With a skip in his step, the changeling walked stealthily through the halls. Raven was feeling a bit better, and that made him extremely happy. So, because he was so happy, he decided it was the time to do one of his favorite things. Pranks. Currently, his only target was Cyborg because Raven was his wife and she would kill him, or send him to another planet where video games didn't exist. "Oh, Cyborg."
When the robotic titan started to walk down the hall, Beast Boy started to whistle innocently. "Don't even think about it B. Either eat it, put it back in the fridge, or throw it away."
The changeling pouted as Cyborg continued on down the hall. "Aww! Come on!"
"Sorry B."
"With Robin and Starfire gone, who am I going to prank?"
"Not my problem."
His ears dropped and he pouted. "Fine." He walked into the common room and put the pie in the fridge.
He noticed Raven was sitting on the couch and he walked over. He leaned over the couch and kissed her cheek. "Morning, beautiful." He walked around and sat next to her. She blushed lightly as he intertwined their fingers together. "How did you sleep?"
"Fine. A lot better then usual."
He wrapped his arm around her waist. "That's good. Are you ok?"
She sighed and put her book down. "It's in the corner."
He glanced over and sighed. "I'm sorry, Rae." He squeezed her tight. "I'm really sorry."
"Don't be sorry, it's not your fault. Bedsides, you got rid of them last night. You should be happy."
"I know, I just wish I could've gotten rid of them permanently."
"At least you got rid of them for the night."
He nodded. "Yea, I guess you're right. Anyway, I was wondering if maybe later you want to go to the park?"
She gave him a look. "You're joking, right?"
He smiled and shook his head. "I think some fresh air will do us both some good. We can even invite Sarah and Cyborg along! Make it a double date, it'll be great." He let out a chuckle. "That rhymed. So? What do you say?"
She looked at him. "I guess one day out couldn't hurt."
"Awesome!" He stood up. "I'll go ask Cy and get him to call to Sarah!" He gave her a quick peck on the lips and darted off.
Sarah whistled along to the music as she vacuumed. Her phone started to ring and she turned off the music and the vacuum cleaner. She grabbed her phone and pressed the answer button. "Hello?"
"Hey little lady."
"Cyborg! Hey, what's up?"
"How are you?"
"I'm great."
"Cool. So, the grass stain thinks it would be cool if we all went on a double date."
"Really?"
"Yea, are you in?"
"Sure, sounds like it'll be fun."
"Great! I'll see you later."
"Ok, bye." She hung up and put her phone on it's charger. She turned the music back on and began to vacuum again.
Beast Boy looked at himself in the mirror to check his appearance. He was wearing jeans and a dark green t-shirt. He saw what looked like a person walk behind him and he whipped around, ready to attack if he needed to. When he didn't see anyone, he shrugged and turned back to the mirror, choosing to ignore the odd occurrence.
Raven tried to ignore them as she sat on the couch, waiting for her husband. There were three of them now, and they were all staring at her. It seemed like they were laughing at her suffering, trying to find a way to make it worse. She closed her eyes, telling herself they weren't real, but when she opened her eyes, they were still there, staring at her. They seemed to be moving closer to her, so she stood up and walked into the kitchen. Her hands were shaking slightly as she tried not to panic. "They're not real." She whispered to herself.
One of them glided towards her and she moved backwards. It got extremely close to her and she put a shield up. When footsteps were heard, it moved away, but didn't vanish. "Rae?" Hearing her husbands voice, Raven removed the shield. "Are you ok?"
She nodded. "Yea, I'm fine."
He gave her a concerned look. "It doesn't seem like it."
She walked over to him. "I'm ok, I promise."
He smiled and took her hand, gripping it tightly. "Good. Come on, Cy's already in the car."
They walked into the garage and got into the back seats. "Are y'all ready?" He asked.
"Yea! Let's go!" Yelled Beast Boy.
Cyborg laughed and they started driving to Sarah's apartment. She was already waiting outside when they got there. Cyborg opened the door for her and she jumped in. "Hey guys!"
"Hey Sarah!" Said Beast Boy.
"Hello." Said Raven.
"Hey, do you wanna hear some jokes?" Asked Beast Boy.
"Sure, why not." Said Sarah.
"Ok, what do you call a fly with no wings?"
"I don't know, what?"
"A walk!" He started laughing and Sarah giggled lightly.
"What do you call a fake noodle?"
"I don't know." Said Sarah.
"An impasta!" He burst into laughter and Cyborg and Raven rolled their eyes.
"Why is it that you always tell jokes in the car when we can't escape?" Asked Raven.
Beast Boy grinned at her. "Just one more, I promise. What happens if you eat yeast and shoe polish?"
Sarah shrugged her shoulders. "What?"
"Every morning you'll rise and shine!"
Cyborg actually chuckled at that one. "That was kinda funny."
Beast Boy smirked and leaned back in his seat. "I knew I'd be able to make you laugh one day!"
Cyborg pulled over and parked the car. "Alright y'all, we're here."
They all got out of the car and started walking to the picnic area. A few people stared at them and whispered, but they ignored it. Beast Boy and Raven sat down across from Sarah and Cyborg. "How do you think Robin and Star are doing?" Questioned Beast Boy.
Cyborg shrugged and opened a compartment in his wrist. "They should be there be now."
"Where are they?" Asked Sarah.
Cyborg turned to his girlfriend. "They went to see Star's sister, Blackfire on Tamaran."
"Oh, ok. You haven't gotten any updates yet?"
Cyborg shook his head. "No, not yet."
"Do you think they're ok?"
"I'm sure they are, Rob and Star can take care of themselves."
Sarah nodded and Beast Boy opened up the picnic basket. "Do you bring tofu dogs?"
Cyborg sighed and rolled his eyes. "Yes, even though they're disgusting."
Sarah giggled and Beast Boy stuck his tongue at him. "They're delicious."
"Whatever, man."
"Raven?" Hearing the voice, the four of them turned around.
"Oh, Fallon, hi." Raven stood up and walked over to the girl. "How are you?"
"I'm good, fantastic actually. You were right, Mitchell didn't want to break up. He proposed!"
"That's great Fallon, I'm happy for you."
"Thanks! I won't keep you any longer. It was great seeing you Raven."
"You to."
Fallon walked away and Raven walked back to the group. "Who was that?" Asked Cyborg.
"Fallon, she works at the bookstore."
"Oh, cool."
"Maybe she'll be the first to die."
Raven whipped her around and looked at Beast Boy, who was shoving tofu dogs in his mouth. "What did you just say?"
He gave her an odd look and swallowed his mouthful of food. "I didn't say anything."
She took a shaky breath. "Right, sorry."
"Are you ok?" Asked Sarah.
"I can already hear their delightful screams of anguish."
"Fine." She snapped.
Sarah frowned slightly. "Are you sure?"
"You'll watch them burn."
"Yes, I'm sure." Said Raven.
"Perhaps we'll let you pick who goes first. Maybe the changeling. We'll rip him apart limb by limb."
She stood up and clutched her head. "No.."
"Rae?" Beast Boy stood up and put his hand on her shoulder. "Are you ok?"
"D-don't touch me." She backed away and took a shaky breath.
"Raven, it's ok, it's me."
"I know who you are!" She took another breath. "I'm sorry, I'm ok."
"Are you sure?"
She nodded and sat back down. "I'm ok."
"You won't be for long."
She winced but ignored it. She inwardly told herself that it wasn't real.
"Sarah, do you wanna go for a walk?" Asked Cyborg, trying to give the two of them space.
Getting the hint, she nodded and stood up. "I think a walk sounds great."
The pair walked off and Beast Boy looked at his wife. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"Is it the shadows?"
She nodded. "Yea, the shadows." She felt terrible for lying to him, but she didn't want him to worry.
"Do you think she's ok?" Asked Sarah.
Cyborg nodded. "Yea, it's probably the insomnia."
"I don't think she likes me very much." Stated Sarah.
"No, she likes you, trust me, she just has a hard time trusting people."
She nodded. "I guess I understand that."
"I promise, once she warms up to you, you'll be the best of friends."
She gave him a look. "Ok, maybe not the best of friends, but you'll be friends."
She smiled at him. "Good, do you think it's ok to go back now?"
He nodded. "Yea, I think so."
"Ok, let's go."
The four of them sat under a tree in the shade. Beast Boy shifted into a green puppy and wagged his tail at Raven. She rolled her eyes but threw the frisbee that he had brought anyway. He barked in delight and chased after it.
Sarah whispered something to Cyborg and he nodded. "Raven, I'm gonna take Sarah home, will you tell B where I went?"
She nodded. "Thanks." The two of them stood up and left.
Beast Boy came back and dropped the frisbee next to her. She picked it up on the side that wasn't covered in slobber and threw it again.
"Excuse me?"
She looked up to see a young boy. He had on a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt covered in dirt, obviously from playing. He was holding a baseball cap and a marker. "Could I have your autograph?"
She gave him a small smile and nodded, taking the cap from him. "You're my favorite teen titan."
She wrote her name and handed it back to him. "What's your name?"
"Eric."
"Well, it was nice to meet you Eric."
He beamed at her and then ran back to his mother.
"I wonder how old he is."
She sucked in a breath and looked around for her husband. She saw him talking to a bunch of a kids and sighed in relief. He was safe. She stood up and walked over to him. "We should probably go home now."
He grinned at her and nodded. "I'll see you all later!" He grabbed her hand and they started walking. "Where's Cy?"
"He took Sarah home."
He nodded. "Do you wanna stop for ice cream on the way?"
"Sure."
"May I see my sister now?"
The guard nodded and they walked up a flight of stairs. "Has her condition changed?" Asked Robin.
The guard shook his head. "I'm afraid not, she's only gotten worse."
Starfire nodded her head sadly. "I see."
"Do you know what's wrong with her?" Asked Robin.
"We believe she has been poisoned by an unknown substance. We have done multiple tests, but they have all been inconclusive. Even if we knew what was wrong, we don't know if we could find a cure."
Starfire gasped and doubled over in pain. "Starfire!" Robin rushed to her side.
Starfire sobbed as she collapsed onto her knees. "No.."
Robin clutched into her. "Star?"
She sobbed louder and buried her face into his chest. "We are to late..we are to late."
