A/N: This is the third and final story. It is Beauty and the Beast starring Supermartian.

Megan is Belle, Conner is the Beast, La'gaan is Gaston, J'onn is Maurice, Garth is LeFou, Sphere is Philippe (the horse) Dinah is Mrs. Potts, Gar is Chip, Wally is Lumiere, Kaldur is Cogsworth, Artemis is Babette (the feather duster), Raquel is the Wardrobe, Barbara, Karen, and Cassie are the triplets, Hal is the book seller and Zatanna is the enchantress.

For Conner's Beast form, I pictured him as Wolf but black instead of white. I couldn't find anything about what La'gaan might look like with a humanoid body, so I just made something up.

As always, I have tried to put my own spin on the story so that it's not a blatant rip off. I gave Conner a reason to be so angry, a different reason for Megan being viewed as odd, etc.

Please enjoy!

Once Upon a Time

Supermartian – "Beauty and the Beast"

Part One

Once upon a time in a far away kingdom known as Kryptonne, a young prince lived in a shining castle. The prince had an army of servants at his disposal, and everything one could ask for to live the most luxurious of lifestyles.

There was one thing that the prince did not have. His father the king had hidden him away from the rest of Kryptonne, for the prince had been born illegitimately. King Clark did not want his throne to be assumed by such a child, and so he showered the boy with material objects to buy his silence. As long as the illegitimate prince, Conner, made no claim for the throne, he could have everything he desired.

Because of this, the young prince grew up with feelings of abandonment. These feelings gave way to anger as the prince got older. Conner had no kindness or love in his heart. Instead, he grew to care only for his possessions.

On one cold winter's night, someone knocked upon the castle doors. A beggar woman was seeking shelter from the bitter cold. In exchange for staying the night inside the castle, she offered Prince Conner a single red rose.

Conner was repulsed at the sight of such a creature in his home. He would not have a filthy commoner sullying his treasures. The prince ordered the head of his staff, Kaldur, to drive the peasant away.

The beggar woman's shape shifted into that of an enchantress. She had long ebony hair and startlingly blue eyes. "Prince Conner of the House of Kent, you have offended me," she declared in a regal voice. "I am the sorceress Zatanna, and you will pay for the rudeness and apathy you have shown to me."

The prince began to plead with her at once. "My Lady, I did not know who you were! You are clearly a beautiful and powerful woman. Why would you disguise yourself in such a manner? Anyone would be confused. Please, come inside at once. My servants will prepare a comfortable room for you. We will feast on the finest foods."

The enchantress looked upon the prince disdainfully. "How dare you question me? Looks are deceiving, young prince. Beauty is found within. This is the lesson you must be taught. I will make you as ugly on the outside as you are on the inside."

Zatanna's form rose into the air. She held her hands out in front of her body and began to recite a spell. As she spoke, her body glowed an eerie shade of blue. "Nrut mih otni eht tsaeb eh si!"

Conner's body was absorbed in the same eerie blue color. When her magic had been worked, Conner no longer looked like himself. He was covered in thick black fur. He could feel that his teeth had become fangs. The prince still stood on his legs like a man and his clothing had been torn. The sorceress conjured a mirror so that he could see his reflection. His features were wolf-like and Conner recoiled at the sight of his own face. He truly was the monster that Zatanna had said he would be.

The prince's body was not the only thing that had been changed. The castle had been transformed into a sinister version of its former self. The interior was dark and the prince's precious possessions lay in piles on the floor, smashed to bits.

His servants were not themselves, either. Kaldur was now an ornate clock. One of the kitchen boys, Wally, was a candlestick. The head housekeeper, Dinah Queen, was a teapot and her young son Gar a teacup. Artemis, a young, pretty maid, was a feather duster. His seamstress, Raquel, had been turned into a wardrobe.

Conner was glad to find that he still possessed the power of speech. "What have you done to me?" Prince Conner roared angrily.

"Nothing you didn't deserve," Zatanna remarked coldly. She pointed her finger at the rose she had offered him. It flew into the air to hover beside her. "This rose will bloom until the day of your twenty-first birthday five years from now. If in that time you can learn to love and be loved in return, the curse shall be lifted and you will be returned to your original state."

The sorceress waved her hand and disappeared in a flash of light.

Prince Conner went on a rampage through his castle. He tore every portrait of himself to shreds and smashed a number of his treasures into even smaller pieces.

Ashamed of his appearance, the prince concealed himself inside his castle. He left it only when he needed to hunt for food in the nearby forest.

Zatanna had left the mirror behind. Conner soon learned that she had charmed that object as well. It could show him whatever he wanted to see. He used the mirror to constantly gaze upon his father in hopes that King Clark was coming to aid him, but the king never appeared. Instead, King Clark and Queen Lois announced the birth of their daughter, Princess Kara. Conner knew that his father had wanted a legitimate child more than anything else. Now that there was a proper heir to the throne, Conner knew that he was on his own.

He kept the enchanted rose in his bedchamber under a glass case. The weeks passed and gradually turned into months and then into years. The rose began to wilt as the prince's twenty-first birthday grew nearer. Conner fell into despair. The prince was certain that he would be doomed to be a monster for the rest of his days.

For who could ever learn to love a beast?
