Charlotte felt like she was being restrained, though there was nothing apparent restraining her. It was like there was some sort of force pulling her backward.
She looked around, she had no idea where she was or how she got there. It wasn't a place that she recognized, but it felt familiar somehow. It was a mall for sure, but not one that she remembered, definitely not in the city. There was a stage with a crowd that had gathered around it. She couldn't see who was on stage, but as her feet carried her toward it she recognized the voice that was ringing in her ears.
Rachel Berry. She didn't know about this event. Maybe she wasn't cut out to be a publicist after all. She tried to run to the stage, but the more she ran the further away it seemed to get. But she ran, she had to. She ran until she found that she was no longer inside the mall, but rather enshrouded in darkness.
Charlotte bolted awake thinking I can't lose Rachel. When she managed to get her breathing under control. She's had these kinds of dreams before. Where she's trying to get to something or someone, but she ends up in pure darkness. She's had these nightmares for as long as she can remember. She's actually afraid of the dark. She doesn't like it; she even sleeps with a nightlight. And she always wakes up panicked, but it was different this time. Usually she panics because of the darkness, this time she panicked because of Rachel.
Charlotte knew she wasn't going back to sleep, so she went to the kitchen and made herself a cup of coffee. She wrote down the dream in her journal, and then opened her laptop.
Before she realized what she was doing, she had googled Rachel Berry. She justified it to the fact that she was her publicist, so she should know anything that's on the internet about her.
Charlotte found tons of information she didn't know. Rachel had been singing and dancing since she was just a tot. Rachel was captain of her high school glee club. Rachel was Jewish. Rachel had two fathers.
Charlotte found a picture of Rachel's high school glee club, New Directions, when they had won Nationals during Rachel's senior year. She found Rachel in the photo rather easily, but she didn't seem as elated as Charlotte would have imagined. She also spotted Santana in the photo.
She found some videos of the New Directions dated around the time Rachel was in high school, and Charlotte decided to watch some.
The first one she watched was one of their songs from the year they won Nationals. She watched another video which says something about Original Songs. Charlotte was so captivated by Rachel and her performance. And after the video was over she read that Rachel had actually written that song.
She thought about suggesting that Rachel sing that song on her new album. She clicked on the link for the next video, which was apparently another original song sung in the same competition.
She saw Rachel right away, and she even saw Santana, but what really captured her attention wasn't either of them. It was the girl who looked just like she did. She looked at the list of performers and knew immediately which one the girl was. Quinn Fabray. Quinn; the name Rachel had called her the first time they had met at that diner with Scarlet.
So naturally Charlotte googled Quinn Fabray. And she was shocked at what she found. Quinn had been the head Cheerleader at McKinley, in the same year as Rachel and Santana. She had been pregnant and given up her daughter for adoption. She had disappeared before she graduated.
On instinct she picked up her cell phone and dialed a number.
"Hello?" the groggy voice on the other end of the line said.
"Hey, it's me," Charlotte said. "I can't believe what I'm looking at."
