Chapter 10 The Moment of Truth

Natsume's POV

I could feel a familiar burning feeling inside me. I know that it is rage that has been eating me since I saw Polka's bandaged feet.

Damn them. I think that there is still some rational thinking inside that filthy mind of dirty-bloods, but I guess I was wrong, since they are totally phsyco. Who the heck would break the hostage feet just to make sure they won't escape? I'm sure as hell that no one – I mean in the vampires society – with straight thinking do that to a human, moreover a human girl.

Tch. What am I thinking, I should just focus on the fight.

"Natsume!"

I turn around to see Ruka running straight at me and stop right before he bump head on with me.

"What is it?" I ask in a bored tone while scanning my surrounding just in case there is someone who tried to attack us.

"The Princess! I come to escort her. Hotaru told me that I will be the one who took her while you stay to fight with Tsubasa and the troops. I'll try to get to your castle as fast as I can." Ruka answered, wiping unknown blood from his cheek.

Truthfuly, I wanted to be the one who is escorting my annoying little sister to the castle, because I kind of having trust issue about her safety, even if Ruka is my best friend. It just feels that I'm more sure about that if I am the one who put her back to home.

"Go ahead then. She is under the stairs beside the big old picture." I muttered lowly.

"See you later then, Natsume! Don't get killed!" Ruka shouted before he vanish to where Polka is.

I silenty let out a deep breath, trying to calm down my raging emotion, and force myself to concentrate on what more important right now.

"Yukihara. Can you hear me?"

"Yeah. What now Imai?" I kick away a pillar that is blocking my way, making it fly to the corner of the room and fall with a loud 'BAM'.

"The dirty-bloods master is going to arrive in a few hour. All but a group has been anihilated, and its your duty with your brother and the troops to kill the remaining."

"Is this group is special or something that we need to kill them spesifically?"

"Yes. From what I have gathered, the group is consisted of ten dirty-bloods who are the best in everything in their race, but the ten aren't included with the right hand of this so called master of dirty-bloods. The right hand name is Persona, or he usually be called by Death Fang."

"That make them 11?"

"Yes. You should at least kill half of them before the master arrive, since it will be more difficult to fight with the master there. I don't even know what kind of power the master has, his personal information are really a secret one, I haven't been able to hack them."

"Where is Tsubasa?"

"He will meet you at the big hall, I will guide you there."

"Lead the way then, Imai."

Mikan's POV

"Yukihara-san!"

"Nogi-san! What are you doing here?" I asked in surprise seeing the face of this prince charming which already been dirtied with black blood.

"I came to esscort you back to the castle." He said, scooping me up into his arm without any warning which make me squealed in surprise and he blushed beet red. How cute.

"Ah, I'm sorry, Yukihara-san, I didn't mean for you to be surprise." He look at me while grinning sheepishly.

I smile slightly at him. "It's fine, Nogi-san." I pause for a moment, thinking about a certain crimson eye lad who has didn't show up again. "Where is Natsume?"

"Uh, he is fighting off the remaining of dirty-bloods." Ruka answered. "You don't have to worry, Yukihara-san. He is strong, he is going to be fine. Tsubasa is with him anyway, and the troops too."

Without me realizing, I let out a breath that I have been holding since Nogi-san said about Natsume and fighting. Well, that relief me a bit hearing that they fight together, not alone.

Ruka slowly take me to an open clearing, he walk using a normal pace, not even once my surrounding turn into a blurry one.

I look around in curiousity, and found that the once magnificent and scary castle has turn into a pitiful rubble which scattered everywhere. Only a few pillars stay on their place, but even if they are still standing, they show many dangerous cracks that I'm sure going to make the pillars fall flat to the ground in a few hours.

"Did you all blow the palace up?" I asked, looking at his clear blue eyes.

"Ah, yeah. Me and your eldest brother did it. It make the anihilating of the dirty-bloods easier, Yukihara-san."

"Hotaru's idea?"

Ruka nodded, smiling softly at the mention of his fiancee. "Actually she is the one who is planning the whole thing and make the plan of rescuing you run smoothly without any failure in it."

My eyes widen in surprise. I didn't know that she would go to that extent just to save me. I really owe her a lot.

"Yukihara-san, please hold on tight, I'm going to run for a bit." Ruka informed me as he stretch his legs a bit, looking like he will do something along with sprint.

I close my eyes and clutch my fingers to the vest of his, makig sure that my grip is strong enough so I won't fall off when he start to run.

"Ready?" He chuckled, seeing my stance.

I ignore him – I prefer being laughed at rather than throw up somewhere just because being carried by a vampire – and nodded, bitting my lower lip out of nervousness.

"Here we go." He said, zooming off in an incredible speed as I could feel the wind playing wildly with my hair.

Ruka continue to run and run. I don't know how long I have been in his arms. I wanted this to end so badly as I could feel my stomach started to feel sick.

Suddenly, without any warning, as I thought about asking him to let me rest for a moment before continuing the journey, he stop abruptly – well it's actually more like he hit something and tried to protect me by turning around so the thing, or whatever it is, hit his back really hard that I clearly hear a crack somewhere along his spine, instead of hitting directly to me.

Although I didn't get the hit, I get to be thrown out from Ruka's arms, and before I could take in the situation, my head feels like exploding because it ram on something hard and my hurting feet slam into something harsh, making it wet with fresh blood.

I couldn't hold my scream in pain as I hold my head which is pounding like crazy with one of my hand and half grabbing my feet that is hurting like hell with the other.

I blink back slowly, trying to adjust my spinning vision while gritting my teeth trying to bit back another scream full of pain.

"Yukihara-san? Are you okay?"

Slowly, I could make out a worried face of Ruka hovering over me.

I blink once again before finally my vision become clear.

"I'm sorry, there are two dirty-bloods attacking so suddenly that I couldn't evade them." He looks guilty. "I should be more careful. I'm really sorry."

I try to smile at him – I don't know how my smile would look seeing that what I only feel is an immense pain – and nodded, signing that it is okay. Then, without waiting for his response I stretched my neck a little bit, to see two bloodied body with holes on both of their chest.

"I have took care of them. I hope there would be none of these creature again once we take off." Ruka said to me, turning his head to the corpses a little bit, making me see blood dripping furiously from the side of his head

"What happened to your head?" I ask panickedly. I quickly give him a once over and notice that he is bending weirdly and his hand seems like hanging unfunctionally on the side of his body. Ouch.

His lips twisted into a painful smile before he let out a low groan when he tried to adjust his position so he could sit beside me. "I'm okay. My body should fix itself in no time. You should look at yourself before asking about me."

I grimace and look at him sheepishly. "Could you check my feet for me?"

It's not that I am taking advantage of being hurt and alone with this stunning prince charming, because he is my best friend's fiance for goodness sake! I wouldn't dare to make any move with him though he is really handsome and kind. It's just that my head are still spinning and turning that I have some difficulties in doing something like checking wounds.

"Sure." He give me a small smile before bending down – looks like his spine has healed itself, or perhaps all of his broken bones have healed, seeing the way he comfortably move now – and remove the bandage from both of my feet.

I bit back another scream of pain when he try to move one of my feet a little bit.

"This one looks really bad." Ruka pointed to my left foot as his lips thinned into a worry one.

I take a good look – as good as I can with pounding head – and nearly fainted seeing that my suppose to be nearly healed ankle was twisted into a more sick angle then the first time it broke and it is swollen with a wide gash stretched from my toe until a few centimeters above my ankle.

"How about the other?" I squeaked in fright, not wanting to see how my right foot doing.

"Don't worry about it, I think it has healed already." He poke and move my foot a little bit, right and left. Thankfully, I feel totally normal, not feeling any pain. Well there is actually some pain, seeing that my right foot has a few light stratches, but it's nothing compared to the left one.

I remind myself to say another thanks to Hideo-san when I meet him again, because it looks like his potion work, and that help me a lot.

"Can you fix my left foot, Nogi-san?" I mumbled quietly, trying to move my left foot only to feel a blinding pain shooting up.

"Don't move it!" Ruka quickly hold my thigh to stop it from any movement. "I can make it better, but I'm not sure about the broken bones."

"It's fine. Just please do something about it." I beg him, teary eyed as I couldn't hold off the pain any longer. I feel like I could pass out anytime from an immense pain like this.

"I'm sorry and please hold on for a moment." He said, bending down to my left foot.

As quick as the whirl wind he lick off my gash and twisted my ankle so it is back into its original position.

Involuntarily I let out another scream as he put my broken ankle into a right position, big beads of cold sweats running down from my forehead and I am clutching the grass on the ground right now.

"There, it's done." He said, wrapping an emergency cast made from sticks and wide leaves. "The wound should has been healed right now, so you don't need to worry about it."

I nodded, knowing that the pureblood's saliva has an amazing healing power in it – I have mention it before, didn't I?

"Ready to move again?" Ruka stand up swiftly and bend down, ready to swipe me into his arms.

I groan a little before whispering a low yes to him, earning an amuse chuckle from the prince charming.

"I'm going to go a little slower now, so you don't have to worry about the pain. I hope the emergency cast is useful enough to numb your pain a bit."

"Thank you so much, Nogi-san." I muttered, giving him a small smile.

Ruka nodded. "You are very much welcome."

After saying that, he took off into another inhuman run.

Natsume's POV

I put myself on the nearest pillar, trying to calm down my raging breath as I could hear dirty-bloods' blood trickling down my sword.

I have never been this out of breath before in any fight, not even with my father, the king, who is the best swordplayer ever walk on earth.

This fight just has to be different, with unpredictable crazy minds of dirty-bloods and their amazing skill of attacking, – I have to admit they have some cool moves there – I need to use each one of my senses and my mind to control every moves that I take, and I have to think first before I make any attack. Because if I didn't do all of them, I'd be as good as dead now.

Tsubasa who is standing beside me is the same, as he is out of breath and still trying to overcome the fact that the dirty-bloods could fight really well.

We have lose quite an amount of troops just fighting with these 11 dirty-bloods. Sad to say that we lost more vampires than the dirty-bloods did. There are 12 fallen vampires on our side while on their side it's just 7 vampires.

Right now, we are retreating back, trying to regain our energy and rearrange the strategy. It's the same with the other side. I could see that Persona – the vampire who seems to be the leader in the troops – are giving orders with fierce look on his blood red eyes.

Damn. We couldn't afford to lose another vampire when the fight start again.

"What should we do, Natsume? We are losing quite badly here." Tsubasa said in a hushed voice as we know that the other party have the same keen hearing as any other vampires and we couldn't risk that our discussion is being heard by them.

I rake my hand through my hair in a slight frustation. I really didn't have anything in mind. Damn it.

"Why don't we try to attack using the shadow startegy?" One of the troops voice out his thought, wiping away his sweat on his forehead.

I stare at the vampire, in junction with Tsubasa has shock look over his face while looking quite intently at him. He look at us with nervous look, shuffling uncomfortably under our strong gazes.

"Uhm. If it's a bad idea you don't have to use it, Prince Tsubasa, Prince Natsume." The vampire muttered, looking down.

"No, no, it's actually a great idea!" Tsubasa smiled down at his soldier.

The vampire smiled nervously. "That's great then."

"Alright, let's do the shadow strategy." Tsubasa whispered, giving all of the royal troops a thumb up.

I jump forward, warning the enemies to get ready as I lit a big fireball and throw it to the nearby chandelier which make shadows nearly everywhere, and that would be Tsubasa's advantage.

Three of the dirty-bloods attack me while Persona stays on the corner of the room, observing.

I fend off one easily with my sword, while the others were taken care by the troops.I was ready to lit him in fire when he dodge it, leaving the nearby wall dancing in fire. I gritted my teeth and start to attack again.

Left. Right. Up. Down. Clash. Swipe. Cut.

Blood dripping from his right shoulder while I got another bruise on my waist, a result from his kick ass elbow attack.

"Darn you." The dirty-blood growled and jump high with fangs bared and claws ready.

I swiftly sidestep him and swing my sword to the side, effectively stabbing him deep on the stomach.

He fall while coughing blood and cursing me, but I didn't wait any longer as he doesn't move anymore – courtesy of that shadow freak. I drag his heart out, hearing his scream in pain and watching him struggle vainly to evade my sword.

After successfully drag it out, I burn the heart until it become unuseful ashes, leaving the dead body on the floor.

I look around and found that the rest of the troops have anihilated the remaining of dirty-bloods without any fallen vampires on our side, leaving only one dirty-blood to kill, namely Persona.

"I would say that you are strong, Prince Natsume." Persona said, his voice is slick and disgusting.

I give him a glare. "Shut up. I just gonna ask this once, will you surender nicely or we have to force you?"

Persona let out a dark chuckle. "How amusing for you to say something like that."

I gritted my teeth in anger. How dare he laugh at me?! "I said shut up! Didn't you hear?"

"Tsk. Tsk. You should watch your language, your highness, it's not good for someone with a high status like you saying something as rude as that." He said with a wicked smile on his lips. Surely, his voice sounded like he is mocking me.

I am ready to deliver a deadly punch to his face when Tsubasa stop me and ask me to step aside.

"What the heck Tsubasa?" I hiss furiously at him, my hands clenched at both of my sides.

Tsubasa shake his head. "Calm down, Natsume. Rage would only make you irrational."

I want to strangle him so much for preventing me giving Persona a piece of my mind, but I step aside anyway, letting him taking control.

"What are you going to do now, Persona? You have no where to run." Tsubasa taunted. There is a small grin decorating his lips but his eyes have this serious look.

Persona smirk. "Oh, I have, Prince Tsubasa. I would never fight with no plan B."

"Entertain me then." Tsubasa challenged him.

"You see, the master has come back a few minutes ago, and he would like to annouce his arrival to all of you." Persona replied, flicking his fingers.

As soon as Persona did that, some smoke covered a part of the east wall – I roll my eyes on this, what an annoying entrance – and after a few seconds, it dispersed, revealing a man with smooth raven hair and piercing dark green orbs, standing there with proud poise and a smug smirk. This man is strong, I know that much because I could literally feel the power radiated from him.

"Welcome back, Your Highness." Persona bow down at him. "Death Fang at your service."

The man nodded and told him to stand up by flicking his hand.

"These are our lovely guests, master-sama. Prince Tsubasa and Prince Natsume with their Royal Troops." Persona introduce us with a sneer evident on his face.

Damn him.

"I see. They have invited themselves to the castle?" The master finally talk, his voice deep and dark.

"Yes, absolutely. They have taken your bride to be too." Persona elaborate, his voice gone softer at the mention of 'bride'.

A flash of anger could be seen on his green eyes before it vanish, leaving a blank look. "That doesn't really matter as I could see I have finally see something I have wanted to see for so long." The master replied, his eyes are scrutinizing us, especially me. I could feel his penetrating gaze lingering on me far longer than he look on the others.

"And that would be?" Tsubasa cut in, arching one of his eyebrows.

A smirk playing on the man's lips as his eyes boring into mine. "Natsume, my longlost and only son."

What the heck?!
