Brutal Revenge

Chapter 10:

Countdown pt.3: Eighteen Hours.

Kakashi was the usual today. He seemed laid back, reserved, and carefree. But what could he do? The village was basically under serious threats which, their attackers at any moment could strike. He walked through the streets leisurely, every now and then, people and children would gather around him, making a big scene just because he's Hokage and he's protected them from danger before. It was reasons such as these why he often used the transporting elements or he just runs on top the roofs.

"Alright, alright," he smiled and slowly navigated through the mass of crowd. "I've got business to attend to." And instantly, he disappeared from their eyes. With a sigh, he re-appeared right before the Godaime, who seemed to have an upset expression.

"What's this I'm hearing about a threat to kill us all?"

"Didn't you get my message?" Kakashi folded his arms. "I sent a message to you the other day with Botan, after all, I had gathered every ninja in the village but I noticed that you weren't there so I decided to send you a message which contained every bit of information that I've gathered. I even sent an ANBU to deliver the message; how could you not receive it?"

"There wasn't at all any moment in time that an ANBU came to me and delivered any message to me."

"Well, here's what we've gathered so far."

Tsunade was more than at a loss for words. Upon hearing everything so far, she began to pace around her office, biting her nails.

"I thought we got rid of those Fallen angels once we got rid of Darius. How did more especially of this magnitude come from?"

"I don't know, but right now, the ninjas are supposed to be training hard for this."

"What about when they get missions to do?"

"They aren't leaving the village. All missions are already taken care of,"

"So they're basically prisoners in their own home?"

"No, it's not like that. I can't afford to send out anyone on missions and risk them being ambushed and killed." Kakashi said with his usual casual tone. He wasn't the type to make a ruckus of the situations like these, but Tsunade could tell that he was worried.

"So what are you planning to do? Evacuate the entire village?" she asked.

"It was my intention."

"It was? You're saying it as though you've changed your mind."

"It still is. As soon as everything is in place, the evacuation will begin." Kakashi said. "I don't think I can handle keeping the shield up and battling those Fallen." He mumbled below his breath. But unfortunately, she heard. Her eyes narrowed at him, but then she sighed. She knew Kakashi was hiding something, and she had a deep feeling that it was something big.

"What are you hiding Kakashi?"

"What do you mean? What's there about me that you don't know?"

"Ever since you came back, it seems as though there's something ―"

"I'm not disrespecting you or anything, but it's none of your concern." He pivoted on his heel and headed through the door. Sitting back down in her chair, she looked through the window and saw him walking lazily towards the Hokage Tower. She could see the distress in his only visible eye, and that was when she remembered what Yamato told her.

"I was simply trying to lighten his mood but when he saw the window, he fell to his knees, the ramen in his hand spilled to the floor and the look on his face…" Yamato paused. "He was totally destroyed by what he saw. But what did he see? Only God knows."

Tsunade sighed and then she too headed through the door. She walked pass the various nurses and doctors, not saying a word. She hastily walked down the busy streets, waving here and there to various persons calling out to her. Within no time, she was at her destination. Kakashi's house. She didn't even knock, but she opened the door and when right in. She found Anko sitting around the table, reading a cook book. She held Anko by her shoulder, startling the woman.

"Tsunade-sama!" she gasped. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm worried."

"About?"

"Kakashi." When Tsunade called his name, she saw Anko's facial expression change, and she wondered why.

"He's supposed to be fine. He was this morning, just the whole war thing kinda getting him edgey."

"I'm not talking about that. What's he hiding?"

"I can't tell you." Anko said as she continued to look through the cook book. "It's best if you ask him."

"I tried but he said it's none of my concern."

"Just give him some time; it's a big deal that's why he isn't ready to tell anyone yet. He's just afraid what people might do this time around." Anko actually had a smile on her face but one thing Tsunade was glad for was that she was much calmer than before. Usually anyone who startled Anko, she'd have a kunai at their throats already. But these days, she's quieter and more reserved. She chuckled knowing that it'll soon come to an end.

"You think he'd love this cake?"

Tsunade leaned over to see what she was talking. The cake was covered with grate coconuts on vanilla icing. However, the inside was chocolate with a cream filling in the middle.

"He shouldn't mind. You know he's not fussy; it's the thought that counts right?"

"I suppose."

"But why are you baking him a cake? What's the occasion?"

"His birthday is tomorrow."

Kakashi walked through a lush meadow, lost. All over, he could see beautiful flowers of orchids, bougainvilleas, peonies and narcissus. The trees were like skyscrapers, their barks as thick as four grown horses wide. He trotted along, and as he did so, he noticed that the area was becoming dark. Very dark as night.

Facilis descensus averno…

Kakashi stopped immediately at the sound of that. He looked around to see any signs of who or what could've said that. Nothing. He continued to walk and when he went deeper into the forest, he kept hearing it repeatedly. The whispers came to him from all angles, almost driving him crazy.

"There must be a way out of here…" He said to himself. Soon, there was bright crimson light, followed by a devastating wind. Kakashi blocked the debris from his face, but after the wind died down, there, before him were doors. On the doors were skeletons which seemed to be bounded by chains. The doors themselves were black, and when they swung open, infernal heat was emitted. It scorched everything in its path, and Kakashi too was on fire.

"Facilis Descensus Averno," In his agony, he looked up and saw on top of the doors that there was someone. Himself.

"Be careful Kakashi," the voice was none other than Darius', and then he saw Darius appear on top the gates also. The doors then closed with a creek, and as they shut, cracks formed here and there until they shattered as glass.

Kakashi jumped up, sweat running down off his face and what was more, even his clothes were drenched. He then rubbed his eyes and sighed.

"Thank God it's only a dream."

Suddenly, Kakashi heard an explosion which caused him to look through the window. He saw dust and debris rising in the air, the people were scattering for their lives.

"Senpai!" Yamato called as he busts through the door. "We've been bombed!"

Kakashi was so surprised that he grabbed Yamato by the hand, and vanished using the lightning to transport them to the village's gates. The buildings in that area were all destroyed, but luckily and surprisingly, no one died or was seriously injured. All the ninja teams including the ANBU were gathered at the gates already, and Kakashi pushed through to make it to the front.

"What happened?" He asked.

"The area just exploded. There was no one in the proximity, everything was fine."

"So it was planted before." He said to himself. "Maybe when I had to fight those two Fallen after those bizarre attacks."

"Hokage-sama, do you think they've began their assaults?" an ANBU with a fox mask asked.

"They had begun a long time ago." He answered. He then placed a shield over the village, seeing that if they were attacked again; getting all the citizens out wouldn't be possible. "Yamato," He called.

"Yes, Senpai?"

"I want you to stay here along with the rest of the ninjas and if I don't come back, don't come searching for me." Kakashi jumped off into the trees, leaving Yamato and the other ninjas looking in bewilderment, but they kept their guard at the village gates.

"Why'd Kakashi-sensei leave?" Naruto asked. "What did he say?"

"He said we should stay here even if he doesn't come back."

"What? That's ―"

"I'm going after him." The voice resonated like thunder, causing everyone to instantly turn around. It was none other than Tsunade herself. She walked through the mass of ninjas and when she was finally at the front, she turned to face them.

"How could you allow your Rokudaime to leave the village alone without any protection?" She stormed off and within a split second, she vanished within the trees. She jumped as fast as she could, wanting to make it to Kakashi in time. That Brat, she thought. However, she stopped midway her journey. The trees in that area were terribly scorched; the earth was totally deformed with a huge crater in the middle. In essence, the entire area was destroyed beyond recognition.

"Who or what could've done this?" she asked. Suddenly, she heard a loud explosion followed by strong gusts of wind. It almost blew her away, but she kept her ground. When the wind died down, she quickly made her way to where it came from. Much to her horror, she ended up stumbling upon something disturbing.

Kakashi was laying face first in the dirt; another Fallen had his foot on his head. As she was about to aid, she noticed that she'd be outnumbered; seven to one. Instead, she kept to the shadows and quickly sent a message with Katsuyu, hoping that the ninjas back in Konoha will hastily arrive. But then, she heard a grunt and then Kakashi vanished in a cloud of smoke. Shadow Clone. She sighed a relief but that was when she saw it. From the air, Kakashi slammed down into one of the Fallen's head, slicing him in half with his katana. Then, he spun around to slice the other but they vanished. She saw him look around frantic, but then he simply leaned on a tree. A few moments after, a raging fireball came in his direction, but he stretched out a hand and the fireball suddenly dissipated. Kakashi then thrust forwards, and in doing so, his wings bust out of his back in a whoosh. He grabbed a Fallen by the neck, and flung him into the ground.

"When are you going to attack?!" He shouted.

"Like hell I'd tell bitches like you." The Fallen spat. Kakashi made a snarl, and with one fist, the death element spun around it before he punched the Fallen in the face, rendering him to nothing.

"What have you found out?" Tsunade heard him say but she didn't see who he was talking to. Four other men appeared from the shadows, each had red eyes but only two had brown hair and the other two had black hair. Of the four, three had the enemy in their hands.

"You know that I'm impatient, he was taking too long so I killed him." The man with the spiked brown hair said. His red eyes were blazing with fury and evil but also, there was a look of excitement burning in his eyes.

"Gezeiten, really?" another brown haired man said. "Kakashi, none of us found out anything. Before they told us their plans, they were electrocuted except the one Gezeiten had."

"Thank you, Geitei." Kakashi smiled. Goban and Gorobei tossed aside the dead Fallen in their hands, Gezeiten seemed a bit overjoyed. But then He huffed, and folded his arms looking at Kakashi.

"What?" Kakashi asked.

"It was fun running them down and killing them afterwards. I can't wait for this war to begin." Gezeiten smiled. Kakashi shook his head and with one hard thrust from his wings, he flew into the air, leaving a sonic boom behind him. Tsunade had to cover her eyes so as to prevent any debris from blinding her. The four men were still there looking upwards, seeming to be in awe.

"He's powerful isn't he?" Gorobei said. "A simple thrust leaves behind a sonic boom such as that, damn." Hearing this, Tsunade was shocked. She slowly retreated from them and when she was far away from them she sprinted through the woods, hoping to make it to Konoha before Kakashi realizes that she's gone. But now, everything makes sense to her.

"Kakashi was actually Konen." she stopped on a branch to take it all in. "How could I been so foolish not to see it?! The way he spoke, the way he looked, the way he was obsessed with Konoha, everything." While she was making her way back to Konoha, she heard the sounds of wings flapping. Looking upwards, she saw Kakashi, soaring graciously in the sky. His wings were more beautiful and longer than she remembered; there was a soft glow to him that made him look so ethereal. She stopped, gazing at him until she couldn't see him anymore.
