Chapter 10
It has been a few moons since me and Lavi have returned to our clan... just let me say one thing... Bookman was not pleased with Lavi at all... I've been seeing Lavi less and less as the days go by... Even worse, Bookman had been picking on my kits. I guess I'm no longer allowed to call them Lavi's though he doesn't seem to care... the few glimpses I do see of him are when I'm getting food and I try to talk to him... But he just ignores me... So... I return the favor. But it doesn't help that my beautiful kits continue to ask me why their father doesn't pay attention to them. Though... I always act as if he means nothing to me anymore... I still love him with all my heart... My heart just seems to break a little more whenever he ignores my presence. By now my heart has been shattered though I put a mask on for the kit's well being.
I awoke feeling tears streaming down my cheek. I was thinking and dreaming of Lavitalon again... I quickly wiped away my tears and looked at my three bundles... My calico tom Roankit. My sweet female amber calico Amberkit. And my russet female Berrykit. They were curled up in three little balls of fur. Nuzzled against my side. I wiped my tears away with my paws, not wanting my three bundles of joy to see me like this. Then again they were asleep... how could they see me like this?
I sighed softly closing my cyan eyes. If only Lavi was here to comfort me... no. Bad.. I can't think like that. It's his fault that I feel like this... besides... he doesn't love me... I rested my head on my paws, trying to block those thoughts from my mind. I the sound of footsteps approach the den causing my ears to swivel in the direction of the noise. I looked up slightly to see who it was. I was surprised to see Lavitalon creeping as if he didn't want to get caught. I looked up fully.
"What are you doing here?" I asked a bit bitterly.
"I need to talk to you," he whispered.
"There's nothing to talk about." I said, turning my head away.
"C'mon Silk, please?" He pleased desperately. I remained silent, not looking at him. "Silk... you know I love you c'mon let me just explain," he said.
"You have a funny way of showing love." I huffed.
"No, gramps has been forcing me every day to ignore you, he beats me everytime I try to speak or even look at you, he says that you get in the way of my training..." the russet male explained. I didn't reply, but his words had a big impact on me... Was he telling me the truth? "Please understand, I'd never want to hurt you, Silkendream. You and the kits are my whole world..." he said softly. A look of remorse shone in his singular eye.
"You're telling the truth?" I asked softly. He nodded.
"I'm so sorry..." he murmured. "Every day that I was forced to ignore you by panda, it practically killed me... If anything, I focused less on my work and training." I nodded slightly, my heart fluttering. He kissed my cheek tenderly, curling around me, I felt the warmth of his felt press against mine and make me feel safer. I nuzzled against him, happy that he was at my side. "I love you so much..." he purred.
"I love you too Lavi..." I murmured, feeling my broken heart glue itself back together piece by piece until it was completed like a beautiful puzzle. "I missed you..." I whispered.
"I did too..." He said, licking my cheek lovingly. I felt my healed heart flutter in my chest.
"Bookman isn't going to let you stay with me is he?" I asked softly.
"No... probably not..." He sighed. "But for now, we have all the time in the world." I nodded and nuzzled much closer to him, nuzzling my forehead under his chin.
"I wish things could be different..." I murmured.
"I do too..." He murmured. "If only Panda wasn't so flipping strict."
"Ya... that'd be nice..." I sighed. I didn't want him to leave me again... wanted for him to stay with me... be a father to our kits, and a mate to me.
"Is running away still an option?" Lavi asked softly.
"Yes... but will the kits make the trip?" I asked worriedly.
"If we carry them, they should be just fine." The redhead said confidently. I nodded.
"Where will we go? We can't go back to the old den, they'll find us easily there..." I wondered out loud.
"The mountains. They'll never find us there." Lavi said. I nodded. At least our territory was close. I worried about eagles. They could carry any one of us off... especially the kits. They didn't fly at night right? And surely Lavi being successor to Bookman knew how to avoid them right? Of course he did... he wouldn't have suggested the mountains if he didn't. "We should wake up the kits and leave now." He said. I nodded, looking down at our three kits. Gently, I nudged them in attempt of waking them up. They yawned widely, opening their eyes slowly.
"Kit's wake up, we're leaving," I purred. They looked up at me in confusion. "We're going to find a new home," I explained licking their heads gently. "It'll be like an adventure," I motivated.
"A big adventure?" Roankit asked excitedly.
"A very big adventure." Lavi grinned. They all looked up at Lavi in surprise, who could blame them though? They had rarely even seen him in a long time. "And I'm coming too. So we're gonna spend lots of time together." He purred.
"Yay!" They cheered happily in unison. Lavi chuckled softly, licking their heads. They all of a sudden got a boost that a twoleg would get from coffee. I felt myself stand up quietly.
"Now little ones, we have to be quiet because this is a secret adventure and we can't get caught," I purred to them. They all nodded happily, standing quietly. "And you have to stay very close to Mommy and Daddy," I added softly.
"Okay." They whispered softly. I looked at Lavi and nuzzled my cheek against his with a smile. He purred softly, licking my forehead. I was so happy to be with him... He lead the way out of the den silently, I crept to his side, out kits underneath us, careful to stay close. We made it out of the camp with no problem, moving deeper and deeper into the forest. I saw the mountains realizing they weren't that far away. I treaded carefully making sure not to step on the kits or anything that might alert predators that we were here.
"This trip won't take too long." Lavi whispered, looking up at the mountains.
"Good." I breathed in relief.
"Hey, do you three wanna ride?" Lavi asked the kits. They nodded enthusiastically.
"Yes please!" They said excitedly. Lavi laughed lightly at their enthusiasm. He lowered himself enough so that the small kits could climb on. They crawled onto his back.
"Now hold on tightly little ones," Lavi purred. I felt myself smile. Bookman wasn't going to bother us... Now he could be my mate and a father as well... I purred nuzzling my muzzle against Lavi's warm neck. He licked my cheek as we started walking. As we walked, we started growing closer and closer to the mountains. After a while, the kits fell asleep on Lavi's back. I felt myself chuckle at our three bundles. I looked around at the surroundings. Silverpelt glistened brightly above us. Lavi walked beside me, looking around at the trees. His eye was glowing the whole time. I could tell he was looking for something.
"What are you looking for?" I asked.
"Just anything that may be danger." He replied. I nodded, kissing his cheek gently. He smiled slightly, continuing to look around.
"We should probably look for somewhere to rest, it's almost sun up," I said as I looked at the milky opalescence of Silverpelt fading away as the sun rose. Lavi nodded in agreement.
"There's a place that could work as a den not too far away." he said.
"Okay, lead the way hot shot," I purred feeling my tail intertwined with his own. He purred, leading the way. I felt joy overwhelm me... I had my Lavi back, and Bookman couldn't do a thing about it. We eventually came the place Lavi had been talking about. He crept inside making sure it was safe before letting me in, I gently picked up the kits one by one and nestled them into my side, curling around them to keep them warm. Lavi lay on the other side of me, curling around me as well. I purred my back fitting perfectly on the curve of his stomach.
"Night Beautiful." He purred.
"Good night handsome." I murmured.
...
I awoke the next morning, enveloped in warmth. Lavi was still curled around me and my kits pressed up against me. I felt myself yawn a bit with a purr. Listening to the serene nature around me. Birds sang and the sun shone into the den. My kits stirred a bit, yawning widely. I purred softly, bringing them closer to my side. Lavi opened his eyes, yawning.
"Morning." He purred, licking my cheek.
"G'morning..." I muttered softly, returning the favor and kissing his cheek, I felt his soft fur against my tongue. Lavi stood, shaking himself.
"I'm gonna go get some prey. Be back in a flash." He said. I nodded and kissed his cheek gently.
"Be careful," I said softly.
"I will." He smiled, trotting out of the den. I watched him exit the den, hoping he'd be safe. Then I looked at my awakening kits and licked the tops of their heads.
"Mom... not right now..." Berrykit complained.
"Yes now. Up." I said in a gentle yet stern tone. They all groaned and woke up reluctantly, yawning widely. Amberkit looked around curiously.
"Hey mommy, where'd daddy go?" She asked.
"Daddy's hunting." I purred softly, picking up Berrykit and continuing to clean her before moving onto Amberkit. They fidgeted and complained, trying to get away. But I held them in place, grooming my two girls before moving onto my boy. He complained even more, whining loudly. "Hush now," I scolded gently, nipping his scruff as a warning. He pouted, becoming still. I continued to groom him until his fur was clean and fluffy like his sister's fur. Lavi came back a moment later, carrying a large squirrel. He walked over and dropped it in front of me.
"There were some really good animals out there." He said proudly. "look at the size of this thing." He looked at the three kits. "Morning," He purred. "Sleep well?" They nodded with a grin.
"That is quite large. Takes talent to bring a squirrel like this down." I praised my mate with a purr.
"Why thank you." He purred, pleased with himself. "Now then, let's dig in shall we?" I nodded, licking my lips and waiting for Lavi to start before I dug in as well. He took a bite of the squirrel, licking his lips. I took three clumps of meat from the squirrel and placed them in front of the kits, they couldn't bite through flesh and fur yet. They dug in happily, eating their food quite quickly. Though they still did need milk of course, being kits. I didn't need to give it to them every day, some days they wanted milk, others meat. So it was an improvement.
Once everyone was done eating, Lavi allowed the kits to crawl back onto his back and we began our journey again. I pressed my flank against his with a purr as we walked. I had missed him so much and I was hoping I made that clear. I hoped life would indeed be better when we reached the mountains. We'd be free... no Bookman to keep us apart. As if reading my thought, Lavi then said,
"When we reach the mountains. We'll be free... we'll always be together..." Lavi purred.
"I know..." I whispered.
"Bookman is just a stupid old panda... thinking he can control how I feel..." He growled softly.
"Well, we don't have to worry around him anymore." I said, nuzzling against him. "At least i hope we don't have to worry about him..." I muttered softly. Lavi sighed softly, thinking.
"The mountains are the safest place right now..." He said softly.
"I know it is," i murmured brushing my cheek against his. He smiled, licking my cheek.
"Hey daddy, what kinds of things are there on mountains?" Amberkit asked.
"Well, there's lots of birds and large creature like things called billy goats that climb mountains easily," Lavi said with a chuckle.
"Wow." The kits said in unison.
"Hey, daddy. Do you know any stories? I'm bored." Berrykit yawned.
"I know lots of them," he purred.
"Can you tell us one?" Berrykit asked.
"Of course," He said, then picking out a story and telling them it. This was the story of the Battle of Blood clan. About how the four original clans joined together to form Lionclan against the malicious Tigerclan. All fighting for the rights of the forest. How so much blood was shed and how bravely the warriors fought.
"Wow! You're really good at telling stories." Amberkit giggled.
"Can you tell us more?" Lavi nodded with a grin, glad to be able to share as many stories as he had, and being able to bond with our precious kits.
"Do you have any scary stories?" Roankit asked excitedly.
"Sure I do." Lavi laughed. "Which one you wanna hear?" He asked, grinning.
"The Badger war!" Roankit said with a grin. Lavi's grin widened.
"Alright then. Badger war it is!" He began to tell the story, I listened intently, I have heard this story before, but never from Lavi, and he just made the stories always come alive... He added emotion and descriptions I'd never heard before. It was almost as if he'd been there. When I listened to his stories, it felt like… I was there, observing the whole situation... The kits were uncharacteristically quiet, listening intently to Lavi. I felt myself smile slightly. Lavi finished the story with great enthusiasm. "How'd you like my story?" Lavi grinned.
"That was awesome!" They said in unison. I felt myself purr as Lavi rubbed his cheek against mine, our tails intertwining. He licked my cheek, purring.
"Lavi." The angry voice of Bookman interrupted our happy moment. The kits immediately climbed off of Lavi and hid behind us, they were very afraid of Bookman seeing as he would pick on them. Lavi flinched visibly at the voice, turning to Bookman with a glare. I turned around to stand beside my mate.
"The hell do you want now?" Lavi snapped at the old Panda colored tom. "Haven't you tortured me enough for 50 lifetimes?" he growled.
"You idiot, you're a successor to be a Bookman, you can't be doing whatever the hell you call this." The old Panda snapped.
"And what if I don't want to be the successor to you anymore? What then?" Lavi snapped.
"You've been training ever since you were six moons, you wanted to be the successor, and you can't back down from it, you already know too much," he replied.
"Just fuck off already would you?!" Lavi shouted.
"No, I cannot, your place is as Bookman, not a warrior." He said.
"I don't care. I'm staying here." Lavi hissed. "I'm staying with my mate and kits." He said stubbornly. I stood beside him, standing my own ground. I was ready for a fight if thats what it came to. Bookman's eyes narrowed.
"You're coming home." He said.
"No I'm not." Lavi snarled. "This is my home now." He added.
"What home would that be? What is there that she can offer you?" Bookman asked with a snarl.
"None of your business!" Lavi cried.
"You're coming home whether you like it or not." Bookman said before grabbing Lavi by the scruff. The crimson cat fought against Bookman, clawing at him. Bookman raked Lavi's side with his claws making him cry out in pain. I growled at him and raked my claws against the Panda's face. He hissed in pain, letting go of Lavi. I bared my teeth with a hiss, I didn't care that what I just did was against the code. That bitch tried to take away my mate! Lavi stood and faced Bookman as well.
"You cannot control how I feel Bookman. I love her and our kits with all my heart. You cannot change that." Lavi said firmly. "You'll never take me away from her again! I won't let you! So goodbye. And good riddance." Lavi said, nudging me gently to tell me to go. I nodded and gently nudged the kits forwards to our destination, they started walking under us, as me and Lavi turned around and headed towards the mountains. Blood leaked from Lavi's side and he stumbled a bit. I gently rasped my tongue over his wounds tenderly, brushing my cheek against his neck. "I'm fine...I'm fine." he whispered.
"But Lavi, your bleeding," I fussed worriedly.
"I'll be fine.. I swear..." He breathed.
"Lemme do something for it," I pleaded. I couldn't bare to see him hurt. Before learning to become a warrior I was learning to be a medicine cat… But then I had seen how disappointed Lavi was that I was going to be a medicine cat, so I switched to becoming a warrior, I still have some of that knowledge of a medicine cat, it's quite useful.
"A-alright. Yeah..." He nodded. I made him sit down before breathing in the air and finding the scent of merrigold. Then I trotted in that direction and nipped a step taking one with some cobwebs, I carried them back over to my mate and chewed the merrigold into a pulp before smearing it on his wounds, then I gently patted some cobwebs on top of the injuries making the cobwebs act like a bandage. He winced slightly, clenching his teeth.
"Now, take it easy big guy," I purred softly, kissing his cheek tenderly. He nodded.
"Yeah. I'll be sure to do that." Lavi breathed. I nodded and purred softly, all of us continuing to walk. The kits rode on my back this time, even though Lavi insisted he could carry them. I however had them go on my back because he might reopen his wounds and I didn't want that. "Hey… Silk, all those years back, why did you decide not to be a medicine cat?" He asked.
"I saw that you were upset about it, so I quit." I said.
"Really? You did it for me?" He asked in surprise.
"Ya," I said with a nod and a smile. Lavi smiled slightly. "I didn't like to see you sad, so I decided to become a warrior instead," I added.
"That's cool. But those are still some pretty good skills to remember." Lavi shrugged. I nodded.
"Ya, I'm glad I learned a bit. But I'm even more happy that I became a warrior." I purred.
"Me too." Lavi purred back. I brushed my cheek against his with a smile. Lavi licked my cheek, purring. I could feel Bookman still staring us down. It was sorta creepy. "What's wrong?" Lavi asked, looking at me.
"I still feel like Bookman's watching us," I said with a shiver.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"I mean, I have the feeling that Bookman is following us." I repeated. Lavi's eye glowed brightly and he looked around. His eye widened slightly when he caught view of Bookman.
"Yep he's following us…" He sighed.
"GO figure…" I muttered.
"We can't have him following us. He'll know where we're going." Lavi murmured. I nodded in agreement.
"But would that matter if he knew? Could he even survive going up that mountain?" I asked.
"I don't know. but it's better not to risk it." He said. I nodded.
"Our old den is close to the mountains, we could go there until he leaves?" I whispered into his ear. He nodded slightly. We headed towards our old den, it was at the base of the mountains so that would be good. We went inside, the kits hopping off my back.
"Mommy, this place smells familiar," Berrykit squeaked as they looked and smelled around the room. The other kits nodded in agreement with Berrykit.
"You three were born here," Lavi said proudly. I chuckled softly and kissed him gently.
"Really?" Amberkit asked in surprise.
"Yes," I said with a warm smile. Those good memories coming back.
"Cool." They said in unison.I heard Lavi yawn beside me, I noticed how it sounded like he was trying to stifle it.
"You tired?" I asked him. He shook his head stubbornly. "Sleep." I said softly. He pouted.
"I don't wanna."
"Sleep, you're tired." I purred. He pouted and sighed, lying down. I licked the top of his head with a loving purr then turned to our kits. "You three are sleeping too." They began whining at once. I purred softly. "Ho on, maybe daddy can tell you a story while I hunt." I purred. They all reluctantly curled up beside Lavi. "Alright, I'll be back in a jiff." I said before kissing them all goodbye and going off to hunt. I trotted into the forest, smelling the air for prey. This forest was lush and prey filled the air.
I licked my lips with a purr and trotted off into the directions of prey, I felt the soft earth squish between my toes, and the warm breeze ruffle my fur. I came across a blue jay searching for worms in the earth. It didn't suspect a thing. With a smirk, I found myself crouch down into a hunters crouch and stalk forwards paying close attention the bird and my surroundings making sure to stay downwind. I moved closer and closer, preparing to pounce on the unsuspecting bird. Then, when it raised its head, I quickly leaped through the brisk air, feeling currents of wind ripple through my fur, with a small thud the bird beneath me collapses and I feel its warm, plump, feathered body beneath my paws. I picked it up in my jaws and walked back to the den. I hoped Lavi and the kits would be happy with my catch. I made sure I wasn't being followed before I crept inside the den and placed the bird in front of Lavi's nose so he could get a good whiff. He lay curled around our kits protectively. They slept in one large ball at the curve of his belly. I smiled gently at the adorable scene, nudging Lavi gently.
"Love, I caught your favorite," I purred. His favorite was blue jays and mice. He sniffed and opened his eyes.
"Oh heck yeah." He purred tiredly. I purred and kissed him gently, curling up beside him and nuzzling my cheek into the crook of his neck. He licked my cheek, nuzzling against me. I purred.
"Have at it," I said, gesturing to the bird. He grinned and bit into the blue jay hungrily. I yawned deciding that I'd eat my share when I woke up. I curled up beside Lavi, nuzzling into his side. I felt my whiskers brush against his warm soft side with a tickle. Lavi purred, licking my head. "Starclan... I'm glad we were able to escape... I had missed you so much..." I murmured.
"I missed you too... more than you'll ever know..." He whispered.
"And when you ignored me... I thought you didn't love me... I though you believed all that before was just... a game or something..." I breathed, remembering how heartbroken I was.
"I'm so sorry. Bookman kept threatening me with beatings... and I was too much of a coward." He murmured.
"It's alright... I'm just happy I was wrong about that... I said softly, kissing his cheek tenderly.
"I could never stop loving you. I promise." He purred.
"I couldn't either..." I murmured with a smile, using my soft delicate paw to gently flick his ear with a sly smirk. He chuckled, nipping my ear gently. I purred, bringing my tongue across his lips. He kissed me, purring. I nuzzled my forehead in between his shoulder blades and my tail around his ankle.
"I love you so much..." He purred.
"I don't think you realize how much I love and need you." I mused. Lavi chuckled in amusement. I yawned curling up closer against his back. A smooth purr rumbling in my throat. Then I closed my cyan eyes and began to drift to sleep, his warmth and scent enveloping me.
...
I awoke to the sound of laughing and giggling. I still didn't want to wake up. It was so much work... and I was much more comfortable just laying here beside Lavi. That's when I noticed that Lavi wasn't next to me. I opened my eyes seeing he was no where in sight.
"Lavi?" I called. The crimson cat stuck his head into the den from outside.
"Yeah?" He asked.
"There you are..." I said with a sigh of relief... he hadn't been taken by bookman... that's good...
"Something wrong?" Lavi said.
"No, Just got worried when I didn't see you, I didn't know if Bookman took you or something..." I said softly.
"Sorry. I was just entertaining the kits while you were asleep." He chuckled.
"Thanks." I said with a grateful smile. It was great that he was making it up to the kits for ignoring them for so long.
"Wanna join us?" He purred.
"Nah, it's fine, bond with the kits, I'm gonna eat," I said with a smile gesturing to the half eaten bluejay.
"Alright then." Lavi grinned. He cried out in shock when Roankit jumped on his back. "Hey! No fair, I was distracted!"
"Well that's to my advantage!" the calico tom replied with a smirk as he nipped his father's scruff. Lavi laughed.
"I'm so getting you back for that!" Lavi grinned, vanishing with Roankit. I chuckled softly and began to eat the remains of the bird. The cold meat bathing my tongue with a pork like flavor. I licked my lips. My empty belly filling with the delights of food. I finished and stood, shaking myself. I still wanted to go back to sleep not having a decent nights rest since we had gotten back to camp. I considered going back to sleep. But instead I stepped outside with a yawn and sat next to the den, wrapping my fluffy tail around my paws.
"Mommy!" Berrykit squealed happily.
"G'morning," I purred rasping my tongue over Berrykit's forehead.
"Morning." She giggled. I felt myself purr, I no longer felt like Bookman was watching us. "Wanna play with us mommy?" Berrykit asked.
"Sure," I said with a chuckle. She giggled and trotted back to Lavi. I smirked slightly following Berrykit. Amberkit and Roankit were on top of Lavi. I growled playfully and batted Lavi's ear gently. He pouted., swatting at my paw. I kissed his cheek in return, then nipping his scruff. He licked my neck, trying to shake off the kits. I purred and gently pinned him to the ground. "Sick em," I mused to the kits who grinned and started nipping and pouncing on their father, whilst I cleaned my fur watching this scene in amusement.
"Ah!" He cried. "I surrender! I surrender! Stahp!" They giggled nipping him a few more times before they got off satisfied with their victory. Lavi panted, shaking himself. I giggled softly with a smirk. "Star clan... that was intense." He breathed, smirking jokingly. I looked at my miniature army.
"That was funny is what that was," I said with a smirk.
"Meh." He pouted.
"Don't you meh me," I said with a teasing purr.
"Meh." He smirked teasingly.
"That's it! I'm gonna get you for that!" I laughed leaping onto him and gently nipping his ear. He laughed, nipping my neck playfully. I purred and bat at his whiskers, ears and paws. He licked my neck, purring softly. I gasped slightly, then nipped the sweet spot on his neck. The kits had seemed to go about their own business and began to play with a ball of moss that they found. Lavi purred loudly, his tail intertwining with my own. I felt a strong purr rumble in my throat as I licked his cheek and continued seducing him the cat way. He let out a soft moan. Then I nuzzled him smiling happily.
"Love ya." Lavi purred, licking my nose.
"I love you too," I purred kissing his ear gently. He smiled, rolling out from under me and standing. I looked up at Lavi the slight breeze ruffling my fur, it was sort of cool like Leaf Fall, but I was thankful for that seeing as it got too hot in summer normally.
"Shall we get going then?" He asked.
"Sure," I said with a smile, brushing my muzzle against his soft warm muzzle. Lavi looked at the kits.
"Hey, we're leaving." He called. They ran over. "Wanna ride again?" Lavi asked. They shook their heads.
"We wanna walk like the warriors from the great journey!" They said in unison with large grins.
"Alrighty then!" Lavi laughed. "Onwards!" I walked beside Lavi with a smile watching our kits walk proudly with heads held high, marching forwards proudly. I laughed lightly at that. They were just so cute, so proud, it was so adorable! I felt warmth and love towards my family spread through my chest, flourishing like a blossom in new leaf. We would be free all together. Free from the rules of the clan. But… Somehow… I knew something terrible was going to happen to the clans… I knew my kits would at least be safe away from the clans... But I still felt like we would see some danger that has to do with the clans, especially the Noah clan. I shook my head to clear it. I couldn't be having second thoughts now. This was for the better. The kits would be safe. I could be with Lavi. Nothing would ever keep us apart. Not now. Not ever. I saw the dwelling of the mountains grow larger in sight, tree's were quite visible, even the leaves and bark markings were visible on the closer parts. It was quite a lovely sight. The mountain towering over us.
"Now, how ever will we find a den up there?" I asked turning to my mate.
"Don't worry, there's plenty of them." Lavi assured me.
"What about eagles?" I asked remembering about the large predatory bird that could snatch any one of us off.
"We'll be fine. There haven't been eagles on this mountains in years." Lavi said.
"You sure? I mean it's not like you've been up there before." I muttered.
"Actually... I have. Back when I was studying with Bookman." Lavi explained.
"Well, didn't know that… I must have been at the moon pool then," I said with a shrug. Lavi shrugged.
"Maybe." We kept on walking in silence, looking at the three kits who were still prancing around proudly. Lavi laughed lightly at them, then sighing softly. "I can't believe I've missed them growing this much…" He muttered. "It's gonna take a lot to make it up to them."
"They adore you Lavi," I murmured softly "it'll be fine."
"I hope you're right." He sighed softly.
"I see it in their eyes, they light up like the stars when they see you," I purred in reassurance. Lavi smiled.
"Alright." He nodded. I purred softly and kissed his cheeks for further reassurance. Lavi nuzzled against me gratefully.
"Hey! Daddy! What's the mountains like?" Roankit asked.
"Hm... let's see... they're really rocky and it gets colder the higher you go." Lavi explained.
"Are there any bugs?" Amberkit asked.
"Lots." Lavi chuckled.
"How much prey is there?" I was the one to ask this.
"Plenty." He grinned.
"Good," I said with a grin. Lavi laughed slightly. I smiled looking at my paws a bit.
"It's really nice up there too... really clean feeling air." Lavi added.
"That'll be nice… And we'll all be alone. Just the five of us…" I murmured. Lavi nodded, smiling.
"Yep. Just the five of us." He said. I smiled at the thought. Little did I know everything would go downhill for the clans and soon after… Us…
