Chapter Nine: Following rainbows

When Mike pulled the car up, Buttercup was waiting impatiently at the entrance with her foot tapping and her arms crossed. She finally wore the outfit Robin bought her along with her usual facial expression where she looks annoyed. She wore a black and green stripped hooded shirt with the sleeves ripped off, black fingerless gloves with yellow stars on the palms, and baggy black jeans with green converses. Although her face says otherwise, she's been really concern over her sisters. She has already been separated from her sisters for years... Not being there for them when she's needed the most. After being finally reunited... She's noticed they've changed dramatically compared to her. Only if she was with them... She's a lot tougher than they are and she would've protect them from whatever they faced... If only she was there for them.

"Bout time you guys got here! I was ready to bulldoze that place when I didn't see you two with Harry and...guests." Buttercup sighed. Her sisters stepped out with emptiness in their eyes and bruises covering their bodies. "Whoa... You two had a party." she blinked. Her sisters exchanged looks and then glanced away. "Heavy..." Buttercup scratched the back of her head. Bullet flew out of the car and on top of Buttercups head. "Well look who it is!" she laughed. "Good to see ya Bullet!"

"When Harry and our guests made it back, she insisted on coming with me to check on the girls." Mike smirked. Buttercup looked at her sisters again and frowned. They were still in a serious mood and it seem like nothing will snap them out of it. Though it was hopeless, Buttercup wished for the bossy and the crybaby to smile like they use to when they were little.

"Look, go fix yourselves up and I'll hand whatever this is to Robin." Buttercup said as she took the CD from Blossoms hand. "And the angel said she MIGHT be able to bring Bunny back. No promises though." Buttercup pushed her sisters down the hall with Mike and Bullet following them. Blossom and Bubbles went to what is now called their room and prepared clean clothes Robin bought for them before jumping in the bath. They washed their hair and backs in silence, made their way back to their room to dry off and tend to their wounds. They decided to sew their outfits later and decided to wear something else for the time being considering their wounds also need time to heal. Blossom wore a long white shirt with pink covering the front and had a small red heart in the middle with a white halo above it. On the sleeves of the shirt were pink triangles and on the black skinny jeans were white and pink stripes coming from her thighs to her knees. She wore pink converse shoes and decided to keep her hair down but still wore the red ribbon. Bubbles wore a long light blue dress with clouds at the bottom and wore a long sleeve black sweater underneath. She wore white shorts underneath her dress so she wouldn't flash anyone while flying or fighting. She wore a poke doted blue and white headband with large light blue hairballs holding her hair in a low pigtails style. She was going to put her light blue converse shoes on but because they are recovering, she decided to just be barefooted for the time being. After the girls got dressed, they sat on their bed in silence and stared at their feet.

"Do you regret it?" Bubbles finally asked.

"Do I regret what?" Blossom looked up.

"Letting me kill Princess and leaving her father like that." Bubbles leaned on her sisters shoulder.

"No, surprisingly I don't. I pity the man... I honestly do. But I don't regret. Theres a part of me that's happy she's dead because for a moment I wanted kill her myself." Blossom sighed as she stroke her sisters hair. Bubbles looked up in disbelief. "I thought she killed you at one point. I was so mad that I nearly lost control..."

"I see..." Bubbles rested her head back down. "When I saw Mr. Morbucks crying over her... It made me think of the Professor." Blossom stiffened. "Do you think he's ok? Will we'll see him again?"

"I'm sure he's fine where ever he may be. One day, we'll see him again and things can go back to where they were." she lied. Deep down she knows nothing will go back to the way things were. Let alone growing up, they'll have to remember all the lives they've destroyed, all the people that were killed, and the possibility of facing new enemies in the future. Enemies that would be a lot stronger and more serious...

"I miss him..."

"I do too..." Blossom squeezed her sister. They sat there for a while until Blossom spoke again. "I think I developed a new power..."

"What?" Bubbles looked up again.

"When I was fighting Princess, she fired her anti-chemical X at me but some sort of force field stopped it. I don't know how to explain it but, what I imagined came true. Then the ground and pipes starting moving on their own or at least that what it looked like. It felt like nothing around me at the moment matter... Just dealing with her. You would think I would've discovered this power along with my ice breath when we were little." she laughed nervously.

"...Puberty." Bubbles giggled while sitting up.

"Come again?!" Blossom flusstered.

"Although we were strong when we were little, when puberty kicks in we become stronger. I'm guessing because of your hormones, you've awakened a new power. Though I don't know if we'll gain anymore than what we have now... I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Or at least find the professor soon..."

"How do you know all of this?"

"I was told... I mean... (Sighs) I've developed a new power too. During the place I was staying at, I found out that I have Precognition. Where I can see in the future a bit or at least sense what's coming to me. The only problem is... I get migraines from it. So I try not to use it."

"...Did someone tell you all of this?" Blossom asked; disbelieving that her sister could've learned all of it on her own."

"... A friend of mine." Bubbles sat up. "But anyways, it sounds like your new power is Psychokinesis or rather Telekinesis." she looked back at her. "Just wait until I tell Buttercup!" she smiled.

"Er... I don't think that's a good idea..."

"Why?"

"Remember how Buttercup didn't have any special powers when we were little? Even with puberty, I doubt she'll gain any new powers. I don't want her to be jealous of us and have her mind clouded while we're fighting enemies." Bubbles nodded in agreement and the two sisters joined up with the others in, what use to be the Wardens office but is now Robins office and found Mitch and Buttercup rolling on the floor laughing. "What's going on in here?" she raised her brow. Bullet flew around and landed on Robins desk, fighting over a pen with her.

"Pft! I didn't know guys like these existed!" Buttercup laughed.

"What are you talking about?" Blossom questioned. Buttercup pointed to the three boys that were rescued and the leader noticed. Byng wore a long sleeve white shirt with a red short sleeve over it with black jeans. He walked up to Blossom, grabbed her hand and kissed it.

"Thank you for saving us, Blossom." he smiled.

"You better get that hand of yours disinfected." Brick growled as he and his brothers frowned in annoyance and disgusts in the corner.

"Ah-hem!" Byng slide his glasses back up and glared at the Rowdyruff boys. "Anyways, mademoiselle, my name is Byng and I'm the leader of the Rowdyright boys." he smirked and winked at Blossom with glitter flowing everywhere. Bryan, who wore a grey hoodie and blue shorts, ran up to Bubbles and kissed her cheek, leaving the Rowdyruff boys groan in disgust.

"We are ever so grateful! To think beautiful women would come and save us from that wretched girl! There must be someway for us to repay you." Bryan fluttered his long eyelashes at her. Bubbles frowned and backed away from him, holding back the urge to uppercut him.

"Haha! Calm down Bryan!" Byng called out. "Don't frighten the poor darling!" he smiled. "Sorry, my brother can be a bit too affectionate." he laughed. Buttercup and Mitch tried to hold in their laughter in the back as much as they could. It was just too weird and funny to see the guys who share the same faces as the Rowdyruff, to act so... prince charming type.

"As much as we love to repay you and help you win this war... Do tell me why these three misfits are here?"Barak asked as he pointed to the Rowdyruff boys. Barak wore a short sleeve white jacket with a short sleeve green shirt and wore black jeans. Butch hissed and stuck his middle finger at him, Brick shook his fist angrily at him with a vein popping from his head while Boomer decided to make face at him.

"Er... um. They've helped us rescue Her, take over the prison that is now our HQ and helped us track you three down." Blossom blinked.

"I see..." he squinted. "Well excuse me but I don't trust them."

"Well excuse me I don't like ya!" Butch growled while cracking his fist.

"We can finish what we started right here!" Byng joined in.

"Bring it on asswipe!" Brick shouted.

"Boys! Enough!" Blossom shouted with her hands on her hips. "Jeez... Brick, can I talk to you for a second?" she glared.

"Pft! Aint nobody got-" he started but she grabbed his shirt and dragged him outside the room.

"Now Brick!" she demanded.

As soon as they were out of the room, she let go of him. "What's your deal?! I thought you wanted to talk to them about whatever the hell you and your brothers are going through!" she waved her arms around. Brick glanced away and huffed. "Say something will ya?" she poked his chest. Brick looked down at her and grabbed the hand that was poking him.

"I don't like 'em!" he growled.

"You don't even know them."

"I don't have to know someone I don't like!" he huffed again. Blossom sighed.

"You're hopeless... Honestly! At least TRY to get along! And be nice!" she frowned.

"I don't have to be nice to anyone!" he glanced away and crossed his arms.

"You won't get anything you want unless you are nice. It's not like it's going to kill ya! Honestly… But hey look who I'm talking to. A guy who loves to torture a spread havoc anywhere he goes! Killing and torture is in your blood…" she glanced away and crossed her arms.

"I'm nothing like-"

"Your father? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree…"

"You still honestly think I'm a mother fucking monster?! After everything I've done so far-" he glared and had his fists on fire.

"Then prove me wrong!" Blossom turned back around at him. "Prove to me that you are not a monster and that you've changed from a trouble making, egotistical brat, to a man with a heart who can do something! And one way to start is to be nice…" she smirked. Brick threw his head back and let steam exit his mouth. He was so frustrated… Not because he has to be nice to someone who he suppose to hate, but Blossom knows how to get in his mind and under his skin. He pushed Blossom up against the wall and pinned her. "What are you…?"

"I'll be a big boy and play nicely with the new kids. I'll prove to you how much of a good guy I really am and I'm gonna make you fall for me." he smirked.

"You're certainly full of yourself…" she frowned. "You might be able to prove to me how much of a 'good guy' you are. But I will never fall for you."

"Says the girl whose never kissed anyone but me." Brick breathed as he leaned in and kissed her. His lips were hot and burned her deeply within. She squirmed and tried to push him away but she just felt weaker and dizzy with each second his lips were on hers. Soon enough, he left her lips and traveled to her ear and whispered: "Sensitive here aren't you? Heh heh… Keep moaning this loudly and people will start to suspect something." he chuckled. Blossom snapped out of it and slapped him hard. Brick stumbled a couple of feet back and touched his cheek with a red handprint on it.

"T-that's one…" she warned him. Brick frowned and glanced away.

"Sorry… My bad. I went too far. I won't ever do it again. I can promise you that…" he said. The two stood there for a moment in silence to calm down and fix themselves so no one would suspect that something wrong happened. "Hey… I was just kidding when I said I would make you fall for me. I already know there's no chance in hell I can ever get a girl like you." he said without looking at her. Blossom glanced over at him but Brick twisted his hat so she couldn't see his face. "So if there comes a time where a guy makes you feel uncomfortable, let me know so I can beat him up." he half-heartly smiled. Blossom looked away and crossed her arms.

"No thank you. I can handle things myself." she said calmly. She couldn't tell if she heard correctly but she thought she heard Brick smacked his lips in disappointment.

"Fine. Whatever." he said as he stood next to her with his hat facing its normal direction. "Let's go." he said as he opened the door and entered the room. When the two came back in, the Rowdyright boys still had their arms crossed and frowned at their parallel selves. Although the way the stood resembled the type of men who are flamboyant, which made Buttercup and Mitch snicker quietly.

"No wonder these guys were defeated and captured!" Mitch whispered. Just the sight crawled under Bricks skin. How dare they act like a bunch of prissy pansies!

"I'm going to kill these damn clowns!" Brick muttered.

"Ah-hem!" Blossom nudged his arm.

"(Sighs)...Right... Hey, Byng!" he called out. Brick extended his hand out and forcefully smiled, though the smile itself was something closely resembling a psychotic killer with an axe. "Let's start over. My name is Brick. My brothers names are Boomer and Butch. We welcome you to the team and are ever so happy you want to help us win this war. Let's get along!" he said through his teeth. Byng slid his glasses back up and then shook hands.

"Yes... Let's get along, Brick. Although I must say I didn't think you were the type to be whipped." he smiled. Bricks eye twitched as he immediately let go of his opposites hand. Boomer and Butch pulled him to the side so he wouldn't get into a fight.

"Ah-hem! Thank you for joining us... boys." Robin was covering her mouth to try not to laugh as well. "But we have more important matters to discuss. On this tape that Blossom recorded, Princess and the Powerpunk girls said that Him wants the boys to go on a big mission after a check up. We can't have them looking for you guys or just let you three go. Although you have proven to be useful and aid us, what you've done in the past... I should speak for all of us when I say, we still don't trust you three. If you're really on our side, you're going to have to do more than knock a few guards out." Robin said while shooing Bullet away.

"...What do you want us to do?" Butch crossed his arms. "It'll be bad if the girls keep looking for us. We have no choice but to go."

"And you can't possibly replace us with the Wonder Brothers over there. They are just too different from us and would surely get caught." Brick pointed out with Boomer still holding his arm so he won't start swinging at Byng.

"But we can't just send you three by yourselves. It would be a good chance for you guys to betray us and reveal our secrets to Him." Mitch argued.

"If we don't do something though, I'm sure the Powerpunk girls will tear the city apart just to look for them. So do we even have a choice but to let them go?" Harry frowned.

"They'll do more than damage properties, Harry. Knowing them, I'm positive they will even go as far as killing innocent civilians just to get what they want. I wouldn't be surprise if they have already started." Elmer said.

"So what should we do?" Mike turned to Robin.

"Cheep cheep cheep cheep!" Bullet flew to the floor.

"What is it Bullet?" Bubbles asked.

"Cheep cheep cheep cheep!"

"Really? But none of us exactly blends in and I'm sure we'll be questioned."

"Cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep!"

"Are you sure? What if-"

"Cheep cheep cheep cheep."

"Is that so? I see... There's no arguing with you then." Bubbles sighed.

"What did it say?" Bryan asked.

"SHE suggested that she'll go undercover as a normal squirrel and keep an eye on the boys for us." Bubbles shot a dirty look at Bryan. "She's may be small but she can do it." she turned to Robin.

"I may not know how exactly strong your little friend is but if she's as strong as you say, then I trust your judgement." Robin smirked. Bullet flew towards the boys and landed on Boomers shoulder.

"If she as much as looses a strand of fur, I'll have your heads!" Bubbles spat as she pointed to Boomer.

"Keep ya dress on." groaned Butch. "We don't have any intentions of betraying or harming the little fur ball."

"We'll see where you stand IF you return." she frowned. The boys flew out the building with Bullet and met up with the Powerpunk girls somewhere in the city.

"Right... While they're carrying off with that, we still need to improve our new HQ and aid the heroes. Harry and Elmer will be working on the new battle simulation, Mitch will show the Rowdyright boys where our old HQ was and have stuff moved here, Mike will be in the infirmary taking care of the seriously injured heroes while I contact Lady Red and see if she dug up anything." Robin stood from her seat.

"What about us?" Buttercup asked.

"I believe Jomo wanted to see you three in the lab." she said as everyone else started walking off to do their duties. The girls left the room with Robin dialing on the phone and shuffling through papers. The girls went down two floors down to the lab room.

"Jomo? Are you in here?" Blossom asked as she turned on the lights and glanced around.

"Maybe he went to the bathroom real quick." Bubbles suggested after a few minutes of silence.

"Yo! Monkeybutt! Where the hell are you?" Buttercup shouted.

"Girls?" Jomo stepped into the room with bags under his eyes and still had a limp in his step. The girls looked behind them and he motioned his hand for them to follow. "She would like to see you now."

"Wouldn't she want to see her precious boys first?" Bubbles raised her brow.

"Not in the current condition she's in." Jomo shook his head. "Come." he said. The girls followed Jomo to Her room where she was taking a sip of Holy water. Though she was not fully healed, she looked much better than when they first saw her. Her wounds were healed but she was still pale and her wings were still heavily damaged. She wore a short sleeve violet dress and sat on the edge of the bed.

"Dear children of justice... Bringing your beloved sister back is... (Sighs) Are you sure you want to bring a rested soul back to this world?" Her asked. The girls all nodded their heads. "I see... I will bring her back. However, I can't promise you she will stay within this world."

"What do you mean?" Blossom frowned.

"What I mean is that if she dies during the war, her soul will forever stay in purgatory. But should she survive till the end of the war, her soul shall return to heaven."

"Whoa! Wait! Isn't there a way for her to not, ya know, die?" Buttercup asked. She couldn't believe it! Not only did they save her and the rest of the so call heroes but they've saved her precious sons and gave her Holy water!

"She does not belong in the world of the living in the first place. Having her temporarily staying here to aid us, is pushing it enough. Now, when she gets here, do not mention her limited time on Earth. "

"I... WE understand. Don't we girls?" Blossom asked. Bubbles and Buttercup crossed their arms but agreed anyways.

"Good. Do you guys have anything that belongs to her?" shed asked. Buttercup handed Her a small piece of Bunny's dress that was in the box back at the old HQ. The only remaining thing left from her tragic demise. The angel set the cloth in the middle of the room, waved her hands and chanted. Winds and lights surround the cloth, covering it completely and blinding all who try to see what the angel was doing. "Welcome back, Bunny." she smiled warmly. Everyone looked to where the cloth was and instead saw a girl sitting on the floor. She had short brunette hair with locks curling under each of her purple eyes, a purple bunny pin holding her bangs in place, and a side ponytail that was braided all the way down her hips. She rocked a dark and light violet shirt with black skinny jeans and violet boots.

"Why she's..." Bubble started.

"Normal looking!" Buttercup blurted out.

"Buttercup!" Blossom warned. Buttercup glanced away and put her hands behind her head.

"Wh-what? What's going on? Who are all of you? Where am I?" Bunny started to panic.

"Shhh... Calm yourself young one. There is much to discuss." Her knelt down and extended her hand to the young and new power puff. Bunny took the hand and the angel helped her up. Bunny glanced around, confused and curious. "A long time ago, you've died. But with my power, I've resurrected you because you are needed once more. Your name is Bunny and these three girls are your sisters: Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup." the angel started. Bunny looked around and gave an uneasy smiled to everyone. She looked back at the angel with confusion still in her eyes.

"Bunny..." Blossom took a step forward. "I believe there is a way for you to understand things a bit easier. Come with me. There is something I would like to show you." she smiled. Hesitate at first, Bunny eventually agreed and followed her sister to the old HQ into the room where a message from the professor was waiting for her.

"Hello, Bunny. I am the Professor. I originally created your sisters to bring joy into my life since at the time, things around me only brought distress. However, because of an accident, chemical X was mixed in with the ingredients and thus creating the Powerpuff girls. It took a while for the world to accept your sisters because they were special like you. However, through time they've proven to everyone that they are indeed good girls and they've been fighting off the forces of evil for years. One day however, things were too difficult for them and they needed someone to help them. So they created you, though you look and probably think differently than what you use to. You can thank the angel for the resurrection. As of right now we are in a war and we need your help. Even though we usually don't plan on killing our enemies, this time we have no choice. Things have gotten out of control and they all need to be stopped once and for all. Now girls, if you are still in the room, I would like to talk to Bunny privately. And no using your super hearing abilities." the professor on the screen said. The girls groaned but still left the room with Bunny staring at the screen. "Now then, because of being unstable, you perished after saving your sisters from being killed by prisoners you freed." he said in a serious tone. Bunny took a step back in disbelief with her jaw dropped and her eyes wide open. "But it's only because you did not understand what they told you and you lacked training. Don't worry though, the people who are working with your sisters will help you with that. They will also help you with your powers that may be different than your sisters. Look for someone who can help you with that and asked Blossom to give you your pills."

"Pills?" Bunny wrinkled her nose.

"These pills will make sure you won't explode like last time. Even though the angel resurrected you, I'm sure even with her power she can't prevent you from being unstable." he said before the video went out. Silence filled the room with Bunny standing in the middle of it all. Though her memory is hazy... she remembers standing in the middle of the road at night and she felt funny. For a split second, she felt pain and then nothing... She doesn't want to relive something like that again and leave her sisters broken hearted once more. Not this time. She glanced at an empty flask and saw a horrible reflection. A huge, ugly monster... A deform version of herself. Bunny shrieked and zapped the glass with her laser eyes. She remembers now... She was a hideous monster who committed crime after crime and nearly killed her sisters. No amount of redemption could make up for what she did.

"Bunny!" her sisters cried as they barged in. "Are you ok? What happened?" they each asked.

"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to..." Bunny sniffed as tears were starting to form. Blossom looked at the broken glass on the ground and sighed.

"It's ok... As long as you're not hurt." Blossom smiled as she went in to hug Bunny.

"Don't know what we would do if something happened to you." Bubbles joined in.

"W-what? You... you're not mad at me?" Bunny asked.

"Why would we be mad at you for breaking a piece of glass? It was an accident. Trust me, there's things we've done worse that were accidents." Buttercup laughed. "But so you can control your powers properly, let's go see Elmer and Harry in the battle simulation room. In there you'll control your powers, learn them as you go and practice fighting the bad guys with us."

"Fight along with you guys?" she asked while wiping her tears away.

"Yeah! We're gonna need you." Bubbles smile.

"After she complete her training that is." Blossom said sternly. "She needs experience."

"Yeah yeah whatever!" Buttercup rolled her eyes. "Right now we should be celebrating! Have a party!"

"For what?"

"Reuniting with each other after eleven years, taking over this prison, saving other heroes, defeating Princess, having Bunny back in the picture... Do I need to give you anymore reasons?" Buttercup raised her brow.

"A party sounds fun!" Bubbles agreed. "It will also give a chance for Bunny to get to know everyone here."

"As fun as it sounds. We can't. Everyone is busy improving this place and aiding the fallen. We're in a middle of a war! We can't afford partying." Blossom shocked her head.

"Awwww!" her sisters whined.

"...But if nothing comes up tomorrow, then I'm sure we can throw a party. Let me just talk to Robin about it." Blossom glanced away and scratched the back of her head. Bunny and Bubbles tackled Blossom and giggled as Buttercup fist pumped with a grin. The girls went back to the prison with the Rowdyright boys except for Buttercup who decided to help Mitch finish clearing things out.

It was a stormy night at the prison. Some of the heroes continued stayed up working out to get stronger. Others rested so their wounds would heal or they just had a long day. Harry and Elmer finally were done with the battle simulation room but failed at getting to their beds to rest. After bringing the last of the stuff from the previous HQ and making sure there was no trace of its existence, Mitch and Buttercup crashed together on a couch in a break room. Major Glory came in at one point and wrapped a blanket around the two sleeping teens. Bunny and her sisters were cuddled up together sleeping while their friend, Robin, fell asleep at her desk from working too much. Ms. Bellum went off on her own mission to investigate Hims minions, while the boys and Bullet were still gone on their undercover mission. Jomo and Her stayed up talking as the Rowdyright boys slept in the next room. It was a peaceful moment for everyone as they waited for their next attack... However, with each flash of lightning and each roll of thunder... Something dark and sinister has made its way closer and closer to Mike who slept vulnerably in front of his attacker.
