Wanderlust courses through my veins,

I'll ride that midnight train. Attempting to get rid of the pain that drives me insane.

" You walk like a duck," Hotaru hits the back of my knees with the whip, emitting a small shriek from me,

" Sway your hips slightly, That's much better." She finally praises me and I begin to relax,

" Now it's time for speech lessons."

I fall into a nearby chair, closing my eyes for a split second before the click of an opening the door forces them back open to gaze upon Mr. Narumi form entering,

" I've been told to escort Mikan to meet up with Aoi, will you let me borrow her?" Hotaru nods slightly with narrowed eyes directed towards Narumi as I walk over to him,

" Why does she need me?" I ask as we walk down the hall; he doesn't respond, instead he turns to me once we walk down a dark side corridor,

" I say this now; Aoi didn't call for you." I freeze and attempt to take a step back but he grasps my arm,

" I need to tell you something," His violet eyes are ringed with the telltale signs of an apparent lack of sleep,

" Queen Kaoru plans to send you to the war fronts soon, when your there don't trust anyone. He get's closer, I hear his breath echo across the mostly empty hall,

" Not even your fellow soldiers, do you understand?"

I shake my head, " I don't understand-" A muffled voice clammers through the hallway and Narumi lets go of my arm,

" You don't need to understand yet, remember to always have your guard up." He turns a corner and I'm left by myself,

" He's correct you know..." The voice echo's around my head, " Never trust any of them... Your mother once made that mistake..."

My eyes widen, " Mother? I have no knowledge of ever having a mother," I run my hand down my arm and caress my wrist, feeling the pulse ring throughout my body,

" Exactly, no mother you have any recollection of; Father neither, I suppose, though he doesn't matter anymore..." I frown,

" I've got no reason to trust nor believe the words you say; I've said it before, your no goddess of mine." A chuckle rings out and I scowl,

" You'll come around eventually, a goddess has her ways after all..."

I thrust the head of the spear through the left hand side of the straw mans head and withdraw angrily to stab him yet again in his abdomen,

" That was a bit violent," A teasing voice fills the courtyard accompanied with laughter, Tsubasa and Tono appear on either side of me. Observing the badly damaged straw man I've been practicing on,

" Todays been a bit... Troublesome." I rest the spear against my shoulder and turn to the both of them,

" What are you two up to? Shouldn't you be walking around the city looking for trouble makers?" Tono laughs and pokes my rib cage,

" Already found one; A lovely looking one too, if I may add." Tsubasa rolls his eyes and snorts, " Ignore him, he says that to every pretty girl he see's." I smile and crack my knuckles, " Soon enough though we'll probably end up heading towards the borderlands again." Tsubasa sighs, " The rebels seem to be getting back up from other enemy countries," I stare up towards the sky; who would've thought that our " enemy" stares at the same sky I'm looking at right now,

" Instead of merely crushing them why not just listen to what they have to say? A negotiation of sorts." Tono ties his long dark hair back, " We tried that once; they want the crown and the power that seemingly comes with it, they torture the citizens and play it off as though the royals don't care."

Tsubasa draws his sword; a fine blade with smaller swords engraved decoratively into the metal, " I hope a day comes soon where I won't have to draw this sword to kill former countrymen turned rebel by lies spread by that woman." I'm about to ask about the woman he speaks of but a loud bell interrupts my train of thought, Tono smiles,

" Finally, it's supper time."

" We really need to teach you how to use silverware," Misaki comments with a wry smile as she sits across from me, I open my mouth to respond but Natsume falls into the chair next to mine,

" Don't even bother with her, she's a lost cause." He begins filling his plate as others take their places around the table,

" Please do explain, your excellency." I cross my arms as he cuts into a slab of lamb,

" I don't have to, just look at you." He gestures towards my hair,

" At least tie your hair back before eating and stop hunching over like an animal." I growl at him and grab a fork and knife to start carving into my meal,

" What the hell are you doing?" He grabs my wrist and I glance at him, he moves closer into me and I feel his breath tickle my ear slightly,

" Don't stab into your food, if your struggling with it that much just ask me to cut it up for you instead of wreaking a perfectly good meal." I stiffen slightly as he withdraws and starts to but into my portion of goat with grace and lifts it to my mouth,

" Hurry and open your mouth," I open hesitantly as I bite into the meat,

" That wasn't too hard now, was it?" He smirks and his brows narrow with condescension, I turn away with flushed cheeks,

" Never mind, I'm not hungry." He sighs loudly,

" You act like such a child..." I whip my head around to face him,

" I'm not a child," I scowl at him,

" Whatever," He rolls his eyes and stands only to bend down and grab my waist,

" If you'll all excuse us for a moment." He bows and walks away with me stumbling behind him,

" What do you want?" I stop moving and he turns to me with an annoyed expression, " I won't move until you tell me what you want."

He shakes his head, " Fine then." He grasps my waist yet again and hoists me over his shoulder, my mouth drops wide open as he begins to move again through the dully lit corridor leading out to the garden,

" Y-You idiot, Let me down now!" I pound my fists against his back but he continues to move out into the garden, he finally sets me down near a large tree near a small stream I've had yet to explore yet, I direct my attention back to Natsume and flinch slightly as his eyes pin me in place,

" We move out after the Ball Of Alice ends, I'll be accompanying you." He grasps my hands and squeezes them slightly,

" Whatever you do, I don't want you to leave my side while we're on the front lines; do you understand?" I nod a bit, his eyes soften a bit and he smooths back my hair,

" I will protect you to the best of my abilities, on that vow I swear." He stands and walks away into the darkness of the night, leaving me leaning up against the tree. A small sakura petal falls and I catch it in my open hand. I stare at it's heart shaped exterior before looking back up into the star filled night, I'll need to consult Hotaru about this thumping pain that's bombarding my chest of late.
