Hey guys, it's chapter 11! I seriously can't believe it's taken this much time to get me up to this -.- it's honestly sad :/
So I've been really depressed all day for some reason, but writing has cheered me up quite a bit, so I hope y'all are happy with this chapter. Unfortunately for all of us, this is just a filler chapter (but it's still long, I promise, it just doesn't have that many IMPORTANT events happening in it.)It is unfortunate for me because I had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to write for this chapter, simply because I really want the dinner to be next chapter because I'm expecting it to be a long thing. It's unfortunate for you guys because it's not exactly super exciting or anything, I tried really hard to make it at least interesting.
So not a lot of you really reviewed, but that's ok, it's been a busy week for everyone I guess, remain optimistic 'eh?! xD So here's the people who did review:
KyKat, JaceHerondale17, Ishipwessa, xXDustAngelXx, LilyGold23, blue and silver marble unicorn, FangirlHypeXx, Louise (Guest)
Kay, KyKat, much love hun, you rule x3
JaceHerondale17, your review made me giggle, literally giggle, the fact that you used my own words just to tell me how much you liked my story is awesome. And you are very right, I WISH so much that I could be one of those authors that can update every day, but 1. All of my chapters would be about 2,000 words shorter, 2. I couldn't write it in my journal like I love to do, simply because I am such a perfectionist that I have to write everything down in my journal before I can even begin to write it on here v.v
Ishipwessa- first of all, for your user, me too lol, 2nd your shipping powers are amazing.
xXDustAngelXx- gah, you're cool lol, thank you so much for your review!
FangirlHypeXx- ok, so, Clary's mum isn't actually found yet, just gimme time, we're getting to it! Haha
Izzy- Lillyyyyyy
Me- What Izzy?
Izzy- Why aren't you letting my fabulousness sprout?
Me- Because I don't have time v.v
Izzy- Well make time woman! And also tell these people that my amazingness is not from your brains.
Me- Fine :I I don't own anybody in this story except Dylan, and I don't own about half of the plot, but at this point I'm straying more and more from the book :D
So without further stalling, here is this chapter!
Clary POV
It had been a really long week. After Clary and Jace's conversation on Monday, the two of them basically ignored each other unless it was during art or at home. When they did talk though, Clary felt like they could talk for hours. Jace had a way of making her laugh like no other could.
The most disappointing thing was the lack of information she had received about her mother Hodge kept telling her that the police were doing the best they could but Clary didn't have the best of experiences with police and she was having a hard time believing it.
"Clary?" Magnus's voice roused Clary from her thoughts.
"Hmm?" She answered a bit disoriented.
"Were you listening to anything I just said?" Magnus asked with a sigh.
"Um… not really, no." Clary said apologetically.
"It's ok," He said. "anyways, I was saying that I think Alec is quite attractive."
"Ew," Izzy said as she set down her tray at their table. "That's gross Magnus, he's my older brother."
"You make it sound as if I'm saying I'm going to screw him." Magnus said with a laugh. "Though, now that you have me thinking about it…"
"Gross, Magnus!" Izzy shrieked and slapped his arm. She only succeeded in making both him and Clary laugh harder.
"But seriously though… is Alec gay?" Clary asked in a whisper.
"That obvious?" Izzy asked. Clary nodded, a bit relieved that it wasn't just her being a jerk. "Most of our family doesn't know, just me and, obviously, him."
"Doesn't Jace know?" She questioned.
"Honestly you'd think he would, but he's so oblivious sometimes that I doubt he's figured it out yet." She said with a roll of her eyes.
"Yeah, that sounds like him." Clary commented with a nod. Izzy's face changed into a devious grin.
"What?" Clary asked.
"Of course you'd know what sounds like Jace." She said. Magnus's grin widened as well and he giggled like a girl along with Izzy.
"…I'm confused…" Clary said with a puzzled look.
"Ugh! When are y'all just going to admit your undying love for one another?" Izzy asked.
Clary was now blushing, "Neither of us will most likely ever use those words."
"Aww! She's blushing!" Magnus said with a laugh. Clary glared at him venomously, he just laughed more. "But seriously, y'all need to start dating, I've got money on you both." Clary laughed at his comment.
"Good to know you're betting on my love life." She said to him.
"Honey, always, take it as a compliment." He told her with a wink.
"You both would be SO cute together!" Izzy gushed to her.
"So would you and Simon!" Clary shot back embarrassedly. Izzy held her nose up, but Clary could see the light blush that tinted her cheeks.
"Stop trying to change the subject Clary, besides I'm already dating someone." She said.
"Since when and who?" Clary asked not believing her.
"Since today and his name is Melorn." She turned, as if on cue, and waved enthusiastically at a boy. He didn't wave back, just gave a slight nod at her. Clary laughed.
"You guys are dating? Each other?" She laughed more and Magnus grinned.
"Shush, he's just not super lovey dovey! We're totally dating." She said sounding like she was trying to convince herself as well.
"Mhm, well, my lovely friends, I must leave you. If I want to get to my locker and to class on time, I need to get going." Clary said as she stood.
"No! Clary, don't leave me! She'll end up murdering me!" Magnus said.
"Just use your special Maggie powers and you'll be fine."Clary said grinning.
"My Maggie powers are for me and me only, well, and possibly Alec, ME-ROW!" Magnus said making cat paws. Clary giggled.
"EW! Gross, Magnus!" Izzy proceeded to slap Magnus and he chuckled trying to dodge her swings.
"See what I mean?! Save me Clary!" He cried, Clary just walked away laughing.
Jace POV
Jace's lunch was never very fun. The people he sat with were normally less than satisfactory, most of the guys were assholes, and the girls were just sluts trying to get with the assholes.
Now, normally Jace wouldn't mind this. At one time he considered the guys friends, but now they just irritated him. The sluts used to be fun as well; they adored him and did everything to please him at one point that meant low cut shirts and very short shorts. He was still attracted to that, just not on them. He wanted to see Clary wear that stuff, but not out in public, just at home, for him. Now that would be sexy.
Jace sat now at his usual table with Alec to his side. Around the table sat Sebastian, Jonathon, and Raphael. The only girl that sat with them today was Aline. Kaelie wasn't sitting at their table but was sitting at a table a few feet away glaring at Jace. She had been shunned out of the group after Jace had broken up with her. Aline was fluttering her eyelashes at Jace and it made him a bit sick to his stomach. He had tried dating Aline once but it didn't work, she just ended up cheating on him with both genders, and while that was cool that she was bi, he didn't appreciate being cheated on.
"Jacey, why haven't you talked to me all lunch period?" Aline asked with a pout.
"Don't call me that and because I really don't feel like talking to you." Jace answered. Aline pouted more and Jace rolled his eyes.
"Why are you so mean lately?" She asked in a whiny voice.
"Because you're annoying." He said.
"Whoa Jace, be nice, you're losing entourage." Jonathon said chuckling.
Jace scoffed, "I don't need an entourage, I've got all the people I want plus I'm awesome, I don't need people."
"Yeah, whatever Jace." Sebastian said.
"Sebastian, you can't deny my awesomeness." Jace said smirking.
"Oh yes, yes I can." He said chuckling.
Jace chuckled a bit. After a while, this table had become incredibly boring to Jace. He longed to go and sit where Clary sat, he'd probably be more happy there.
But he couldn't do that, at least not yet. Clary would be the one to set him free from this popular cycle that he so hated. They could never truly shun him completely, but if he were dating Clary, he could make himself change how he did things.
He looked up and saw the girl of his thought stand from her seat. She stayed a moment, probably talking, and then she turned shaking her head and laughing. Her smile could always brighten up Jace's mood. Clary walked past Jace and out the door of the cafeteria.
"The new chick is pretty hot." Raphael said thoughtfully with his thick Spanish accent.
"Yeah, I could hit that." Jonathon said swinging his hand to animate.
"Stop it, you're being a douche." Jace said frowning at him.
"What? Oh, you wanna hit that?" He asked wiggling his eyebrows.
"'That' is a she, and what business of yours is it if I do or not?" Jace asked.
"Well, it's inevitable, you're going soft on us. Both your mind, and your dick. Maybe it's cuz you haven't been getting any since you broke up with Kaelie." Sebastian said. Alec, whom had been quiet the whole conversation, laughed at this. Jace glared at the group.
"I don't know why you like her so much, she's not even pretty, plus I heard she's really stupid." Aline said angrily.
"Aline, stop being jealous, you and me are NOT happening again. Clary's not stupid, in fact she's quite intelligent, also Clary is more than 'hot', she's beautiful, and I'm not afraid to admit it." With that Jace stood and, with one glance at his brother, stalked off in the direction of Clary.
Clary POV
Clary arrived at her locker and tugged at the lock before remembering the ritual pounding on the door she had to do. She rapped on the door twice and it swung open. "Gonna take me some time to remember that." She mumbled under her breath.
"Really, wouldn't think it'd be that hard to remember." Jace said. Clary whirled quickly to see Jace's smirking face looking down at her. "Did I scare you?" He asked.
"A bit." She answered truthfully. "Why are you here?"
"I got bored with the people at any table, you're more interesting." He said to her.
"I find that rather hard to believe." Clary replied turning back to her locker. She slid her books out and stuffed them into her bag
"Why?" He asked.
"Because you and your friends are popular and I'm just… not." Clary answered as she tugged at the zipper to her bag trying to shut it. Jace bent and pulled her bag over to him, with careful fingers he shut the bag without trouble.
"Yeah, well, my popular friends are kind of major dicks. Plus, you're cuter. I don't care about status or popularity." Jace said to her. Clary blushed and looked down at her backpack. "So, what's your next class?" Jace asked her.
"Math." Clary replied crinkling her nose. The pair stood from their crouched position, Clary shut the door to her locker.
"Let me walk you there?" Jace said questioningly.
"Sure." Clary said smiling. Jace held out his arm to her in a gentlemanly manner, he was smirking at her. Clary looked at it with surprise for a moment before smiling and sliding her hand into the open hole. They walked for a bit, talking about school. When they arrived at the door of Clary's classroom, Jace raised her hand to his lips and kissed it softly while he looked into her eyes. This made her cheeks burn and she was sure that they were about the color of her hair.
With that Jace left and Clary turned to go into the classroom and attempt to focus on her math work.
LINEBREAK
Clary sat working with Jace up in the greenhouse now. Clary was working intently on her butterfly and Jace on his greenery. After a while Clary finished and she stood walking back a few paces so she could see the butterfly more.
"Nice." Jace said, she managed to refrain from jumping, she didn't notice him coming up behind her.
"Thanks." She said smiling at him, he smiled back. "So, I had an idea on how we could get this all up on the wall with less work on our part."
"Well, let's hear it." He said looking at her expectantly.
"I suggest that we flip over the paper, rub charcoal all over the black, thickly I might add, then we tape the charcoal side to the wall and draw over our drawing." Clary said. Jace nodded, thoughtfully looking from the drawing to the wall.
"So it'll imprint on the wall, good thinking." He looked down at his watch. "We only have 20 minutes left, let's just do it Monday."
"Okay." Clary said smiling at him. Clary and Jace walked over to the wall where they were going to paint the following day and they slid down into a seated position beside one another. Clary pulled a bag of mini Oreos from her bag and opened them to share with Jace. He smiled widely and there was an adorable childish glint in his eyes as he took one of the Oreos, pulled off one of the cookies, licked off all of the cream, and then proceeded to eat each cookie alone. She couldn't help but smile brightly at him and his actions.
"So, Saturday?" Clary asked.
Jace sighed and looked at Clary with a smirk, "I suppose you want me to tell you about what I'm planning for dinner?"
Clary nodded smiling, "Yes, very much so."
"Ugh, fine," He said sounding exasperated, but his face was smiling and kind. "It's not just going to be dinner."
"What, like dinner and a movie? Or what?" Clary asked slightly confused.
"No, like I'm taking you out all day, and maybe a movie after, depending on if you sweeten me up." Jace answered winking.
Clary laughed. "You're such a pig!"
"Whoever said I was implying something dirty, Ms. Dirty-mind."
"Whoever said I was thinking something dirty, you're the dirty minded one Jace, I simply said you were a pig." Clary said smiling widely.
Jace put a finger against his nose and started snorting open-mouthed. "Oink oink!" He said. They both burst into a fit of laughter, Clary leaning against Jace for support and him returning the lean as their eyes filled with mid-laughter tears.
"So where are you taking us for dinner?" Clary asked after they recovered.
"Taki's," Jace said.
"Taki's? What's that?" She asked. Jace's eyes widened and his jaw fell open.
"You don't know Taki's?!"
"Um… no…?" She said timidly.
"Dude, it's seriously the best restaurant ever." Jace said.
"Well, I've never been, what's the food like?" She asked.
"Guess you'll have to find out." Jace said.
Clary huffed, "Well fine, I see how it is." She said to him. Jace laughed smiling at her.
The pair of teenagers joked around for a bit longer before it was the end of the day and they went back to the hotel.
LINEBREAK
After dinner Clary went upstairs to her room and sat on her bed staring at the phone on her bedside table. Being as it was technically a hotel; there were clunky black cord phones in every room. Clary couldn't decide whether or not she wanted to call Simon. Well, scratch that, she wanted to call him; she was just very worried of what he'd say. Would he refuse to pick up? Would he laugh in her face and then hang up? Would he turn down her apology and say he never wanted to see her again? These many thoughts ran through her head and she was horrified that any one of them would happen.
With a determined look she grabbed the phone and tapped in Simon's number. The phone rang a few times before Simon's voice came through the speaker warm and inviting.
"Hello, this is Simon, whom am I speaking to?"
"Hey Simon… It's me…" Clary Said. There was a pause from the other side and Clary was worried he didn't hear her. "Simon?" She asked.
"What do you want?" He said sharply, his voice no longer warm and inviting.
Clary gulped before responding. "Um, I just wanted to talk… I really miss my best friend." She said.
"Clary, I really don't want to talk to you." He said with the same sharp tone as before.
"Why are you mad at me Simon? What did I do wrong? Not love you? Do you want me to say sorry? I'm sorry Simon, I'm sorry that I don't love you like you want me to!" Clary said quickly, barely allowing herself to breathe. Simon attempted to interrupt her once or twice while she was speaking, but she didn't let him, she had to say this and she had to say it now, before she lost her nerve.
"Clary, I don't want an apology." Simon said with a sigh, his voice softer now.
"Then what can I do? What can I say to make you forgive me? Because you are my best friend and if I've lost everything and everybody else in the world, I can't lose you." Clary said, tears burned the back of her eyes and she took a shuddering breath.
Simon paused once more before speaking. "I miss you too Clare, I, crap, I gotta go, let's get together on Sunday for lunch, kay?" He said to her. Clary's heart lightened exponentially and she nodded before realizing that she was on the phone and that he couldn't actually see her nodding.
"Yeah," She said with a sniffle, "Sounds great."
"Are you crying Clary?" Simon sounded alarmed, his overprotective side turning on once again.
"Nah," She said, "you said you gotta go, I'm not going to keep you, bye Simon."
"Bye Clare." She could hear the laughter in his voice and they both hung up the phone after that.
Clary felt immensely relieved, like a big weight had been lifted off her chest.
After a few minutes of staring up at her ceiling, Clary sat up and grabbed her sketchbook.
Clary loved her sketchbook. If you went through Clary's sketchbook you would be able to tell exactly how she was feeling at a certain moment in time. Not that she actually let anyone do that. To Clary a sketchbook was a very sacred and private thing. Where most little girls had diary's with cute little bows and flower stickers that talked about which adorable boy had talked to them that day, Clary had her sketchbook. Her sketchbook was a black hardcover with various band stickers, such as 'Pierce the Veil' 'Panic! At the Disco', 'Fall Out Boy', and 'Sleeping with Sirens'. It was filled with instead of words, drawings that filled each page with emotions, and it's insides contained her deepest darkest feelings and if anyone ever saw it they'd probably freak out and never talk to her again. Simon had seen one or two of the bad pages and he had literally walked away from her for an entire week.
Clary flipped open to the next blank page in her sketchbook and tried to think of something to draw. After a few moments of thought she set her pencil down onto the page and as it had many times before, her hand moved on its own. She didn't have to look at a picture to know how to draw what it was she was drawing, she already had every feature memorized.
After about 30 minutes of work, Clary took her pencil from the page and was able to put together exactly what it was she had been drawing. The drawing was of Jace, but not only was it Jace, it was Jace with large feathered wings sprouting from just behind his shoulders, an image Clary had been seeing quite often within her dreams lately.
As Clary looked upon the chiseled face she had drawn she smiled. It wasn't perfect, though she couldn't figure out why not, but it captured certain things that made her heart flutter as if he were really there looking at her with that cocky smirk of his. In the drawing he wore a leather jacket and his blonde curls were ruffled as if he'd just rolled out of bed. He looked strong and confident in the drawing, as always. She stared at it for a few moments until there was a sharp rap on her bedroom door. She couldn't remember when she'd begun to think of the room as her bedroom, but she realized that that's really what it was.
Clary scrambled to shut her sketchbook before patting down her hair, having no clue why she was doing so, and she called a soft "Come in,"
The door swung open and Jace stood in the doorway, smiling in an almost nervous way. "Hey." He said.
"Hey," She replied, "What's up?"
"Nothing really, I was just kinda bored." He told her.
"Oh…" She trailed off not unkindly.
"I dunno, you just have a way of making me, um, not bored." He chuckled bringing up an arm to rub the back of his neck.
Clary laughed and looked down to hide the blush she was sure was present on her cheeks. "Yeah, you too…" They both looked up at each other and smiled.
"Can…can I sit with you, just for a bit?" Jace asked her.
Clary nodded with a bright smile, "Sure." Jace walked over and sat on the edge of her bed, looking at her almost the entire time.
"So… I'm sorry we haven't heard anything about your mum lately." He said. Clary's mood plummeted.
"Yeah," She looked down into her lap where her hands were tightly knotted together. "Me too. I wish somebody would tell be something! Scratch that, I wish I could just look for her myself!"
Jace's hand snaked over to hers and squeezed it reassuringly. "Well, why don't we?" Clary looked at him incredulously.
"Probably because we could get in a lot of trouble." She answered reasonably.
"Not if we're careful," He said with a wink, she didn't know why but it made her giggle. "let's just see what we can figure out, and if we find anything useful, we'll tell the police." Jace said to her.
Clary sighed and nodded. "Ok."
"Now, what are you going to wear for dinner tomorrow? I suggest a really short skirt and a crop top, but what do I know?" He winked and, once again, she giggled.
"Why would I tell you?" She asked.
"Because you really want to." He said smiling devilishly at her.
"I do, but I'm not going to, it's part of the fun." Clary said sticking her tongue out at him.
"Ugh, fine! But really, I suggest that you don't wear anything dressy, it's getting a bit chilly as well." Jace told her knowledgeably.
"I see." She said with a soft smile.
"Well," Jace said with a huff, "It's getting late, we both should get some sleep."
"Aww! Why?" She asked.
"Because we're gonna have to wake up before 10 if we ever plan to get out of the hotel on time." He said.
"Huh? Why?" She questioned once again.
"Because, once Izzy figures out that we're sort of going out on a date, she will spend forever trying to make you pretty, which, might I add, you don't need at all, and she's going to question me for an hour on where I'm taking you." Clary's cheeks burned hot at the thought that he had pretty much outright said that she was pretty with or without makeup.
"You're right." Clary said.
"Alright, I'm gonna go then, I'll come wake you up in the morning, kay?" Jace said. Clary nodded and Jace walked towards the door.
"Goodnight Clary." He said, and then he walked out. Clary turned out the lights and curled up with her pillow before whispering into it.
"Goodnight Jace, mum, Luke, and Simon."
Tada's, that's it! It was just a filler but it was pretty long and it took me forever to do.
So, I might not get the next chapter in on time, depending on my level of depressedness, basically this is because we are taking my dog to the vet on Thursday to be put down, he's in a lot of pain at this point and we don't want him hurting anymore. As I write this I kinda want to cry, but I'm not going to.
Anyways, please review for me, at least 10 reviews and I will make it by Sunday, with or without my sadness! Please do this for me you guys, it would mean a lot.
So I realized I haven't asked questions for a while at the end so here are some:
~Where should they go on Saturday?
~Will Simon forgive her?
~Is Jace going to give up being popular for Clary?
That's all I've got for you guys, please tell me your thoughts within your review, any ideas to give me ideas are great!
Love y'all!
Lilly
