Chapter 11
I landed next to where the others were, and all was completely still and quiet. You could've heard a pin drop a million miles away. The only thing moving was Krillin, 'cause he was trembling like gelatin.
Frieza smiled and said, "I guess you're ready to go, then. I'll start off with…" He looked around, carefully studying each of us with consideration. After looking at each and every one of us, he pointed at Krillin and was practically laughing. "Him! To get rid of the weaklings first."
Krillin barely took a step forward before Frieza appeared in front of him, kicked him, and Krillin was totally knocked back at least a few kilometers while screaming like heck.
I was gawking and all good guys looked worried for Krillin. If he could do that, then I was toast. (Oh, wait…I forgot, Krillin gets owned easily whether it's by Frieza or anybody else, my mistake!)
"Who else will I try next? Hmmm…" Again, Frieza studied us and decided. "I'm choosing the Namekian. He will at least be a slight challenge."
Namekian? What in the world is that? Then I saw Piccolo ripping his cape off. Next he took off his turban and…
"Piccolo, you have antennae?" I questioned, surprised.
"I'm a Namekian, what do you expect?" he responded.
"Dude, I don't even know what a Namekian is…what do you expect?"
"Well…whatever. I have green skin, pointy ears, and antennae. I think you've noticed I'm not human by now," he said impatiently.
I narrowed my eyes. "No, Piccolo. I thought you were human all this time. I mean, the average human is very tall, has green skin, pointy ears, and antennae…did I mention green skin?"
Piccolo took a couple steps forward, and lasted longer than Krillin. I will say the process of what happened: Frieza shot an ki blast at Piccolo, Piccolo dodged it by a millimeter, he appeared in front of Frieza, punched him, epically failed, got kneed in the stomach, slapped on the face by a Frieza's tail, punched in the jaw, and went unconscious. Again, I was gawking and all good guys looked worried for Piccolo. As usual, Frieza was just smiling and chuckling.
"I hope the rest of you monkeys will be a small challenge."
"Uhhh…monkeys?" I whispered.
"Yeah…that's what Frieza refers to as Saiyans, since most of us have tails," Gohan whispered back. I suddenly had a flashback of why I'm so unpopular: my parents had always said that I had a tail that they cut off because it was attracting too much attention. I'd never believed them. Apparently, I'm a monkey without a tail. Would that make me an ape?
"Well, since I'm starting off with the weakest of you, I'll start with the pint sized half-Saiyan. Get over here!" barked Frieza. Oh, great. Knowing Monde, she'll probably go at a level beyond Super Saiyan and just blow up the whole world if Gohan is hurt in any way, I thought. He gulped and stepped forward; looking at me with a look that said, Help me!
The fight lasted longer than Piccolo or Krillin, but still relatively short and painful-looking. Gohan charged at Frieza and ended up hitting air. Then Frieza appeared above Gohan and elbowed his back, sending Gohan tumbling to the ground, only to reappear half a second later, extremely angry. Next he shot an ki blast that would've totally killed me, but it hit Frieza and didn't affect him at all. Frieza went up and kicked Gohan while saying something evil that I couldn't understand. Again, Gohan got buried in the ground and appeared a moment later. He stayed suspended in the air for about a minute, breathing heavily.
I was gawking so much that my jaws were going to pop out of their place any moment. My eyes were about to come out of my head. I was also about to faint—how could I defeat a guy like this? I mean, Gohan is kind of hard to beat and Frieza was making it look like a picnic.
Gohan charged at Frieza at full force and started punching and kicking him so fast I was barely processing what happened. What I did process, though, was that Frieza was dodging every single thing.
"You've had your fun, little Saiyan, but I've got other monkeys to battle," I heard Frieza say. Then he grabbed Gohan by his hair and kneed him hard in the stomach. Gohan dropped to the ground like a weight, unconscious. Aw, great. Monde will be holding a grudge against me now.
I was smiling one of those smiles that only happen when someone is going crazy. This was going to be impossible, unless Trunks, Vegeta, or Goku could somehow wipe him out. Then I remembered: Goku and Vegeta are Super Saiyans! And I assume that if they are Super Saiyans, Trunks was also a Super Saiyan! I relaxed but still a little worried. Then I remembered another thing: what if Frieza knows this and just wants to get me over with first? Shoot.
"Well, now there might be a challenge…with Vegeta's son!"
I felt a scream starting to form in my throat. Bani is going to kill me. Or she just might turn Super Saiyan Infinity on the spot and kill Frieza…hey, that's a pleasant thought!
Trunks didn't really do any reaction. He just balled his fists and stepped forward. I saw Vegeta whispering something inaudible about…well…something. I think it was about going Super Saiyan.
"I'll try, Father," Trunks whispered back.
I didn't even process what happened because it went by all so fast. All I can say is…Trunks is way stronger than me, but still kinda weak compared to Frieza. What happened was that Trunks charged up to Frieza and was punching/kicking/hitting so fast, I didn't see. I also think that Frieza was having trouble dodging the blows and had to actually block.
Next, Frieza started to fight back. Although, Trunks was sort of helpless on that, given the fact that he was getting hit with pretty much everything Frieza threw out. Even if he did block the punches, I could tell that he was fighting against the pressure of the punch/kick he was blocking and did that for five seconds until he fought back again.
That went on for at least two minutes until Frieza shot a red ki blast and Trunks shot a yellow one. The two blasts met and pushed against each other. It looked like a scene from a movie: the red blast getting closer to Trunks, then the yellow blast getting closer to Frieza and the blasts pushed and pushed. Finally, the red blast won and the yellow blast got smaller and smaller until its owner got thrown against a huge boulder.
While Frieza was still looking smug, Trunks looked like he was about to give up and faint. Although, I noticed Frieza's lower lip bleeding. He licked it. (EEW!). Suddenly, I had an idea.
"HEY, TRUNKS!" I shouted. He looked at me weakly. "GO SUPER SAIYAN!"
Now all eyes were on me. Goku and Vegeta were looking at me like I was insane, Trunks had a look of confusion, and Frieza looked surprised.
"Uh…you can turn Super Saiyan…RIGHT?!" Now I was the one to look worried.
"UH…UM…" It was clear that Trunks was thinking of a good excuse not to. "Um…I…CAN'T GO…SUPER…Saiyan…" he called to me in a seriously unconvincing voice. I narrowed my eyes angrily while Goku was shushing me. Fine, I thought. If he just doesn't have the potential to go Super Saiyan, that's another thing. But this is ridiculous. THE WHOLE DARN WORLD IS ABOUT TO END, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!
"Oh. My. Gosh, dude….YOU ARE, LIKE, THE WORST ACTOR EVER! A KINDERGARTENER WOULDN'T FALL FOR THAT TYPE OF ACTING!"
Everyone stared at me in mute silence and bewilderment, wide-eyed.
"Well, uhhh…WHAT IF I JUST DON'T WANT TO TURN SUPER SAIYAN?!" Trunks yelled back.
"THEN I GUESS I'LL BE SEEING YOU IN THE AFTERLIFE!"
"Yes, you will." Frieza spoke. He charged up to Trunks and smacked him upside the head super hard.
"Fool! Don't you realize what you have done?!" Vegeta scolded angrily at me.
"No, I don't. What have I done?"
"You stalled Frieza so that he got some of his energy back and is now stronger than the worn-out Trunks!"
"Well, sorry if Trunks is too lazy to go Super Saiyan."
"What if going Super just wastes lots of energy?"
"The result will be worth the lost energy."
"But what makes you think going Super will be enough to kill Frieza?" Vegeta questioned.
"Um, why else would you people make a big deal of making me Super? And doesn't Super Saiyan, like, make someone a ton times stronger?" I answered. With this, Vegeta had to think for a moment.
"Uhhh…but what makes you so sure that my son can turn Super?" I looked at him like he was insane.
"Three reasons: one, I tend to look at his true power sometimes. Two, if you and Goku can do it, then Trunks will have to be able to do it, 'cause he's stronger than you. Three, his denial was totally fake." In that moment, something heavy fell at my feet. I looked down to find Trunks unconscious on the ground. "Oh…dear…now I'm really gonna get it from Bani," I muttered.
"I must admit, that was a small challenge," said Frieza, "but I only lost a fraction of my power!" Now my fear had come back.
"Ugh! I'm tired of this, let me fight the idiot!" Vegeta said as he stepped forward.
"Oh, Vegeta, you read my mind."
"The prince of Saiyans might as well be psychic as he is strong." Not another cheap joke again.
Vegeta flew fast at Frieza and tried to punch his face. The punch missed by a millimeter. Then Frieza kneed him in the stomach. Vegeta tried hitting Frieza again, missed, and said something inaudible. Then he flew toward him in a flurry of punches and kicks, which all just whizzed harmlessly through the air. Then, Vegeta threw about half a million ki blasts. Most missed Frieza, and the ones that did hit barely fazed him. Oh, great. The world is rested in the hands of a bunch of strong people who don't even want to show their true powers, I thought.
Now it was Frieza's turn to fight. Except, his blows actually hit the target. So, he went up and punched Vegeta in the face, kicked him in the stomach, and hammered his back so that Vegeta went hurtling to the ground. There was a giant crater about the size of a medium-sized room when he landed.
"Now that has got to hurt," I stated, cringing. "Why doesn't he just turn Super Saiyan?"
"Well, Vegeta doesn't turn Super because he knows that Frieza won't be as much of a challenge," explained Goku. I stared at him.
"You can't be serious, can you? Who cares if the fight will be a challenge or not?"
"Vegeta cares. So do I."
"Wait, so you're willing to risk your own life and billions of others, just for sport?"
"Pretty much." I stared at him some more, eyes wide.
I heard a loud groan and turned around. Frieza was holding Vegeta by his hair while punching his back very hard. Then Vegeta said something else inaudible that made Frieza very mad. I know that because then Frieza grabbed Vegeta's foot with his tail and hung him upside-down and started using him as a punching bag. It looked very painful. Then Frieza dropped him to the ground. Vegeta said something else inaudible, except I think he said something about killing. The point is that then Frieza kicked him in the face super hard and Vegeta was knocked out.
"Well, looks like it's my turn to pummel this jerk into the ground," said Goku while cracking his knuckles.
"So…looks like you're not turning Super Saiyan?" I asked.
"Nope. Just regular ol' me."
"Okay, but when this planet is blown to pieces, don't go sulking in a corner asking yourself 'Why didn't I listen to Hana and go Super?'"
"Okay, I won't," Goku said as he stepped forward. I stared after him. If I survived today, I would write in my diary that men are so ridiculous.
"Well, looks like Goku is psychic also," mocked Frieza.
"I guess it's just our genes," said Goku.
The fight started fast and intense, making me question if they were actually there. Frieza started punching Goku really fast and Goku was kicking really fast. I could barely see the movements and I got a headache after watching them within a few seconds of the fight. Then they were air born, doing whatever attack was available. Goku backed up a little and did a ki blast. Frieza dodged it and threw lasers out of his eyes (you're probably thinking the same thing I did when that happened). Goku missed them by a little, but one of the lasers scratched his arm.
My fear was actually starting to go away at this point. In fact, I was only getting angrier. I was getting angry, because Frieza was a jerk that just hurt people, and angry at Goku because he was too chicken to show his awesome Super Saiyan self.
Well, anyways, Goku just got scratched. They both went on the ground for a moment, only for Frieza to throw a powerful ki blast. Goku thrust his hands forward, blocking the blast, which pushed him backward several meters. The blast dissipated, but his hands were burning, so he blew on them dramatically.
Frieza just stood there where he was, amused by Goku's pain, resisting the urge to kill him. Goku just stood there, most likely resisting the urge to turn Super Saiyan, but couldn't, because the fight would be over too fast. I, on the other hand, stood there, resisting the urge to rip my hair off and kill them both. Everybody else was either knocked out or secretly watching.
Now, a very weird attack happened. Both guys went up into the air and…let me explain in the simplest way. Goku flew at Frieza full force, but was somehow engulfed in a small sphere of ki. He looked surprised for a moment, trying to get out, but was being bonked around by Frieza. He hit the ball, it went somewhere, appeared in front of it, hit it, and the process went on for at least 29 seconds, until Goku somehow broke free of the ball just as Frieza was about to hit it.
Then the punching frenzy began again. I couldn't pick out any certain punches. Heck, I barely saw where they were. There were just a bunch of sounds and booms as the impact of the blows hit something. Suddenly, everything stopped for a few moments.
"Not bad. I would've expected something more, though," said Frieza.
"Me too. But then again, we're both holding back lots of our power," Goku answered.
"Yes, I agree. Do you want to take this battle to the ground, or keep it in the air?"
"Ground's fine. After all, I am a ground kind of guy."
"That is a lame pun," I muttered to myself.
They both went to the ground slowly while staring at each other. When they got down, Frieza smirked. "You know what, I'll just fight without my hands and prove to you my power, and make the fight a little easier for you," he said. Goku began stretching a little and took off his shirt. (Hold back the fangirl squeals, hold back the fangirl squeals!)
"Alright," Goku said as he dropped his shirt to the ground, "I trust 'ya."
Frieza chuckled and held up his hands. "How does that grab you?"
"Well, it doesn't if you don't have any hands," I muttered.
Goku did a fighting stance, paused for a moment, and did a flying kick toward the enemy. The enemy dodged, and kicked the good guy right in his spleen. Then he did another kick to the head. Goku went flying back for a moment, but regained control of himself. Next, he and Frieza started practically dancing across the land, punching, mostly kicking each other. I don't know for how long that went on, all I know is that eventually, Goku dropped to the ground, panting. Frieza went in front of him and started wagging his tail in Goku's face.
"Uh oh, looks like the little monkey is in a bit of pain," mocked Frieza in a voice that made him sound like an idiot.
Goku grabbed Frieza's tail faster than lightning and started swinging him around like a sack of flour. He threw him into a giant boulder. There was a pause that felt like an eternity, but eventually, Frieza came shooting out very fast and punched Goku in the face very hard. (See anything wrong? Well, Goku is about to reveal it.)
"So, I guess you have to use your hands after all, don't you?" Goku said while rubbing his face. Frieza growled angrily. Again, another punching/kicking frenzy; except Frieza had the upper hand this time, since he was using his hands now.
Now Frieza was grabbing Goku's face, slamming it into the ground, and dragging it across the land; I cringed. Goku lay still for a moment, and shakily got up. But Frieza showed no mercy, because right as Goku got up, he started hitting Goku until blood came out of his mouth. Goku swayed, and just happened to fall right on Frieza's shoulder.
"After all that's happened, I thought you hated me," Frieza teased evilly. Goku widened his eyes, and stepped back. My eyes widened too, and I felt like throwing up.
Again, no mercy from Mr. Weird-on-so-many-levels; he just punched and kicked until Goku was lying face down on the ground. Frieza kicked him so that he was sent flying and landed directly in front of me. He looked up at me weakly and I crossed my arms and gave him an accusing look. Goku just did a very tiny grin.
"You can defeat him, Hana…I know you can…you have the power…" he said a little above a whisper. Frieza, a couple feet away from him, wrapped his tail around both of Goku's feet, hung him upside for a moment, swung him around a couple times and threw him towards another large boulder. The boulder crumbled from the impact of Goku's body. In the debris of the boulder, I saw Goku, lying on the ground, not moving, knocked out cold.
Several very scary and gory thoughts came into my head all of a sudden.I forced myself to push them out. Though I knew that I was either going to get killed, or seriously hurt before the end of today.
My heart was pounding so hard and fast, and the area was so quiet, I swear that it echoed. Every single part of my body was sweating, muscles tense. So I stayed silent, not moving.
"Oops, I guess that the girl isn't psychic like Goku or Vegeta…" said Frieza, still facing Goku; I didn't say anything. "So I'll just tell her." He turned around around. "It's your turn now."
