Chapter 11
The Turn
"Suki, you are going to be alright," said Ty Lee as she forced a smile on her face. She was trying to convince Suki but at the same time, she too was trying to convince herself.
Suki smiled. She felt glad that Ty Lee was beside her. She had known her for as long as she could remember and she had always been there.
Ty Lee heard footsteps rushing towards her. She looked up. It was Yamamoto and the rest.
"Katara!" she said relieved.
"Ty Lee! Suki! What happen?" asked Katara as she ran towards her.
"She got hit," Ty Lee said, clearly worried.
"Let me take a look," said Katara.
Katara kneeled next to Suki and took out her small gourd of water. Using her water bending skills, she took out the water and let it float just a few inches away from Suki's body. Acting like a scanner, she was able to feel the chi through the water. This is bad. She thought.
Katara looked at Suki, worried. "It's bad isn't it?" asked Suki.
"No it's not. You will be up and about in no time," said Katara. Now she knows why Ty Lee was so worried, this is not a normal injury.
"You don't have to lie to me Katara," said Suki.
"Sukki!" Sokka said worried as he held Suki's hand. "Katara, can you do something about it?" asked Sokka.
Katara nodded. She closed her eyes. The injury was bad but there was something that she could do to make it slightly better. Just to slow down the injury from worsening so that they could find an expert in time. She tried to concentrate and worked on her bending to heal Suki.
"I think it's working!" said Ty Lee as she saw Suki's chi disappearing at a slower rate. Suddenly it stopped disappearing and there was a slight joy in her heart when suddenly things worsen. Suki started coughing badly. The chi started to decline at a faster pace than before. Katara stopped immediately and the water was splashed to the ground.
"What's happening?" Sokka asked worried as Suki continued to cough. This time, she was coughing off blood.
"She rejected it! Her body," Katara said trembling.
"What are you saying?" asked Toph.
"Her body rejected my healing," said Katara, her eyes widened in horror. This had never happened before. Never.
"No way. It can't be," said Ty Lee.
"What?" Sokka asked.
"I heard about this before from Ozai. He said that the Fire Nation was trying to create some sort of technique that can deplete someone's chi," said Ty Lee. She then paused.
"And?" asked Toph.
"But I don't understand, it can only be done if they had a sample of her blood," Ty Lee said confused. There was a long pause.
"Maybe they do," said Sokka breaking the silence.
"What are you talking about?" asked Katara.
"During the competition remember? You guys fought them," said Sokka.
"Oh no… This is bad! This is bad!" said Ty Lee her voice trembling with fear.
"What is it?" asked Toph.
"No!" said Ty Lee as she placed her hand on her head, clearly shaken.
"Ty Lee what is it?!" asked Toph holding Ty Lee's shoulder.
"Once you are hit with that technique you can't be healed and water bending will make it worse," said Ty Lee with fear in her eyes.
Meanwhile
Hibari and Gokudera walked along the corridor.
"Where are we walking to?" asked Gokudera.
Hibari looked around. There had to be some kind of passage around here.
"You asked me to follow you and now here we have no idea-"
BOOM!
Before Gokudera could finish his sentence they both heard a loud explosion. They both looked at each other and ran towards the direction of the sound. As they got closer they saw a bookshelf and a flight of stairs leading down. Suddenly a man was thrown up from the flight of stairs. He landed on his back.
"Ah!" he grunted in pain.
"You," said Gokudera as he looked at Kahchi.
"Gokudera," he raised his hand expecting Gokudera to help him up.
Hibari looked at Gokudera. "Your friend?"
Gokudera looked at Kahchi. There was a pause before he turned away.
"You are not going to help me?" Kahchi asked surprised.
Gokudera paused. "It seems like you are mistaken about me. I am your enemy." He gave Kahchi one last look before walking away.
"Gokudera!" Kahchi shouted as he struggled to get up but failed. "Gokudera!" Hibari and Gokudera continued to rush down the flight of stairs not caring about him. As they get closer to the bottom they saw a figure struggling to get up. Gokudera squint his eyes trying to make up who the figure is.
Gokudera and Hibari then reached the bottom of the stairs and Gokudera realised that the figure was Azula but she was not alone. Gokudera looked up and he could not believe his eyes.
"Tenth?"
