I got up with a start when I felt the ship shaking violently. "Um Doctor what's going on?!" I asked running to the cockpit. The doctor was struggling with the controls. I pushed him from the pilot's seat, and yanked to the side. Soon the ship stopped shaking uncontrollably. "What did you do?" I asked turning in my seat to face him.
He shrugged as he stood up from the floor when I pushed him from the seat. "I honestly don't know, one moment it was smooth flying the next it was like we were being grabbed by something.
"Wait grabbed?..oh no." I said and went to the scanner after putting in a few commands there was a beep. "I knew it!" I said running back to the cockpit, and turned the ship around. I glared out the viewport as only a few kilometers away was a light Imperial cruiser. Something was strange it was all black not the usual grey color.
"What's with that color?" Doctor Horzit said as he looked upon the light cruiser. I shrugged as I watched a boarding vessel detach from the cruiser. "Gail we should take out of here before we get boarded." Javhas said as he watched the Imperial boarding craft.
"No, they wouldn't have us on any record we didn't exactly commit a crime that was reported, maybe their comms are broken and we're in military space." I said as the hissing of the craft sealing to the airlock.
"Oh hell, I hope you're right." Horzit said as he walked towards the small medical bay. "I'll be back here, say I'm the doctor on this ship if they ask." He said before the door slide close behind him. I nodded ,and watched as the airlock door started to open.
"Ok I'll talk my way out of this." I mumbled under my breath. As the doors of the airlock opened I blinked. They weren't officers or normal stormtroopers. There was a squadron of at least sit stormtroopers that wore black pauldrons. Standing in front of the six was a stormtrooper wearing a orange pauldron. I remembered from the Imperial academy that more elite soldiers wore pauldrons.
The orange pauldron stormtrooper walked forward towards me with the other six troopers following in suit. I now notice something strange they all had a white wolf pattern on their pauldrons. "You're vessel will be searched for any contraband." He said nodding as his troopers as they started going around my ship.
I sighed letting do their search, I didn't need to get in trouble with the Empire after getting away so soon. "What's your name and number?" I asked the stormtrooper with the orange pauldron.
"I am Commander Kopperve, number KS-452, and sit down silent until the search is over." He answered pushing my onto one of the chair near the airlock. I did as I was told, I could tell these men were not normal troopers I never seen a pauldron with a pattern of a white wolf.
I saw Horzit talking to one of the other pauldron troopers with his arms in the air. I was starting to feel my heart pound in my chest, what were they looking for? All we had on this ship were our credits and blasters. My breath caught in my throat as one of them brought our case of credits.
"Sir we found this hidden in a compartment." They said opening it, and showing the credits. The Commander closed the case, and threw it at me. I grunted as I held the case making sure it didn't fall to the ground.
"It's useless to our investigation, have you found anything else." The trooper shook his head, and the commander pushed on the side of his helmet. "Men time to leave, what we're looking for is not here." As he put his arm down his men already were gathering in the airlock.
I watched the Commander turn around in silence and go into the air. As the airlocked hissed closed, the boarding craft flew from ou ship towards the black light cruiser.
"So I guess they left soon as they arrived." I said to myself as I watched the craft disappear into the cruiser. I slowly sat back down in the pilot's seat, and started flying the Baudo away from the area. Horzit didn't come out of the Medical chamber, he must have been searching for something.
"Gailfire!" The Doctor yelled almost making me fall from my seat. He ran out of the medical chamber with some sort of spider like droid on his back. "Get it off it's attacking me!" He said as he fell down face first.
I jumped up a DC-17 in each of my hands as I shot at it. It was thrown off his back. The droid jumped towards my rotating blades aimed for my throat. In prue reflex I held out my left hand, my blaster falling to the ground.
I yelled in pain as I felt the metal sink into my hand and through the back. I gritted my teeth as I slammed the droid against the wall, making the blades sink in deeper. I pointed the barrel of my blaster at the middle of the droid, and yelled pulling the trigger fast as I could. The smell of ozone filled the air as I pelted the small droid with blaster bolts.
I panted letting my left arm go limp as blood dripping from the blades in my hand. I looked down at the blades in my flesh, what was left of the droid was smoking on the ground pieces. I looked down at the blades sticking right through my hand.
With my back pressing against the wall of the ship, I slipped down to the the ground panting. Javhas looked up from the floor after a few moments. "O-oh lord, Gailfire uh come on." He said as he got up hurriedly. He dragged me up and towards the medical chambers.
"We don't have any anesthetic on board, I'm sorry this won't be pretty." Horzit said as he grabbed my hand gently as he looked at the blades. I sighed and I looked away, before long I was yelling in pain as he ripped the blades from my hand. "Stay still hold on." He said his tone calm.
I felt the cool gel of bacta on my hand as he wrapped bandages around it. "It should heal in a few hours, you're lucky that it didn't hit any of your bones." He said letting go of my hand after he finished wrapping my hand up.
I nodded as I got up walking back to the pieces of the droid that injured me. "Yeah I guess so, hold on what the hell.." I picked a piece of its body that was still intact. There was the Imperial symbol on it in silver paint. What got me confused was that there was a section of another symbol. The rest of it was destroyed with the rest of the droid so I couldn't tell what it was.
I put the piece down and forced open the destroyed body. I turned around pointing to a tool box. "Doctor can you hand me the splicer." He handed me the tool, and I spliced it open giving me access to the damaged memory bank.
I took my splicer, and removed the memory bank. I stood up going to my small work station in my quarters getting out my tools. After a few minutes I managed to repair it enough so I would get at least a small bit of memory from it.
I took a connection wire from my gauntlet ,and plugged it into the memory bank. I looked at the holo screen on my gauntlet as it brought up some encrypted code.
"Think that will stop me?" I mumbled to myself as I started swiping and tapping on the holoscreen. Numbers and symbols flew down the holoscreen as I kept tapping away. I chuckled as the numbers and symbols stopped.
"Now let's see what you are doing here my friend." I said looking down at the damaged memory bank. I tapped on the holoscreen as I opened the encrypted file. A name at the top of the file that caught my eye. "V90-Assassin Droid?" I mumbled, reading what it said out loud.
I tried to open the document labeled order, but all i recieved was a garble of numbers and symbols. "The damned thing is too corrupted." I said as I disconnected the connection wire from the memory bank. I put the memory bank next to my small workstation.
I got up and walked out of my quarters and back into the lounge area. I saw the doctor sitting at the holotable looking through the holonet. "So did you find anything?" Horzit asked without looking away from the holo projection.
"Not much without better tools I can't repair it enough to get any useful information." I said as I sat down next to him. Javhas shifted as he leaned back into the chair he was sat in. "Well I did get something" I added making eye contact with him. "It's called a V90-Assassin Droid."
He rubbed his nose, he took a moment before speaking once more. "Hmm well it is something for us to go on." Javhas leaned forward once more as he hit a few buttons on the holotable. "I think I know someone who can give us a better lead." He handed me a data pad with hyperspace coordinates.
I took the data pad, and stood up walking to the cockpit. "Alright I'll get this, hope your guy wont sell us out." I said ,putting in the coordinates. Soon the streak of stars stretched past us as we jumped into hyperspace.
