I'm going to try to give weekly updates on this story, I think it deserves to be completed, eh? And not forgotten like I have a tendency of doing. What do you guys think of adding a little more DxE fluff? ;)

Even after the two forms clad in unusual jumpsuits who hunt ghosts for a living had long since disappeared, my fingers still found themselves wound around Danny's rather slim wrist. It amazed me how his human form resembled his ghost form so, yet differed so greatly at the same time. Being this close to the halfa gave me, for the first time, the chance to realize that. His facial features were easily recognizable in both forms, the major difference there was his piercing blue eyes rather than the glowing green ones, and his ruffled onyx hair compared to the pure white of his ghost half. As far as his body goes, his human form appeared scrawny, as if you could break him by touching him the wrong way. But, his bulk could easily just be hidden away beneath his baggy clothing. Maybe that was the point? His ghost half always had an air of confidence in the way he held himself, and was slim and lithe. He appeared to be an excellent fighter, and he was. I knew that firsthand.

It was actually rather shocking no one ever noticed the resemblance between his alter ego's.

It was also an interesting concept how differently his alter ego's were treated and regarded as. Phantom was idolized by many, as well as feared and even hated by some, but for the most part respected. Fenton on the other hand was bullied by fellow students and struggled just to keep up with his studies, which didn't earn him any brownie points with his teachers.

I noticed him watching me out of the corner of my eye. Instantly, I could feel my cheeks heat up. Cocking my head away from him in fear of him noticing, not only because of the inevitable humiliation, but because of the ectoplasm that ran through my veins that would turn my cheeks a ghostly green rather than pink. If Danny were to notice that... with a shudder I pushed those thoughts away. I wouldn't be able to fight him now that I've grown so fond of the boy.

I could still catch a glimpse of Danny from my peripheral vision even when my face was turned just enough to be, for the most part, concealed from his prying eyes. He seemed to be studying my hand with a certain scrutiny. A wave of self consciousness spread through every last bit of her being. The things she would do to be able to read that boys mind.

Being this close to the Halfa was rather nerveracking. The only thing preventing his ghost sense from detecting me was a thin little piece of metal hanging from my wrist. Who knew how reliable the tiny little thing was, after all it was the invention of the crackpot himself, Vlad.

Vlad. I knew that at some point he would be making some sort of appearance. Although, I could not fathom why he was intent on getting his little device back. I doubted it had any real importance to him, unless he was just curious about my sudden interest in Danny.

After my short time with the man I had gathered that he had severe issues with obsession. Whether it be pinning over his ex-collage buddies wife for over twenty years, or forming some sort of odd attachment to her son, Daniel Fenton.

A couple months ago I would have hated the thought of being this close to Danny Phantom. My greatest enemy. The one who despises me as much as I despised him. Only my hatred was a past tense. Come to think of it, I don't even know what spurred the change of heart.

Whatever it was, I didn't know.

"Do you even know where you're going?" A slightly amused voice cut through my train of thought. My steps faltered slightly, and for the first time in several minutes I turned my head to look at him. "Not really," I admitted with a shrug.

His seemingly innocent, clear blue eyes wandered down to where my hand was still clutching onto his, an air of curiosity clearly evident in his gaze. I immediately pulled my hand away and let it hang loosely at my side, my previous embarrassment coming back. "It isn't too far," he explained taking the lead, lightly rubbing his wrist. The behavior stuck out as odd to me, but the reason why he was so wary of my very touch was puzzling.

Once we had finally approached the double doors to The Nasty Burger, I eyed the place skeptically. What an appetizing name I thought with a skeptical sigh. Danny stepped aside, splaying his arm across the door leaving it wide open, "Ladies first," he said, "And the food's better than the name suggests" he added with a chuckle. Such an easy going sound it was.

I gave him a curt nod before stepping inside. The atmosphere of the little eatery was promising enough. It appeared to be the popular hangout among the teenagers. Under closer inspection, the only real adults were behind the counter. Interesting. Maybe it was the name that deterred adult customers.

I reached into my back pocket and fished out a frilly little wallet. I crinkled my nose at the sight of it. I had swiped it from that girl Paulina's locker on my first day. She didn't seem like the type to miss a couple of bucks, but she might be upset at the loss of the pitiful wallet. I unzipped it, and dug my fingers into the little side pocket and just as my fingertips brushed against the dollar bills, Danny placed his hand atop mine. "Save your money, I'm buying."

"No, I don't mind paying for myself" I argued. There was some truth to my words. The money wasn't even mine. I had no problem using it to buy myself something to eat. Besides, why waste danny's money on something I don't even particularly need?

"Nonsense," he said with a tone of finality. I gave him a slight pout in response. He only rolled his soft blue eyes in response. "Now, pick anything off the menu you want. Don't worry about prices." He pointed his thumb back towards the counter where the menu was located on the wall just above it. My eyes scanned the list, but I was soon interrupted when a pair of hands grabbed my wallet right from my fingertips. Danny held my wallet just out of my reach, holding it right above his head as far as his hand could reach. I crossed my arms over my chest, giving him my most intimidating glare. He only laughed in mockery at my feeble attempt.

I lifted my leg, angling my foot for Danny's shin. "Give it back," I narrowed my eyes. "This is robbery."

"Are you forgetting the part where I offered to use my own money?" He took my wallet and shoved it inside of his back pocket. He extended his right hand and wound his slim fingers around my hand that I had subconsciously closed into a fist. His fingers pried my own a part, and with his free hand he placed a fresh, crisp Twenty dollar bill. Upon the contact between his skin on mine, that same puzzled looks settling on his features.

My lower lip extended outward into a slight pout, before my fingers curled around the bill, crumpling it up. You've won this round, ghost boy.

Promptly turning on my heels, I made my way over to the counter to wait in line. A couple stood in front of me with their hands encircling around each other's waists with their fingers pushed into the others pockets. The couple cooed at each other as if they were the only two people in the room, and I turned my face away forcing down the bile that arose in my throat. Were all humans like this?

"Order me whatever sounds good," Danny called as he sat at a small booth. I nodded in his direction to signal that I had heard him. Glancing up at the menu, I let out a long sigh. None of it sounded good.

The couple had since gotten up to the counter, ordered there food and now where no where in sight. Leaving me next in line. The middle aged man behind the counter watched me expectantly, "Next in line, please."

I stepped forward, ready to rattle off the first thing that bought my eye on the menu and just hope for the best.

After placing my order the man prodded at his register. He glanced up, "That'll be fifteen bucks." I held out the twenty dollar bill Danny had given me, he took the bill and shoved it carelessly inside the drawer of his register.

A younger girl with red hair tied back into a pony tail, braces and glasses with wire frames dropped off a small bag on the counter and offered me a warm smile before heading back inside the kitchen. The cashier pushed the bag closer so that it was now within my reach. He extended his hand, "your change." I held out my hand as he dropped a couple extra bills and coins. His fingers ever so slightly brushed against mine and he instantly recoiled as if he had been burned.

"You're hands are like ice" he said in bewilderment, rubbing his palms together.

That was the one thing that I had overlooked before enrolling in Casper High as a student. I was dead so my body had no blood running in my veins to keep my body heated. I quickly grabbed my bag and stalked off without another word. Was that possibly what had been causing Danny such confusion whenever we touched? I pulled my sleeves over my hands, willing them to warm up.

I stood off to the side and shut my eyes tightly. I had been keeping my fiery core at bay these last few days, maybe if I tapped into that energy, maybe my skin wouldn't be so deathly cold. As soon as I felt my hair crackling to life I immediately diminished my fiery core.

Keeping my core more balanced was going to prove to be challenging. Great.

...

I held the bag tightly at my side, inhaling a deep breath more for the soothing effect of the motion rather than actually needing the oxygen. Entering the dinning area of the Nasty Burger, my eyes scanned the faces seated at every booth I passed by until I was met by those familiar crystal blue eyes.

I slid into the plush bench just across from Danny, dropping the bag in front of him. He eyed the bag with interest and unraveled the opening. He withdrew the two double cheeseburger's and fries. I waited patiently for a reaction unsure if the foot was suitable.

"For a second I was worried you'd order something plant based like my friend Sam."

"The skinny goth girl?" I asked. "She's a vegetarian I assume."

"Ultra-recyclo vegetarian," He corrected.

"Thats a thing?"

"Apparently so. Listen, Marcy? Sorry about earlier. My parents...the ghost."

"Don't worry about it. I at least got to witness the infamous Phantom kid everyone keeps raving about."

Danny sat back silently studying me for a moment, "You were even in his arms. A lot of girls would kill to have been in your position." His voice took on an edge of pride in it.

"Like Paulina?" I mused.

"Paulina?"

"Oh you don't know?" My voice wavered in a teasing tone.

"Out with it."

"Paulina is in love with Phantom. It's more like a creepy obsession." I picked at my nails in a disinterested manor. "Don't believe me, check out her locker."

Danny's face twisted into one of mischievous interested. I just arched a brow in response. "Jealous?"

He literally snorted. Then seemed to think more deeply into what I had said, most likely realizing that she liked the "wrong" half of him.

"No."

"No?"

"That's what I said."

Danny's phone beeped from his pocket. He lazily leaned his body sideways to fish his phone from his pocket.

He rolled his eyes as he read the message that filled up the screen. My mom needs me home." He pushed himself up from the booth. "Same place, tomorrow?"

"Wouldn't miss it."
