As a quick note-

Spacelady2012 was very close thinking the monster is Alex, but it is not him. Let me say it does have something to do with him, but that comes later.

Dionysus Park

Alpha didn't make a sound as he moved from room to room. The electricity in Rapture was faulty as it was, but now whatever Alpha was hunting was leaving this area in the dark. One big problem that was obvious was he really didn't know how not to give away with his glowing green porthole. For all Alpha knew the thing could be right above him and he would never know. Alpha stopped and looked above him, but only saw the muck and grime of the city. What did I expect… to find it trailing me in the dark? Alpha heard some shuffling ahead of him and shot a fireball where the sound came from. The attack illuminated the area around it as it flew to the end of the hall. Alpha caught the sight of whatever made the sound duck into a large hole in the wall he was using to guide him. The brother ran toward it and dove in holding another fireball at the ready. Alpha stood in a large room with book shelves as high as the ceiling. The protector scanned the room for any movement or potential threat. Alpha cautiously made his way in, but found the many different books and pages scattered around the floor difficult to stay silent. This library was larger than he first thought as he made his way toward a large wooden circular desk. Stairs to the right lead to another floor above and ahead of him was another wing. A crackle of crushed paper came from the center stopping Alpha from his advance. He picked up a large book from the ground and lit it with his Incinerate. The faint light from the burning book gave Alpha enough to see as he jumped forward and turned midair landing on his feet and grabbed what hid behind the desk. Alpha held on to a dirty dress shirt and came face to ugly face with a terrified splicer. The glow from Alpha's porthole highlighted every single twisted feature on what could barely be considered a face anymore. This wasn't what I was meant to find, Alpha thought.

The splicer thrashed in Alpha's grip attempting to break free. He attempted to pry open Alpha's fingers from his shirt, but they wouldn't budge. The splicer breathed heavily "Let me go I have to get out of here!" Alpha saw the scared look in his eyes just as the book finally burnt out. Alpha dropped the splicer and watched as he scrambled to his feet and ran out of the library in the direction of the main entrance. He leaned on the desk with his arm contemplating where he should look next for this so called threat. He wasn't usually one to brag, but whatever he was looking for couldn't be as strong as him. Then again that Alpha Series did do a number on him, It was more bad luck than skill that he got me, he thought. A scream from the direction the splicer ran off too was silenced as soon as it came. Alpha used his arm as leverage and threw his legs over the table and kept low to the ground. He remained still and focused all his senses on the area around him. An almost inaudible sound much like the sound of a rat caught his attention. It came from the entrance of the library as far as he could tell, which left him with the make shift exit on the wall, the extra wing of the library and the second floor. He had a basic layout of this place, but it would have been better if he had time to get a better view of the place and take note of what was soon to be a battleground. The pitter patter in the ceiling stopped, prompting Alpha to charge up his fireball. He stood tall and fired the attack in the location the sound had stopped. As the fireball exploded when it made contact and lit up the area for a few seconds, Alpha was for the first time feeling fear. He jumped out of the way as the creature landed where he once stood. Rapture had thrown many challenges at him, but he would be sure that he was the one to come out on top just like so many times before.

Big Sister shot a fireball into a room with a single working light bulb. She had followed what she believed were Alpha's boot prints, but had lost track of them a while back. His trail was distinctive from any other trail, but at some point, it just vanished. Big Sister was confident of her tracking skills, but it does become difficult if her target is another protector like herself. Odd that Alpha would spend so much time staying with her then suddenly do the opposite at a moment's notice. She wondered if the state the park was falling into had anything to do with this. It was possible, but that meant Alpha left to deal with the problem himself. Big Sister was not a liability; in fact she will dispose of this danger herself. Maybe he is trying to protect you… Big Sister punched herself seeing if that would knock the voice out, Shut up! Shut up! If this keeps up Big Sister might actually have to go to the lab and force them to cut out the part of her brain where the voice hides. Stop pretending that someone else is talking to you… Big Sister looked at her ADAM syringe, Maybe I can… A loud roar reverberated through the park that even managed to hurt the protector's hearing. It almost felt like an earthquake the way the room, and no doubt every part of the park, shook causing the ceiling to crack. Big Sister would take a while to actually pinpoint where it came from, but a good guess is somewhere in the darkened parts of the park.

Alpha quickly recovered from the beast's roar as it charged at him once more. The beast lunged at him, but with his quick reflexes slid under his attacker pierced its chest with his drill and grabbed its throat so strongly his fingers dug into the skin. Alpha used the momentum to spin it around and flung it toward a full bookcase. A memory flashed in Alpha's head and launched a bolt of electricity hitting the beast and sending it into convulsions as the wooden bookcase fell. Alpha charged a fireball and blasted the pile of wood for good measure. The flicker of the flame shined fine lines on his visor which Alpha accidentally touched with a blood stained finger. That thing was loud… Alpha felt a tingling in his shoulder and finally took notice of the blood slowly dripping out of a deep cut on his shoulder. How did… His thought was cut short as the beast ripped the burning wood away, splintering it with ease. The creature stood with a mixture of melting and rejuvenating flesh as the fire still on it was slowly dying out. Alpha finally saw the beast with a clear view. It had two long arms that ended in four short fingers each with a bone claw that seemed to encase the rest of the finger making it longer than it should be. Its skin, if Alpha could call it that, was a weird shade of red that gave it the look exposed muscle that made it look more powerful that it should. A bone tail rose from behind it like a snake, rapidly healing all the flesh that was no longer there. Its face was long like a dog and had almost no lips to speak of. What little flesh it had to call lips was pulled tight to reveal its long sharp teeth and blood red mouth, no doubt from all the splicers it has ripped apart. Its glowing yellow eyes stared directly at him, unnerving the protector. Alpha took a stance ignoring the tingling feeling in his shoulder. The beast growled and slowly began to circle Alpha. The protector took note of the enemy's ability to regenerate and the possible problems it would cause him.

Alpha waited patiently and waited for the beast to show its fighting capabilities first. He figured its speed was topped just under his, but that was assuming it couldn't go faster than when it first charged. Then again it somehow managed to cut him without the protector noticing. Alpha got a glimpse of its tail and noticed something peculiar. The beast charged at him again, dragging its claws through the floor cutting through it like butter. Alpha waited until the last second to jump out of the way to confirm his suspicion. The claw missed him by a few inches, but Alpha was paying more attention to its tail as it swung toward him. Alpha ducked, took a firm hold on it and spun around on his heel and threw it to the wall. A tingling sensation like the one in his shoulder began to spread up his arm. Alpha looked at his hand and noticed a cut straight through his palm that slowly pumped out fresh blood. I'm an idiot… The good news was he found out the beast's tail had some kind of bone like stinger at the tip that was the cause of his wound. Bad news the tingling feeling was probably of some kind of poison, judging by the growing loss of sensation in the injured areas. Alpha moved his fingers hoping the numbing was as far as it went for now. He couldn't afford to get hit with it again, which raised more troubles. Seeing how easily the tail could hit him if he got close enough for an attack with his drill is going to restrain him to just long range attacks. Alpha's drill was replaced by a machine gun in a flash of red. Alpha took his stance as the beast charged once again with a loud roar.

Big Sister was growing impatient with the park. The roar seems to come from almost every direction making it almost impossible to track. The trail of corpses indicated that whatever this thing was had not made a sound until recently. What would be able to cause enough trouble for it? Her for one and another tall metal figure appeared in her head. Maybe Alpha did manage to find what he was looking for. Big Sister wasn't about to let him have all the glory now.

Alpha ducked around a corner in the second floor of the library. He looked at his left hand and attempted to make a fist. The reaction was delayed, but still responsive. That was a big problem at the moment as the creature searched for him in the dark. Much of the books in the library were still housing burning embers from his repeated fire attacks. While it gave him a low visibility, the creature he was fighting had the same handicap. Alpha loaded a belt of anti-personnel rounds to his gun. He slowly made his way out his finger on the trigger ready to obliterate anything in front of him. Every step he took was silent despite his attire and stature. His heart pounded in his chest, but he kept his breathing as silent as his footsteps on the burning paper. He stumbled on the tail he managed to shoot off a few moments ago. Now if the creature's regenerating abilities is far enough to grow it back he would be in serious trouble.

The creature hid beneath a fallen bookcase keeping an eye on its prey. It was strong for certain, but it grows tired. ADAM in its blood will not save it from its fate. The creature jumped from under the bookcase and onto the ceiling.

Alpha's attention was immediately turned to the wooden mess just ahead of him. The protector stopped a few meters away as something came to him. The bookcase was broken outward… as in something jumped out. Alpha looked at his wounded shoulder as the dried blood was mixing with a clear viscous liquid falling from the ceiling. Alpha pointed the barrel as fast as he could to the ceiling and unleashed hell.

Next chapter will have a more detailed fight scene between these 2.
