Hello, hello, hello everyone!

First off, I would like to take this moment to sincerely apologize to each and every one of you. I know I said I would try and get a chapter up at least once a month but as we can all see I'm about two months late on that promise. I promise it wasn't because I forgot about the story or anything. I've been writing it this whole time.

My life really took some turns I wasn't expecting and my will to continue not only writing this but everything else I write was tested. I not only disappeared from you all but I disappeared from people who know me in real life. That's how bad it got for me. But I persevered through it and here I am, sharing with you all another chapter! I hope you enjoy this chapter and I thank you all so much for reading it! I believe it's a pretty long one too so hopefully that makes up for the wait. But enough of me talking! Enjoy it lovelies!

"Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped- turned upside down..." -Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

The Utonium household wasn't as loud as it usually got on any other day in their happy world. Instead, it would be a comfortable sort of silence within the house though there would seemingly be an undertone of apprehension. The television in the living room would be on, the volume only medium high as the news continued to ramble on.

The Professor would be downstairs in his laboratory as he usually was. Whenever he was in his lab it wasn't ever a surprising thing for him to spend such a long time hidden away to figure out his next. But the others could tell that this time it was something important going on in the depths of that lab and when one would go down they'd see it was true. He'd been watching the captured footage of the fights between his girls (and boomer) against those villainous creatures. He was positive he'd watched each and every single one and he could find no clue leading to some kind of solution on how to defeat them. It was becoming more and more annoying to the point that he was ready to throw a fit.

The only thing, however, that was connected was the way they arrived and left. Always through a hole of some sort. It was a swirling one with a mixture of different reds and black. It seemed to glow an eerie color as well, letting out a hum of some sort. It wasn't really something the professor had seen before. He'd questioned whether someone could have possibly created a gun of some sort that would open up anywhere to let those things out but there were never any people he could see around where the holes were.

There, however, was a nagging thought that maybe… Just maybe these things weren't exactly what the Professor thought. That they could even possibly not be of this world… For the professor, this went against everything he truly believed in and to be quite honest, he didn't want to think that this was, in fact, the answer.

"Professor?"

The voice ripped him away from his conflicting thoughts, his head swiveling to the stairs. It would be dark, but not dark enough to see those large pink eyes glistening. "Yes, Blossom?"

"Will you be coming up for dinner? It's almost ready."

"No Blossom. I'll be skipping tonight," He responded, throwing a quick smile in her direction as he turned back to his computer screen, the humming of it becoming comforting.

"You sure?"

"Positive. Thank you."

The teen would sigh in response, floating back up the steps and out of the door. The small click would emit from the closing of the door, signaling more than just the end of a conversation. The Professor would be down there for quite a while… Hours, days, weeks? One was never sure and wouldn't get the answer until the moment he stepped foot outside of that door.

"He's not coming up?" Bubbles asked, the sizzling of vegetables in the pan mixing with her voice.

Blossom shook her head, plopping down on the couch with a sigh as she looked in the kitchen. "No. This is definitely one of his lab runs. Who knows when he'll be coming out."

"That's too bad," Buttercup interjected, buttering some slices of bread to get them seasoned and toasted. "We were making one of his favorites."

"Those creatures have gotten the best of him." Bubbles sighed, pouting.

"It's stressing him out," Boomer spoke up, glancing over at Blossom as she shifted on the couch.

"It's stressing us all out." Buttercup retaliated, snorting as she mixed the veggies in the skillet. "Him, us, the whole town-"

"We just need to come up with a good plan is all. There's obviously something that we're not picking up about those damned things…"

"Face it, Bloss, we've tried looking at this problem from almost every aspect and we don't know what the hell the resolution is to them. Those devilkin are beasts." Buttercup said, turning around and making her way to a large bowl. Bubbles had just put the rice in there and had gone back to the chicken as Buttercup poured the seasoned vegetables on top of it.

"Okay one- That name you and Boomer have come up with needs to be evaluated and changed. Two- We still have so many more ideas to come across. We'll be fine once we find the right one."

"Whoa, Devilkin was never going away. Just accept it, Blossom." Boomer retorted, earning a small nudge from Blossom and glare.

"I think it works pretty well. It's not like we know exactly what those things are anyway." Bubbles spoke up, maneuvering around Buttercup who was in the process of getting the toasted bread and placing it next to the large bowl. Her hand continued to stir the sizzling chicken, her bright blue eyes focused on the darkening meat.

"But it's just so… Fantasy like… Like we're living in a fairytale."

"I think you mean scary story," Boomer responded, jumping up from the couch.

"You can't argue with that," Buttercup interjected, placing the large bowl of rice and vegetables on the dining room table before grabbing the plate of toast and placing it beside it. "This certainly is an odd story and for the citizens of Townsville it has certainly become a horror story."

"We can thank the media for that one," Blossom muttered, getting up herself. Absentmindedly wiping invisible dust from her shirt, she'd make her way into the kitchen to sit down along with Boomer as Bubbles finally poured the now cooked chicken in the large bowl.

"The media is having an absolute field day over this too. When has there ever been a time that the PowerPuff Girls-"

"And Boomer-"

"- And Boomer have ever lost to a villain. Let alone a villain that's destroying our town and even causing deaths!" Buttercup growled, raising a hand to try and express her frustration and anger.

"I overheard a few people in school today talking about us," Bubbles spoke, her voice getting soft as she sat down in a chair so that they were all situated around the table. "Talking about how this was just us not caring about the town anymore. Too caught up in trying to be cool and what not. One even had the audacity to say it was because we were getting into drugs."

Blossom sucked her teeth, those pink eyes glinting dangerously as they narrowed on her plate. "I'm getting tired of them. That much I'm sure of."

"Aren't we all…" Boomer responded, filling his plate with food followed by the rest of them. Their dinner would be consumed by silence, words only being spoken here or there. It was obvious that the mood of the house had taken a sudden shift, one that they weren't happy about. But to be able to truly lift it they knew they'd have to beat the Devilkin.

It was freezing now. Sure, one would have thought she would have been able to withstand the cold due to her superpowers but she was still a person dammit. One that got cold very easily. Being outside however at 2 in the morning didn't help much either. Especially the fact that she was lounging on the edge of one of the taller buildings in their city. A petite hand would pull at the small beanie on top of her head, the blonde tendrils underneath cascading down past her shoulders. She would glance at the tips of her hair, frowning momentarily as she did not particularly enjoy wearing her hair down. Since youth, pigtails had been her thing and she continued to wear them in high school though she would swap it out with a regular ponytail every once in awhile. So this time would only bring anyone to the conclusion that it was rushed and quite frankly- last minute. Blue eyes glistening from the brightness of the moon, she'd survey the streets beneath her feet with mundane interest. When in the hell would-

A small tug on the back of her head would immediately catch her attention, her torso turning just enough to see what it was. Her eyes would, however, bore into the same molten ones that seemed to haunt her dreams more than she would admit.

"Your hair is down…" He mumbled after a few seconds of silence, letting those red orbs drift back down to the piece of hair in his hand.

"Thank you for noticing?" She responded, not really sure what to reply with.

"It's different."

"Well, I wasn't given much notice about this meeting so I apologize for not looking presentable enough." She muttered, betraying her usual preppy look to share a scowl with him.

He raised an eyebrow, sitting down beside her. "It would do you well to not be so hostile."

"Can you blame me?"

"May I ask why I'm getting hostility?"

"You should have appeared weeks ago Brick. You said we would talk again soon. This is not soon enough."

Brick wouldn't respond for a moment, letting his eyes look out at the sky before them. Cracking a knuckle absent-mindedly he would simply give her a shrug. "I got caught up."

Bubbles scoffed but settled down a bit when she finally took a good look at him. He looked like… For lack of a better word- shit. For someone with superpowers, he certainly had bags under his eyes and dark circles. There was a sign of a cut on his cheek that she knew should have healed long ago. Yet it was still there. A telltale sign that he was in some deep shit.

"What happened to you?" She asked her tone now one of concern.

"It doesn't concern you Bubbles."

"It concerns me enough. Like you've said before; if you talk to me then that means there's a problem. You're talking to me and you look like you just lost a battle. Not to mention that wound on your face. You have healing powers. That should be gone. What's going on."

"Certainly the intrusive one, aren't you? Blossom been rubbing off?"

"Brick."

"Don't worry about it."

"Brick, you can't just tell me not to worry about it-"

"It doesn't concern you." He barked, his red eyes flashing as they seemed to grow darker. Bubbles mouth immediately closed, her eyes widening slightly at the sudden tone he gave her. She wouldn't retaliate, instead turning to look away from him and letting the silence wash over them once more. Both would sit there. Bubbles wouldn't know what to say. She wondered if he was having the same problem.

"We've been having a problem." She spoke up after a few more seconds of the silence that was pushing her over the edge. "A big one."

"What would that be?" He asked, not bothering to give her the satisfaction of a glance in her direction.

She'd stare at him for a few more seconds before letting out a small sigh and looking back out at the sky. "We've come across some new villains. Can't defeat them. The just… They appear out of seemingly nowhere. Destroy buildings like it's nothing. They've even taken lives."

This seemed to pique his interest now as Bubbles would look to see those eyes staring at her. His face would be devoid of an emotion yet his eyes... They sparkled in emotions she couldn't decipher. "Keep going. What else are they doing?"

"Nothing more than that. They appear they destroy, we try and fight them only to lose and then they leave. The first time we fought them they were able to break Blossom's leg."

"Leave. How do they leave?"

"Through these circles? I don't know. Buttercup called them portals which I guess is a good way to describe it. They 'portals' swirl this black and red color. Kind of fascinating the way the swirls move. Then just like that, they walk into them. One by one until they're all gone. Then the portals seem to just disappear. Fizzle into nothing."

Bubbles would watch him closely, those blue orbs taking in every movement he allowed himself to make. His eyes darkening slightly, as his hands clenched into fists.

"So you now have… Creatures that appear out of nowhere, cause destruction, and then leave? Now they've started taking lives?"

"Well, it isn't like they target anyone," Bubbles interjected, "They destroy a building that someone's in who either gets injured fairly well or in a few cases- killed."

"They will be. Eventually." Brick muttered, causing Bubbles to raise an eyebrow.

"Wait, what? What do you mean they will be? Do you know what's going on?"

"Don't worry about it Bubbles," Brick responded, jumping off the edge of the building to float in front of her. "I need to go."

"You know something." Bubbles accused, her eyes narrowing as a vicious frown flickered upon her lips. "Speak."

"Not now," Brick said, frowning at her. "It isn't your concern."

"But if it has something to do with my city then it does-"

"I've got to go."

"Brick!"

Brick would come to find a small fist, clenching onto his shirt. He'd be abruptly pulled forward, a choking noise escaping his lips as his red eyes met her blue.

"I've been letting it slide for all of these years," She spoke, her voice quiet yet filled with such dark emotions he almost winced. "Every. Single. Year. Never asked questions. Kept moving even when you ignored the ones I did have. Never told anyone either. But this right here? I can't let it slide. The town is in a panic and if you know something you need to fucking speak up."

Brick blinked, staring at the fuming blonde in front of him. He wouldn't talk for a while, the wind whipping past them. Then very slowly, the red-headed young man would let his hand slip over hers, untangling her hand from his shirt until it fell on her lap once more.

"I'm not going to talk. Not now at least."

"Brick-"

"I'll stick around. I may be able to help. Don't hold it on me, though."

Bubbles would go quiet, staring at her sister's counterpart. Her eyebrows would be slightly furrowed, one raised just a smidge higher than the other to indicate her feelings on what he'd just told her. She was suspicious to say the least but at the same time what was she to do? Brick had always been independent. Even when they were still just kids Brick took everything upon himself and got it done despite a number of times she tried to help. It wasn't something that was going to change now. Bubbles wondered if it ever would.

A small sigh and huff later, Bubbles would give him a nod. "Fine, you can go avoid everything like you've been doing. But I swear to you Brick, you will tell me what you know."

She'd be given a smirk in reply. The same one that years ago, had made her queasy and unsure of if she wanted to acknowledge those emotions that swelled within her. As for now, she was positive they didn't give the same effect. She hoped.

"It'll all come into play," He'd give her, shoving his hands in his pockets as he looked to his left with a sniff. "Though I'm sure you won't like it…."

"I hardly like much when it comes to destruction and chaos. However, in this case, do your worst." She responded, finally letting him go with a small sigh.

"I always do my worst."

With that, Bubbles would watch his red streak move away from her… it shining brightly through the dark air as it faded away and become nothing more than a trace.

This has to be the most annoying thing we've ever had to do since babysitting the gang green last year."

Blossom only spared her raven-haired sister a glance, not bothering to comment as she may have done any other time before. She was a bit spiffed herself however she wouldn't speak on it. It was their duty to protect Townsville. It had been since they were young girls and it wasn't going to stop anytime soon.

"Just another hour or so of this and we'll be done." Bubble's voice responded. They weren't together but had their own ear pieces and mics. As Miss Bellum had explained it: More ground covered. Blossom had a small suspicion it was also to listen in. What for? She wasn't too sure but it was understandable to a degree. The town's' trust seemed to be fading and pretty quickly.

The others found it ridiculous and Bubbles was even hurt by the sudden realization. Blossom was as well but she put on a brave front, continuing on with her duties to protect the city. She had even helped conjure up a meeting with the mayor as well as a few leaders within the town to come up with a plan for their predicament.

The plan had been to evacuate. There was a pattern of the devilkin having appeared within certain spots in the city and only those spots. So anyone having lived in that area was to leave their homes. Grab up their valuables and haul ass to a new home. No one was sure if this was temporary or permanent. Blossom had a feeling there would be an increase in anger towards her and the others if it became permanent.

As for now? No one desired to think about it.

"Hey so uh... How about we get some pizza after this?" Boomer's voice rang out. Blossom rolled her eyes as Bubbles giggled. Leave it to him.

"Order about seven pies. The boys are coming over tonight-"

"Buttercup! You didn't ask the professor!" Blossom interjected, her eyebrows furrowing with annoyance.

"Oh, I did. Last night while he was in the lab." Buttercup replied, her voice thick with a sweet tone Blossom knew was far from just that. She could just imagine the smug smirk on her sister's lips.

"You know he wasn't all the way there! The last time they came over they-"

"Stop nagging me, Blossom. If you have a problem hang out in your room."

A gasp would escape Blossom's lips, her face an expression of anger. "Buttercup, how rude-"

"As much as I would love to let this beautiful conversation continue there are some more pressing matters." Boomer's voice broke through, catching the three's' attention.

"What is it?"

"Our lovely guests have made an appearance."

"Where are you?" Blossom asked, her expression becoming one of seriousness as she paused.

"Corner of Fifth and Dale."

Within seconds, the lead Powerpuff would make her way to the corner, meeting up with the other four as their eyes trained in the grotesque beasts in front of them.

"They are so disgusting..." Bubbles would mumble as they watched.

"What's the plan, Blossom?" Buttercup shouted, trying to hear over the sudden ghoulish scream one emitted. Any other time, she would say her usual plan to defend as much as they could and fight if possible. But something here was off.

"Wait!" She ordered, lifting a hand up as she stared at the one who had screamed. It seemed to go slack for a moment. It could have been mistaken for some horribly made statue or mannequin but just as soon as it had frozen it seemed to reanimate itself. It jumped up and down, letting out more noises as the other creatures around it went still.

"What the hell is going on?" Boomer wondered aloud for the whole group.

Though if one were to ask him after this moment, he would admit to not wanting the answer he got. The swirling vortexes behind the devilkin let out a loud hum, now growing in size and fast.

"That's not good. That's not fucking good!" Buttercup shouted over the hum, as the others drifted a few inches back.

Then just like that, the supers would have a front row seat to the new arrival of devilkin. Standing at least four to six stories tall, there came new creatures, each one uglier than its' predecessor.

"You've got to be fucking kidding!" Buttercup shrieked as more shot out, piercing the air with their wailing piercing the tense air. Their bodies were long and spindly, tufts of hair sprouting out randomly as their skin whether it be a nasty pink or puke like green glistened in the sky. The tip of its body evolved into a sharp piercing tail, one that looked like it could skewer someone and do some damage. Their wings looked too small for their bodies but functioned quite well as they swiftly moved back and forth through the sky like a hummingbird.

Then just like that, they'd shoot off. It would only be something of a millisecond before the orders were given.

"Bubbles! After the fliers. Boomer and Buttercup, you guys work on the big guys. I'll try to hold back the smaller ones."

"Got it Bloss!" Bubbles shouted over the roaring of one of the devilkin, shooting off after the creatures that had flown away to go do damage.

Buttercup had already shot forward, landing a kick on one of the larger creatures and surprisingly causing it to take a step back to balance itself. It turned toward Buttercup, letting out a loud wail, the teen's hair flying this way and that as she wrinkled her nose.

"Close your damn mouth! Your breath stinks!" She screamed in response, flying back in to land another round of punches and kicks. The one beside it would turn, it's black eyes with fire like pupils trained on Buttercup. It would let out an animalish howl, raising an arm that was directed to hit Buttercup. But before it could get close, the hand would be pushed away, the force behind the counterattack enough to push the monster back with a surprised yelp.

Boomer raised up, glaring at the creature, rolling his neck for those familiar cracks.

"Not nice to try and gang up on people." He'd snarl, a smirk coming to his lips. He'd fly in the same way Buttercup had not too long away, being sure to dodge the array of arms trying to knock him down. A hiss would escape his lips when one would manage to make contact with his left foot, a shot of pain running up his leg though he'd do his best to ignore, using his right to give the creature a round kick with his right hand on what he assumed was his chin. Boomer took a moment to pause.

"Yeah really…. What the fuck is what on you?" He wondered out loud, hearing a screech to his right. He'd turn and backup just in time for one of those slimy creatures to zip right past him. He'd make a disgruntled noise, dodging the next two before seeing Bubbles zip past him.

"You good Bubs?"

"Just fine!" She'd shout back to him, looking straight ahead of her and at the three things before her. She understood why Blossom had chosen her for these three. She was the fastest out of all of them and was pretty good at keeping up with whatever but damn these things were moving. Zipping in and out, Bubbles would follow the worms as she'd taken to calling them, whipping around building after building. She'd come close to grabbing them but the smell they emitted as well as the appearance was enough to keep her disgusted and unwanting of touching them. That disgust though would have to be sucked up eventually and she'd have to fight at some point.

Her racing thoughts had been a distraction and before she knew it her sight of flying forward would momentarily grow hazy and whirl around as she flew to the side. The creature in the front had broken away from the group without her realizing and had taken that chance to fly into her side. She'd try to regain control but it wouldn't happen until she was slammed into a building. She'd lay in her imprint for a few moments, taking a deep breath as those tiny wings of theirs quickly flapped away. With a small grunt, Bubbles would get out of it, examining the damage done before flying to find them.

They had been not too far away, seeming to leisurely fly around that part of the city. Stopping here and there, they'd bump into buildings to leave small cracks and what not when something of even greater value would come across their deformed eyesight.

A small group of rebellious teens had taken their chance to walk the abandoned city, taking videos and pictures all the while since it seemed cool. The telltale signs of a fight could be heard all around and the direction the teens may have been going at one point was drastically changed. Why not take pictures of the fight going on?

There would be a high pitched squeal, being emitted from one of them as it dove in the air. It amazed Bubbles how easily the thing did that. She was certain they weren't this agile. More of a cumbersome kind of body. But they'd certainly proved her wrong. Without a moment's hesitation, Bubbles flew as fast as she could towards the beast getting ready to devour its prey.

"Well, where the hell is it? I can hardly see anything." I the blonde haired girl complained, taking a step after the burly guy in front of her.

"They should just be right over there. You can hear them fighting. Look! You see that foot! We're close! We can cash these pictures too! The news people will love it!" He said, his best friend chuckling from the back of the line.

"Uh, guys? We have bigger problems!" Another girl squealed, pointing up at the creature hurtling towards them, her words growing louder until she was screaming.

"Holy shit!" Burly spoke, turning back around and struggling to run over the debris they'd been climbing on just seconds earlier.

The creature would get close, letting out a hideous howl, its smell now permeating their noses as they gagged in disgust. It wouldn't complete its mission however as the blonde Powerpuff flew in its way. Not having enough time to move out of the way, it could only cooperate with the teen as she grabbed onto it and used the moment to throw it away from them.

"Not today you little shit." Bubbles grumbled under her breath, staring at the squealing creature as it soared through the air, the other two flying after it. Those blue orbs would then flicker down onto the guilt group before her, a small frown coming to her face. "You need to leave. Now!" She ordered.

They wouldn't retaliate against her and would instead turn right around and get out of there.

There would the sound of something almost alike to an explosion not too long after Blossom's words and the other three would hear the terrified screams of civilians.

"Blossom what's going on?" Bubbles spoke, pausing for a moment as Buttercup let out a curse.

"My creature is getting away. It's heading toward Bloss!"

"Same here. I'm trying to stop it but it seems to be really adamant." Boomer said, watching his large creature turn away and make its way over to the street Blossom was on.

"Requesting backup!" Blossom yelled, her eyes widening at the sight of the devilkin now standing in the dust of destroyed concrete. "I repeat, requesting back up!"

Blossom would glance down at the baby in her hold and would stop a runner, thrusting the child into their arms.

"Take her!" Blossom ordered as they nodded in response, resuming their run.

She'd stare down the creatures, watching as they all stared with their inhuman colored eyes. Random ones would let out those blood-curdling screams and shrieks, their bodies grotesquely moving around.

"On my way Bloss. My targets have seemingly retreated." Bubbles responded, already zooming away from her own section to aid her sister.

"We'll try to get there when we can," Boomer added in, dodging the claw from his creature. "These creatures aren't exactly helping us out-" He wouldn't be able to finish his sentence as a loud whooshing would emit from the air. Within seconds the same large vortex that had been there before would appear once again. Both Boomer and Buttercup would stare at it in amazement, halting in mid-air at the sight of it as the creators that they'd been fighting halted as well.

A deafening screech would emit from it that the creatures would respond to automatically.

"The fuck is this?" Buttercup screeched, wincing and holding a hand to her ear.

"I don't know but it's calling those two back," Boomer responded, watching as the creatures turn and walk back to the vortex. "Maybe I should go after them…"

"Don't you dare Boomer!" Buttercup snarled at him, gripping his shoulder to keep him from moving any closer to it. "Let's take this as some blessing in disguise and help the others!"

He would look at her for a moment, finally giving her a solemn nod before dashing towards the other two.

Bubbles had already gone to work, giving everything she had at the devilkin on the street. There wasn't much damage being done however it seemed which pissed her off to no end.

"What exactly are these things made of?" Bubbles growled, staring down at them as she took a breather while Boomer and Buttercup joined up with her.

"Something that even we can't seem to break through," Boomer grunted, lifting a hand and letting a laser emit towards a group of them. It would make an impact, dust and smoke being the repercussion but as soon as it cleared, they'd be there seemingly untouched.

"What are we supposed to do with this?" Bubbles wondered out loud as Blossom finally managed to get back after helping evacuate people as far as she deemed safe enough. They would be fine on their own. She had wondered the same thing. These damn things were ruining her city- her home. Her feelings on this subject? To put it in Buttercup's words: She wasn't fucking with it.

"Blossom, what's the plan. They're starting to move!" Buttercup's voice brought her out of her own thoughts, her pink eyes looking down at the ground to see that they were in fact moving.

"We can't stop them. Our powers aren't able to hurt them. The best we can do is block them off and hope for the best." Blossom said, looking at their surroundings. The buildings would probably be the best but she already knew there would be big repercussions for destroying an entire building. So what exactly could they use that wouldn't cause them as much trouble. She racked her brain for the answer, letting her eyes search high and low before finally letting her eyes rest on the car not too far from them.

"Build a wall!" Blossom shouted, already zipping towards cars. "Use the cars!"

The others followed orders, finding as many cars as they could and building a sort of wall. Blossom wasn't sure if it would work out but anything to help them out right now would be perfect. It would be about 20 cars later, they'd have a pretty standard wall of automobiles.

"Blossom you sure that's gonna work?" Boomer asked as they watched the devilkin slowly making their way towards it.

"I'm not quite sure," Blossom muttered, biting her lip. If the barricade from before hadn't worked, then what would make cars any different?

"What about a building?"

"Well maybe. It would have a better chance than the cars but-"

There would be no end to her sentence, Buttercup already using her eye lasers to destroy the building beside them. With a groan, It would collapse, dust reaching out into the sky. It would cause the others to cough but Buttercup would push through, grabbing the larger pieces of debris and throwing them behind the cars to give it a better chance.

"Repercussions Buttercup!" Blossom yelled at her. "That's going to come back on us!"

"Shut up and help me!"

Blossom's nose would wrinkle but she wouldn't retaliate; instead choosing to help. The blues would make their way as well and once they were done, each would land on the cracked road under them, staring up at the wall they created.

"We did a pretty damn good job. I'm going to be pissed if this doesn't work… Well, even more, pissed off than I already am." Buttercup would say after a round of silence.

"I think you're talking for everyone there," Boomer responded, looking behind them for any signs of creatures before staring back. "They should be making contact any second now…"

Indeed they were. The four could hear the creatures getting closer and closer, their screeching and other noises getting louder. Then the moment they finally hit the wall, there would be silence. This silence would bring tension to the teens, who waited for something- anything.

This deafening silence would last longer than any of them wished for it too.

"Did we… Did we stop them?" Bubbles would question.

"Who is going up to check?" Buttercup asked, as they all looked at each other.

"Blossom." The blues and one green would say, causing a small snarl from the leader. Taking a deep breath, the redhead would pause before letting herself rise from the ground to go see. Though she wouldn't get too far off when an explosion would push her and the others back.

Hitting the ground with a grunt, Blossom would slide a few more feet before finally coming to a halt.

"You guys okay?!" She'd cough out, forcing herself to sit up and waft away the dust around her.

"Fine over here!" Bubbles would call from somewhere to her left.

"Fine!" Buttercup was near her.

"The hell was that?" Boomer groaned to her right.

"Those damn devilkin. That what is fucking was. They're literally indestructible. How the fuck are we supposed to stop them?!" Buttercup yelled as the devilkin started their screeching once more.

All four would watch the scene folding before them as their latest opponent pushed through their wall.

"I feel like we're doomed." Bubbles whispered to herself, watching as the devilkin made their way through the destroyed wall. What else could they do now? They'd have to keep evacuating. Townsville's future was dark before but watching their opponent continuously bounce back from every single obstacle they put in its way made it seem even darker.

Blossom chewed on her bottom lip, still at a lost. Now was the time to retreat. That seemed to be the only logical thing to do-

A whirring noise would pierce the air behind them and before Blossom could turn to see what it was, there would be a blast in front of her. When whatever it was had made its hit, there would be a reaction none of them had seen before. Loud screeching would be emitted from those near the blast point though it would seem more choked up. As though they were in pain…

"What the hell…" Buttercup would wonder for them all as they jumped up to their feet. There would be a few more blasts, hitting more and more of the creatures. Their screams piercing the air as they finally began retreating.

Blossom stared in surprise at the sight before her, her mind still trying to wrap around that fact that someone or something was actually affecting those creatures. That whatever it was, wasn't them. Did this mean another villain for them to deal with? Would they even be able to handle this new villain? They couldn't even defeat these creatures and there it was, doing it like it was easy! Taking a sharp breath, Blossom would prepare herself for the introduction of her next foe; already making plans on escape routes and the positions of the crew when they fought. She'd force herself to stand just as the others had finally started to do as well, turning around to confront it.

The moment her eyes landed on the game changer- every plan would fly out the window.

"Holy…" Buttercup's voice would drift as Boomer made a small stutter.

Bubbles, on the other hand, would only bring herself to smile. "It's about time you got here… Brick."

He'd glance down at the blonde, giving a small sniff in response before going back to pushing the devilkin further back. They'd be scrambling; shrieking and screaming along the way until those very portals would appear and they'd each disappear. Then when all was quiet and the job of protecting the city was done, the young man would let himself gravitate back towards the ground, making a small thump when his feet finally landed. Then with his hand in his pocket, he'd stare at the four before him. There was no smile on his face nor was it one of dark emotion. It was… Neutral.

Every single one of them had different emotions rushing through them at that time but if there was one thing they could all actually wrap their minds around it was the fact that the young man before them was, in fact, alive and well with something completely different about him.

Brick was back and their world as they knew it was about to change.
