Karin sat outside under the light of the setting moon. Her heart ached as she replayed the sight of the love of her life leaving into the dawn, and into the dangerous world she feared would claim is life.

"He's strong. He'll live. He has to come back for you, you know." She told herself out loud. Can she convince herself that he will come back?

"Don't doubt yourself Karin. You're absolutely right." She heard his voice calling out from behind.

She jumped in surprise, she thought she was alone. Turning around to look, she caught Jiro's gaze. He smiled sadly at her as he stood feet away with his arms crossed.

"I'm so embarrassed." She smiled, wiping away stray tears and getting to her feet. She walked over to Jiro and lay a hand on his crossed arms.

"Thanks for trying to reassure me. I need someone to tell me it's okay, besides myself you know..." She looked down trying to fight back returning tears.

Jiro untangled his arms and wrapped them around her small figure, bringing her into a tight embrace. "You beat yourself up by thinking of the worst. You know he's strong. His need to see you again in his arms is going to push him to survive and come back to you." He wanted to see her smile. He liked being around her, but seeing her like this was excruciating. Forgetting his jealousy and comforting her was all he could do for now.

Karin smiled into his chest. A feeling of relief washed over her as his words registered in her mind. Jiro's warm embrace was so reassuring and relaxing. She wanted to stay that way and feel sure of a good outcome to this.

Jiro took in her sweet scent and ran his hands through her hair in a gentle caring way. Not really wanting to, he pulled away from her and met her gentle sad gaze. "Until then, I will be there for you and I will protect you."

Karin smiled looking down at her fidgeting hands. "You don't have to. I don't want to be your burden."

Jiro pulled her face back up to meet his eyes and smiled a loving smile that made her blush. "I want to." He said in a low voice. A chill crept up her spine and she shook it off by stepping back a bit. Jiro's sudden bravery vanished in that moment and he turned away, embarrassed.

"I'm sorry. I don't mean to be weird or anything. I just care about you. I hate to see you upset." He let out without thinking.

Karin smiled and put a hand on his shoulder from behind him. "Don't be sorry. I appreciate your concern. You're an amazing friend Jiro."

Jiro dared not to turn and look her in the eye again. He smiled, defeated as he heard her say those words. 'just a friend huh...?' He thought to himself. "You're an amazing friend as well Karin. That's why I want to protect you."

The sun began to rise and the moon was at the edge of disappearance. The two began to walk back to the temple when suddenly they ran into an unknown body beyond the rising fog.

"Well, hello there." A woman's voice traveled through the air.

"Who are you? Show yourself before we attack!" Jiro called out.

He felt a tug at his haori and looked back to see Karin's angered face. "I know this voice."

"I'll give you a hint." She said and let out a soft laugh. They began to notice a light and jumped out of the way realizing the spears of light that confirmed Karin's fears.

"It's Amaya." Karin let out.

Suddenly a flash before her eyes and in a second, she stood before her with a menacing smile on her face. "Good guess." She said in a soft and evil filled tone.

Karin let out a gasp at her lightning speed. When did she get so fast?

"Karin!" Jiro launched himself toward them and held out a hand at Amaya releasing an orb of demonic power pushing her back from Karin.

The blast of energy broke her metal armor she had to protect her chest, and the spot where she held her precious jewel. She looked down making sure her body was not harmed and turned back an angry look at Jiro.

"Why you little brat! You almost got me! My armor! You know what I had to go through to get this?" She yelled out in frustration.

"I can see her jewel, it's reachable. If I can get her." Karin whispered.

Jiro looked over at her. "Go get everyone. We can take her. I can hold her here." Karin said.

"No you won't! I'll do this. You go for your family." He protested.

Karin turned to him and smiled. "Please I can do this. It's my mess." She said and launched herself at Amaya.

"Karin no!" He yelled out.

"Fight me you bitch! Stop being a coward and give up that jewel!" Karin reached for her chest ready to rip through her to get the jewel. Amaya grabbed her wrist and laughed.

"Such a sloppy fighter. Just like your mutt father." She smiled, lifted Karin over her head and threw her with sheer force to the ground breaking the dry soil into small crater.

Jiro ran towards her and picked her head up and lay her on his lap. "Karin, you okay?"

She opened her eyes and saw the concerned look on Jiro's face. She sat up and rubbed her aching head. "I'm fine. Why haven't you gone?!"

"I can't leave you here alone. I told you I will protect you." He said. He looked over at Amaya and his eyes began to glow a white light.

"Hmm..What's this?" Amaya asked genuinely amused.

Jiro stood up and walked to stand in front of Karin, shielding her. "I really wish bullies like you would just all die."

"Why don't you try and kill me then, tough guy?" She laughed.

"Arrrgh!" He growled as he ran towards her. She put out her hand and released spears of light like before, but Jiro dodged them with ease as they came at him. He blasted her again with an orb of demonic power.

Amaya was blown to the ground knocking down some trees. His power seemed greater, much to Amaya's confusion and anger. She began to see a threat. "You must love this girl. Your power seemed to increase from before." She slowly got herself up and dusted herself.

Karin looked over at Jiro and he seemed too focused to notice anything. His eyes still glowed white. He finally looked over at her and nodded towards the temple, signaling her to go.

"Go." He said.

Karin nodded and got herself up and ran off in the direction of the temple. Amaya held her arm out in her direction and began to shoot out spears of light only to be pushed by Jiro, missing the girl completely.

"Don't look away from your opponent!"

Amaya stomped her foot as she landed, releasing lightning, entrapping Jiro in a wall of it. "Dodge this, you bastard."

"Aaagh." The pain of the shock waves running through his body brought him to his knees and he began to pass out.

Karin ran through the forest and got herself inside. Sora was walking into the lobby when she noticed the frightened look on her cousin's face.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"It's Amaya, she's here! Jiro is in danger!"

"Go get everyone. I'll go find him and help." Sora said and ran out of the building.

Sora ran through the forest, following the scent of Jiro. She could start to smell hints of blood coming and she sped up her pursuit.

As she ran, she began to make out a body in the distance and she stopped, realizing it wasn't her friend.

"Why in such a hurry?" A man's voice filtered through the air.

Sora pulled out her sword and stood ready to fight. "Show yourself!"

Just then, Kasai stepped out of the shadows and smiled at the single girl. "The daughter of the great dog lord Sesshomaru. I am lucky to have you here alone." A sinister smile formed on his face.

"I wouldn't say that." Sora said and swung her sword that shot a bolt of lightning towards Kasai.

It was no use as the strike was deflected right back at her and she nearly got out of the way. Kasai took out what seemed to be a small shard of the jewel. Sora stood shocked as the light of the jewel glowed a deep blood red.

"The fool Naraku had a good thing going. His only flaw was being tied down to things such as love and we all know love makes one careless. I on the other hand, I am as sharp as this jewel." He shot the jewel right at her and she felt the sharp pain as it dug through her flesh.

She began to feel the numbness take her over and she was brought to her knees. She dug her claws into the soil under her as if trying to grasp for any feeling of herself. She slowly rose her head to meet his dark gray eyes.

"What is this? What have you done?" She managed to let out.

"Cherish the moment girl, as you will become mine, and see to it that this beloved family of yours is slain by your hand." The last words registered in her mind and she began to fade away into the darkest areas of her own mind.

Karin awoke her family and comrades at the temple and they all now ran to find Sora and Jiro who were surely in battle with Amaya.

"We managed to break her armor that protected her half of the jewel. If we work together, I'm sure we can finish her." Karin explained to the group.

"I'm sure if it comes to that Kasai and Kagemaru will come to us to protect Amaya, or take the jewel after she's dead. We can kill them both at that moment." Inuyasha said.

They all turned to the crushing sound of the trees in the distance. "It must be Jiro and Sora!" Karin ran in their direction.

She suddenly got the weirdest sense of a jewel. It felt so dark to her it made her sick. She didn't understand why the darkness was more intense than before.

"Mom.." She called out only to be cut off.

"I know. I feel it. Inuyasha, this jewel has great evil within. I'm almost afraid to say more intense than that of which Naraku cast on the jewel years ago.." Kagome turned a concerned look at her husband.

Inuyasha let out a low growl. "Let's hurry."

They came to an opening and witnessed Amaya fighting off the duo.

"I see the jewel in her chest Inuyasha. I can probably shoot her and purify it and her." Kagome began to pull out an arrow.

"You can hit Sora or Jiro as well and hurt them." Inuyasha said.

Kagome frowned and lowered her bow. Amaya backed away from Jiro and Sora and shielded herself within an orb shaped barrier.

Karin walked over to Sora and got the strangest feeling from her aura, but she couldn't find what it was. "Hey."

Sora jumped not noticing she was there and smiled. "I'm glad you made it."

"Can you get me up close to her? If we get close enough we can probably break the barrier and with my mom's help, I can get to the jewel." She offered.

"Yeah, I can." Sora said with a monotone voice.

Karin noticed her aura changed, but she couldn't sense anything wrong with her. She shrugged it off and looked at Amaya.

"That bitch is going down. Let's do it."

Karin gave her comrades a nod and Inuyasha and Sesshomaru charged at Amaya, swords out in attempts to distract her.

"You're going down wench!" Inuyasha hollered out.

"Bahahaha! You loathsome dogs have worked my last nerve!" Amaya shot her spears towards them.

Karin climbed on to Sora's back and she swiftly charged up close to Amaya. Karin pointed her bow to her and released an arrow full of pure power.

The arrow hit her barrier and Karin began to see the ripples break down the barrier. Amaya turned around in horror as the energy shattered through her only protection and began to pierce the surface of her skin.

"No! This can't be!" She began to scream in pain and disbelief.

Kagome pulled out an arrow and shot it with all her willpower. The arrow pierced through her chest and hit the darkness of the jewel within her and she could see the power of her arrow purify the evil.

"Yes!" She hollered in amazement.

"She hit the jewel!" Karin called out to her comrades.

"Kasai, save me!" Amaya called out to no one. He did not intend to save her and she soon realized this was the end for her.

"Looks like he doesn't care for you anymore Amaya. It ends here." Inuyasha said in a victorious tone.

She looked at the group of people as she began to disintegrate into nothing. "I hope all of you rot in the pits of hell. Including that conniving traitor Kasai!" She yelled out before she was gone and the jewel fell to the ground before the group's eyes.

Sora let Karin down to the ground and walked over to the jewel to pick it up. "This cannot be in the hands of any weak demon with greed in his soul." She said almost to herself.

"You okay Sora?" Karin asked with concern as to why Sora had been acting strange since before the fight.

Sora looked up at her and smiled. "Yes, I will be fine."

Sesshomaru suddenly appeared before her and grabbed her wrist which held the jewel. "Drop it." He murmured.

"Father? What has come over you?" She asked almost teasing him.

Kagura stepped up to them. "Sesshomaru, what are you doing?" She could sense his rising anger, but didn't understand why it was targeted at their daughter.

"She's being persuaded by a dark power." He looked towards Kagome in anger.

"Can you not sense it priestess?!"

Kagome shuttered at his tone and expression. "I'm sorry."

Karin walked to Sora and looked her in the eye. "Sora?"

Sora smiled and jumped away from the group of friends. "Good senses father. Kasai knew he wouldn't be able to fool you."

"Kasai, I know you can hear me you pathetic insect. Come out and fight me." He said with a low growl in his voice. His eyes began to turn red and the marks on his face intensified.

"Lord Kasai knew I'd be the one to slay you pathetic group of so called heroes." She pierced her own flesh pushing in the jewel within herself and the dark power manifested itself in her body. A adamant like shield grew from her flesh covering the area where the jewel rested within her.

"She took the jewel!" Kagome gasped.

Sesshomaru caught her once more and pushed her down to the ground. "Sora fight it! You will not be influenced by the likes of him! Fight it!"

Sora's eyes turned a ominous black and her fangs bared at her flesh and blood as she laughed in his face. "What's the matter Sesshomaru? Have I reached your limits?"

Sesshomaru's eyes widened and a sharp pain began to spread through his abdomen. He looked down to see Sora's hand pushing through him like a hot knife. She impaled him all the way through and the blood began to pool around them.

"No!" Kagura ran over finally giving in and pushed Sesshomaru away from Sora and further harm.

Sora picked herself up and smiled at her mother with a crazed look in her eyes. Her body covered in Sesshomaru's blood, she looked down at herself and out a pleased chuckle. "Give up. It's you or me. Kill me before I slay all of you. The lord will be pleased."

A orb formed around her and she flew off into the sky. Kagura hated to see her go, but she did not want to harm her daughter. She just hoped Kasai wouldn't. She turned to Sesshomaru who sat on his knees taking jagged breaths in and the look on his face was devastating.

"Sesshomaru..." She began. Tears pooled the wind sorceress' eyes as she saw her love wounded and by none other than her daughter, who was gone and out of reach.

Sesshomaru looked up at her and the anger grew immensely within him. "Don't!...I'm fine. I will heal, and I will go for her." He looked back towards Karin and their eyes met.

"We will go to the north mountains with your wolf comrades. We will regroup and we will finish what began." Everyone gasped at the words that came out of the Dog lord's mouth. They began to realize how bleak the situation looked. The great dog lord Sesshomaru was asking for help.
