Thanks as always for the reviews and story alerts. I don't think I've mentioned that this story is AU RF won't happen in this timeline. I'll change the notes in the first chapter. :)

Title: Unexpected
author: Cindy Ryan
pairings: Molly/Greg

One would think that two professional people would have limited problems receiving time off. However, much to Molly's frustration it took another two and a half weeks to coordinate schedules. Because of this Molly had decided against making this trip a surprise for Greg. Scheduling and reservations were giving her enough of a headache. Molly didn't want to add deceiving a detective on top of it.

In the end everything worked out. She and Greg got a four day weekend. By then it was early summer and the weather was finally turning nice. The bed and breakfast had been a recommendation from Mrs. Hudson. She and John and come round to check on Molly a week after her release from the hospital. She'd still had a few days off before returning to work so it'd been nice to see them.

Molly did notice Sherlock's absence and John and Mrs. Hudson were careful not to mention the consulting detective unless necessary. Molly knew she was better off without his friendship but it still had hurt that he hadn't troubled himself to look in on her or inquire of her well being. Which seemed cold to Molly since she'd learned from Greg that Sherlock and John had come as soon as they could in response to Greg's call for help. To go from that to nothing…..but then Sherlock was Sherlock. Shaking off the dark thoughts Molly continued about her day. It was her last day at work tomorrow they'd be leaving for the coast and there was a ton of things to do.

As soon as Molly stepped from the cab and into the late morning sun she felt the stress melt away. The train ride had been a nice change and the scenery beautiful. The bed and breakfast was everything the pictures had descriptions had said it was. The village was quaint and picturesque with cobblestone streets, small shops and cafes. There was a marina tucked away in the cove that promised a day of sailing ahead. The bed and breakfast was a painted a pale lavender and was two stories. Two wooden swings bookended the front porch and potted plants lined the front end. The small entryway courtyard held a medium sized fountain to the right that was in the shape of a flower basket with more flowers planted around it.

"It's lovely!"Molly exclaimed breathlessly as the cab driver set their luggage on the sidewalk next to them.

Greg slipped an arm around Molly's waist having already paid the driver. "It is nice."

Happily Molly picked up her small suitcase while Greg took the larger two bags. They went up the stairs and entered the inn. Molly could only hope the rest of the trip was as promising as the beginning.

While checking in Molly learned there was a walking tour of the village gardens available and one would be leaving in an hour. She signed them up and they went to their room on the second floor. The room over looked a small but well kept back yard. Several flower beds lined the green lawn and were in full bloom. After they unpacked Molly suddenly found herself in Greg's arms. He gave Molly a kiss that left her breathless.

"Wow."Molly stated with a smile as she linked her arms around Greg's neck. "I think this is going to be a nice weekend."

Greg rested his forehead against Molly's briefly. "Yes,I think it is too. What we both needed."

Stepping back Molly kept their left hands entwined. "Come on, let's go downstairs and sit on the porch and wait for the tour."

They left the room and Molly couldn't remember a time when she felt happier.
