Kate blinked her eyes a few times before looking at the clock on the night stand. Seeing that it read it was a little after six in the morning; she rolled onto her back. Turning her head to the right she saw that the other side of the bed was empty. Dean must have gotten up already.
With a grown Kate pulled the covers off and got up to see if anyone else was awake. Leaving her room Kate headed down the hall and down the steps. Once she reached the bottom she could hear people moving around in the kitchen.
"Morning," Bobby said being the first one to see Kate walk towards the room. "Hope your room is ok for you." With a quick look towards Dean who wasn't even looking at her, Kate responded as he checks turned pink.
"Yes, it is." Kate moved more into the room.
"Not much of a morning person, huh?" Sam said as he sat down at the table with a bowl of oatmeal.
"Not till I've had some coffee." Kate gave him a small smile; going to the cupboard and getting a mug out.
"It's a fresh pot." Bobby said taking the mug from her and filling it up. "Milk and cream are in the fridge." He handed the mug back to her.
"Thanks." Kate moved to the fridge and got the milk out when Dean stood up from the table were he was cleaning a gun. "When are you heading out?" Kate asked him as he passed her.
"As soon as we can." He said.
"Ok." Kate said not knowing what else to say.
"So, did you ah, sleep ok last night?" Dean said in a quiet voice looking around the room to see if Sam or Bobby were watching them.
"Yes, I did. How about you?" Kate asked feeling embarrassed.
"Just fine." He said before going back over to the table and putting the gun back together.
Kate leaned against the counter drinking her coffee as she watched the three men. Sam was on his laptop as he finished eating his oatmeal. Bobby was leaning against the counter on the other side of the room as he flipped pages in an old book. And once Dean was done with his guns he started to pack everything up into a bag. "Pack up Sammy, lets hit the road." Dean said zipping up the bag and heading out of the room.
Kate put down the mug by the sink and left the kitchen to head back up to the room she was in. She wanted to be dressed when she said goodbye to the brothers when they ready to leave.
On her way back down the steps she saw Sam headed out the front door.
"Are you leaving?" Kate called to him, making him stop and wait for her at the door.
"Yeah, once we finish packing and fill up with gas." Sam held the door open for her as she walked out of the house with him.
"Let me help?" Kate offered as she took one of the bags from Sam's hand. He still was holding one bag in his other hand and over his shoulder.
"Thanks." Sam moved the bag from his shoulder to his empty hand. The two of them walked around the house to were the Impala was. Bobby and Dean were standing next to it talking as Dean filled it up with gas.
"Be sure to call if you need anything." Bobby said to the boys once Sam was close enough to hear him.
"We will." Dean replied as he took the gas nozzle out of his gas tank. Kate was behind the car with Sam as he put the bags in the trunk. She placed the one she was caring in the trunk too before talking to Sam.
"Be careful, ok." She said.
"Don't worry we will." Sam said before the two said goodbye to each other with a big hug. Dean stood watching the two of them embrace, with a glare on his face. He wasn't really happy about them hugging.
Kate pulled back from the hug and walked over towards Dean when she saw Bobby walking over to Sam.
"You're going to be safe, right?" Kate said stopping a few feet in front of Dean.
"All ways am." Dean gave her a smile as he put his hands into his jean pockets. "Don't worry, I'll bring Sammy back in one piece." He said with a light laugh.
"You bring yourself back in one piece too." Kate said making her checks turn pink again for the second time that morning.
"I'll do my best."
"Are you sure you are going to be ok here?" Dean asked Kate, he felt a little worried about leaving her alone so soon.
"I'll be fine. So how long will you be gone?" Kate wondered.
"It shouldn't take too long, a few days. Most of that will be driving." The two of them stood in silence for a few moments before Kate spoke up again.
"Do they know," Kate started, but didn't finish before Dean answered.
"No." Was all he said.
"Thanks for staying last night. It really did help having you there."
"I'm always here to help." Dean gave her a wink, making her laugh. Dean removed his hands from his pockets and gave Kate a hug. "And don't worry I won't tell Sam that you tried to cuddle with me in your sleep."
"What?" Kate pulled back slightly with her face turning bright red. "No I didn't" She tried to defend herself.
"How would you know? You were sleeping." Dean said trying to hold in his laughter.
"Did I really?" Kate asked softly, feeling really embarrassed now.
"No you didn't." Dean said as he headed for the impala to leave. Sam was already getting into the car on the passenger side. "Not that I would mind!" He called out as he got into the car and closed the door and starting the engine.
Kate watched as the Impala took off down the gravel drive thinking to herself. Did Dean just flirt with her a little? Why would he do that? They barely know each other. But if he was flirting with her, she surly didn't mind. As Kate watched the car drive off down the road as a smile came onto her face.
