I'm Still But a Man

Chapter 11

Yu Ri was waiting for L to finish his bath in the bedroom, when she heard his voice calling out her name. Slowly she padded to the door and knocked. "L, you alright?" Silence, before she heard the pained voice: "No..." Taking a deep breath Yu Ri opened the door, mentally prepared for everything possible. Instead of some gruesome trip-and-fall scenario the door revealed a very miserable looking L, still sitting in the tub and rubbing his right eye. "I have soap in my eye."

Seriously this man! Here I was thinking he'd hurt himself! Yu Ri thought while walking to the tub and helping the detective get the soap off.

And then something neither of them had expected happened. "Could you help me wash my hair? Pretty please." the detective blurted. Yu Ri blinked, once, twice. "Are you serious?" She asked dumbfounded that was the last things she had ever expected to hear from his mouth. It was obvious to anyone who spent any length of time with the detecive that Lawliet was not a man who did things himself. The only thing Yu Ri had witnessed him doing were thinking and eating and those were the base necessities thst made him the man he was, for everything else he had staff. But to act like she would gladly do what ever whimsical idea crossed his mind in his drunken state! The detective who was acting like a 5 year-old just held out the shampoo bottle and smiled goofily. "I'm drunk. Can't seem to do anything right." Yu Ri sighed and took the bottle giving him a warning look. "I will not make a habit of this. I'm your friend not your servant." She said sounding quite annoyed. L smiled, I am a selfish man.He knew this much but his selfishness had kept him alive while hunting criminal masterminds, his selfishness had given him what he wanted in life. It was in no way in his nature to wait for something he wanted.

Aww, don't be mad Lady Yu. I know I'm being a prat. The things I do to keep you around. But right now ... and all thoughts fled out of his mind the moment Yu Ri sunk her fingertips into his hair. Her fingers easing away the beginnings of a headache. Sending pleasant chills down his spine.
