothing came out at me.
Solange was gone.
I burst out of the shed and froze when a figure darted in between the trees in my peripheral. One, two, five, six in total that I could see from where I was. I tried to nonchalantly walk back to the house.
Three things came across my thoughts:
Solange was missing.
Warn the others.
Protect them by all means necessary.
Hours later:
Solange POV
Meanwhile we raced back home, I couldn't stop crying.
Lucy's safe. She's here and she's safe.
Sebastion's phone rang and the shrill sound cut through my sniffles. Lucy was breathing faintly and she could barely keep her eyes open. My heart was beating out of my chest.
"Lucy, honey, don't sleep. C'mon stay awake." I was barely aware of Sebastion's conversation as Lucy stirred and opened her eyes slightly. "Good girl."
Sebastion drove even faster as the driveway came into sight. He quickly moved near the house and parked as all the boys got moving. Flinging my door open, Logan held Lucy bridal style and I numbly followed as quickly as I could.
The rest of them flanked Logan, Lucy and I in a strategic position mom had taught us. I had jokingly called it Turtle Squad because they all tightly moved in a square shape meaning to protect whoever stood inside. I didn't question them as I had began to see piles of ashes on the large expanse of grass in front of the house.
Inside, Logan rushed to lay Lucy on the couch and my mom rushed over. She did a basic check of Lucy's condition and she nodded as she assessed my needle work.
"This will do for now. Solange you need to tell me EXACTLY what happened as soon as you left the property." Everyone's gazes were on me as I rushed to explain. When I was finished I took a breath and then realized Nicholas and Marcus weren't with us.
"Where's Nick and Marcus? And what happened when I was gone?"
"We were attacked. Don't look so alarmed, everyone's fine and although we're taking major precautions, I'm positive we're safe. It was a group of Host, however it was only seven of them. Easy for our numbers. Your brothers went out to scope the woods and find you on foot if you weren't near the road."
Speaking of them, Nick and Marcus barged through the doors. Nicholas, no doubt he caught Lucy's scent, bee lined for the couch.
"Thank God." he breathed quietly and the growing worry and tension that had built since Lucy was taken erased itself from his body. Lucy stirred and she groaned.
"Alright we need to get her to the hospital. If she was in an accident Lucy will need medical attention just in case." My mom's gaze softened looking at Nicholas clutching Lucy's hands and then she went back to business. "Lucy, love, how are you feeling?" she asked.
Lucy only groaned again. "She's probably too disoriented right now. We need to go." Nick said worryingly.
My mother immediately grabbed what she needed and nodded at Nick and I. Nicholas carried Lucy as we hurried to the Jeep and we sped off in the direction of Violet Hill General Hospital.
After getting immediate attention in the ER, Lucy was whisked away by doctors along with my mom. Meanwhile I filled Nick in on how I found Lucy a nurse showed up. We had been waiting for twenty minutes before she escorted us to a small room where we were told Lucy was. Upon entering, my mom was signing papers and Nicholas sat down next to Lucy's bed.
"Thank you, doctor. We'll call for a nurse if she needs something." The doctor nodded before leaving us all alone with Lucy.
"What are we dealing with?" I asked.
"No major injuries besides the cuts and bruises. The CAT scan showed no sign of internal bleeding or trauma but they want to keep her here for a night just in case. She's really okay. Cass and Stuart are flying in tomorrow night."
Nicholas rested his head on Lucy's white bed sheets and sighed. "What are we going to do? Her parents are coming and Lucy was kidnapped. We can't just let them take her. And why was she in the woods? What the hell did she go through?" His voice was tortured and I felt sick to my stomach.
"We'll have to wait until she gets better. She can tell us anything she remembers. After that we search the ends of the Earth before we let whoever did this to her live." Mom answered, determined.
Before any of us could respond, Lucy's quiet gasp startled us. Her eyes were lighter than her usual dark brown as she analyzed all of us.
"Where am I?" she asked weakly. Raising her head, Lucy's gaze landed on Nick. Her eyes flitted to me and Helena.
"Lucy you're in the hospital. You were in an accident." I said.
"What about my parents? Where are they?" she asked nervously.
"They're on their way honey. You just rest and get better, alright?" I started blinking tears from my eyes and my voice wavered. "For now, we won't leave you alone. Ha, you thought my brothers were protective before? Now you have seven of them and me watching you like a hawk."
My tears flowed steadily now as I forced out a laugh. "I'm so sorry, Luce. I'm sorry. Oh God, I'm so glad you're okay." I was sobbing by then and my mom wrapped her arms around me.
"I'm sorry too?" Lucy said and she looked alarmed as Nicholas held her hand.
"What do you mean? This wasn't at all your fault Lucy. It's mine. I was the one who couldn't protect you. I promise that for the rest of my life I'll be making it up to you, Lucky." Nicholas confessed as he kissed her hand.
"O-kay. This is officially weird. Who are you people?" Lucy asked, dead serious as she pushed the emergency nurse button near her bed.
So...thanks for reading! SORRY! I love to keep ya'll on your toes ;) So next chapter will be in Lucy or Solange's perspective. I'm not sure yet it's still in the works. Sorry for the short chapter, I wanted to post something for all the recent reviews and all that because I really am grateful.
