EPISODE 11
THE FOLLOWING TAKES PLACE BETWEEN 9 PM AND 10 PM
SPLIT SCREENS
The scene opens with a shot of a misty dusk in the Appalachian Mountains. The screen then splits into four. Jack and Clay Guthrie are talking at the Nebo-3 mining complex close to the coal wash plant. The two F-16 fighter jets are flying against the darkening sky. A radar map shows the jets departing from National Guard Base Yeager and heading east toward Summersville.
NEBO-3 MINING COMPLEX
"Andy, I want you to keep me appraised of all movements outside the mine and the coal wash facility. I'm going to set my timer to ten minutes but check in with me at five minutes. We need to make sure we're out of the blast radius when the F-16s arrive and we'll need to mop up any hostiles that survive the airstrike."
"I'm coming with you," Rebekah says. "If there's any chance at all Kate's alive in there with her baby I ain't gonna just sit here and not to anything about it." Her twang becomes more pronounced as she gets agitated and emotional.
"No you're not, I'm going in alone," Jack insists sternly.
"The hell you are, Jack! We don't know how men Jones has in there and I think I've sufficiently proven myself today."
Clay speaks up. "I'm going with you, Jack. Reb, you need to stay back here with Andy, Chuck, and Travis and make sure nobody leaves. Andy, you will keep me appraised of any changes in the situation outside the wash plant or the mine And that's final. Do you understand me, Reb?"
Rebekah looks like she wants to argue but gives in. "Fine. Y'all be careful."
CTU SOUTHEAST DIVISION
Melanie Andrews is looking at two cell phones hidden in her personal drawer. She looks nervous, getting a glance at Aaron Bailey, Chloe O'Brian and Chris Tanner to make sure none of them are acting suspicious toward her. She sees the map showing the position of the pair of F-16s which are now flying over the town of Clendenin about 25 miles northeast of Charleston. She quickly gets the phone she had been using to communicate with the terrorists with. She texts a text message to Randy.
COAL WASH PLANT, NEBO-3 MINING COMPLEX
A sound alerts Randy Jones to a text message. He and Marcus Wells are deep inside the bowels of the coal wash plant which processes the coal before it is loaded onto the trains.
"How the hell did this happen?" Randy shouts looking at his text message. "Marcus, how much longer?"
Marcus looks up from checking the detonator device in a control room that operated the giant coal stacker equipment and conveyor belt where coal sampling takes place. "Six or seven minutes to be safe."
"We may not have that much time. I don't know how but they're onto us. Must be Jack Bauer, but there are two National Guard fighters on their way here as we speak. Their orders are to wipe this entire facility off the map."
Marcus looks at him solemnly. "Ever since we planned this day, we knew something like this could happen. I'm as ready as you are. Just glad we're about to take as many people to hell with us as possible. We'll show mainstream America this is the price for injustice."
Randy hugs his comrade with a look on his face that shows he accepts their fate. "Do what you can to speed up the process and trigger the explosion. I'm going to head into the mine. If I'm still alive in fifteen minutes, I'm going to manually trigger the detonation. We're heroes, Marcus. I don't know how history will judge us, but this is a day Americans will learn about for generations to come. One day, they'll understand there was no other way."
Randy takes a team of followers and walks down the metal lined corridor leading out toward the conveyor belt next to a towering pile next to a large empty expanse that had towers of black coal when the mine had been operational. Now the place looks deserted.
SPLIT SCREENS
Randy is heading toward the mine. Marcus is checking on the detonator and typing more codes into the electronic device attached to it. Jack and Clay put on their night vision goggles and approach the main structures at the coal wash plant. An air traffic controller at the National Guard base is tracking the fighter jets on radar. The jets are now at the halfway mark of their flight to Summersville.
COAL WASH PLANT
"Clay, the range of the heartbeat sensor is limited to fifty feet so we got a large area to cover quick. Looks like most of the hostiles are on the east side of the facility, use our night vision to our advantage, approach from the south, take out as many hostiles silently as possible."
"I got it, Jack. We have eight minutes according to this timer."
"Kate should be far enough in her pregnancy where the fetal heartbeat can be detected so be on the lookout. If she's held in there, she's going to be under heavy guard."
Jack and Clay stop and hide behind a coal conveyer belt by a coal sampling station which is in a small structure. Jack motions for Clay to clear the structure of any hostiles. Clay goes in and sees three hostiles inside the single story industrial shack. He fires his silenced Uzi submachine gun and both men quickly slump over dead. "Clear."
Jack nods and they both go in, scanning the area again with their night vision goggles. Together they take out six more men. Jack sees two men at the top of the tall main building. "We need to take them out simultaneously."
Clay nods and they both fire silenced shots, killing the two, one of the bodies falling down. Jack's phone rings. It's Chloe.
"Dammit Chloe what is it?" Jack asks stressfully.
CTU SOUTHEAST DIVISION
Chloe is looking at her computer screen adding the resolution to an image. She turns to Tanner. "Just run the protocol I told you about and do it quickly!" she snaps.
"Jack the CTU drone overflew the site again, we picked up three vehicles approaching the mine entrance. We believe Jones might be in there."
"Might be? We're engaging Jones's men now in the coal preparation facility adjacent to the mine. The detonator should be in here that's why they set up a station."
"They were trying to do it remotely from a safe distance until you crashed their party." Chloe pauses and looks at the resolution. "We have a 98% match, Jones is now entering the mine itself it must be a backup. He must have a way to detonate the charges manually if his man in the facility fails."
"How the hell did Jones know we were here? CTU needs to be on lockdown, we need to know who and where the leak is."
"I know just focus on stopping this attack or else you won't get to find out!" Chloe snaps.
"Alright, thank you Chloe. Son of a bitch!" Jack curses.
NATIONAL GUARD BASE TOWER
"Yeager tower, this is Flight Leader for final check-in. We are now three minutes from target. We should have a video confirmation and radar lock on the target soon."
"Copy, proceed as planned."
We see an aerial shot from behind as the two jets race across the now completely dark sky with a smattering of lights from small towns visible below. The lead pilot checks his radar again. "All weapons systems are armed and ready to go."
COAL WASH PLANT
"I don't see anyone," Jack hears a terrorist talk into the radio. "Dammit, nobody outside's checking in but this entire area is clear. Is Randy sure about this?"
Jack and Clay open a door and go into a brightly lit hallway. They see one of the union thugs with his back turned toward them. The hostile turns around and Jack takes him down. Another door opens and a hostile steps out. This man is able to squeeze off a round into the ceiling as Clay shoots him through the chest. Suddenly there is shouting.
"We have two minutes left and we still don't…"
Clay operates the heartbeat sensor again. "We're deep inside enough to scan the entire building. I'm not getting a double heartbeat. She's not here."
"Okay, let's get the hell out of here!"
SPLIT SCREENS
Heller and Audrey are looking at the screen in the White House Situation Room showing the flight path and listening in on the communications between the pilots and their control tower. Jack and Clay engage several hostiles on their way out. Randy and several hostiles are now entering the mine shaft. Melanie is staring straight ahead at CTU. One of the screens is replaced by Marcus cursing as he fails to detonate the explosives in the mine on time.
NEBO-3 COMPLEX
Several machine guns open up on Jack and Clay as they dash across the open ground toward the tree line and toward the hills. Jack shoots down two terrorists. Then the hostiles' attention is distracted by the loud sound of the fighter jets overhead. There are now more than a dozen armed terrorists on the conveyor system and in the windows of the coal wash plant looking at the sky and firing their weapons.
"We have a lock on target," the flight leader radios, "Ready to engage…fire…..missile away…..fire two…..fire three….."
His wingman does the same. Six high powered air to surface missiles are fired from the jets. There is a loud boom as the warheads are released and as the jets make a sudden turn to the southeast. We see a glimpse of Marcus and several terrorists around them as they are all swallowed up by a wall of flame. A giant fireball rises over 100 feet into the sky as gigantic explosions tear every structure in the coal facility off its foundations. Metal shatters like broken glass. Vehicles are tossed dozens of feet into the air. More than a dozen of the hostiles run around ablaze. The force slow Rebekah and Jack backward into a hillside, Rebekah looking dazed but not seriously hurt but the impact. Some fuel tanks then detonate. The entire area shakes for several seconds from the force of the blast.
MYRTLE BEACH CONVENTION CENTER- DEMOCRAT NATIONAL CONVENTION
Natalie Manchetti and Joseph O'Malley have a conspiratorial look on their faces.
"You're sure this will be done tonight?" Manchetti asks.
O'Malley nods. "Again with our quorum, we don't need a single Republican vote to remove Heller from office. My people are working on the Black Caucus and the rural Democrats as we speak. They can still vote remotely from Washington or from home."
"I wish the coalition was more firm," Manchetti says. "If only this country had grown enlightened before everything Allison Taylor did. We would have been able to do this a lot more easily."
"As expected there's a lot of resistance from John Rezierski and many of the blue dog Democrats from the Southern and Midwestern states as well as rural districts nationwide. I only hope our threats of withholding infrastructural funding is working," says O'Malley.
A cold smile comes to Manchetti's lips. "They'll come around. Money always talks, you'll see. I'm comfortable holding the vote in less than thirty minutes to remove Heller from office. I think we've discussed all we can and made our point about his conduct today quite clear."
UNDERGROUND MINE /WHITE HOUSE
Several rocks fall down from the force of the missile attack but the mine does not seem to be in danger of caving in. Randy's phone rings again the number Jack had called from, one of the dead union thugs Jack had killed.
"It's too late, Jack," Randy taunts he and his men make their way deeper into the mine.
"Mr. Jones, this is President Heller," the President says from the White House. "You were patched through directly to me. I know you are planning to demolish Mount Nebo and flood the Kanawha Valley. You have my attention. What is it that you want?"
"What an honor, the President of the United States! The leader of the free world himself, the hero of Wembley Stadium. You finally reach out to me now?" Randy says sarcastically into the phone. "You know, I tried to reach out to you, to other in the government who were supposed to be working for me. It's never been about us little people though, right, Mr. President?"
"Mr. Jones….Randy, I implore you to reconsider what you are doing. We must be able to reach some sort of agreement. I have to admit, Randy, you've backed me into a corner and left me with no alternative options that I know of. My office is prepared to allow you free passage out of the country if you abort this attack."
Randy acts like he did not hear Heller and continues. "When we reached out to the feds, to the state about our safety issues, about our health, about the poverty in our communities, about our basic societal rights, you just slapped us away. We don't have the financial clout that people like Clay Guthrie and Omega have with their lobbyists and campaign contributions. My sons and 29 others died and nobody, NOBODY was held accountable. Not by the state of West Virginia, not by the US federal government! Nobody went to prison, nobody even went bankrupt. When state troopers murdered my wife, it was blamed on her medical conditions. There were some phony show hearings, and everything was swept under the rug. "
"Randy, there is nothing that can be done out to undo whatever wrongs you and your family perceive to have suffered. Tens of thousands of our fellow Americans, innocent men, women, and children will perish if you go through with this attack. Please, you don't have to do this."
"Yes, Mr. President, I do have to do this. You just proved me right. Now you have my attention, now you care about the plight of those of us that you and the corporations that run the system simply consider expendable. And don't lecture me on innocent people, people who vote the likes of you into office and live in their little bubble, caring more about the Mountaineers winning their next game than about the abuses and hopelessness that their fellow citizens live with every day. I made them care, Mr. President. I made you care. You should have listened to me when we first reached out to you. It's too late now, James Heller." Randy disconnects the call and shoots the phone.
Gunfire suddenly erupts and the four men with Randy turn around. One man is cut down immediately by gunfire as we see that Jack, Andy, and Clay have infiltrated the mine along with Travis and Chuck. All over the mine, Randy's men are engaged in gun battles with members of Jack's team. Randy takes the detonator and retreats further into the mine. "I'm going after Jones! Take out all the other hostiles!" Jack orders. In a split screen, Rebekah is outside communicating with CTU and watching the flames and smoke from the destruction of the coal wash plant.
CTU
"Yes," Rebekah replies as Chloe and Tanner listen in. "We believe the remote detonator is destroyed and most of Jones's men were killed in the airstrike, but he and a small group of union radicals retreated into the underground mine to detonate the explosives manually. Jack, my father, Andy and two civilians are in pursuit."
"Two civilians?" Melanie remarks to the staff.
Bailey also looks very shocked. "So this is Jack's entire team," he says indignantly. "Guthrie, his daughter and her boyfriend, and now some random hillbillies?"
"They've done far more than we have!" Chloe shouts angrily. "You should have some more respect for our fellow Americans who know how to take care of themselves! And it's not Jack's fault there is a leak which nobody is addressing apparently. If I was in Jack's position I wouldn't trust us, certainly not Melanie! She sounds an awful lot like Randy Jones sometimes."
"You are WAY out of line!" Melanie nearly screams nastily. "Just because I'm a progressive person, just because I have a different worldview, just because I don't agree with this insane level of individualism and vigilantism doesn't give you a reason to make these insinuations. Go ahead, Aaron, check me out, check all of us!" Melanie had already switched the Sim card and her phone is now clean.
"Yes I WILL get the bottom of this!" Bailey hollers. "I know it's been an exceedingly stressful day. The worst day in all my years at CTU but we need to remain calm and professional. And yes I have been scrutinizing each and every one of you today and have been in constant, direct communications with the White House. I don't like Jack's little operations any more than you do, and I'm certainly not happy with Heller allowing him to do that. Heck maybe Heller has been missing some doses of his medication, " Chloe looks disgusted at this comment as Bailey continues, "But we will support that per our direct orders. Now all of you get back to work!"
There was silence for a while. Then Tanner speaks up. "I'll have the drones do another overfly, make sure all the targets are down."
Bailey nods. "Yes, do that. Continue to provide air support we only have limited weapons capability, not like that fireworks show we just saw, but make sure no hostiles get past the site."
SPLIT SCREENS
The split screens show Jack making his way through the mine, and Clay, Andy, Chuck, and Travis all engaged in different firefights with Randy's men. We see Chuck and Travis ambush a terrorist patrol and shoot them down after a quick exchange of gunfire.
NEBO-3 COMPLEX, UNDERGROUND MINE
Randy fires his assault rifle at Jack, the muzzle flashing through the dark of the underground mine. Jack takes cover behind an old coal car as the bullets hit the walls around him. Jack climbs into the coal car on the underground tracks and fires, several bullets whizzing close to Randy. His opponent returns fire and Jack is forced to curl up inside the car. Randy throws a grenade in his direction but Jack shoots the grenade in midair, taking cover in a small opening away from the tunnel. There is an explosion and the coal car is now a hulk of twisted metal. Randy continues to make his way deeper in as the firefight continues. Andy kills two men with a grenade and Chuck and Travis take turns reloading and firing, killing three terrorists. All the remaining hostiles are committed to die and fight back ferociously buying more time for their leader.
Randy finally retreats into a cavern deep beneath the mountain that is illuminated by industrial style lightning and housing some coal excavation equipment and vehicles in addition to the large concentration of chemicals. The trucks that brought in the explosives and chemicals are also here. Randy steps out from behind a truck and fires several rounds at Jack. One of them hits Jack in the chest and he flies back.
"You're a special breed of crazy and stupid, you know that Jack?" Randy shouts at Jack as he charges over. Jack reaches for his gun through the pain from being struck in his bulletproof vest. Randy fires again. Jack uses his pistol and manages to wound Randy in the arm but Randy still comes and fires another long burst, shattering a pipe and hose and sending corrosive chemicals leaking out over the floor.
"Even after everything you've been through you still serve them Jack? You could have joined me. We could have done great things together but no! They people you serve, they'll toss you aside like a rusty old wrench the moment you've served your purpose while your life is ruined! How many times have you been thrown under the bus? When will you realize they never cared about you, that for all your loyalty abandon you when it's convenient? Even Tony Almeida realized it! They took your wife from you, that virus probably messed up your body in ways nobody even knows, your daughter and your granddaughter live in fear every day, Renee Walker is dead, Chloe O'Brian's husband and child are all dead because of you, Jack!"
Jack is very enraged and opens fire from a new position but Randy ducks. Randy then reloads and sprays the area with bullets but Jack has already moved away. Jack fires another shot and hits Randy's assault rifle and knocks it away but misses Randy himself. Randy is now at the detonator preparing to trigger the demolition of the mountain. Jack charges forward firing but Randy tosses a throwing knife which embeds in Jack's shoulder. Jack screams in pain as he stops charging and falls to the floor.
Jack rips the knife out of his shoulder and rushes Randy, the two men grappling and attacking each other. "You think you know me, you son of a bitch. If you really did, you wouldn't have crossed paths with me today. Once you found out I was here you would have slithered back into your lair like a slimy little snake."
Randy knees Jack in the stomach then backfists him, knocking him backward against a tanker truck. Jack does a somersault and hits Randy in the face and head, knocking him down but Randy is upon him again. Jack blows several blows and punches him twice in the solar plexus, his opponent grunting in pain but still coming back unfazed. Both their faces are now bloody from the fighting. Randy manages to punch Jack in the throat, then slams him into a truck door. Randy opens the door of the truck and slams it hard on Jack's head several times. Jack is still conscious but Randy goes back to the detonator especially as he hears the gunfire approaching. He does not think Jack is a threat anymore.
"You know Jack, now it's safe to tell you that you're going to die not having really prevented anything. You know this, all this is but a fraction of what's planned. Jack, this day is not over!"
Jack slides across the ground and swipes Randy off his feet then kicks him hard. Randy goes across the floor of the cavern and into the expanding puddle of corrosive chemicals spreading from the damaged hose. He screams in pain as the chemicals eat into his skin. Jack gets up and walks over to Randy as he rolls around in pain. Jack puts his foot on Randy's throat. "It is for you, asshole." Jack then steps on his throat hard, breaking Randy's neck.
Several more terrorists approach Jack from the main part of the mine but there is a blaze of gunfire and they all go down. Andy and Chuck are the first ones to reach Jack's position. Clay and Travis follow soon.
MINE EXTERIOR
"I see the three vehicles still approaching off the main road," Rebekah radios Pennington.
Major Pennington confirms it and the National Guard helicopters fly low. The terrorists from the backup vehicles open up but the helicopters strafe the entire area with gunfire. All are killed within seconds. "We're clear up here."
Rebekah emerges from her concealed position as the military helicopters land on an empty part of the facility grounds amid the smoldering ruins and raging flames behind. Police sirens can also be heard approaching from a distance.
UNDERGROUND MINE
"We got all them sons of bitches," Chuck says proudly.
"Whew, I take it as a good sign we're still here," Andy says, nodding at Randy's dead body and the detonator still intact.
Jack has an exhausted look but replies, "We still got work to do. Kate's still missing and this might not be over yet."
"Yeah I should have stayed away from you, Jack," Andy comments, "Your bad days are contagious."
WHITE HOUSE PRESS ROOM
There are crowds of reporters clamoring for attention in the White House press room as President Heller enters. The reporters' cameras go off nonstop.
"Mr. President do we have another crisis on our hands?" a TV reporter asks.
"Is it true you are actually tendering your resignation for real this time?" demands an MSNBC reporter rudely.
"Sir, we heard rumors that….." But Heller ignores all of them and walks up to the podium with the logo of the White House behind him and the presidential seal in front.
"I have a prepared a brief statement and we will not be taking any questions," Heller says with finality to the news reporters and journalists gathered in the room for the last minute press conference.
SPLIT SCREENS
Heller speaks. Jack and his team are reuniting with Rebekah. O'Malley and Manchetti are watching the press conference. Special analysts are analyzing all of the personal and work cell phones of the CTU staff and technicians are going around the computers trying to find out who the mole is.
WHITE HOUSE PRESS ROOM
"My fellow Americans," Heller says, "This is only going to be a brief statement on a critical situation that has been resolved. Throughout the past few years, our country has faced many threats that have not been made public. These have been addressed by the courageous men and women of agencies like CTU but recent concerns and accusations from the Democrat Party regarding my actions todays have compelled me to reveal the true nature of today's events.
"Less than twenty minutes ago, under my orders, a squad of F-16 fighter jets from the West Virginia Air National Guard conducted an airstrike on an abandoned coal mining facility in outside Summersville, West Virginia. This was a necessary action conducted to foil what would have been the deadliest terrorist attack in the history of the United States. As God is my witness, I swear to you, my fellow Americans, that this attack has been averted and the threat has been completely neutralized. We have withheld this information for two hours pending unnecessary panic, as we have withheld several operational details in past counter-terrorist operations as well.
MYRTLE BEACH CONVENTION CENTER
"I'll be damned!" O'Malley comments, turning up the volume on the large TV and projecting President Heller's appearance onto the main screen on the large convention stage. The room is stunned into silence.
Heller continues with confidence, "Private security contractors operating under my authority and supervision discovered that Randy Jones, the left wing terrorist responsible for today's earlier attacks, had stolen a large batch of industrial grade explosives, chemicals, and detonators from an Omega Appalachian Resources storage area and had planned to flood the city of Charleston, West Virginia and the entire Kanawha River Valley, the state's most densely populated area, by demolishing a mountain range separating it from Summersville Lake. Here is a recording of a conversation I personally had with Randy Jones."
WHITE HOUSE PRESS ROOM
Heller plays the conversation where Jack's name is not mentioned. There is still silence in the room. Heller then speaks again. "Pending the time-sensitive nature of the attack, I authorized an emergency air combat mission to destroy the site from which Jones was launching the attack. They were assisted by teams of personnel on the ground. Together, they successfully completed their mission. Randy Jones and all of his men are dead. We will make more details available in upcoming days as the situation allows but once again I reiterate that the terrorist threat to West Virginia has been neutralized. Neither I nor any member of my staff will take any questions, but I would ask for all my fellow Americans to join me in remembering all of the innocent men, women, and children who lost their lives today, and to pray for the people of West Virginia and Kentucky as they recover from the tremendous tragedies they have suffered today. Good night, and may God bless America."
The media ignores his statement refusing any questions and ask anyway but Heller, Audrey, and all their other staff leave the room and Secret Service agents begin ushering the media out.
MYRTLE BEACH CONVENTION CENTER
A Democrat Senator speaks up. "In light of this announcement, I feel it is prudent for us to end these impeachment proceedings."
"This is an outrage! We don't even know if this is true! He's buying himself more time!" Manchetti screams. Both her and Joseph O'Malley are livid. "As he demonstrated with his fake stunt at Wembley Stadium there are no levels James Heller won't stoop down too for the sake of his career!"
"He's going to be a hero, at least for now," another Democrat Senator says. "You know we all want Heller out of the White House, but I don't think we want to risk the political blowback here. My district in Pennsylvania still has many traditional blue collar American voters. I don't come from New Jersey. My base is different than your urban, yuppie, and illegal alien mix. This will negatively affect our party in the long run. I'm sure of it."
"We still have the means and the power to take control," Manchetti says.
At this, John Rezierski, the Democrat from southern West Virginia stands up. "This is unacceptable." He starts to leave the room.
"What the hell are you doing?" she snarls nastily.
"I've decided under you and the new leadership, this party no longer shares the values of myself of my constituents.
"Sit down, boy!" Manchetti screams. "You dare turn your back on me again, I swear your constituents will pay the price..."
"You've threatened me enough times, Natalie. I don't answer to you. I answer to the people who elected me. You just lost your majority in the House." He continues and leaves the room.
O'Malley shakes his head. "We don't have to rush it, Natalie. We will collect more dirt on Heller and his family, and on Audrey's boyfriend Jack Bauer. He alone is a treasure trove of controversy, he's even appeared before a Senate subcommittee before for torturing suspects. You know how much I despise Heller and what he represents, and my desire to destroy him for the sake of our party has not faltered. However I must agree that right now might not be the best time in light of tonight's events. And besides, he just justified his actions to the American public."
Manchetti has a defeated look on her face and becomes silent. She finally nods. "He survived this time. He won't again. You can slow down change, but you can't stop it."
CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA
Mandy is in a high-tech control room with computers everywhere. It looks like a mini-CTU. There are several other technicians and other personnel around her. Her phone rings. The screen splits and we see Congresswoman Manchetti alone in a stairwell speaking into her phone too.
"I can't believe Heller. And of course people will think he's a hero again," Mandy says.
"I agree," Manchetti replies. "I had hoped that maybe we caught a lucky break with the impeachment move. That could have set our desired agenda for at least the next three years as we legitimized the change we brought. I had hoped the full scale of our operation wouldn't be necessary. Unfortunately I was wrong. What's worse, John Rezierski defected to Heller's camp. He's going to call a press conference announcing his decision to join the GOP. Are you still ready to carry out the original plan?"
Mandy paces around the room. "Of course. All my assets are in play and Melanie will be cooperative as long as my people have her children. Even if CTU discovers Melanie's the mole it won't be enough to stop us. Most of my sleeper teams across the country are ready to move on my orders."
"Are you sure there will be no hesitation among them? Randy Jones failed, but he was willing to go the distance. That's why we chose him to do the demonstration."
"All of my agents are willing to do what it takes. In fact most of them beg to be activated. We've waited too long for this day to come. When I was a mercenary, I didn't understand this level of commitment, I thought they were zealots. But after I went to Berkeley I discovered a purpose, my power to make a difference in the world. This is not about money, it's about belief. We are ready," Mandy tells her passionately.
"Good," Manchetti smiles as she finishes up the call, "Activate three additional teams now in different parts of the country and use your secure connection to contact the White House and Congress with our demands. The day is still young, Mandy."
Mandy smiles evilly. "It is indeed."
…9:58…9:59….10 PM.
