Chapter 11

Luke walked over to the head table while his brother led the Hermes cabin out of the Mess Hall along with the other campers.

"What's up Chiron?" Luke asked casually. He was wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and high tops. His blonde hair was blowing in the soft wind and the scar that ran down his face glowed in the sunlight.

"We have some new campers today. And as you know, all new members stay in the Hermes cabin. Can you please show them around and make sure they don't do anything reckless? We've already had an incident." Chiron said smiling as he glanced at Ace.

Luke's eyes switched to the newcomers as he observed them from a closer view. They were almost the same height. They both looked fit and ready for a challenge, no matter what it was. The girl had long legs, showing that she could go for endurance. The boy was well built, with elements of battle distributed equally, like he could put up a fight if trained properly. A smile twitched on his face as he assessed their new warriors.

Luke was broken out of his thoughts when the boy decided to speak. "I guess I'm the reckless one." The boy said, smiling at Chiron's statement as he stretched his hand out for a shake.

"Hey, I'm Luke Castellan, head of the Hermes cabin. I guess you guys will be hanging with us for now, so come on and I'll show you around." Luke said smiling as he accepted the handshake.

"Lead the way boss. By the way, I'm Ace and that's my friend Talitha, Tal for short." Ace stated, earning jab to the ribs from Talitha for giving her a nickname.

"Hi, I am Tal, I guess." Talitha said, sending a mock glare at Ace.

"Alright, follow me guys. But before we start, here's a fair warning; watch out for the Ares cabin, especially their head counselor. She's a little harsh towards newcomers." Luke said, walking towards the exit as the two fell into step.

A small smile twitched on Aces and Tals face remembering Clarisse.

"Thanks for the heads up." Ace replied.

The pair followed Luke as he showed them around the camp. First was the stables, then the armory, then the woods, etc. Now the trio headed to the cabin area where Luke was going to show them cabin eleven.

As soon as they entered the cabin area, a bunch of buff kids stepped in front of them, led by a burly girl.

"Oh great, and here I am thinking that we avoided them." Luke muttered letting out an annoyed sigh.

"I am going to take a wild guess and say she's Clarisse." Ace said pointing at the buff girl that was in front of them.

"Yup." Luke replied as he popped the 'p' at the end.

"Hey punks, welcome to camp. I'm Clarisse La Rue, head of the Ares cabin, the strongest cabin in this place." Clarisse said grinning from ear to ear as she stepped up.

"Looks like someone here has a big ego." Ace muttered, but made it loud enough so Clarisse and her goons could hear.

"What was that punk?" Clarisse growled as her nostrils flared.

"Chill out yo, you got some anger issues or something?" Ace continued to add fuel the fire. Tal stood next to him and smiled at the fact that it was really easy to anger Clarisse.

Luke also stood next to the pair and observed Ace carefully. He didn't know what the kid was getting at. Clarisse was a hot head but she was a good fighter. And for Ace to ignore his warning and piss off Clarisse showed that either he had a death wish or that there was more to him than he was showing.

"You know something kid? We here at camp have a ritual for the newcomers." Clarisse said as her angry expression turned into a smirk.

"Here it comes." Luke muttered. He looked around and noticed that people had gathered around their little commotion. 'You've got an audience now. Show us what you got kid.' Luke said in his head.

"Sounds fun, what is it?" Ace continued his little game.

"Come, I'll show you." Clarisse said as she rushed forward and tried to grab Aces neck.

Everyone was surprised when Ace grabbed Clarisse's hand, twisted it and put it against it her back.

"What the Hades?" She growled as Ace strengthened his hold on her.

"No touching." Ace said, his voice finally turning serious.

"Let go of me you freak." Clarisse growled as she struggled against the hold.

Ace let go of her hand and pushed her forward. Clarisse stumbled forward but turned around quickly as her anger grew to new heights.

"Luke here said you were strong, but I don't see what the big deal is? You're seriously weak if a newcomer can do that to you." Ace stated bluntly as his voice lost the serious edge.

"Ace knock it off. Chiron said not to cause any trouble." Tal said looking around at the crowd that had gathered around them.

"You never let me have any fun, plus I didn't start it, it's her fault." Ace said smiling as he slung his arm over her shoulder.

Tal let out a sigh and grabbed his hand. She removed his arm from her shoulders, but instead of letting go, she twisted it and held it against his back.

"Uncle, uncle." Ace cried as Tal held him in the same hold he had used against Clarisse moments ago.

"Luke, what's going on here?" A voice said from the crowd.

Luke, along with Tal and Ace turned their heads to see Annabeth push her way through the crowd into the circle. She looked at Tal and Ace as she walked up to Luke.

"Are they the new campers?" She asked as she stopped three feet away from the three.

"Yeah. Ace, Tal? Meet the head of the Athena cabin, Annabeth Chase." Luke stated.

Annabeth blushed at the introduction as she turned to face Ace and Tal. She was surprised to see Ace glaring at her but she ignored it and spoke. "Hey guys, welcome to the camp." She said smiling.

But Tal and Ace stood in silence. When Ace first had heard her voice in the crowd, his body went rigid and his blood started rushing. Tal had decided to release him from the hold, sensing the anger washing away all playfulness he had held in his body a moment ago. But she still decided to hold onto his hand, just in case she needed to pull him back from something or rather someone. She didn't want him doing anything that might be unnecessary at the moment.

Ace didn't want to show the murderous intent in him, so he settled with a glare. He glared at the head of the Athena cabin as she stood there and conversed with Luke.

When she turned to them and spoke, he didn't know what to say. He had hoped Tal would say something because if he spoke, nothing good would have came out of his mouth. But he turned his eyes to her to see that she had decided to stay silent as well.

He swallowed everything in him, tightened his hold around Tal's hand, replaced the glare with a fake smile and spoke, "Hey, I'm Ace and this is my friend Tal. And thank you." Ace said smiling
