Ronald Weasley stared blankly at the letter in his hand. He had finally received a reply to his letter. He had thought that his not being raised by wizards would have increased his chances of getting the scholarship that he had sought after, but that was not the case. No his family, the one that had sold him to his mother had apparently been trying to find him for years. Now that he had been found they were claiming him so they would have to pay for his schooling at Hogwarts.

While he was grateful that he was not going to have to pay for his own things he was upset by this revelation. He had wanted to scholarship because it would give him a small allowance of gold that he could spend at his leisure, but now that was not going to happen. He did not know anythign about the Weasley family, but he did know that wizards like goblins did not look well upon soul magics and thus his "practices" would be most unwelcome.

There was a solid knock at the door. He contemplated opening it for a moment, but thought against it. Maybe the person would go away as he was not in the mood for visitors. There was another knock, and again he ignored it. Several moments of silence passed, and he was more than sure that there person was gone, but without warning the door flew open to reveal a short figure in a deep black cloak.

The figure walked into the room and shut and locked the door. Ron glared at the person and pulled a dagger from his robes. The dagger was the only weapon that he had created that he was allowed to keep, and it was a prized possession of his. The weapon had an enchantment that drained the life of any that felt its sting.

The figure did not seem the least bit intimidated by the dagger, but also did not seem to be looking for a fight. Instead the figure reached up and removed the hook that obscured its face revealing the visage of Rudgem.

"Mother." the boy spoke in a near whisper as he fumbled with his dagger to put it away nearly dropping the weapon in the process. "What are you doing here?"

She crossed the room and engulfed him in a hug. "I came here to speak with you my child. I have missed you terribly, but I have also come to explain somethings to you."

Ron shook himself free from her embrace. "Are you not afraid of the consequences of meeting me? They might have you executed for this!"

He might be willing to throw the lives of his fellow goblins away for the same of his research, but he was not one to put his mother in danger. That was something that he wanted with all his being to avoid. He loved her because she had raised him to become the man he was even if he was a stain upon the nation of Endour he knew that she would always love him.

"I spoke to Ragnok and he has allowed me to do this. You have been banned from dealing with our kind. The only interaction you may have is with a vault, but even that would be a stress so he appointed me as a point of contact so that you and the other goblins do not have to deal with one another. In addition he has allowed me to sell these to you."

Rudgem reached into the confines of her cloak and produced a small glowing gem that Ron recognized as a soul gem. The goblin knew what he used them for and he would have assumed that they would have made sure to find a way to ensure that he was never able to find them again, but they were giving them to him. It was confusing to say the least.

He deftly took the gem from her. "Why are you giving me this?"

Rudgem smiled at her son. "The people and the king may hate you, but Ragnok knows a warrior. He explained to me why you were not executed. You are a warrior child, and Ragnok knows that a warrior only deserves to be felled by someone with the strength of body and mind to do so. Warriors do not deserve to be ended by the fall of the headsman's ax. It was through these beliefs that he came up with this deal. While we will not aid you in your endeavors we will sell you the items that you may need."

"I have no gold of my own. All of it was seized by the nation for my transgressions. How would I be able to purchase anything?"

"I was able to start you an wizard's account. Within it is two thousand galleons. That will cover the beginnings, but the rest is up to you."

He hugged her. "This is more than enough mother. I had thought I would be unable to continue my work, but you have given me another chance, and for that I am grateful."

She kissed on the forehead. "Raccan my son I am only doing my duty as a mother ."

Hermione Granger sat with her parents. She had once again adopted her human form. It had taken quite a while to coax Dumbledore to let her rejoin them, but in the end he caved. When she had revealed that she could become human at will for as long as she wished he expressed concern as to why his spell that had turned her human had only worked for a moment. She replied with a grin that her magic had not wanted her to be human at that time. It baffled the bearded elder.

After she had returned home an owl delivered a Hogwarts acceptance letter to her. Her parents were more than a little unnerved by it, but she took it in a stride. It was one of the conditions of her release back into the custody of her parents that she go to Hogwarts, though she did not want to be there as a student it was the only way that they would let her go and she did not want to cause her family anymore undo stress.

So it was with a heavy sigh that she and her family went to Daigon Alley to procure the things that she would need for the blasted school. Everything had gone off without a hitch until they had gotten to the wand shop. The shop was call Ollivander's, and it was incredible old dusty and moldy. It greatly affected her khajiit nose, but she did her best to hide her discomfort, and what made things worse was the way that the man had looked at her.

His pale silver eyes regarded her with instant distrust. "Why are you here?" his voice was cold and low.

She was not afraid of the man in the least, but he was clearly affecting her parents who shrank back at his tone. She bared her teeth at the man. He seemed a little surprised at the action, but he did not change his demeanor.

"I'm here for a wand." She put on her hands behind her back and cast a quick calming charm on her parents to prevent them from being even more freaked by the old man.

Ollivander stared at her for quite a few moments. There was a look of quiet anger in face. "You and I both know that such a thing cannot happen girl. Leave this place."

The door magically opened, and just as quickly it slammed shut rattling the shelves and dislodging several of the wand filled boxes.

"I don't really want one of your damned sticks, but I have to get one so I'm not leaving without it!" Her parents looked at her curiously, while Ollivander only seemed to become more irate.

"So you come here and insult my creations but claim that you still need one!" He drew his wand and magic crackled through the wood. She snarled and summoned freezing ice into her hands. They stared at each other but neither made a move.

"So tell me creature why should I sell you a wand?" they did not drop their respective weapons and seemed to be a hair trigger away from killing one another.

"I need to go to Hogwarts and the only way is to have a wand. I would prefer not to, but for my safety and the only other like myself I have to."

She and Ollivander met eyes and she could feel his consciousness touch her own, but as abruptly as it was it left. He lowered his wand.

"Fine I will sell you a wand, but in exchange I would like two of your hairs." She gave his an odd look, but she released the spell and made to pluck a hair from her head. He raised a hand and she stopped.

"No a true hair." she groaned. She had explained to her parents about her transformation and how she could shift forms, but they had never seen it and she was hopping that she could keep it from them for a little while longer, but it seemed that no one else wanted that.

With not even a sound she transformed into her khajiit form and plucked two hairs from her tail. She handed them to Ollivander who looked at them for a moment before flicking his wand and sending to god knows where. His flicked his wand again and a box flew off the shelves and into Hermione's hand. She looked at it dumbly for a moment.

"Open it up and give it a wave."
