Note: Hello Guys! Wow, it's been awhile since I upload the last chapter, and I'm so sorry for it. I know there's no excuses but I'm busy with school right now. I'm in my senior year of high school so school projects and homework are hard for me (and for everyone, I guess). But vacations are coming and I'll have free days, so my writting will start again. One more time so sorry for being absent all this time without saying anything.
But here's the following chapter and very soon, I'll try to upload the other one. Thanks so much for your patient! And thanks for keep following this story. It means a lot for me.
PD: Happy Thanksgiving!
"Yes, Ji." Emily ran a hand through her hair, grumbling slightly. "Okay! No, Jayden has a tough head, and Lauren... she just doesn't always think things through. Okay, yeah. Yes, I know, I already gave her some bandages. Nah, Jayden didn't need it. Is that it? Okay, yeah, I'll let them know. Thanks, Ji. Bye." Emily stuffed her phone back into her pocket with a sigh, turning on her heel to face Lauren and Jayden.
The two siblings had matching towels wrapped around their backs and were arguing. Emily tried to get their attention, eventually turning to snapping her fingers in front of their faces to get their attention.
"Hey! Ji said that you'll be fine," she paused, then added, "and that you two are idiots."
"Did he really say that?" Jayden asked, arms crossed across his chest as he looked at her skeptically.
"No, but you are!" Emily huffed. "Were you even thinking? Just..." Emily sighed again before recollecting herself and continuing. "Just let me know if you feel dizzy, okay, Jayden? And Lauren, there's nothing wrong with your arm, but it'll hurt."
Lauren turned to shoot Jayden a look before smiling sweetly at Emily. "Thank you."
"Hey," Jayden protested, "it was fun! It was pretty cool when you flew off, you gotta admit that much."
"Cool?" Lauren argued. "You almost killed both of us! How is that cool?"
"I still can't believe it." Emily smiled slightly, watching Jayden shift under Lauren's glare.
With all the time the Rangers had, they had dunked their friends, floated around, and splashed people in the face, but then decided to get out of the pool and try something new.
Mike had suggested riding motorcycles, and since no one objected, Jayden, Lauren, Mike, Kevin, and Mia went off to rent some. While they were gone, Emily stayed at the tent, making snacks. She knew that going on a bumpy ride could be dangerous because she was pregnant. Antonio also didn't want to ride, so he grabbed his things and ran to the lake, where he would catch some dinner and enjoy at the same time his favorite hobby.
Awhile later, Jayden and Lauren arrived without any motorcycles and covered in mud. Emily was surprised that her friends arrived, dirty and slightly beaten up. She asked for an explanation immediately, and their answer surprised her.
"You seriously wasn't thinking, was you Jayden?" The yellow ranger chuckled "I still can't believe you did it"
"I thought it could be fun" Jayden shrugged "You were telling me this had to be fun and all that stuff"
" Yeah, but I think a little of precaution would fit in"
" Oh well, who understand you? First you tell me to have fun and once I start having it, you complain"
" I'm not" Emily shook her head " But…are you sure you're okay?" She took Jayden's head between her hands and frowned "I mean…are you Jayden Shiba? Our leader who taught us to think properly?"
" I am" the red ranger let his head free " But please understand, I never imagined there would be a hole in the middle of the road"
"But why have you had to pass through the puddle?" Lauren copped her hand around her ear "Tell me, why?"
Jayden rolled his eyes "It was go through the puddle or the bushes, decide"
"The bushes" Lauren stuck out her tongue. " It was safer"
" I never thought it would be a big hole in the middle of the puddle that was in the middle of the way!"
"Yes, but you're the brilliant guy with awesome ideas and can figure out everything in this world. But now I realized the head of the Shiba House can't imagine risks and get himself and his sister into a big jump with a motorbike!"
"I never imagined we'd fly off!" Jayden got up from his chair and dried his wet hair. The shower he had taken minutes ago was starting to make a sensation of refreshing in his body and because it was getting darker at the same time it was getting colder. "I'll get a sweater" he said and walked to the tent where all the bags were.
"Please bring me one" Emily said
"And for me!" Lauren said too.
" Yeah, yeah"
Emily shook her head in disbelief and sat in the chair Jayden had left. She sighed and looked to Lauren "He is seriously trying to blend in"
"Yeah, way so weird" Lauren rolled her eyes "You must have seen us, there on the ground….and the mud…and huh! He said it'd be fun and see where he got me" She said pointing to her injured arm.
"Yeah, but don't make a big deal" Emily said "It might was the adrenaline that took over Jayden's common sense"
"I don't doubt it"
"And it was the first time in a totally freedom…"
"So?"
"You already got it…" Emily shrugged "It was a small accident"
"Yes, Emily, but it could have been worse"
"It's only your protective instincts, Lauren; calm down" Emily explained "A miniscule concussion and an injured arm happen to everyone"
"Oh really?" Lauren raised an eyebrow
" Oh, just count to ten" Emily chuckled since she thought Lauren was exaggerating.
Jayden came back with a sweater for his sister and Emily. The yellow ranger thanked him and it was then, when she heard footsteps getting near. They thought it could be Antonio returning with the fresh dinner but instead of the Gold ranger, it was Mike walking to them.
"Mike, what happened?!" The yellow ranger jumped out from her chair when she saw her fiancé had a bit of problem walking and had some scrapes on his face.
"Hey, Em" Mike gestured and walked as much as his legs let him, but after a few steps more, he let himself fall on the ground.
"Mike, what happened?" Emily asked again, the worry evident on her face.
"Uh, nothing. I was on my way here but a squirrel crossed. And well, I didn't want to… squash it with the bike. But it's okay, I just got through a big bush and I crashed into a tree"
Emily made a horrified face "What?"
"Count to ten, Emily" Lauren muttered from her chair
The yellow ranger shot Lauren a look and turned to Mike again, "are you okay? I mean, other than what I see?"
" I'm fine, though this one small hurts" Mike said pointing to his cheek where a little but painful scrape was.
" Ok, I should clean you up. Luckily, Jay and Lauren are ahead and made me take out the first aid Kit"
" Uh? Why? What happened to…ouch"
The green ranger chuckled as he saw his friends, smirking at their injuries.
"What happened to you guys? A bear almost killed you? "
"No" Lauren answered "But the summary is: Jayden became crazy"
" Why? What did he do?"
"NO-THING" Jayden extended the syllables to make it clear. He had returned with the sweaters, and shoved one at Lauren's chest "And Lauren, you need to be more discreet!"
"How am I supposed to do that? I can't just hide my arm!"
"Then you should do something about it" Jayden said
" Whoa, whoa, whoa what's happening here guys?" Mike got up to his feet and smirked "Come on, I wanna know"
" It was…"
" Not now. You'll chat later" Emily interrupted the conversation and helped Mike to sit on a rock. He hissed of pain but Emily ignored it "first I'm going to disinfect you"
" Disinfect me?" Mike gulped " I'm okay, it's nothing"
" No you're not" Emily showed her disagreement.
Mike pulled his arm away from Emily and looked to her pleading "I'm fine, Em. I swear. Please we don't have to do this"
But the young girl ignored any request by Mike and fought arm to arm to approached Mike's arm, where he had some scrapes as well.
" Come on, Mike. It's going to get worse"
" No, no wait. I said I'm fine"
"I'm not… taking any…risk" Emily said struggling Mike's arm. He was shaking his head fervently as he begged for mercy. But the yellow ranger was determinate to clean all signs of bacteria.
" It's some alcohol. Don't be a baby"
The green ranger was still refused to let any cotton touched him and pushed away Emily's hand as far as his arms could.
" No! I'll wash my face and arm. I promise"
" It's…not the same. Let me put it on, it looks painful"
"So how do you think the alcohol is gonna feel like?"
"Let my…hands free Mike. It's…for your well-being"
"My well-being is fine"
" Mike!"
" Em!"
"Such a loving couple" Lauren chuckled.
Meanwhile the yellow and green ranger were fighting, Jayden took a seat next to his sister. It was then, when Antonio, Mia and Kevin arrived.
The gold ranger first saw Mike and Emily discussing and frowned. So he turned to Jayden to look for an answer but frowned even more when he noticed his friend was bandaged. "What's happening here?"
"Are we in the right place?" Mia whispered to Kevin who shook his head.
"I don't think so"
"We're fine. Don't worry" Lauren assured her three friends. "Nothing that nurse Emily can't do"
"Yeah, but…"
"The important thing is that you're here" Jayden interrupted Antonio "I'm starving"
The gold ranger nodded unsure but lifted his bucket full of fishes.
"I got the enough to feed an army. We should start preparing everything"
"I'll help" Mia immediately raised her hand that caused Antonio rolled his eyes.
"Ok, just don't touch anything"
"Meanwhile Lauren and I are going to put the table" Jayden got up and offered his sister a hand to help her up.
Kevin then, walked to Emily and Mike to see what was happening.
"Guys" He called but got no answer. "Guys…" There was no answer "Guys!"
"What?" Emily and Mike snapped at once.
"Um, we're going to eat"
"Great!" Mike jumped up from the rock and freed from Emily's hands.
"Mike! Wait up, I haven't finish" Emily called
"But I have" He answered
She rolled her eyes and began to accommodate the first aid kid in its place.
"How was your ride with Mia, Kev?" She asked as she cleaned up.
Kevin shrugged, trying to ignore his happiness "It was…good"
"yeah?"
"Yes"
"Well, I believe you. I swear I was just waiting you both ready with an ambulance" Emily chuckled
Kevin frowned "By the way, what happened with Mike? And with Jayden? And Lauren?"
The yellow ranger sighed "Long story. I'll leave it for the campfire"
"But…" Kevin tried to argue back but Emily ignored him walking away to Antonio and Mia. He shrugged and decided to wait.
The gold ranger had put on a small table all the ingredients he would need to prepare dinner for him and his friends. He would cook the fresh fishes that were waiting in his bucket and he'd do a special treat for the occasion. But just when he was ready to start cooking, something was missing in his list.
"Mia? Where is the small stove?" He asked looking around in search for the artifact he was going to cook with.
"The stove?" Mia bit her lip "I…I don't know"
Antonio turned to her and raised his eyebrows, his voice a bit of worried. "You packed it, didn't you?"
"I…did?…" The pink ranger was trying to lengthen the words as much as she could, while trying to remember packing everything they would need for the kitchen.
"Mia…"
"I'm sorry Antonio. I forgot it" The pink ranger said in a guilty voice "I thought I had packed it but now that I remember…I left it in my house"
"But Kevin triple checked the list, he must have seen it" Antonio said
"Yeah, but I told him it was in the car. I didn't see it, though, but Kevin believed me"
"Love is blind" Antonio rolled his eyes "It's okay, amiga. We'll need to start a campfire, then"
"Guys, do you need something, I heard my name" Kevin said walking to the gold and pink ranger. "What's wrong?"
"We forgot the stove to start cooking our dinner, therefore we need a campfire" Antonio answered
"And?"
"It won't turn on alone" Mia added.
Kevin nodded and turned around "Tree boy! You're called here!"
Antonio and Mia chuckled and Mike approached them with an angry face.
"Don't call me like that, ok?" Mike snapped "what's up?"
"You're the chosen one to collect wood" Antonio replied "For a campfire"
"Sweet" Mike grinned
"Yeah, yeah. If it is faster, faster we'll eat"
Mike frowned "What? What did we forget?"
"It's not big deal, ok?" Mia threw her hands to the air and walked away.
