In sheeps Clothing

Her mission. To infiltrate, sabotage, destroy from within. They hadn't briefed her on who else was being sent in. All she knew of her fellow warriors. Was their forms. The Colossal Titan, the Armored Titan, the Female Titan and the Wolf Titan. They had all been sent here to complete their homelands mission. She did not know if her comrades had the same objective. She chuckled these wild Titans were just a means to an end. A way to exterminate the humans whilst not thinning out their own numbers. She looked at the Blades these frivolous beings had devised to kill and maim their tools of muscle and bone. She had seen sharper blades incorporated to cut bread let alone the nape of a monsters neck. With a swift and easy hack. Her hand fell to the floor. Blood gushed out of the wound. That didn't last long. In an instant she found herself looking down on the buildings that had previously towered above her. With a smash of her fist. It came toppling down. A messy rodent of a Giant crawled at her feet.

Its legs ripped clean from its body, they hadn't regenerated yet. Anything that pathetic was useless to the cause. With a powerful kick, its head crashed through the buildings embedding itself within the wall. She trudged forward moving at a steady pace. Each lumbering step brought a small quake. The immense weight of the Titan restricted movement however replaced by immense strength. A fist slammed its way into the wall. Its task climb the wall and destroy the stationary guns protecting the gateway. Another close not hand buried its way into the stone. Slowly it raised itself higher.

It heard a roar from below. Hulking heads raised from the streets. Gathering at her feet. Hands pawing at the toes. She heard a scratching noise from above. At her head. She saw a familiar face. Its snout was long and covered in hair. The Wolf Titan, a monster that dreaded the land. Killing both human and Titan alike. Sent here with one goal. To destroy from within. A bead of steaming saliva dripped onto her face. It growled. Its intentions curious. What was it doing? It edged closer scrapping its hardened nails across the cobble. Testing for a reason to fight. It looked long and hard into her eyes. Seeing a familiar face. Yet not being able to picture it. They could have been friends or enemies she would never know. Their identities in these forms were unknown to the other. When it moved giving her clear passage upwards, she knew that it understood. That was short lived.

The same horrible roar of hatred echoed from below. Just as fast she had climbed the two Titans fell. Monstrous hands gripped her legs and Wolf's throat. The beast who had grappled them. Had no flesh on its cheeks only a row of destructive teeth. It was different muscles bulged on every corner, compared to the other beings that were emancipated or bloated. It hurtled the two Titans to the feeding pits below. The Wolf titan spun on its heels slashing in a wide arc making them scatter. The girl her Titan form was large and obese. Its heavy body crashed into the crowd snapping the necks of many while partially flattening the others. They stood back to back. Ready to fight or die.

However this wasn't a fair fight. The rogue from before barreled through the huddled congregation. It grabbed the Wolf by the throat dragging it at high speed into the streets beyond. Leaving the girl all alone surrounded by hungry faces. All they wanted to do was devour. In a frenzy they lurched face first into the Shifter. No shield could defend her from the onslaught. She felt their teeth plunge into the skin ripping through flesh grinding through bone. In one swift motion she felt weightless as something lifted the neck of the ground. Outside of the wall of flesh. A Titan with absolutely no skin or flesh on its boned face carried the disemboweled head like a badge of war. The flesh at the base was already starting to disintegrate. The neck opened up and the girl spilled out unconscious. It gazed upon here. Blonde hair, beautiful features, a roundish waist. A name that probably suited her well. Who cared. She was dead already.

It munched on the head chewing, consuming her supple body. Chopping her up into the tiniest pieces eating her body completely. Swallowing her in entirety. The Titan swallowed her like a large lump of munched food. Its eyes widened. Her blood seeped into its colossal veins. Its body staggered. Its body twitching burning up as it felt her blood course within its own. It writhed in agony an overwhelming sensation of pain and life tortured it.

What was happening unexplainable by modern science. In terms of religion some would call it an Being born again. The Titans who were finishing up eating the previous remains of the Obese Titan gradually turned to face the one who had once been their comrade. Their faces lit up with savage delight. Macabre smiles formed on their bloodstained lips. They slowly shuffled towards the disoriented Titan in curiosity. Something was different. They were drawn to it. Like soldiers are to flares. An appetizing flare that they couldn't wait to sink their teeth into.

It dropped to the ground, completely immobile. Its body began to decay. Its neck split apart. Bone cracked exploding. In confusion, a boy climbed out of the carcass. He staggered taking in the strange sight before him. It was new completely new from where he last remembered. Shadows descended on him. Without a moments notice, he ran. Thunderous steps chased after him. He crashed into a hard object. It broke down allowing him escape into the buildings. As he weaved through the bombarded furniture. He took rest against the windows. He tried to catch his breath. But something made him hold it.

It was a footstep. He was frozen staring out the window. The face of a Titan was right in front of him. It was looking in the distance. He was exposed to its fleshless cheeks and shoulder length black hair. Its green eyes were vibrant with rage. It was thrown back as something threw a haired fist at its face. Dooming it into another building. It rose as fast as it could. The new Titan was looking tired. Its body was beaten and bloodied. The fight resumed until the Green eyed Titan was all that remained. A decapitated corpse was all that was left of the other one. Its head sent soaring off into the distance. He watched in horror as its skin began to dissolve and its body withered away.

Annie heard its cries. Its sound of defeat but she could not believe it for her own eyes. Marcus form lay dead and destroyed. The Titan that did it was long gone. Not much was left of the body. Just bones and a few strips of flesh was all that remained. There was no sign of an after struggle, which could only mean one thing. He was dead. Marcus was dead. The one person she had let into her life was dead. Killed to protect her. She hadn't felt this way since she left the Homeland. She was in misery. Tears streamed down her face at a constant rate. She had never gotten the chance to tell him how she really felt. Over all the people she had trained with she could have guaranteed that he would make it out. He was like an unstoppable hero in those stories he used to read to her. Yet the damsel in distress had to screw things up as always. Annie never thought she would be that hopeless. Looking back she had realized that's exactly what she was. The reason an honest, caring, and kind man now laid dead. Was because she wasn't a strong warrior. If the Titan hadn't have caught her they would both be alive now…

"Annie we need to go! Its not safe here!" Mina grabbed her by the shoulders in urgency pointing towards the horde of Titans inbound on their location.

"Leave me its my fault… Its my fault he's dead…" Annie collapsed onto her knees

"Annie we don't have time for this we have to go!" Mina tried to grapple Annie and force her to her feet but she wouldn't budge. All Annie could do was look in horror as more of his body wisped into the void. Mina screamed. That scream ricocheted setting of a chain reaction. Annie spun round. Her blades cutting the hand that reached out to grab both her and Mina. Annie couldn't hold it in any longer. She needed to scream. She needed to yell at the whatever supernatural force governed over their lives. They had separated her from her family and they had taken the man she loved! Without a moments hesitation she cried to heavens. Her voice was heard for miles. Stirring everybody and everything in range. Even the dead climbed out of their graves… What she got in response she had never expected, the ever so familiar sound of a Titan Shift. Steam bellowed in all directions. A fleshy monstrosity rose from the corpse of Marcus Ral. It lunged its body dissolving as it did. Its claws raked through the neck cleaving it in two X shaped slashes. Its body splattered against the now dead Titan. Inside wrapped in a coat of his own flesh and blood. Was Marcus Ral….

In life what hope is always unto men?

Stories of Arthur that shall come again.

Cleansing the earth in her eternal stain.

Elias, Charlemagne, Christ. What matter then.

What matter who, or how, or even when?

If we but look beyond the primal pain,

And trust the future to write all thing plain,

Graven on brass with the predestined pen.

This is the doom. Upon the blind blue sky.

A little cloud, no larger than a hand.

Whether I live and love, or love and die,

I care not: either way I understand

To me-to live is Christ; to die is gain

For I, I also, I shall come again.

And Marcus Ral did come again.
