Disclaimer: I do not own Maximum Ride or the Mortal Instruments. Thank you.
I sighed as we walked along the street; our "protectors" – as Angel had informed us – walked ahead of us keeping to themselves. Iggy uttered the words that the other five of us were dying to say.
"Why are we following on foot?" he asked.
"It's not like we can drive," Alec answered from ahead.
"Did you have another brilliant idea?" Jace asked. "Oh! I know! Why don't we all just fly to Lukes?"
I stiffened and started to laugh warily, as Clary laughed like it was perfectly normal to joke about being able to fly. Then she stopped, second guessing herself.
"You can't actually fly. . . . Can you?" she asked.
Isabelle laughed. "If anyone could fly, it'd be from a rune's ability. But there's no such thing as a rune for flight."
We stopped in front of a little house that doubled as a bookstore. I figured it was where Clary lived when she walked in without bothering to knock.
"Luke?" she called out. "I'm back."
We, the flock, hovered around the entryway, unsure of what to do. Clary welcomed us into the living room as a figure clambered over pile of books lying on the floor.
"Clary!" said the man as he straightened up and brushed himself off. "Who do we have here?"
"Right, uh, this is Angel, Gasman, Nudge, Iggy, Fang, and Max," she replied.
His eyes rested on each of us as she said our names. His expression went from that of a curious host to confusion, recognition, disbelief. All in a matter of a few seconds. He leaned in real close to me. Then, standing straight again, trying to shake his face of all expression but a polite smile, said to me "You look just like him."
AN: Yeah, yeah, It's short. Don't give me none of that in your reviews. "I want longer chapters, blah-blah-blah." Look. I'm basing the length off of the Max books. Don't like it? Why did you read the Max books? Anyway, not really complaining okay? I seriously typed all of this an with a smile. ^_^
More to come soon, okay?
