Summer Holidays

Chapter 11

"Hermione!" shouted Harry.

She stirred from where she was cuddled up to Draco and sat up. Pushing her hair out of her face she peered through the tent flap.

As Hermione and Draco emerged, she blinks against the brightness of the morning sun. Neither noticed Ron.
"Everything all right?" she asked.
"Fine. Actually… more than fine," said Harry as he stepped aside and Hermione saw Ron, standing at the edge of the camp. She stares, mute, then stalked past Harry and the ashes of the campfire, stopping right in front of Ron. He raised a hand and smiled sheepishly.
"Hey."
And then… Hermione began to punch him.
"Woo — hey — ouch!"
"You — complete — arse — Ronald— Weasley! You crawl back here after all these weeks and say, 'Hey?'" she said with each punch.

She turned to Harry and began to stalk towards him. Draco pulled her towards him.

"Where's my wand? Harry, where's my wand!"
Harry placed his hand over his pocket.
"Um… I don't know?"
"Harry Potter, you give me my wand!" shouted Hermione, from Draco's arms.

"How come he's got your wand?" asked Ron, as Draco muttered in her ear. "You're so hot when you're angry."
"Never mind why he's got my wand" she shirked turning back to him before turning her head towards Draco. "Draco now is not the time."

"Look, I wanted to come back the minute I'd left. I just… didn't know how to find you," said Ron.

"Exactly how did you find us?" asked Harry.
"With this," answered pulling the Deluminator from his pocket.
"It doesn't just turn off lights. I don't know exactly how it works, but Christmas morning I — I was sleeping — in this little pub– I'd given some Snatchers the slip the night before, me being a blood traitor and all — anyway, I was sleeping when I heard it…" he explained.
"It?" asked Harry.
"A voice," Ron answered.

Ron turned to Hermione, holds up the Deluminator.

"Your voice, Hermione. Coming out of this," he said.
"And what may I ask did I say?" she asked, a snarky tone in her voice.
"My name. Just my name. Like a whisper," said Ron.
Hermione stood perfectly still.

So I took this and I clicked it and this tiny ball of light appeared. And I knew," said Ron.
"Knew what?" asked Draco.
"Just knew. On account of Hermione's voice. And sure enough, it floated toward me, the ball of light, right to my chest and then — went straight through — right here." Ron touches a point close to his heart. "I could feel it inside me. It was warm, like the first sip of a good cup of tea. And I knew it would take me where I needed to go. So I Disapparated and came out on this hillside. It was dark. I didn't have any idea where I was. I just had to hope one of you would show yourselves in the end. And you did."

"Anyone know who's patronus is a doe?" asked Harry.

"Snape why?" asked Draco.

"How would you know Snape's patronus?" asked Ron.

"He's my godfather," answered Draco.

"A doe patronus lead me to Ron," said Harry.

Draco smiled and looked at Hermione who nodded. "There's something you should know Potter but perhaps we should talk in the tent bloody cold out here. Even more so for you two."

Harry and Ron nodded and headed into the tent as Draco and Hermione stood for a second.

"When should we tell them the whole truth about us?" asked Hermione, in a whisper.

"I know you want to tell them but perhaps we shouldn't," said Draco. "You know who can still get into Harry's mind in weak moments and if he found out then he would make it his mission to kill you off."
"Why would he care?" asked Hermione.

"Well you Harry's friend, you're a muggle born but I think I was meant to be his heir," said Draco. "So he's want me to have a pureblood wife and heir."
"That's hypocrite," said Hermione.

"What do you mean?" asked Draco.

"You don't know?" asked Hermione.

"Obviously not," answered Draco.

"He's a half blood," answered Hermione. "His father was muggle and his mother a witch. He despised his father and sort to clear the world of muggles and muggles borns a like like Salazar."

"Well we have tainted the prestigious pureblood line Mrs Malfoy," said Draco.

"Indeed we have Mr Malfoy," smiled Hermione, leaning into her husband.

"Are you guys coming in or what!" shouted Harry, as the couple leaned in.

"Coming!" called Hermione, before quickly pressing her lips to Draco's.

"So what do I need to know?" asked Harry.

"Snape's patronus as we have just told you is a doe but so was your mothers. He loved your mother all his life, well from when he met her. They met in the town your mother was born in. He loved her then and loved her since and still loves her," started Draco.

"That's not possible," said Harry.

"Yeah next you'll be saying Harry's his love child or something," said Ron.

"No he's not. Lilly regarded their friendship as just that friendship and when she met James, Snape hated him because James and the Marauders hated him, bullied him. But Snape stepped back and let your mother be with James because he knew she loved him," carried on Hermione.

"How do you know all this?" asked Harry.

"From the start Snape was on you know who's side but when you know who murdered your mother Snape became Dumbledore's. And since then he's been spying for the Order. He's on our side," said Draco.

"I will never believe he nor you for that matter are on our side," hissed Ron.

"Look Weasley if I wanted to turn you over to you know who. I could have done it at the start," said Draco. "Hermione is my life and will never betray her like that. You guys are her brothers and you mean so much to her I could never and would never do that to her. Besides if I turned who over then who would kill him for the Light side. He's a hypocritical half blood who is trying to wipe out his own kind."

"He's a half blood?" asked Harry and Ron.

"How do people not know that?" asked Hermione.

"Because we don't read as much as you love," said Draco.

"What's your name girlie?" asked the Snatcher.

She locked eyes with Draco and he nodded.

And she spoke hoping her new name would protect her.

"Hermione Malfoy," she answered.

"No such person," answered the snatcher.

"Well," she said with an air of regal grace. "The wedding was kept very secret so the light side wouldn't try and find me and kill me. We're out doing a task for the Dark Lord."
"These two," said the Snatcher, pointing at Harry and Ron.

"We send them in first," said Draco, coming to stand next to Hermione and in front of Harry. "So if you'd like to live then I suggest you fire off otherwise he might just decided to take your life if he find out about this."

But the Snatcher had already gotten to close to Harry and despite the new formation of his face, the scar was clearly visible.

"We're not taking these to the ministry," he chocked out.
