Bart's Troublesome Prank

One day Bart was working with Joey with coal trucks shunting. "Come on, Joey," said Bart, "Otherwise, you're too slow!" "What?!" Joey called out, "Why you cheeky little imp! You tease me!"

"I did!" Bart replied, "Come on, slowpoke!" "All right, all right!" grumbled Joey, "Hold your wheels!" "I would," Bart said slyly, "But I can't!" "Ugh!" groaned Joey, "Troublemaker!" Bart just laughed.

At the end of the day, Bart returned to his shed, next to Gordy, an engine who looks just like him. "That's a good joke, Bart," said Gordy, "What you did to Joey." "Yep," agreed Bart, "I'm a master of pranks and jokes."

"That's funny for us," said Gordy. The two engines fell asleep.

The next day, Bart and Gordy woke up together. "Let's go!" the two engines said together. "Actually," said Gordy, "You go." "Right!" said Bart, "The master of pranks."

First, they saw Blake, getting ready to collect a train of empty wagons. "Time to start my day," said Blake, backing up to the trucks. "Yes, back up," Bart said teasingly, "Back up. Back up." "What?" Blake replied, trying to figure out where the voice is coming from.

However, Blake puffed too far back. Going fast, he hit the truck too hard and it broke apart. "Argh!" cried Blake. "Oops," his driver said. "Back up!" Bart called, "Back up! Ha ha ha ha!" Bart puffed away, laughing.

"Oh, Bart!" cried Blake, "You did this! Now I'll be late!"

Next, Matt was about to pull a passenger train out of the station. "Time to go," said Matt as the guard blew the whiles. "Time to stop!" Bart shouted, "One passenger is not on the train!"

"What?!" Matt called, stopping immediately and giving the coaches a good bump. "What's going on?' asked the driver. "Who's not on board?" asked Matt.

"I thought everyone is on board," said the driver. "They are," the stationmaster called. "Right!" laughed Bart, puffing away. "Oh, Bart!" Matt shouted.

"Go forward," Bart called to Davis. Davis puffed forward. But much too fast. He nearly ran into Carl and Carlos by mistake. Luckily, he stopped in time. "Watch where you're going!" Carl called.

"I know," said Davis, "And Bart!" "Ha ha ha!" called Bart, "You really need to watch where you are going!" "Ugh!" groaned Davis.

Later that day, Blake, Joey, Davis, Matt, Carl and Carlos gathered around at the goods yards. "That Bart is irritating me!" shouted Matt, "Making me bump my coaches and throw my passengers around!" "He nearly made me crash!" said Davis.

"He was irritating me all day yesterday!" said Joey. "I was late with my first train today," said Blake. "We need to teach Bart a lesson!" said Carlos. "We must come up with a plan first," said Carl. The engines pondered.

Meanwhile, Bart was getting ready to play a trick on Jessica and Elliot. Both were getting ready to leave with their goods train. "This is my chance," thought Bart, "I'm going to play my trick on both of them!"

"Wait a minute!" called the driver, but Bart had already started. Simultaneously, both Elliot and Jessica steamed off together. "Oh no!" groaned Bart, "I missed my chance for a prank!"

It didn't matter, though, as the left rail underneath Bart's wheel suddenly broke apart. "Argh!" screamed Bart as he turned over and derailed. The driver and firemen jumped clear as Bart struck the ground really hard.

"Oh dear," Bart groaned, sliding to a stop. He wasn't hurt, but he laid dazed and surprised. "Now look at what just happened, you silly engine!" scolded the driver, "We'll have to call for help!"

Just then, Matt, Joey, Davis, Carl, Carlos and Blake arrived. "Well, well, well," said Davis, "What do we have here?" "A derailed Bart, no less," said Matt, "But no doubt about it. It's the derailed prankster!"

"Could you help me?" asked Bart, meekly. "And why should we?" asked Joey. "Because I'm sorry for playing pranks on you," said Bart sadly, "I'll do anything for you!" "Anything?" repeated Joey and Davis. "Like stop playing tricks on us!"

"All right!" whimpered Bart, "As you say!" "good!" said Matt. "Let's get the cranes," said Carlos. Soon, Bart had been placed back on the rails and he returned home.

"How was your day?" Gordy asked Bart when he got home. "Don't ask," answered Bart. "Bad day, huh?" asked Gordy. "Yes," moaned Bart, "Things are going to change now." "Ok," said Gordy.

The next morning, Matt, Davis and Joey started the new day. "Ah," said Matt, "Today, no pranks." "Right there with you," said Davis. "Today, I will begin a new day," said Joey, "Let's go!"

The three engines set off together.

Nearby, Gordy was preparing to be coupled up to a goods train. "To bad there will be no more pranks," said Gordy sadly. He backed up to his train.

Suddenly, colored powdered exploded out of Gordy's truck. "What?" Gordy burst out, "I'm covered in this?" "You're a different engine!" laughed Bart, "I got you!" "Oh, you did, all right!" agreed Gordy.

Blake and Arnold saw what had happened. "Some things never change," said Blake. "Right there with you," agreed Arnold.
