Dreams Don't Turn to Dust

Chapter 11 – Run (Flashback part 2)

5 months later…

(BPOV)

"She's so beautiful," I said softly so that Nessie, my daughter wouldn't be disturbed in her peaceful sleep.

"Yes, she looks like you," Edward agreed.

"Nah. Look, she looks more you than me. She'll not be this pretty if she looked like me," I joked.

Edward just chuckled softly and he nestled both Nessie and me in his warms arms. This is the life that I wanted, the family that I wished I had. I just felt overly loved, almost drowned by love, but I liked it. I closed my eyes, trying to catch some sleep, which was deprived to me because of waking up in unearthly hours to feed Nessie.

We were just out from the hospital a week ago. Giving birth was very hard and painful, but very fulfilling. All the things that happened for the past nine months, all the things and hardships that I'd experienced were all worth it because of my baby. I had never felt this kind of love before. It was like the love that only a mother and a daughter could share. I must say that it was very wonderful. As soon as she came to this world, to my world, she immediately meant the world to me.

I still couldn't believe that she was real. I still couldn't believe that I would be able to give birth to someone as beautiful and precious like her. I had never thought of having a baby at this age, but the idea didn't seem to be bad now. She made me happy, she made Edward and his family happy and that was what's important.

"I had already paid the down payment for the house," Edward suddenly said before I was finally drifting to sleep.

What he said instantly made me feel awake even though I was so sleepy earlier.

"What? How did you afford that? I thought we were not asking money from your parents to buy that house. I thought that we'll be using our own money." I looked at him after speaking. He was wearing an amused expression on his face.

"I didn't ask for money, what I used was mine. I just did a little modeling and a part time job. I was able to save up for the down payment and I just paid it earlier. I want to the house to be surely sold to us before I go to college next week," he explained.

I knew about his part time job, he was working as a barista in some café half an hour away from here. It was just me who knew of it. He didn't tell his parents because he knew that they would not agree on him working because, hell, they didn't even need to work to have money. I think the millions that they had inherited from Edward's grandparents, Carlisle parents, would last until my grandchildren had already had their own grandchildren already. I was just glad that Edward didn't want to use the money for his personal wants.

I stood up and I walked until I reached Nessie's crib. I carefully placed the small pillow under her head and I gently tucked her in so she wouldn't wake up. When I was sure that she was comfortable, I sank back to bed again to talk to Edward.

"You should have told me your plans. I should have given you my part. What you paid was too much. Another thing, please let's not talk about you, leaving for college, the thought makes me sad," I chided him.

"I'm sorry, love. I told you that you should just keep your savings incase emergency happens. What I paid to the owner…well soon to be ex-owner was from my sweat and blood. It felt so good when I have handed him the money already. It was such a big achievement for me," he said animatedly.

I laughed softly at the enthusiasm on his voice. I was proud of him too of course. The rich boy managed to buy something not using his parents' money instead he used his own that he worked hard for. I gave him a sweet chaste kiss on the lips and then I smiled genuinely at him. I couldn't hide the happiness that I was feeling. We were finally having our dream house…well, just about to have, but at least it was secure.

The house was not as big as the mansion that we were staying in right now. It was just small, four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The house looked old because nobody had been there for years, but when it was painted and refurnished, I'm sure that it would look good as new again. I'm so excited on having our own house; I'm excited on what I could do when I already have my own kitchen.

"I'm so proud of you," I told him sincerely.

He smiled a bit and then he enveloped me in his arms. He just made me feel more convinced on what I wanted in my life. I want to be his wife and I want to be the mother of his children. I know it would happen someday.

8 months later…

I felt extremely excited on seeing Edward again. The last time that I saw him was before New Year. It was really disappointing that he had to leave early just a few days after Christmas because he had tons of things to do at school. Oh well, days without him were really boring and uneventful. I don't know what I'd do if Nessie was not there. Sometimes we talk, but it rarely happens because he was always busy. I didn't want to be a distraction to him so I didn't call him; I just wait for him to call, because when he does, I know that he was really free and available. So we just exchange texts, and I couldn't say that I was contended with that.

Esme was the one who thought of the idea of surprising Edward for his birthday. She said that he would really be happy if Nessie and I would be there with him. I agreed with her. Edward had been telling me a lot lately that he misses us so much, and that it sucks that we couldn't video call because he had so many schoolwork to do.

So I was here, finally in front of Edward's apartment with Nessie in my arms. Well, I had never thought of traveling to here. This place was much more different than Seattle, at least here there was sun. She looked up at me with her big green eyes which reminded me of her father. It was like she was asking why I was not yet knocking or opening the door yet.

So I did. I knocked three times and then I opened the door. When I opened the door, I was surprised with what I saw. The apartment was completely messed up. Trash, bottles, foods and other unrecognizable things were scattered on the floor. There were a lot of people inside and they were dancing, drinking, and some were even making-out. Well, looks like someone was having a party and he didn't even invite me. He was going to pay for this.

The music was blaring which was not good for Nessie's ear. She really hates loud music. The music that I play to her was just Edward's compositions and she seemed to love them. It could even make her fall asleep. I covered my baby's tiny ears and then I entered the room that was jam packed with people and trash.

The room smelled as bad as it looks. The smell of alcohol and people's sweat mixed with junk foods didn't really smell nice. The smell made me feel nauseous. Nessie dove her head to my chest, as if also avoiding the bad smell, what a smart girl. My eyes went searching for Edward, but there was no sight of his bronze hair. I stopped searching when I was approached by someone.

"Hey! Who are you? I have never seen you in campus before!" she said loudly through the loud music.

I looked at her. She was just my height, her hair was velvet black, she was not really that pretty, but she dresses too much. Before I could even answer, some of her friends, I think, were there and asking her to dance with them.

"Hey, who's this beautiful girl…with a baby?" A blond guy asked. He was looking at Nessie intently and then she started to whimper. He was scaring her.

"I…I'm Bella, I'm Edward's girlfriend and this is our baby," I told them as loud as I could. Damn the loud music.

All their eyes went wide. It was like they were so shocked. After a minute, they were all laughing. It irritated me. I didn't know what was funny with what I said. I just said that I was Edward's girlfriend and we have a baby, what the hell was funny with that?

"Good luck on finding him," one of them said and then they all went to dance.

I searched all over the house. I was about to give up until I realized that I haven't been on his room yet. Maybe he was there.

As fast as I could, I rushed to his room. I was so excited when I was finally there. I didn't even bother knocking. I entered the room excitedly, but then, I was surprised with what I saw. So this was all their good lucks about?

The sight made me want to vomit. Edward was making out with a blonde on his bed. Things were getting pretty heavy until I arrived. They both stopped when they heard that someone opened the door. Edward looked at me with his green orbs, but I looked away. I didn't realize that tears were rolling down my cheeks. My chest hurt so badly and I just wanted to run.

I dared to look again, but I couldn't, so I just ran. It took me time before I managed to get out of his apartment. He didn't even follow me; he didn't even try to explain. What the hell was he thinking? Was that the reason why he was not calling? He was cheating on me, he was keeping secrets from and he was lying to me.

I ran and ran until the house was out of sight. I had almost forgotten that I have a baby in my arms. Nessie was crying too, and it pained me even more. I hushed her until she stopped crying. I hated ii that she had to see what I saw earlier. I still couldn't understand why Edward would do that.

Me and my daughter went home in despair and we never looked back. Little did I know, it was the last time that I will ever see him.
