Author's Note: Hello readers, followers, and reviewers. I just wanted to warn you guys that I have something's coming up. I may not be able to update as much. Thanks again for reading my story. Keep reading and I'll keep writing. =)
P.S. The key word is May not, I'll try and update.
Steve
Steve had woken up early and he already got dressed in his suit. He put on the helmet that covered his entire head and ears. He clipped the strap on the bottom. He grabbed his shield and pulled a pistol out of his bag. He strapped it to his hip and he forgot the odd weight it had. He got used to it quickly and he looked over at Natasha, who was just waking up.
"Already up?" she asked sleepily
"Early riser" Steve said slipping his shield over his left forearm
Natasha stood up and took off her shirt and she had nothing on but a black bra. Steve turned around and didn't look. He heard a zipper going up and then she was wearing her suit. He stared at her as she put on her shock gloves. She looked just like the picture in his sketch book back at home, well except her suit is zipped up. He had to look away, he was already lightheaded.
Steve had to shake the emotions off, they had a mission to do and being caught up in his emotions could get them both killed. Natasha was soon ready with two guns strapped to her thighs. She looked at Steve who was staring again.
"What?" she asked frankly
The word seemed to wake Steve up from something "Huh, nothing" Steve said quickly looking away blushing. He looked at the tunnel and he looked at Natasha.
"Let's go" Steve said
Natasha nodded and followed Steve into the tunnel and it was dimly lit. They didn't want Hydra to know that they were coming so no light source. They slowly walked through the tunnel in the dark. Natasha had to admit, that the smell was something else.
"It stinks in here" she said under her breath
"No one has been here since 1945, you'll get used to it"
"I will never get used to a funky smell"
"Well then don't sniff" Steve said
"Ha ha very funny" Natasha said rolling her eyes.
"Well either you stop complaining or you go back"
"When do I ever complain?" Natasha asked getting no answer
"You are not getting rid of me that easily Rogers" Natasha said staying close behind him
Steve kept walking and Natasha followed, the smell was getting better. That would mean an exit is near. They walked on for what seemed like for hours. They passed three dead American skeletons.
"I think we found your funky smell" Steve said
"You've got that right" Natasha said covering her nose.
Steve moved on keeping his eyes off the dead bodies that were still decaying. He had seen enough U.S, soldiers die in the past. He looked behind him to see Natasha staring at the bodies and she didn't follow.
"Natasha?" Steve asked walking back to her
Natasha stared at the decaying bodies, but her face was frozen and she wasn't blinking. Steve had a feeling she was somewhere else at the moment.
Natasha could smell the vile smell of decay and she could smell the smoke from the fire faintly like she had in her dreams. She could here screams and gunfire and she blinked and saw a burned face. Its eyes were blue and scared but the flesh was crisp and black with red seeping out of the edges of the mouth and where the face was contorted in pain.
Steve put his hand on her shoulder and she was back in the dark tunnel and she was staring at the bodies. She swallowed and looked at Steve, who had a look of concern.
"You ok?"
"Yeah" she lied
"Are you sure you are in the right place of mind?"
"Rogers, I'm fine" Natasha said walking away from him and leaving him alone in the dark.
Steve sighed and he followed. He made a note in his mind to watch her back extra closely.
They came to a split in the tunnel and one was dark and another was lit. Steve stopped and Natasha was right behind him.
"Which way?" Natasha asked
"They both lead into the base, but to separate locations." Steve said thinking
"Well where do they lead?"
"The dark one leads to the main office and the light one goes to the armory and hangar."
"So we split up?" Natasha said more confirming than asking.
"You take the offices, I'll get the armory and the hangar" Steve said taking a step toward the lit tunnel.
Natasha moved to the dark tunnel and just before they would lose sight of each other Steve looked at her and grabbed her arm. Natasha turned to face him.
"We find what we're looking for and blow it up, we meet right back here. Copy that?"
Natasha nodded and Steve looked down the dark tunnel, and he glanced at the lit one.
"Natasha stay on the communicator if there is a problem, and I can't get here and if they are chasing you, blow it" Steve said
Natasha was stunned at the order.
"I will not blow up the base with you still in it" She snapped in a whisper
"Natasha, it is too important that this base is destroyed than get captured and then killed while the base survives"
Natasha hated the order, and she looked at him.
"Don't look at me with that face" Steve said
"You make it here, right here" Natasha said firmly pointing at the very place they were standing
"Natasha" Steve said softly
"No, don't tell me that you can't promise me that. You make it right here" Natasha said
Steve looked at her and nodded.
"We are both making it out of here alive" Natasha said walking away down the tunnel and disappearing.
Steve stared at the tunnel and he took in a deep breath and he walked down his tunnel.
Natasha felt a lump in her throat as she walked down the dark tunnel. She sniffed and held back a tear. She kept walking promising herself she would get back, and if Steve wasn't there, she was going to save him. No matter what.
Steve
Steve slowly made his way down the tunnel and he came to a vent. He grabbed it and he pulled softly and the vent came undone. The bolts flew across the floor making a subtle clatter as they settled on the floor. He took the vent and placed it down gently with no sound.
He climbed into the vent and he crawled along. The vent was full of dust and cob webs. He pushed them out of his face as he went. He had to crawl slowly or the vent would buckle and a loud boom would come from the metal shifting. He held his breath as he moved.
Sweat trickled down off his nose and landed with a subtle tap on the vent. He came to an opening the vent was stifling and the opening had a soft cold breeze. He was in the hangar, he could tell by the way the ground looked. He grabbed the vent covering and he pulled it off and shifted it softly in front of him.
He went down head first and he hung by his feet from the vent and there wasn't a soul in sight. Steve reached up and put his hands on the vent and his feet flung down and he hung there silently. He let go and he dropped to the concrete floor and landed softly, not making a noise.
He stayed in a low position and he walked toward the main hallways. He heard two men talking in German and he hid behind a few crates. He could hear them but his German was a little rusty, a lot can happen to words in seventy years. He waited for them to split up and he followed one and choked him out quietly and hid him in the back of a truck.
He had to make sure he had a way to get out that was clear. He went for the other guy who seemed on break and was catching a smoke. Steve walked up behind him and silently took him down and the cigarette hit the ground sending a few burning paper sheets to the floor while smoke rose from it.
Steve stepped on the cigarette and he took it and placed it in the knocked out man's pant pocket. He made sure it was clearly out before doing so, he didn't want the man bursting into flames. He hid him under a truck and he continued to the main hallway.
He entered through a door that was open and he watched every corner for a soldier. He snuck through the hallways and he occasionally had to hide behind a doorway. He made his way to the armory and he pressed a button on his helmet and s feed came up and started to record everything he saw.
Weapons were stacked up and all over the place. Steve pulled out a block of C4 and put it behind the gas barrels. He turned it on and a red light flashed and it made a low beep. Steve moved on and he got recordings of every piece of equipment from a helmet to a boot.
Steve got out of the armory and something caught his eye, a lab. He walked in and he had to quickly hide under a large table. He held his breath as he watched as the man's feet disappeared through the door he had just entered.
Steve slipped out and stood, he looked around accessing the area. There were test tubes and vials. He saw a console in the far corner of the room. He quickly walked over to it and he started to press buttons.
His German was coming back to him. He skipped through a bunch of junk, and then stopped when he saw the file. He clicked on it and in large red lettering was the infamous name. Black Widow. Steve looked around again and he quickly pressed delete on the file. Another name came onto the screen in red lettering. Winter Soldier.
Steve deleted it as well and he found all the files on S.H.I.E.L.D that Hydra still had locked away. He deleted them as well from all their databases. He saw two more files and he clicked on one, it showed the Avenger's Tower. Steve deleted it as well and the last file had his name on it.
Steve opened it and he looked to see pictures of himself, some were from 1944 and somewhere very recent. He froze when he saw one of him and Natasha eating at a restaurant. He paused and stared in shock. Hydra had been keeping their eye on him for years. He skimmed through more photos, luckily nothing else with him and Natasha.
There was a picture of Peggy from an outside shot from the nursing home she was currently living at. There was another when he talked to Peggy months ago. He felt his heart drop, when he saw a picture of Bucky on a metal table with his left arm missing and his face was bloodied. Steve looked away from it and he could feel the cold air, and the scream as Bucky fell down into a white abyss. Steve deleted the file and he attached two C4 charges under the table and he turned them on.
He brought his wrist to his mouth.
"Natasha?" He whispered
"What?"
"I have charges in the armory and in some lab, I'm going to try and go for the fueling area"
"Ok, Steve be careful"
"Copy that" Steve said walking out of the lab and down the hallway.
Natasha
Natasha was in a dark office and there was a large window that was still broken and cold air was flying in and the floor was covered in snow. She understood why her tunnel was dark, she is in part of the base that isn't being used.
Natasha went close to the window and found a desk. Natasha glanced over her shoulder and the sight alarmed her and she turned around gun ready.
The portrait of Red Skull hung on the wall, she sighed and she put the gun away. She rolled her eyes and opened some of the drawers. Natasha didn't find much. There was nothing valuable in it and if it was it's probably missing.
Natasha looked over and she saw a map with cities marked with Hydra symbols. Natasha walked over for a look. Berlin was on it, Skull was crazy enough to bomb Nazi Germany, Hitler whom they served under.
She quickly looked around toward the back of the room where there wasn't any snow. Old papers were everywhere. It seemed that the wind had blown them all over here. Natasha knelt down and grabbed a few and turned them around so she could read them. They were in German, but she knew the language.
It was files on the plan to make the new world order back in 1945. She read on and it showed a picture of the huge bomber that was going to be used to do it.
Her mouth slightly opened she looked at the picture, the bomber was huge. It was the one that Steve had to crash into the Artic. She crumpled up the page and tossed it and read another one.
The next one made her freeze and she dropped the paper. She sat down and crawled away from it backwards. She hit the wall and stopped. The paper had the words Red Room on it. Natasha shuttered and she looked away from the paper. She was back in an old bunker and it was cold.
The noises of girls fighting, Natasha started to tremble when a loud drilling came to her ears. The sound of screaming and then the fire. Burnt wood all around her and the heat from the flames.
She breathed sharply and she felt the pain of the brainwashing. She began to sweat and she was trapped against the wall. She needed a way out, she needed to get out of here. Where was here?
Natasha's mind was racing and her thoughts were jumping from pain to no feeling. She gritted her teeth and she felt a sharp pain in the back of her head. This wasn't real, she had to tell herself.
Even though it all happened and it felt real, it wasn't. She was in a Hydra base, in an old office of Red Skulls. She was with Steve. Steve.
She quickly thought of what Steve told her on the bench. She closed her eyes still trembling, tears were running down her face. Her bottom lip was trembling and she was breathing in sharply as if trying to get away from something.
The warmth of the wind, the brilliant orange light on the water. The feeling of Steve's arms around her.
The warmth of his embrace.
The steady rising and falling of his chest.
The steady soothing heartbeat.
His voice.
She opened her eyes and she was back in the office and she was sitting against the wall. She was still trembling and her heart was still racing. She had a knife in her hand, which she didn't remember grabbing.
She dropped the knife and it clanged against the floor. She took deep breaths and she calmed herself.
Something had to be done about this. She couldn't keep having a reaction to this sort of thing. Just seeing the words made her have an episode. She pulled herself up and her muscles felt stiff.
She picked up the knife she dropped and she put it away and she went back towards the vent that led to the tunnel.
There was nothing but evil in this room, Natasha planted a C4 charge on the papers and she turned it on. She climbed into the vent and she made a left and she came to another dark abandoned room.
Why did she get the dark tunnel?
Steve
Steve felt the man's throat tighten and he could feel his pulse from his neck. Steve increased pressure. The man's arms tried to get his arm away from his neck, but it was no use. Steve had overpowered him and he was already starting to slip.
Steve let his arm fall away from the man's neck when his legs stopped moving. Steve pulled the body into a corner and he left him there peacefully. He was going to have a killer headache when he woke up though.
Steve had made it to the fueling area, and it was just as he hoped it would be. Fuel tanks everywhere and barely no Hydra soldiers in sight.
Steve snuck up to a truck and he peeked around the truck to see three men standing there. Steve quickly looked away and he stayed put.
The men were laughing and apparently cracking jokes. Then an alarm went off.
Oh no what happened? Steve said told himself, he was sure it was nothing. Had Natasha been caught or had he been seen. Then he heard footsteps and it was a lot of footsteps. Steve got down and crawled under the truck lying under the grind. Steve slowly crawled for a better view.
Steve stopped when he saw what seemed to be hundreds maybe two thousand Hydra soldiers forming up in the wide open space. That was just in the fueling area. Steve cursed under his breath. There was a lot more than he thought.
Then a voice came over the intercom and it made Steve cringe.
"We are in the final moments of this world's downfall"
It was Red Skull, Steve knew his voice.
"In these final moments, the world will look at us in fear. The only thing that can save them is their treasured Avengers."
Steve felt his heart drop.
"Let us see what they will do when their precious Avengers lay beneath Hydra's feet, destroyed." Skull said his voice getting more ferocious.
Steve had heard enough, and he started to crawl back towards the end of the truck.
"To their esteemed Captain"
Steve froze and he didn't move.
"The world will fall, and a new one will rise from the ashes. The world will be reborn from Hydra's image. You Captain will be the first to fall. The world will see you and your Avengers beaten and you will be put on display and while the whole world watches."
Steve felt his temper beginning to rise.
"They will see you beg, then I will rip out your heart. Then watch as the light leaves your eyes. A pity you did not join me Captain, and be part of a superior race. If not then you will die in the world's fall and be turned to ashes. While the new one begins."
"Hail Hydra"
"HAIL HYDRA!" all the men yelled and they put both their fists into the air.
Time to leave and blow up this base.
Steve had placed three charges behind the huge fuel holders while Skull was talking. He used the man's speech to blow up his own base. He had kept all the soldiers busy and it gave him the perfect opportunity to place the charges and get out of there. He hoped Natasha hadn't run into any trouble.
Natasha
Natasha had been through six abandoned empty rooms and all she had gone up against was herself. The first time was in the office and another was in the third room. The loud noises of gunfire and the constant screaming of children.
She was back in the tunnel now and she had to get connection to Steve. Her communicator lost the single in the fifth room, she must have been too deep into the mountain. Then her wristed pinged and Steve's voice came through.
"Natasha? Natasha do you hear me?"
Natasha brought it up to her mouth and spoke.
"What's up?"
"Well nothing good, but get back to the meeting of the two tunnels now!"
"You sound like you're in a rush"
"That would because…" Steve said then she heard gunfire from the communicator.
"Steve?" Natasha said
Her heart felt like it was going to stop.
"Steve?" Natasha asked again louder
What happened to him, did he die, was he captured, or was he just not talking.
"Steve?" Natasha asked again noticing her voice was breaking a little.
Natasha held back the urge of tears. Her throat tightened and her heart started to beat faster and her mind started to panic.
"Steve?" Natasha said feeling a tear fall down her cheek.
She didn't know what to do, she knew he would want her to blow up the base. Natasha started to run down the tunnel and then she came to the meeting of the two. She stopped and she looked down the lit tunnel almost expecting Steve to come bellowing down it.
But he never came, and there was no sign that he ever was. Natasha pulled out the detonator that was linked to all the charges. She stared at the red button on the top and her thumb went to it.
She felt more tears running down her face. She closed her eyes and she was about to press the button and follow what Steve said to do. Natasha couldn't do it, no madder how much she tried to press it she just couldn't.
Steve would have wanted her to, but she wanted him to live and if she pressed the button then he would die. Then she would be alone, again. She wanted to tell him so much, she never wanted to tell Clint, or Bruce anything about her past. With Clint, she was ordered by Fury to tell him, Bruce was just spontaneous. Steve, she wanted him to be the one she wanted to tell. He deserved to know, and he never pushed her for the information or any details.
He was one of the few good things in her life and then it all came down to pressing a button. Steve would want the base destroyed.
But what did she want?
Steve
Steve was being fired upon and he had nowhere to go. His communicator was damaged from an explosion. All he could hear from it was static. He needed a way out, but he couldn't find it. In the back of his mind he hoped Natasha made it out and that she was going to blow up the base.
Yet again he broke her promise, and he didn't want to break any promises to her. He was stuck with nowhere to go and there were Hydra soldiers firing.
Steve pulled his shield from his back and slipped it onto his left forearm.
If he was going to die, he wasn't going out without a fight. Steve stepped out of cover and he faced the large group of Hydra soldiers. They all had their guns on him, and then one fired a grenade at him.
Steve brought his shield up and then it hit and sent him flying back across the long hallway and he slid across the floor on his back. They all converged in him and they fired.
Steve recovered fast enough to get his shield up and to here all the loud pangs as the bullets stopped when they came to his shield and fell to the floor. He heard them all reload and that was his chance.
Steve ran at them and jumped into the large crowd, now if they wanted to shoot him, they had to shoot each other as well. Steve smacked one in the face with the shield and sent him flying. He hit another one in the ribs breaking them and the man fell to the floor with a grunt.
Steve dodged a punch and he grabbed the man's arm and he kicked him into a group of others making them fall over. Steve ran at another one and he jumped into the air and did a flip and kicked him on the way down. Steve dodged a knife by leaning back as if trying to limbo. He came back up and he threw his shield at two soldiers and it got stuck in the wall.
Steve tackled one of the soldiers and as he fell he rolled and pushed off with his hands and he shot forward with full force and kicked a guy in the chest. Steve took a hit to the face and he jumped onto the man's shoulders and he put his feet around the man's neck and he used his own momentum and he twisted the man through the air and brought him down.
Steve rolled up and he brought his knee cap up and he smacked it into a man's ribs and he grabbed him by his uniform and threw him. Another hand hit Steve in the ribs and Steve countered with a side kick and then a running flip and he brought his heel down on the man's head.
The soldiers were starting to pile up and one shot at Steve. He grabbed another soldier and used him as a shield. Steve felt one of the bullets graze his ribs and one on his upper arm across his triceps.
He kicked the man at the soldier with the gun and they made contact and he flew back against the wall. Steve found his shield and he jumped on a soldier's shoulders and he leaped into the air and grabbed it on his way down.
The shield blocked a stray bullet and then a kick. Steve caught the man's leg and then brought the edge of the shield down on it and it snapped the man's leg backwards and it was only being held on by muscle and flesh, the bone was dust.
Steve went onto his hands and he balanced up and he kicked two soldiers as they tried to hit him. Steve pushed off his shield which was allowing him to spin on the floor. He went into the air and then he came back down with his shield bearing down onto two men and they smacked into the ground.
Steve was starting to get tired, not because they were wearing him out, there was just so many. Steve caught a bullet to the head. Steve fell to the ground with his ears ringing. The bullet rebounded off his helmet and it hit the wall.
Then what seemed like an ocean of men converged and then aimed their guns at him. Steve looked at them in the eyes and he waited for them to open fire and kill him. Steve heard gunfire, he looked around and he couldn't place it. Six soldiers fell to the ground and then three more were shocked and they shook violently and they fell to the ground. Natasha.
Steve got back up and he kicked one and he grabbed his shield and as the soldiers fumbled around confused of who was shooting. Steve could see Natasha behind his cover and she was firing her two pistols.
Steve couldn't help but smirk and he smacked another one in the chest as he ran forward sending him back into the group of guys. Steve moved toward her and he dove over the cover and he crawled back into the cover.
"Nice of you to show up" Steve said
"Thank me later" Natasha said focused
"We need to leave" Steve said
"Down that way is a vent" she said firing
"Ok go I'll cover you" Steve said
"Who has the guns?"
"Who has an indestructible shield?" Steve countered
"Point taken, you will be right behind me" Natasha said firmly pointing at him.
Steve nodded and then he went out of cover and Natasha ran toward the vent. Steve blocked bullets and then a grenade landed next to his feet. Great.
Steve kicked the grenade and it exploded sending soldiers into pieces and blood covered the walls. Steve moved back with his shield still blocking the bullets.
"Steve c'mon" Natasha yelled and fired giving Steve the chance he needed.
Steve ran towards her and she ran out of ammo for her guns and she dropped them and she was about to be killed. Steve threw the shield in front of her and the bullets were stopped and the shield stuck into the wall blocking Natasha from the gunfire.
Natasha stood stunned as the shield came into her view and was stuck in the wall. She looked over at Steve who was running at her.
Steve slid and he slammed into the wall. Natasha went for the vent.
"You out?" Steve asked
"Yeah, let's go" Natasha said
She climbed into the vent and made her way back to the tunnel. Steve grabbed his shield and put it on his back and followed.
They were both in the tunnel and they were running. They came to the meeting point.
"Do you still have the detonator?" Steve asked
Natasha pulled out the detonator and looked at him.
"Then blow it"
She pressed the button and then the whole base shook as the charges exploded.
"Uh, time to go" Steve said
They both ran down the tunnel towards the exit while the base was being covered in flame and the fire only had one way to go. The tunnel. They ran as the fire started to follow.
Steve looked back then the tunnel started to explode from the sides. Natasha was a little behind him, but not by much.
Then one of the sides exploded near Natasha and a piece of metal went into her leg, and she was thrown to the ground.
Steve turned back and he put his shield up as another side exploded near him making him slam into the side of the tunnel. Natasha was lying on the ground, Steve grabbed her and carried her in his arms and he ran. The fire was getting closer.
Steve ran as fast as he could Natasha was unconscious and she was in his arms as he ran. Steve came close to the exit and then came the stairs that led to the cottage. The fire was right behind them and Steve skipped steps as he ran. He ran out of the tunnel and into the cottage.
With no time he turned around and ran through the door and he quickly turned with his back to the cottage. Rain was falling and his boots sloshed into the earth bringing wet mud up and he kept running. He ran towards the car which was still a distance away and it was on a road.
Then the cottage exploded sending fire and wood into the air and making a huge cloud of smoke. Steve felt the shock wave hit him and it made him stumble, but he was far enough away from it that no damage was done.
He got to the car and he put Natasha on the hood and he opened the back door. He placed his shield on the floor of the car and he went and got Natasha. He laid her down on the back seat and he put his fingers to her throat. Her pulse was still strong. Steve let out a sigh of relief and he got into the car and started it and turned around and drove off.
He headed toward Austria, to his apartment.
Natasha
The sun was coming through the cracked door. It gave a line of gold and it traveled over the floor and onto the bed. Natasha was lying there, her suit was still on, but her left leg was open and her bear leg was showing. There was a bandage on it and she was still asleep.
The ray of light went right above her head. She shifted slightly and her eyes slowly opened.
She was in a place she had never been before. The smell of the room was new as if it was just moved into. The bed was soft and the pillows were big. She opened her eyes all the way; she was in a dark blue room with white accents around the floor. The floor was dark wood, and there was a chair next to her side of the bed.
Natasha looked over and Steve was sitting there asleep. His head was against his hand and he looked horrible. He wasn't wearing his suit anymore, he was in a black shirt and in grey cargo pants. His hair was still messy, and he had smudges of dirt on his arms and face.
"Steve?" Natasha said hoarsely
Steve opened his eyes and he stiffened when he saw Natasha awake. He moved forward and he was on the edge of the chair and he put his hand on her forehead.
"Your fever broke" He said
"How long have I been here?" She asked again her throat was dry
"We are in Austria, my apartment and you have been out for two days"
"Two days?" Natasha said raising her head.
Steve put his hand on her shoulder and she went back down.
"What happened?"
"You were injured, we got out alive, and that's all" Steve said smiling at her
Natasha looked at his blue eyes and she felt like she was melting under his gaze.
"Steve there is something I have to tell you" Natasha said
Steve lost the smile and became serious "What?"
"Um… before we left your apartment in New York I uh…" Natasha was having trouble, but she wanted to get it off her chest.
"What?" Steve asked still serious
"I found your sketches" Natasha said not knowing how he would react
Steve sat back and his eyes were wide.
"You saw my sketches" Steve said softly looking at her with a face she couldn't read.
Natasha didn't know what to say and she nodded slightly.
"You went into my room to find them?"
"No, I didn't know about them" Natasha said nervously
"So you stumbled upon them" Steve said still with a tone of voice and face she couldn't read, it was starting to scare her.
"I went looking for my file" Natasha said softly
"Your file, and why?"
"I wanted to see if you had it"
"So instead of asking me about it, you just went into my room and went through my private things" Steve said sternly
Natasha did not like where this was going, but she fessed up and nodded.
"What were you thinking, that I read it?" Steve asked
"I… just… I" Natasha stammered
"I told you I didn't read it, and you didn't believe me?"
"I…I" Natasha stammered again, she wasn't defending herself very well.
"I told you I wanted to hear it from you, not a piece of paper" Steve said his brow frowning
"I…"
Steve put up a hand.
"So, you didn't trust me?" Steve said
Natasha stayed silent.
"Natasha, I burned your file" Steve said
Natasha's heart dropped, and she felt a pang of guilt.
"But you just couldn't trust me enough to take my word for it, my word"
Natasha didn't know what to say, he burned her file, there was no other way he could find out about her past unless it was straight from her mouth.
Steve stood up and stared at her.
"You have my complete trust, but I guess I don't have yours" Steve said sternly and his eyes were becoming dangerous.
"I'm sorry Steve" Natasha said softly
"Not only did you not ask, but then you went through my private things, and then you find my Sketch book and you look in it. Then you see all the pictures of you in it, right" Steve said
Natasha felt a lump come to her throat, she was going to cry, she stopped the tears and stare at him.
"How could you betray my trust, Natasha you can't trust anyone" Steve said pointing at her
The words stung, and it hurt worse to here it come from Steve.
"You can't even stop yourself from thinking that maybe I should just ask, so that's what you were doing when I went out to clear my head?"
Steve didn't know what he was feeling, a mixture of anger, panic, and frustration. He clenched his teeth and his fist came together. He was going to snap again, like in the gym.
"Steve, I'm truly sorry" Natasha said
"It doesn't matter, you…" Steve couldn't even finish the sentence and he walked away leaving Natasha alone in the room.
Damn it! Natasha thought.
