The best people in life are free.

Taylor Swift; New Romantics

"I don't know what to do." I lamented, head buried in my hands as I soaked in a medicinal bath, drawn by my favorite personal maid. Misa continued to be a saint.

"I think that one's obvious Sky. Look, you obviously like Reiko and you think she's hella cute, but it seems to me that it's just more platonic." Jenna replied simply from my phone. I groaned at her words, mostly because I knew she was right, not something which occurred too often.

Reiko and I had been dating for about a month. She was sweet, considerate, funny, everything I could ask for, but there just wasn't any...spark. It may have been silly to place my hopes on something so fairy tale like, but when we kissed there just wasn't anything. It was nice, pleasant, but there weren't any fireworks.

"Why though? I wanted this to work out so bad."

"I know pumpkin, but that just means you haven't met your happily ever after yet, and you will and you're gonna have a fairy tale wedding and have perfect little kids and a perfect little life."

"This sucks."

"Hey, no one ever said love was easy.

Laughter spilled from my mouth as Haruhi regaled me with the tale of the Host Clubs' new lady manager. It was always something outrageous when it came to that group.

"She demolished Tamaki-senpai, I wish you would have been there to see it Sky." She said in-between bites of her lunch.

"Man, I can't believe I missed out on something so exciting." I pouted.

"Where were you yesterday anyway?"

I paused before sighing. "I ended things with Reiko."

"Why? I thought you really liked each other?" Haruhi questioned, slightly wide-eyed.

"We did, we do. It's just a more platonic feeling. She actually completely agreed with me. There's no hard feelings." I explained and Haruhi nodded.

"That's good then. It would have been unfortunate if it effected your team dynamic."

"I know, I was so scared. I think things well be fine though, maybe a bit awkward, but it would have been more awkward to just let things stay as they were."

"That's true."

"I thought about it all last night, maybe having a lady manager isn't such a bad idea." Tamaki pondered. The Host Club was having a meeting after club hours, I was just hanging out since Mitskuni and Takashi were my rides, not that anyone seemed to think twice about my presence anymore. I was becoming a fixture at that point.

"Why do you say that?" The twins responded.

"It's fairly obvious isn't it? Renge just transferred into the same class as Haruhi. So, if Haruhi has a girlfriend around, it could bring out the female within her." He explained. "Renge's girlish air and tender ness might be able to stimulate Haruhi's own sense of femininity."

"Good grief." Haruhi mumbled.

"Guess I'm a bump on a log."

"Of course, I didn't mean to offend Sky-"

"Yeah yeah, it's whatever." I interrupted with a wave of my hand, cutting of the blonde's apology. Tamaki would never say anything purposefully mean, I knew that.

"Now is our chance to help Haruhi get in touch with her feminine side. This is an important project men. She doesn't have any friends in class right now except these two shady twins. And of course, SkyLynn-hime, but that's only one class. That's no good for her."

"Like you have room to talk."

The doors to the Host Club suddenly inched open and a girl with caramel colored hair poked her head in. That must be the new lady manager. "Hey everyone! You'll be happy to know that your new manager Renge has baked all of you some cookies."

"Isn't she ladylike? I'm so moved by your generosity!" Tamaki expressed dramatically.

"I didn't make these cookies for you, you phony prince." Ouch. She was a ruthless as Haruhi said. I was liking her already.

She immediately flocked to Kyoya's side. "I'm sorry I burnt them a little bit. I did the best I could, and I already know what you're going to say. Oh! You're always so sweet to me Kyoya-sama!"

Wow. She really was delusional about Kyoya, a full-fledged otaku. While she was busy fawning over him, I watched Mitskuni sneak the cookies right from her.

"You're right, these cookies really are burnt." He commented plainly while nibbling on one.

"Don't eat that Mitskuni, it's bad for you." Takashi interjected and I inched closer to the pair, curious about just how bad the cookies could be.

Renge's mood immediately turned into something much scarier and I stepped in front of her before she could begin chasing my favorite pair of cousins.

"I don't think we've been probably introduced." I smiled politely. She stopped dead in her tracks and looked me up and down in contemplation.

"Who are you?" She questioned, a bit rudely if I was being honest.

"I'm SkyLynn Chiasson, I'm a friend on the Host Club." I could see the gears turning in her head as she processed the new information before her eye lit up.

"Of course! It's you, Mikino-chan, the best friend character! It's so good to see you!" The French girl squealed, wrapping her arms around me and pulling me into a bone-crushing hug.

Ooookaaaaaay.

Renge broke away when she heard the rest of the hosts' squabbling and she brought her hand up to her face in contemplation.

"Renge-chan, Sky-chan, want some? It's milk." Mitskuni offered, holding a cute pink cup with a bunny on it. However, Renge didn't budge.

"I'm good, thanks Mitskuni-senpai."

"Lukewarm." Renge said softly before erupting. "Every single one of you! Except for Kyoya-sama, all of your characters are lukewarm! Each of you has to have some sort of dark side, you understand? Girls are vulnerable to handsome young men who are troubled. If you keep carrying one like this, it's only a matter of time before the girls get tired of you and stop coming all together. Are you trying to ruin my precious Kyoya-sama's business?"

She certainly wasn't playing around.

"As your manager, it's my duty to change your character backgrounds. Let's start with you!" She shouted, pointing directly at a terrified Mitskuni. "If all you are is cute inside and out than you're not different than a baby. Therefore, from now on, you are the baby-faced thug!"

"And Mori-senpai, you're his childhood friend, a flunky."

"The twins will be basketball players, enslaved in their own world."

"Haruhi-kun, you're an honor student who's constantly being bullied."

"And Tamaki-san, you're the school idol who's admired for your good looks but you actually have an inferiority complex that you're hiding from the world, the lonely prince."

"And Kyoya-sama, you're perfect just the way you are now, so I want you to stay as affectionate and kind as ever, kay?" Renge finally finished.

"Thank you, I'm honored." Kyoya replied politely.

"Well that was intense." I whispered to Haruhi who could only nod in agreement.

"Sky-chaaaaaaan! You don't think I'm a baby-faced thug, do you?" Mitskuni wailed, throwing himself at me and wrapping his arms around my waist.

"Of course not Mitskuni-senpai, you're one of the sweetest people I know." I reassured, patting the top of his head. "And Takashi-senpai certainly isn't a flunky."

"Thanks."

"It's coming along so well! Isn't it, Sky-chan?" Renge gushed excitedly, practically bouncing up and down with excitement. Today Renge had the host club doing what was akin to a professional movie shoot by the look of the camera crew she had flown in. She was insistent that I attend the whole thing –being that in her mind we were best friends-, but I had practice so I missed the majority of the actual filming.

"It is, I'm impressed you were able to get all this put together in such short notice." I replied honestly. It was a lot for a teenage girl to put together, but she did it seemingly without a hitch. I had no doubt that she could accomplish anything she set her mind to.

"You're as nice as ever Sky-chan!" Yeah, that part was still weird. I'd only actually known her for a few days but she acted like we had been friends forever. "Oh! Look at those two guys, they would be perfect as thugs!"

Before I could interject, the girl was darting across the lawn, directly toward two of our classmates who did look a bit suspicious, but I tried not to judge people based on their outward appearances. Still, this couldn't be good. Renge didn't seem to have any filter. While she might not mean to offend those two boys, it's likely she would.

"Renge!" I called out but she was too far away to hear me. She was fast. I noticed Haruhi come around the corner and sighed in relief. Hopefully she could smooth things over with the boys.

My heart dropped when I saw Renge latch onto the arm of the brown-haired boy and attempt to drag him.

Oh no.

When in the next moment, the same boy literally pushed Renge off of him and into a bunch of movie equipment, I took off in a sprint.

"Hey! What the fuck do you think you're doing?!" I shouted, putting my body between the two boys and my friends.

"She started it!"

"Okay?! She didn't mean any harm! Some macho guys you are putting your hands on a girl!" Both the boys took a step back from me and looked properly scolded. With a huff, I turned my back to them and rushed to Haruhi's side. She must have taken the brute of the impact for Renge.

"Those boys are right." Haruhi started before I could start fussing over her. "Renge-chan, if you judge people by stereotypes, you won't ever be able to see what's really important."

"I'm not sure I understand what you mean."

"Haruhi! What happened?" Tamaki asked as he came careening around the side of the building, taking in the sight before him. Haruhi finally lifted up her head and I tilted my head in confusion at the tears streaming down her face. Her contacts probably got messed up.

Tamaki took her tears to mean something else and he charged at the boys, grabbing the one who pushed REnge by the front of his shirt and pushing him up against the side of the building. Uh-oh.

"Which one of you started this?"

"Wait, Suoh! She's the one who started giving us a hard time!" The blonder one said frantically.

"It's true senpai." Haruhi agreed. "These boys aren't at fault."

"They're telling the truth Tamaki-kun, and I already gave them a scolding." The two boys gulped hard and took off when I shot them a glare.

Tamaki immediately rushed to Haruhi's side, grabbing her face in his hands.

Interesting.

"Haruhi, does it hurt?" He asked tenderly.

"Yes." She replied honestly before pulling out her contact. "It's my contact."

I knew it.

"Your contact?"

"Yeah, it slipped out."

The blonde boy began to laugh, mostly in relief. "So that's it. Once you can cry without using eye drops, you're a full-fledged host."

"How cute." I whispered to myself. They were going to be the cutest couple eventually.

"Cameraman! Did you catch that?" Renge suddenly shouted and I whipped around, only just noticing that they crew had been filming the whole time.

"Yes boss."

"Except for the contact falling out, that was the ideal last scene! All I need now is for Kyoya-sama to provide some moving narration."

The sound of glass shattering caught everyone's attention.

"No! My camera!"

"Kyoya-sama?" Renge asked in helpless confusion as everyone took in the sight of Kyoya holding a giant rock against the now shattered camera. So, the real Kyoya finally came out.

"I'm sorry, but I cannot allow there to be any record of a club member engaging in violence. I am extremely displeased at the way you're acting like such a pest." Ouch. I couldn't help but feel bad for Renge, as delusional as she was.

"Why?" She started, tears beginning to glide down her face. "Kyoya-sama, you're supposed to tell me not to worry about it, and then gently pat me on the head! Why would someone as kind and affectionate as you...?"

"That's not who Kyoya is." Tamaki explained simply.

"It's really not." I added, and she turned to us, looking like a helpless little girl. She sunk to her knees, silent sobs racking her body.

"It doesn't matter, does it?" Haruhi asked, approaching the heartbroken girl. "Even if Kyoya-senpai is a little different from what you expected, Renge-chan, I think that watching people, and slowly, little by little, getting to know them can be fun, too."

"Haruhi-kun is right Renge-chan. Besides, where's the fun if you already know everything there is to know about someone?"

After the drama of the day, I was finally on my way home, accompanied by Mitskuni and Takashi. My blonde friend was as chatty as always, especially after such an exciting day, but Takashi was quiet, even more so than usual.

When we arrived at my house, he got out and helped me out the limo like always, but the minute I was on my feet, he was back inside the limo and I was standing there dumbfounded, wondering just what I did to make the tall boy upset with me.

A/N: Wowie, this is long overdue. I didn't realize it's been so long since I updated, sorry about that guys. My muse is a fickle thing but I'll try and do better.

SO, as you can see, I put an end to the Reiko thing very abruptly. I really liked the idea when I first started the fic, but going forward, I just don't have the time to do anything with it, it made me not want to write so I decided to just scrap the idea. I didn't want to go back and change anything because it would take too long to rewrite so I kinda just shoehorned it in there so I apologize.

Other than that, I hope you all enjoyed, let me know what you think!

P.S.: I'm looking for a beta writer for this fic so if you're interested shoot me a pm. Thanks! Love you all, xoxo.
