SHOUT OUTS/ANSWERS

Andorian Ice Princess-AIP: Right? I wanna hug him too and I'm the one doing this to him. Well, hopefully this chapter will be a little less frustrating and I'm glad you like the bromance scenes. And you'll see what happens with Voight and whoever Matt fingers. Sorry this isn't soon enough.

WolfGirl75: Here's more. Sorry it isn't soon enough.

Chicago Fire belongs to Dick Wolf and NBC. I only own the plot and characters you don't recognize.

For a while, Hank just held Matt as the firefighter sobbed. Then, he watched as the younger man finally pulled back and swiped at his eyes.

"A name, Matty. I need a name. You know you can trust me," he stated.

"He'll kill me. You know he will," the younger man protested. And then he'd kill his family. Or maybe he'd kill them first and then come after him. It all depended on what kind of a mood he was in. Either way, Hank knew that he couldn't be running off his mouth.

"I won't let him anywhere near you. Or your family," he quickly promised. Given everything that had happened since they had started this investigation, he didn't blame the kid for being scared, but if he was going to do anything, he needed the kid to trust him. I just want this to be over, Matt thought to himself as he let out a sigh. He knew that Hank would protect him. He had done it before.

"Todd Griffin. Captain Todd Griffin." Hearing the name, Hank did a double-take. Was Matty serious? That must've been who Alvin saw harassing Matt, he thought to himself. Though he didn't really know the guy, there was just something about him that had always rubbed him the wrong way.

"From the thirty-third?"

"Yeah."

"We'll get him." Matt just sighed. Damn, what had he done? How could he have broken down like that? If Cordone or Griffin ever found out that he had told, there'd be Hell to pay for sure.

"I just-I don't know. I want it all to be over."

"Hey listen to me. You don't have to be scared, all right? I'll take care of this. I didn't take care of Cordone or his boys properly all those years ago because I was focused on getting you clean, but I'll take care of them now."

"They'll come after me."

"I won't let 'em." The officer pulled one of the candy bars he had gotten from the vending machines out of his pocket and he handed it to firefighter.

"What? No beer?" Matt joked as he took the offered candy bar.

"Not in a hospital," Hank said, giving him a look as if to say "Ha-ha." Matt unwrapped the candy bar and bit into it. Truthfully, it had reminded him of when he was younger and Hank would give him sugar to help him fight the cravings when he was trying to get clean. But thankfully, he didn't need to worry about that now. No, he just needed to worry about whether or not Griffin or Fielding would take care of him for betraying Cordone again. And he had no doubt that he would try something. As if knowing what the younger man was worrying about, the police sergeant, leaned forward. "I'm not going to let anything happen to you, but I need to know everything that's happened," he emphasized. Matt blew out a breath and nodded.

"Cordone's still calling the shots. People like Fielding and Captain Griffin are still reporting to him. Fielding was always his favorite, mainly because he was always looking for his approval. But Griffin, he was just a special kind of nasty," he stated. "He likes the fact that he can hurt us and get away with it. That no will believe us," he continued. Why did Hank think that he had kept quiet for so long? There was no way he would ever believe him. Not over a fellow officer.

"I believe you, Matty," Hank responded. Damn, how could I have missed this? he wondered. He couldn't believe that he had missed what Griffin was doing. Then again, he had just been focused on getting Matty clean and back in school.

"So what happens now?"

"I catch these bastards and make sure they can't hurt anyone else." The firefighter nodded at the older man's declaration. Yeah, that sounded good. If Hank could catch Griffin and Fielding and put them away, that would be good. But to be honest, he wasn't sure if it could be done. Hank didn't know Griffin like he did. Hell, he had just basically signed his own death warrant by telling the sergeant about the police captain. But to be honest, a part of him just didn't care. He was sick of this crap and just wanted it to be over one way or the other. Was that really so much to ask?

"What if he comes after me again? There's no doubt that he will."

"You'll stay with me. Your girl too if you want." Immediately, the firefighter shook his head.

"She doesn't know about this. No one does. I can't let them find out." Hearing this, the police sergeant let out a sigh and grabbed the younger man's chin in a fatherly fashion, forcing him to look him in the eyes.

"This isn't your fault. None of it is. And they need to know. Don't keep this all bottled up." Matt nodded. Intellectually, he knew that Hank was right, but there was still a part of him that was scared as Hell that if he told, Cordone would retaliate. And that was the side of that kept him saying anything. But maybe he should risk it. Hank wouldn't ever let anything happen to him and they needed to know everything.

"You're right. A part of me is still afraid though." At this, Hank took a hand and squeezed it gently. He couldn't fault him for that as he knew just what kind of a life the firefighter had had. And it hadn't been all that pretty. No, in fact, it had been Hell for him. "You sure you can keep Gabby, Christie, Jeff, and Violet safe?"

"I promise." He wouldn't let anything happened to Matty's girl or his family. No, he was going to show Griffin just what happened when people screwed with the people that he cared about. Then, he would do the same with Cordone. Like he had told the younger man, he hadn't taken care of the man properly because he had been more concerned with getting the firefighter clean, but he would definitely rectify that mistake. He wasn't going to let Cordone continue to terrorize Matt and the other kids he had victimized. Whatever happened, he would make sure that this kind of crap never bothered Matty again. Out in the hallway, Christie paced, ignoring the stares that she was getting from her husband and the other firefighters. She didn't like this. She didn't like that Matt wasn't trusting her. She was his older sister, he should trust over anyone, especially Voight. But then again, for some reason, he had always been blind when it came to the older man.

"Babe, are you okay?" Jim questioned and Christie let out a breath as she ran her fingers through her hair.

"I'm worried about Matt. He's not talking to me and he seems to be trusting in Sergeant Voight," she replied.

"And you don't trust him?"

"No. Not with everything I've heard about him."

"But if Matt trusts him, that has to mean something, right?" Christie's eyes flickered as her husband stepped closer. He had a point, but still, she couldn't shake the fact that her younger brother was hiding something from her and she couldn't figure out why. Didn't he realize that nothing he could tell her would ever turn her against him? She loved him no matter what and nothing would ever change that. She just wished that she could convince him of that. But so far, she wasn't having any luck. Meanwhile, Olinsky, Antonio, and Ruzek had tracked Fielding to an apartment on the South side and were at his apartment. Once they were close enough, Ruzek knocked on the door, staying off to the side as Olinsky and Antonio did the same.

"David Fielding, open up! Chicago P.D.! We have a warrant for your arrest!" he called. For an answer, a loud bang reached their ears and they all jumped back as bullets whizzed through the wall.

"I don't think he's happy to see us," Antonio deadpanned before returning fire. Olinsky just shot him a look as the other two detectives also began shooting,

"Fielding! This isn't the way you want to go!" Ruzek shouted. Hell, this isn't the way I wanna go, he thought to himself. He just wanted to arrest this guy and get some answers as to what the hell was going on. It seemed like the Sarge knew but he wasn't talking. The only thing he could really tell for sure was that it somehow involved one of the firefighters over at Fifty-One but the older man wasn't saying how. Then, his train of thought was cut off as more shots were fired. Holy crap. What is this guy's deal? the young officer wondered. Why was he wanting to risk getting killed for one man? There was no way this guy was making it out of here alive. Especially with him surrounded like he was. Well, no matter. They would get this guy.

"Fielding! Give it up! It's over!" Olinsky shouted. For you anyway, he thought to himself. To be honest, he wasn't all that surprised that the guy was fighting back. In all of his years of being a cop, there had only been a few times when a take down like this had been peaceful. But just because he was used to it, didn't mean that he didn't find it any less annoying than the others did. Screw this, the older detective thought to himself and then kicked the door down, shooting as he did so. Seeing this, David quickly placed the gun down and held up his hands. Hey, if the cops were going to be this crazy, he wasn't going to risk getting killed. He'd let them arrest them and then Vince would get him released on bail just as he had done before. He was too valuable to the man not to take care of. Seeing this, Alvin walked up to him.

"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law…" As he mirandized the man, he put the handcuffs on him and lead him out as Antonio took his phone out and dialed Voight's number. In the hospital, Voight quickly answered his phone.

"Alvin, what's up?" he queried.

"We got the shooter," came the response and the sergeant froze.

"Hank?" Matt asked. "What is it?"

"You sure?" Voight asked.

"Yeah. We're bringing him now," Alvin replied.

"Thanks for letting me know," Voight said and hung up.

"What's going on, Hank?"

"We got Fielding. Alvin's bringing him in." Matt let out a sigh of relief. That was one thing taken care of-at least for now. But what about Manning and Cordone? He wasn't an idiot. He knew that there were a few was this could go for him: Cordone would get Fielding released so that he could finish the job, he would have Manning do it, or he would break out of jail and finish him off himself. None of those options were very appealing and he wasn't really looking forward to seeing which one would play out. "We got Fielding and it's only a matter of time before we get Manning too."

"Yeah." Matt's eyes clouded. How could Hank be so sure? Didn't he realize that Cordone was still calling the shots? As if sensing what the younger man was worried about, the police sergeant clasped his hand.

"Don't worry, Matty. I'll take care of everything," he assured and the firefighter nodded. He knew he could trust Voight to make this all go away. Hell, the guy had gotten him clean and that hadn't been such an easy task. He had been jonesing hard and had practically done everything and anything to try to fool the man so that he could score. However, Hank hadn't let him and for that, he was extremely grateful. But what about now? What could he do about all the crap that was happening now? Could he really let it all go?

"What if-what if they hate me for this, Hank? What if they think I'm too dirty? What if she thinks it?"

"They won't." Hank didn't have to ask about the "she" that Matt had emphasized. He was obviously afraid of losing his girl. Which was ridiculous of course but of course he wouldn't think that. Cordone had drilled it into his head that he was only good for a couple of things-neither of them good. Matt nodded. Maybe he could tell them. It was about time he let go, right? Well, he'd worry about that later. Right now, he needed to get out of here.

"When can-when can I get out of here?" he queried.

"They'll want to keep you, just to make sure that there's no infections," the older man responded, which resulted in a sigh. In the hall, Jim had convinced Christie to sit down and Kelly stared at the floor, his eyes clouded. Come on, Matt. Talk to us. We can help, he thought. He wasn't sure why his friend was so afraid to tell them what was going on, but he instinctively knew that it hadn't been some random shooting. Could it be connected with the pictures that he had found? And was his theory right? Did Matt have something to do with the box of photos that had been found? And if so, were they connected to the shooting? Damn, he hoped not. He didn't want one of his best friends having to be dealing with that crap. But how was he going to bring it up? If this was something he had been trying to hide, he would probably try to dodge the question. Noticing the expression on his face, Shay nudged him.

"You okay?" she asked quietly.

"I was just thinking…what if this is related to what we were talking about before? I mean, he was pretty cagey about what had happened," he murmured.

"Yeah," she murmured, reaching over to squeeze his hand. She couldn't blame him for being worried about Matt. She was too. This is crazy. I'm going to check on him, he thought to himself. Voight had been in there for ages. Surely enough time had passed for them to talk about whatever it was that the sergeant wanted to talk to him about. Seeing her lieutenant on the move, Gabby stood up and started to follow him.

"Stay here, Dawson. I'll let you know what's up," he assured.

"But-"

"I know, Dawson. I'm worried too. I'll get to the bottom of this." Hearing the tone and watching the body language, Gabby nodded and sat back down. Kelly was in leader mode and it wouldn't do her any good to argue further. Kelly headed for the hospital room, slowing when he heard Matt speaking again.

"I don't-I don't know if I can do this, Hank." What's he talking about? Kelly wondered, concerned at his friend's panicked and broken tone. Did this have something to do with his theory?

"Matty, you gotta tell them."

"I've worked too long and hard. They'll never let me stay on Squad if they knew." At this, Kelly's brows furrowed in confusion. What's he mean by that? he wondered.

"None of it was your fault, you know that." At this, the firefighter sighed heavily.

"How can I tell them that I was a drugged up sex slave?" Kelly froze. What the-? Had he heard that right? Did Matt just admit that he had been abused? Oh damn. We were right, he thought to himself. Matt was connected with the case Voight was working on…
