A/N: if you guys start throwing tomatoes at me I would totally be ok with that. I've had that is chapter done for like a week or two, but my beta is off on vacation and I didn't wanna rush her with reading the chapter before I posted or anything. so I didn't upload anything...yah...
but it's up now so read on!
(it hasn't been beta'd so sorry for mistakes)
Kagome POV:
I've been riding for what seems like days, when will this village pop up?' I thought sadly. I rode for a day straight, so the village should come up soon, but so far I have seen nothing but trees and the occasional hot spring. I haven't even seen Sesshomaru, and Daichi had me believing that he would come for me immediately, so that has had me on edge for a while. But what is really upsetting me is the fact that I didn't bring my book bag! 'It has everything I needed! Kami how could I be so stupid?' the logical part of me knew that I would have never had enough time to grab it before I started my exploration of the castle, but still, it had everything.
But more importantly, what am I going to do with myself? On one hand I want to return to the future as soon as possible, but on the other, I kind of want to stay just so I can annoy Sesshomaru for as long as possible.
'Decisions, Decisions. I think I'll just keep him looking for me, after I rest at the village; I will go on to Kaede's village and just village hop from there. Now that I think about it, I think her village was pretty close to Sesshomaru's mansion.' So it's settled, I'll annoy him by having him come and search for me!
'Maybe this day will be a good day after all.' Now all I need to do is find that-
"Kagome? Is that really you?"
'Or maybe not.'
"Hello Miroku, you wouldn't happen to be able to point me in the direction of the nearest village would you?"
Miroku POV:
One year, it's been exactly one year since the companion I once called my sister, left us shortly after the birth of my daughter. We often wondered why she left; she never told us why, she just said that it was time for her to move on, that her duty as the Shikon Miko was fulfilled and she wished us well. Sango suspected it had something to do with Inuyasha, but I wasn't sure. Why would she leave simply because of him? I thought she was over him; apparently not, according to Sango.
But Sango slowly accepted it, she came to understand that we would probably never see kagome again; she understood that Inuyasha and Kikyo will probably still get married within the next month or so, and over everything else, she understood that our child will more than likely never meet her dear aunt, that all she will have of kagome are the stories that we tell her. And because we know that kagome may never return, the village and we decide to pay tribute to her in some way, for all the good she's done. So that is what I am doing now, going into the woods to find the perfect spot for our tribute to her.
I certainly didn't expect to run into her.
"You want the nearest village? Kaede's is only a few minutes east…" I responded a little dumbfounded, why would she want to go to a village? Unless…does this mean she is here to stay?
"Thanks Miroku! Buh bye!" she rushed out and began turning to head east when I ran in front of the horse.
"Wait! Kagome, uh, if you like, you can stay in the hut that I, Sango and our daughter live in." She can't possibly be just be passing by right? After a year?
"….I don't think that's best Miroku…"
"Well why? Surely you need a place to stay, and Sango misses you. If you really have to go, could you at least stay for a night and explain to us why?" I asked with desperation in my voice, my stomach knotted up at just the thought of Sango's face when she saw kagome. Part of me knows that she will be happy beyond doubt, but there's a smaller, darker part of me that knows that Sango will be angry beyond belief, and if that happens, there's no telling how this could go down.
"Why what?" she asked, she started looking around, searching for something, or someone. But that's impossible; who would she go to first? We are her family so we should be the first that knows of her return, right?
Right?
"Why you left obliviously! Kami kagome, everyone was worried sick! We thought you hated us, or that you truly no longer desired to be in our era anymore! Sango was hell bent on killing inuyasha for a month! A year, kagome! A whole year without a single peep from you, and you honestly don't know what I meant when I asked you to explain why! Really?" As soon as the words were out of my mouth, guilt stabbed at me from all sides and my eyes widened as did hers, I normally don't raise my voice.
'I can't believe I just said all of those things, I hadn't meant to explode. Kami I hope I didn't just drive her away.'
"Kagome I'm—"
"Miroku, there's no need. You're absolutely right, I did leave, but not for the reason you think, I will come back to your hut and explain everything." She spoke calmly and softly, a hint of sadness in her voice. I hadn't meant to hurt her so.
"Very well. This way"
Back at the mansion:
Sesshomaru sat at his desk, anger rolling off him in waves, only a complete idiot would even attempt to speak to him while he is in such a shape. His marks on his cheeks were ragged and long, his fangs were constantly cutting his lower lip, and his eyes were shifting from blood red, back to his normal bright yellow/orange color. He was just barely keeping his beast at bay.
This apparently had no effect on his father because he came barging in as if he still owned the place, the silliest smile upon his face, his long silver hair was tied in a ponytail atop his head, and he was wearing a plain red hakama with a plain black haori.
"Come on, cheer up pup! So she escaped, big deal, you could probably still catch her scent—how ever dull it may be—and catch her, and bring her back. Maybe this time you should chain her to your bed to keep her from going anywhere, eh?" he laughed out, all the while wiggling his eyebrows in a lewd way.
"This Sesshomaru does not go and fetch a human. She will come back, and she will be punished, obliviously giving her an abundance amount of work was not enough."
Sesshomaru growled out, his voice strained with the effort he is using to keep the beast in the back of his mind, instead of letting it loose unto the world.
"Do you honestly think she is going to come back? She is a strong-willed woman; she is surely on her way back to whatever far off village you captured her from. And what do you plan on doing when you say you will 'punish' her? You are not thinking of hitting a woman are you?" his father asked, starting to get slightly upset at the thought of his eldest son putting his hands on a woman in a harmful matter.
"This Sesshomaru has had enough of the human disobeying him. She needs to be taught a lesson, she needs to be punished." He growled out, his anger increasing.
"And how do expect to even get to her, hmm? You refuse to go after her yourself, and you refuse to have any of your servants even look at her. So how do you intend to get her? You know she is not coming back. No human—or demon –in their right mind would." All playfulness was gone from his voice as he stared down his son. The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Daichi came in then, bowing slightly to Sesshomaru's father and Sesshomaru himself in greeting.
"Mi lord, the human kagome has escaped as you know; however, I do not think you know of how she was able to leave the mansion at such a speed." Daichi paused for a moment to allow the lord to comprehend what he was saying; he knew how Sesshomaru could get with his beast so close to coming out.
"Tell me." He growled out, and Daichi knew that after he reveled what he knew, Sesshomaru was going to hunt Kagome down and bring her back, despite his pride. And Daichi couldn't wait he knew how fun humans were with their antics and he knew his friend needed a twist in his life.
"Mi lord, she left by taking your favored white war horse, she has headed east." Daichi could barely contain his grin when Sesshomaru's eyes went completely blood red and he let out a deafening roar.
"Mi lord, would you like me to—"
Daichi never got a chance to finish his sentence. One second he was watching a growling Sesshomaru, the next he was flying through the air, shards of glass falling with him.
He had been thrown out of the office window.
Daichi landed on his back, shards of glass falling on him, and around him, cutting him in multiple places. He knew the Sesshomaru was going to be angry, but he wasn't expecting to feel that wrath first-hand. He slowly turned his head just in time to see Sesshomaru running into the forest, eyes blazing and lips curled into a feral growl, ready to tear down anything in his path.
So what does a demon do when his best friend who also just so happens to be his lord throws him out of a three story window?
He rolls over and takes a nap of course.
