There was a sound, a bird type sound, that faded over the ship. My adrenaline was coursing through my veins in nervous-excitement. I felt like, a bad-ass. I grinned, I was a bad ass, a vigilante, bad ass. A guard passed by, making his rounds. I had stolen food before, but not for a whole ship, never. I felt ready, oddly enough, ready to help these people, these fellow refugee's. The bird sound caught my attention again.

"It's time." Zuko whispered grabbing my hand and helping me up. He was hot, temperature wise, his hand was like a furnace against my skin, I shivered from the warmth.

"Lets... 'liberate'." I teased, with a chuckle. Zuko rolled his eye's.

Another guard passed us and disappeared around the corner. Zuko dashed up the stairs without a sound, I followed. Jet and Smeller bee some how ended up right behind us. Longshot was waiting for us on the deck. We entered the Kitchen packing away anything edible. Zuko pulled out a sword, that then broke into two. That is what that was? I thought to myself, watching him effortlessly flip four full food bowls onto another four bowls stacked them and tied a bow. He grinned at my shocked expression. "Guard" Smeller bee warned. I held one sack of food but the other wasn't full, I quickly stuffed the bag, while the others ran out of the room. An arrow tied to rope logged itself into a nearby banister, it must have been the escape route. Zuko and the others slid the food down to the lower deck, where Smeller-Bee and Long Shot collected them.

"After you." Said zuko looking at the rope. Jet grinned at him and pulled out a bent blade, he slid down the string. Zuko followed behind, hearing the clinking of metal in the distance. Once on the lower quadrant, he looked around, they seemed to be missing someone. Long shot pulled the bow. "Wait." It was too late, the escape rope was down.

"Where's the girl?" Jet hissed.

"Shit, Shit." I whispered to myself I ran across the deck and decided I only had one way down. I flew off of the banister, literally. I seemed suspended in the air, gravity had no effect on me. I landed swiftly and quietly behind the guys. "Are we going?" I asked causing them both, to jump in surprise. "C'mon." I turned on my heel and we ran.

"What's your name again?" Jet asked running next to me.

"Uh,Chiyo." I replied.

Jet and I passed out food while the others talked and ate. The refugee's where so thankful. I felt amazing inside, knowing I had helped them. I wanted to know more about this 'Jet' guy and his 'Freedom Fighters'. I could tell just by observation that either a war was in progress or a war had happened. It seemed the Fire Nation was invading or controlling everyone and that many were seeking refugee in the Earth Kingdom city of Ba Sing Se. From what I could tell and by how many times Zuko and Iroh warned me to never show my powers in public, I gathered that Fire was bad.

"So Jet" I asked. "How did you become a freedom fighter?"

Jet was not hesitant in telling me everything. His face was somber as whispered to me. "The fire nation, killed my parent's when I was eight years of age."

"Thank you two so much." A young woman, cradling a baby bowed to us, tears in her eyes.

Jet and I bowed back. I looked at him. "I'm sorry." Was all I could say, knowing anything else would just be nonsense, I knew what it was like to lose your family. We finished handing out food and were heading over to the side of the boat not to far from Iroh, Zuko, and Jet's friends.

"How about you?" Asked Jet, his hands in his pockets. "Where are your parent's, why are you traveling with Mushy and Lee?"

I bit my bottom lip. It always hurt to talk about my past, even the good parts of it. "Well." I started off taking in a deep breath and exhaling. "My mother died when I was 6 and my father." I tightened my hands into fists. "My father wasn't around." I lied about the father part, the real truth about my father was that he was an evil man. I closed my eyes and took in the salty air. "I've been on my own for a while and thought I was doing fine until one night, I was ambushed and wound up half dead, floating down a river."

"Half dead?" Jet asked amazed and upset. "Who would do that, to you?"

I shrugged. "Things happen." I said to the Freedom Fighter. "Well, Z-Lee found me in that river and Mushy helped me heal. Ever since then, I have traveled with them." I leaned backwards against the rail, basking in the sea breeze and moonlight.

"You know, Chiyo." Jet leaned in close, one hand gripping the railing on both sides of me. "You, are amazing."

I blushed, his scent wafted into my nose. It was a forest-y and spice like smell. It was amazing. I blushed, looking down at my feet, uncomfortably. I liked this and hated it at the same time. I didn't like when men where that close to me, only Zuko could get away with it at times, but they usually kept a comfortable distance away from me.

"Don't do that." I said to him, pushing him away from me. "I don't like it."

Jet blushed. "I-I'm sorry." He replied, scratching at the back of his head. He hadn't meant to upset her.

Zuko kept an eye on Jet watching intently as he inched near Keana. This is so wrong. He thought too himself. I have a girlfriend back home. He shook his head. What home? He focused on Keana again, her long black curls bounced around her face and across the wind, the moon as always, he had noticed, kissed her skin with its gentle rays making her eye's glow the same color as the moon itself. He also realized how Jet was leaning towards her, his arms on either side of her, a smirk on his face. He watched closely, slowly eating his food. Keana looked uncomfortable and if he had to intervene he would. He watched as she pushed him away, a faint smirk crossed the Prince's face, he kept glancing up at the 'Freedom Fighter', watching as he backed off, putting his hands in his pocket. Zuko relaxed and began to eat his food in peace. They began to walk towards them.

"So, you and Lee" Jet asked, knowing that, his move right there usually gets him to kiss the girl, but she didn't, instead, she made him back off, uncomfortably.

"What?" I asked stopping in my tracks. "Excuse me?"

Jet looked at me amused. "He's your boyfriend right?"

I looked at Zuko who had his head down as he quietly ate. "Whoa!" I nearly could not contain my shock ."He is not my boy friend!" I had said that a bit louder than anticipated. Everyone looked up from there meals to stare at me. I felt my cheeks go red. I stared at the prince, we made eye contact.

Zuko choked on his food. "When do we get to Ba Sing Se?" He asked, quickly trying to change the topic running through everyone's head.

"Patience, nephew, patience." Iroh chuckled, staring at his nephew, who's pale face had turned bright red.

I looked at Jet in the eye. "I'll tell you something 'freedom fighter'." My words were a bit harsh. "Just because a women rejects you, it doesn't mean she is with someone else, maybe she just, isn't that in to you."

Jet stared at her with wide eyes, never had someone said that to him before. She was a ball of lava this girl, he thought to himself. He liked that. He liked that, a lot. She left him and walked over to their group.

I felt so uncomfortable and embarrassed when we came back to the group. The only two empty seats would leave me next to Jet and Zuko. I didn't want to be near either, but I definitely did not want to be near Jet. I looked at Zuko as I approached and he seemed to catch on immediately, moving to a new spot, allowing me to be next to Iroh. After that, he avoided eye contact with me the whole night.

The sun burned her skin and heated the sand until it burned at her soles."NO!" Toph yelled slamming her hands Into the sinking tower. Everything was going to hell. Aang and the others where still inside the library and now Sand-benders where trying to steal Appa. Toph had a delimma, Save Appa and let her friends die or save her friends and let Appa be captured. She couldn't and wouldn't chose. She desperately tried to do both, save them both. Her bones screaming, she would not stop until she physically could not go on anymore.

"Tie it down!"Sand benders yelled trying to capture the creature.

"APPA!" Toph screamed at the top of her lungs. She was desperate and she hated being desperate. She hated sand, she hated being blind and she hated feeling so useless and weak. "FIGHT APPA! FIGHT!Fly away!"Her voice was hoarse and dry, it cracked with every plea. The bison roared, struggling in his battle. He listened to Toph's screams. He furiously tried to fly off. Breaking the ropes the benders wrapped around him.

Toph let go of the tower, turning and slamming her foot against the wall and holding it up. "You're so dead!" she yelled shooting sand at one of there boats breaking it in half. Appa snapped at one of the men. "Muzzle him!" A Sand-bender shouted.

"Stay Away from him!" Toph screamed, shooting sand blindly at blurred targets. "You're stealing from a blind girl!" She screamed desperately. Tears staining her cheek. She couldn't lose Appa! Aang would never for give her, she wouldn't forgive herself. She let go of the building shooting sand in all directions, catching some of them off guard but she could feel the building sinking faster. "NO!" She shouted, slamming her knuckles into the building. She braced herself with both feet and screamed as she lifted the building with all of her might. "NO!" She cried into the burning, hot sky as she heard Appa's cries fade away. "I'm so sorry."

The building shook, rattled and crumbled. "C'mon" Sokka urged the calendar to go faster. There was no time, this building was going to crash at any moment. "I know when the next eclipse is!" He shouted running through the halls, dodging falling debris.

"That's great, now, let's go!" Aang yelled grabbing Sokka and running out of the crumbling building.

"Katara! Why are you still in here?" Sokka yelled seeing his sister on the other side of the main room.

"The rope broke." She shouted dodging the giant Owl's attack. "Can we go, please!?" She slid underneath the great beast and ran towards them.

"NO!" They heard a gut wrenching scream, a sound they had never heard before. The despair and pain in her voice alarmed everyone.

"Toph?" Aang jumped up into the air and knocked out the giant bird. Opening his air glider he yelled. "Hop On!" Katara and Sokka eagerly latched on to the open wooden staff.

"Toph!?" She heard familiar voices shouting from above. She let go of the building and fell to her knee's covering her face with her hands the blood from her knuckles running down her arm's. She could feel it, like static in the sand, when Aang and the others landed. There muffled steps running towards her. Her back was to them.

"Where's Appa?" Was Aangs first question, after he realized that his bison was not there.

"I'm sorry." Toph said struggling to stand up, her arms and legs ached. She had over exerted herself. Her legs refused to hold her weight, she couldn't bring herself to face her friends.4

"Toph..."Aang asked again, his voice full of frustration. "Where is Appa?"

"Oh my La!" Katara gasped. Noticing the sand around the Earth Bender, red and brown with blood. Katara raced forward but her brother beat her, racing past his younger sister with his long strides.

Two large and strong hands slid underneath the petite benders arms, lifting her up. "Sand benders came, the building was sinking" Toph's voice shook as she tried to explain what had hapened, as she tried to tell Aang, where Appa had gone. "I tried, I tried..." Her voice caught in her throat as she fought the instense urge to cry.

"You tried?" The Avatar's voice shook. "You tried? That's it!" He was shouting now. "You didn't try!" Aang yelled. "If you had tired, Appa would still be here!"

"Aang." Katara tried to intervene. She saw Toph, she saw the blood, but Aang, Aang couldn't see anything. He was blind, blind with his feelings. She knew how much Appa meant to him, his friend, companion, last piece of his life before the extinction. But, that was no excuse for how he was speaking to Toph.

"You never liked Appa anyway! You just let them take him." He screamed at the Earth Bender, the woman he thought was his friend, his mentor. He couldn't se past his anger and sadness, he couldn't see how the back of her hands and down her arms were stained in red, he didn't noticed the contusions forming on her legs and feet, he didn't see her pain, not over his.

Sokka cradled the Earth bender in his arms, she was silent, but her body shook, something he knew she couldn't control. "Aang!" Sokka and Katara shouted in unison.

"Look at her!" Katara snapped. "Look at the blood in the sand, look at the blood on her arms and hands and over her feet, look at her condition!" She shook her head. "You are going to tell her that she didn't try?!" The water bender was furious, tears forming in the corners of her eyes. "HOW DARE YOU, AANG!" She flipped a hand forward. "Look at her, how can you say that."

He suddenly felt guilty, Toph hadn't even argued against him, she had barely said anything after being taken into Sokka's arms. "I'm looking for Appa." Was all Aang said before flying off.

When Aang was gone, Sokka walked her over to Katara. "We should wrap these up." He said to his sister. "Maybe you can heal them a bit.

A/N: I'm trying to figure out how Keana will play a vital part and how they'll meet any suggestions?
