Don't Walk Away
Chapter 11: Mission Annoyance
A/N:
Also, before reading this, if you haven't seen it, I highly suggest watching the first Naruto movie (blah blah blah…Land of Snow) to understand what is going to be going on plot wise in this fic, but I mean I try to stay true to the plot of the movie so if you don't watch it then it will basically be what happens but with my OC…
Yes, before you say anything, I know that this is out of order with the Naruto timeline. However, it is easier to use the first Naruto movie in here with my story so if you have a problem… don't read it. I'll get back on track with the original story line once this little arc is over… I need to progress the story somehow…
Nevertheless, sorry for the day late update, uni is trying to kill me because finals are in two weeks...
Flamecaster15: Dude, don't worry... the next couple chapters will contain all the drama! Not to mention fluff!
Emikoankotsu: No worries! Sorry I'm a day late posting this! Hahaha, girly I have so much in store for you! All the drama and fluff the next few chapters!
fluffpenguin: Thank you! And there may be some lovely stuff, but don't worry I won't try to screw up the action parts too much. There will be some parts that will differ (from my mental notes I am thinking about) but I know definitely mores of the fights (especially in part two of this story) they fight first... actually now that I think about it, it happens most of the time... at least in my own opinion... but now I am just rambling lol.
Amaya yawned as the early morning sun warmed her features. She couldn't decide if the transition from fall to winter was a cold one or not. Most days it was still sunny, but there were some that called for a heavy jacket. Amaya felt her nose twitch and she let out a small sneeze.
"You're not getting sick, are you?"
Amaya looked up to the voice that was coming from above her, but clearly behind her. She saw Kakashi perched on the ledge of a stone wall separating two parts of the village. Kakashi raised his hand to her in greeting and dropped down next to her. Amaya shifted her bag as Kakashi landed next to her so it wouldn't be uncomfortable if he hit it.
"No, I think by body is just reacting to the weird changes of the season. I can't decide if it is going to be a warm or a cold transition into winter."
"Definitely cold."
"What makes you say that?"
Amaya was answered by Kakashi looking towards the morning sun. She knew he wasn't a man of many words unless he needed to be, but it was still hard to understand where he was coming from at times.
"Is that all you are bringing?" Amaya said referencing the fact that Kakashi had only seemed to change into a thicker undershirt and bring nothing else with him.
She saw that he had no coat, gloves, a hat, nor a scarf, making her shake her head. She wasn't the one who was about to get sick, it was Kakashi. For someone of Kakashi's rank and stature he didn't seem to come prepared for the Land of Snow's cold climate. Unless she was the one who was wrong by assuming that the area would be cold; for all she knew it could be a place that named their country from the opposite of what it was. However, that still wouldn't explain the reason for Kakashi changing his undershirt into a thicker, flannel material to keep warm.
"If we complete the mission requirements in a timely fashion, I didn't think we were staying long. Plus, it shouldn't be as cold as you think."
"See, but that is the exact thinking that will bite you in the ass. Rule number one, always come over-prepared."
"But all that extra weight will slow you down."
"What happens if you need it but don't have it?"
"Well, if you need it you already should have brought it in the first place."
Amaya let out a soft sigh and decided to end the disagreement there. She figured that the two of them would have to agree to disagree. The pair stood there in now awkward silence as Amaya started to feel the guilt seep in. She knew that the two of them were trying to play off how Kakashi left so abruptly last night, but maybe it was her turn to reach out and sow the broken bridge.
The blue-haired kunoichi reached into her bag and rummaged through it. Kakashi took a step away from her so Amaya could have easier access to her bag. He watched her look for something with a furrowed brow and wondered what was going through her mind. After shoving her coat to the side, that's when Amaya found the folded, but simple, yellow scarf she had tucked away.
She casually took it out and outstretched her hand towards Kakashi. He followed suit and Amaya placed the piece of warm fabric in his hands. Amaya tried to let go of it once she felt Kakashi's fingers on her own, but he grasped her hand, keeping her there. She didn't have the heart to look up at him and for some strange reason, she felt her heart beat aggressively against her chest like she was out of breath. She tried to take a deep breath to slow it down, but by just a simple touch from Kakashi, she was somehow filled with adrenaline.
"I'm looking out for my friend. It's going to be cold in the Land of Snow and I don't want you to get sick. So, I'm lending you this for the journey ahead to make sure that you stay warm, even if you are refusing to bring a coat…"
Kakashi dropped Amaya's hand and placed the piece of fabric in his kunai bag that was strapped to his leg for safe keeping. Since they were still in the Land of Fire it was pointless to put it on until he needed it. With Kakashi dropping her hand, Amaya felt her heartbeat slow to the point where she could look up and even though Kakashi wasn't looking at her anymore; instead he was placing the scarf away until he needed it, she saw that he was smiling under the mask.
"Thank you" Kakashi said standing upright one more.
"You say that to me a lot, you know that" Amaya grinned cheekily.
She saw Kakashi's smile fade into a humorless one, knowing that he was a little annoyed with her joke. Nevertheless, the whole exchange did make up for what happened the night before. Amaya could rest easy for the mission knowing that she had fixed whatever had transpired between them by emphasizing that Kakashi was her friend and she was looking out for him. It was just hard knowing who were her friends at this point and who were not. She never had time to make lasting relationships, but now that she could, she was lacking socially. So, she just hoped that what she was doing now was correct.
Leaning back against the wall Kakashi joined her. He tilted his neck from side to side and then took out his book. Amaya rubbed her lips together to keep from laughing noting that the man really did take a book from his favorite series everywhere he went—even if it was a high stakes mission. The kunoichi casually watched as Kakashi flipped through the pages he was reading. She never could tell if the man was a slow reader, or was just trying to take in every detail of the page.
Personally, she was the latter. When she needed to read fast, for example: mission reports, she could but when it was a good story, she loved taking her time and being absorbed into the world. It was just the magic a good book held—it had the power to take over the mind and transport someone to worlds that had yet to be explored.
"So, when are you going to let me read your book?"
"I thought you said you wouldn't bother me about it until I was ready to loan it to you."
"I know but reading it in front of me is just baiting me to ask… isn't it?"
Amaya watched as Kakashi sighed and closed his book, placing it into his pocket once again. She probably shouldn't have said anything because a part of her enjoyed watching him read his book and observe how he was slowly losing himself in the world he was reading about.
"I don't—" Kakashi started but was interrupted by a large bang coming from somewhere past the other side of the wall the two were leaning against.
Amaya and Kakashi looked at each other before springing into action. Amaya followed Kakashi since he was the first over the wall, his height making it easier for him to scale it. She caught up with him, seeing him perched on yet another wall as she rounded the corner. She turned her head to the right and came to a jog once she realized what all the ruckus was about.
"What are you two doing?" Kakashi sighed scratching the back of his neck.
Amaya watched as Sakura and Sasuke made easy work tying up a bunch of samurai who were clearly not from this area. Their armor screamed that they were from a colder climate, but still something was off. Amaya couldn't quite place it other than the fact that these men didn't really seem like true samurai to her. Yes, samurai were thought to be weaker than the ninjutsu trained shinobi, but a skilled samurai would be able to hold their own against at least a chunnin.
The blue-haired kunoichi looked at Kakashi as the same realization flashed across his face. Amaya knew then that she wasn't the only one who thought the same thing. She watched as the white-haired nin jumped down from the ledge and take off one of the samurai's mask. Then, in a quick manner, Amaya saw Kakashi take out his kunai and use his taijutsu to cut the rope that was holding all the men in place.
Sasuke and Sakura just looked at Kakashi with curiosity and Amaya could tell that Sasuke was a little pissed at what Kakashi did after he had expended energy trying to tie everyone up. Amaya stood next to the two genin and looked at the men sitting on the ground. She finally had her light bulb moment and realized that the men that the genin had tied up were probably a part of the agency that hired Konoha nin to look after their star actress.
"I am so sorry sir, I didn't mean for this to happen" Kakashi apologizes to one of the older men in the group and helps him stand up.
Amaya could see the look of fake curtesy and formality written across her comrade's face. She had been there all too many times before and she never did like the missions where she had to escort someone to someplace. It just required too many formalities and nine times out of ten, the review on how the mission went all depended on how well the person likes you, not if you did your job or not.
"Kakashi-sensei, who—" Sakura chimed in but was cut off by Kakashi answering her question for her.
"This is the man who just employed us, who we are going on a mission for. Once again, I'm sorry Mister…"
"It's Sandayu Asama… Please… no formalities… just… Sandayu…" The older man gripped Kakashi's forearm and tried to catch his breath.
"What is he having us do?" Sasuke butted in.
"We are overseeing the protection of an actress, Yukie Fujikaze, that he is the manager of… that is correct, right, Sandayu?"Amaya started, extending her hand to the older man who took it.
"That is correct… uhh…"
"It's Amaya, sir." Amaya faked a smile and reached out her hand to shake the older man's.
"Amaya, what a pretty name… what does it stand for?"
Amaya blinked not ready for a personal question, but figured that it was a customary of the older generation to ask such a thing.
"Well, if I remember correctly it is something to do with raining at night because my name has the combination of ame and yoru…"
"It fits you well… If I can say so myself…" Sandayu said and then the pair dropped each other's hands from the handshake.
Amaya gave Kakashi a peculiar look as if she was trying to convey if he had checked the older man for a concussion or something. Nevertheless, Amaya failed with her attempts of telepathy because Kakashi didn't say a word about it. He probably thought that it was weird that she was proving so much information to this client, but it wasn't like she could have gotten out of saying anything either. So, she weighed her options and figured that a little oversharing may grant them a higher pay at the end of the mission.
"Thank you, I appreciate the compliment."
Amaya turned to the two genin behind her, finally noticing that their troublesome blond wasn't there to complete the trio. She thought to herself that that was why she could get a few words out to the man without being interrupted and it shouldn't have taken her this long to realize that the boy was gone. Maybe she just didn't want to acknowledge it because she was enjoying the quiet tones everyone had instead of the usual boisterous ones.
"So, where is the missing part of the trio?" Amaya asked turning around to look at the two genin behind her.
Both just shrugged as Sakura looked down and started to pick off invisible lint from her outfit. Amaya placed one of her hands on her hips and waited for one of the two to give her a verbal answer. Luckily, Sasuke caught on and Amaya received the information she was curious about.
"I don't know where he is right now, but it was his job to follow the actress and keep her safe for the time being so we could come get you or Kakashi-sensei."
Amaya would have smirked at the smartass comment Sasuke put towards the end of his answer clearly taking a little jab at both of his sensei's, but she didn't want to seem like there wasn't a clear order of who was in charge with the clients. She knew that Sandayu had no doubt it was her and Kakashi, but people were always weird when they worked with nin so she wanted to make sure that everything ran smoothly during the duration of their mission.
The older kunoichi scratched her forehead with her thumb, debating whether to leave now or later to go find Naruto, but figured that he wasn't in any real danger as long as he was still in the Land of Fire. However, in the back of her mind she had her thoughts nagging at her with what Kisame told her, but she shoved them down knowing that it was too soon for him to make a move.
So, Amaya decided to see what the rest of the group was going to do and then go find Naruto to make sure he was still doing okay. If anyone could protect the actress, Amaya had no doubt Naruto could. Amaya bowed to the older man apologizing that they were missing one from their group and Kakashi followed suit, but Sandayu just waved his hands and claimed that there wasn't anything to apologize for. He started to proclaim how he was happy that a capable person was looking over the actress.
"Amaya-sensei… I figured that you are coming with us on this mission, but are you going to be group leader or is Kakashi-sensei the group leader?" Sakura asked timidly.
Amaya didn't have an answer to that and looked at Kakashi who was as nonchalant as ever. She hated that the man always made her presume things or be the one to speak. Sometimes she enjoyed it, but usually, it got on her nerves. The kunoichi just had to remind herself that when the time counted, she knew Kakashi would step up. But for now, she would get her small revenge on her friend from putting her into this predicament.
"From my knowledge, it will be Kakashi-sensei" Amaya remarked, not looking at Sakura but instead, keeping her eyes trained on Kakashi's.
She could make out the man licking his lips under his mask as if he realized what Amaya had done to him. He was now the one who was going to be forced to answer all new questions from the group and the people who hired them. Amaya sent Kakashi a look as he raised his eyebrows at her. Amaya, 1, Kakashi, 0.
"This is the first Princess Gale movie that we have planned to film abroad. So, we hire people to look out for us along the way, but as you can see, your genin easily dispatched our stuntmen and bodyguards for the task… so the shinobi of Konoha are more than up for the responsibility…" The director sighed.
"Yes… Thank you" Kakashi said, scratching the back of his neck, trying to stay out of the lime light.
"So, we wanted you more to escort us there instead of being a bodyguard, even though your group is capable of both. The less attention we can have on Miss Fujikaze, the better" Sandayu said.
Amaya nodded her head at the older gentleman and let Kakashi handle talking to the director. She stood against a corkboard in-between Kakashi, who was leaning up against it, and Sakura who was sitting down. Sasuke was on the other side of Sakura with his hands crossed, looking as bored as always. However, watching the black-haired genin, she couldn't help but softly smile when she noticed that every so often he would look around and be enthralled with the movie making process around him.
With as many missions as she had completed, Amaya had to admit that this was a first for her in that she was invited to the movie set an actor was filming at. Typically, when she had to escort or protect a celebrity of some sort, she was never allowed behind scenes and had to do her job away from her client—which was always risky. However, Amaya turned her head when she heard Sakura verbally gasp as she was looking at a picture tacked to the cork board behind Amaya.
The blue-haired kunoichi looked down and took in the picture that Sakura was talking about. They were huge pillars of ice that stood taller than buildings. There looked like there was a rainbow-like gleam coming off from the snow, but that could have been her imagination. She figured that those pillars were one of the main attractions of the Land of Snow given that they just looked so unusual.
"That's called the rainbow cliff and it's in the Land of Snow" a man spoke from behind Sasuke.
Turning her head to take in the appearance of the man, Amaya couldn't help but realize that it was one of the main leads for the Princess Gale movies. She was surprised that he came over and said anything at all. Amaya had to hold back a laugh when she watched Sakura take in who was talking to her.
"That's the type of guy you like?"
Amaya felt warm air hit her ear and she would have tried to put some distance between the person if she didn't know it was Kakashi who was whispering to her so no one else could hear.
"No… I just liked his portrayal of the character in the movie. However, it doesn't beat the original book that the story line is adapted from" Amaya shrugged her shoulder's.
"That was what I was afraid of… but when did you get a chance to see the movie already?"
"I went to the late night showing last night. Like you told the genin, it was research about our clients" Amaya said winking at Kakashi, him catching her drift.
"Well, its lucky that you got a chance to see it."
"When we get back from our mission I'll take you. It may be cheaper then anyway… given that it would have been out for a little bit then."
Amaya nodded her head to Kakashi and he slightly titled his head down to match her motion. She didn't know why she placed herself out there like that and invited to go to the movie again, alone with Kakashi, but she figured that teammates should bond and get to know each other. Especially since there was a never-ending date of how long she would be on this assignment an not in the Anbu.
"The Land of Snow is a far way to travel just to get some shot of the scenery… Couldn't you just build the props here and not have to leave the village? That would save you both time and money…" Sasuke interrupted asking nonchalantly.
"That is true, but when Sandayu, actress Yukie's manager suggested the place, the director would have been crazy to turn that offer down" The assistant director exclaimed.
What the boy said however, peaked Amaya's curiosity. It was one thing for a director to come up with a location and want to film there, but he had no ideas about the Land of Snow until the client's manager brought it up. It typically wasn't any of the manager's business as to where the location of the movie was going to be filmed. Amaya sent Kakashi a curious look and he seemed to be on the same page as her. Something was out of place here, and Amaya just hoped that it wasn't something that was going to get her or the rest of her team injured—or worse, killed.
"Is that why you are going? For these glaciers?" Sakura asked.
"Yes, apparently the glaciers are supposed to give off these beautiful and vibrant rainbows in the Spring—"
"That's just a rumor" Kakashi said, cutting off the assistant director.
Everyone looked at Kakashi, but Amaya stayed still assessing the situation. There was tension that started to fill the air and she knew that she wasn't the only one feeling it when Kakashi spoke up again.
"It is only a rumor that the rainbow glacier shines in seven colors during the spring… I say this because the season of spring does not visit that land, it is perpetually always in the season of winter with blizzards that come out of nowhere."
"You speak as if you have been there before, Kakashi-san" The director sat back in his chair and tested the white haired nin.
Amaya could tell from Kakashi's body language that he didn't take to kindly to the fact that the director was asking him personal questions. Not only that, but as time went on, Amaya could tell that Kakashi just didn't like the man.
"Yes… a long time ago…" Kakashi scratched the back of his neck and raised his eyebrows giving the impression of a fake smile.
Amaya glance at Kakashi who gave her a look in return stating that he would fill her in on the details later. All Amaya could really think about, besides the fact that Kakashi had been to the land they are traveling too, was that the Land of Snow was for sure, going to be cold. She involuntarily shuddered and couldn't believe that Kakashi didn't pack anything else than the heavier shirt he was wearing, given that he had been to the foreign land before.
"What is all the commotion that is going on over here?"
Sakura reaches out and grasps Amaya's wrist, unable to contain herself. It was no other than the heartthrob character that most girls fell in love with. The blue-haired kunoichi snorted through her nose slightly when she saw that Sakura was completely smitten with the actor who calls himself Michy.
"Well, little lady, the other thing you have to worry about is that the Land of Snow is a poor country… at least from what I have heard about it."
Amaya took a deep breath in and held her tongue. She hated people who were above middle class and looked down on those less fortunate. Maybe it stemmed from coming from a childhood home where it took every ounce of strength to make ends meet, but she just didn't like tolerating those who thought it was a negative thing; how some places lacked money compared to others.
"And who do we have here?" Michy said casually, giving Amaya the up and down.
It took everything to keep her from throwing up in her mouth. Yes, the man had an attractive face, but he had the personally of a troll. Amaya had made her mind up after the first remark he had made to the group. She knew that Michy was the type of person who should always keep their mouth shut and just strut around with their looks instead.
Amaya faked a smile and answered, "I am a part of the group of Konoha shinobi that will be escorting Miss Fujikaze to the land of snow. My name is Amaya Yoshida," Amaya bowed her head slightly, trying to feign courtesy.
She hoped that she wouldn't have to deal with the actor much, but she knew she shouldn't hope for that because things never went her way on missions. Especially regarding people she that wouldn't be leaving her alone.
"I must say that this is a surprise to have such a beautiful woman escorting us. It is a shame that you chose a line of work like this for yourself."
"Thank you for the compliment, but—"
"Please, call me Michy."
"Thank you, Michy" Amaya was short with her response and placed emphasis on Michy's name.
The man smirked at her and placed his hand on his hip. Amaya knew better then to let this man get under her skin, because that was obviously what he was trying to do. It was always her luck that there had to be some self-absorbed, ego-inflated man that she always had to work with on these types of escort and protection missions.
"You don't have to thank me. I am all about appreciating the finer things in life… Amaya."
Amaya gave Michy a stressed smile not liking where this conversation was headed. She knew that he was trying to reference other things and the conversation was about to head towards him making innuendos at her. She knew that she could take him in a fight, she just didn't want to deal with sexual harassment while she was on a mission.
However, before she could say anything to deny Michy to go any further with his comments, she watched as Kakashi pressed himself off the corkboard and stood beside her. He placed his hands in his pockets and spread his stance a little wider than normal, placing him slightly in front of the blue-haired kunoichi. Amaya couldn't help but notice the tension growing in the air between the two, and the slight standoff that the two men were having. Worried that Kakashi may do something that would hinder the mission, the kunoichi placed a hand softly on the white-hair nin's back.
Amaya's gesture seemed to smooth out the rough air between the two men, as if her hand on Kakashi's back was enough to hold him there. To her surprise though, Amaya could feel the tensed muscles of Kakashi's back. She was thankful that he stepped in between the two of them, but at the same time she knew, that he knew, that she could take care of herself. That just sparked the question of why Kakashi was acting the way he was.
"But if Miss Yukie's manager was the person to suggest the location, why is she trying to run away?" Sakura asked completely oblivious of what was transpiring between her two sensei's and the attractive actor.
"Because she is a spoiled little girl—"
"That's not quite true, Michy. She is a wonderful actor with talent that I could only dream of capturing" the director remarked.
"Yukie is the only person that I know of who was born to act" Sandayu chimed in.
"Granted, to Michy's point, she has been acting weird ever since it was mentioned that we will be filming the next installment in the Land of Snow…" the assistant director stroked his chin, puzzled.
To Amaya, something still wasn't adding up. When it was mentioned that Sandayu was the person who referred the area, that raised a red flag. Another one was raised when the actress's co-workers kept praising her for being one of the best actresses they have seen, yet, she was running away and shirking her responsibilities. The details coming to light put Amaya on the edge and she was bound and determined to figure out what was going on because secrets were never good.
"Okay, Sakura and Sasuke. Let's meet up later so you two can go pack your things for the trip. Once we all meet up we will go find Naruto…"
Both genin rose and nodded their head at their female sensei. Before they took off, however, Amaya made another remark.
"Sasuke?"
"Yeah?"
"Can you grab Naruto a coat or something on your way back? I know you pass by his place and it will be convenient to leave right after we not only locate him, but Yukie as well."
Sasuke nodded his head at Amaya's request even if a brief look of annoyance crossed his face. Sakura followed directly after Sasuke and the blue-haired Kunoichi watched after them to make sure they found their way okay. Amaya started to stroll around the storage house, taking in the different props and sets. She also noted the men that were working on taking down the lighting rigs. She didn't know how she felt about having to be strung up so high every day for work with only a rope to hold you there, but she figured that people thought she was probably the crazy one with the profession that she held.
When Amaya was telling the genin to go pack their stuff to get ready for departure, Kakashi had taken that moment to get some of the paperwork signed for their mission. Amaya swung her arms back and forth and was thankful that she placed Kakashi in the role of group leader. Generally, she would jump at the prospect of being the leader, but, it just didn't seem right in this setting. It was Kakashi's genin group after all. Plus, all the paper work that had to be filled out was mundane to say the least. She had always thought that the paper work for missions was stupid, but it was on a whole other level when it came to just typical shinobi work.
Amaya stopped in front of a set piece that looked like it was going to be used to mimic the ocean and the crashing waves on a boat. It was a darker scene, one that would catch a boat during a storm and the captain and crew would have to work together and preserver through the challenge mother nature presented them with in order to survive. That was why Amaya always enjoyed books and movies. They transported her to another world that she never even knew existed—it was fascinating.
"There you are. I saw the kids leave but I thought you left with them…"
Amaya heard the unmistakable tone of Michy's voice. She internally cringed, turning around and placing a fake smile on her lips.
"I figured that since we have some time before this—"
"Thank you for the offer, Michy… but I must decline."
"You don't even know what I am offering!" Michy exclaimed.
"I can make a pretty good guess as to what I think it is" Amaya shrugged her shoulders and politely excused herself.
However, she turned around and took about two steps before she felt Michy tug forcefully on her wrist. It was enough to change her course, so she stopped and turned around. He tightened the grip on her wrist so it became uncomfortable, but not painful. She figured that she was stronger than the man who was trying to prevent her from leaving.
"You don't know what you are missing… Amaya… I know how to treat a woman right…" Michy leaned forward and blew hot air onto Amaya's face.
The blue-haired kunoichi resisted the urge to back away from him. Not only was he too close for comfort, but his breath also reeked of day-old fish.
"Again, I am trying to politely decline your offer, Sir" the kunoichi stated, trying to see if formalities would help her get out of the situation before she had to resort to force.
Michy placed more pressure on Amaya's wrist. It was borderline painful now, but she had both dealt with and endured worse. Therefore, she wasn't panicking because there was a surefire way to get out of the situation she was in. However, as she tried to wiggle her wrist free, Michy tried once again to pull her towards him.
This time, he only managed to jerk the top of Amaya's body because she was prepared for the motion. Her feet stayed firmly planted in the position they were in when she first swiveled around due to Michy having a hold of her wrist. The kunoichi sighed knowing that it would reflect poorly on her, but she was getting sick of dealing with the actor in front of her.
"Girl, I would be the best damn thing that will ever happen to you… No girl in their right mind would deny me… you aren't even that pretty… and you're probably an even worse lay. I can't imagine what that white-haired nin thinks about you—" Michy barked.
In a flash, the pressure on Amaya's wrist eased up. She could feel Michy's fingers still encircling her flesh, but it was almost as if it was a tender touch instead. Looking to his hand, that's when Amaya saw Kakashi's gloved hand in a death grip around Michy's own wrist. She knew Kakashi had a strong grip on the actor not only because Michy eased up on holding Amaya's wrist, but because Kakashi's own knuckles were becoming white.
"I think she told you no thank you." Kakashi said with malice lined in his voice.
Amaya had never heard Kakashi take such a dark tone with anyone, and it sent shivers down her own spine. She unconsciously moved closer to Kakashi, knowing that he wasn't there to harm her, only there to get her out of the situation and protect her.
"She was the one—"
"I think you should let go of her wrist. Weren't you ever taught not to touch a woman like that?"
Amaya would have given anything to see the glare Kakashi gave Michy because it seemed as if Michy's face drained of all blood and fear took its place. Instantly, Michy tried to release Amaya's wrist but winced because it seemed as if Kakashi placed an even stronger hold on the actor as he moved. Once Amaya was freed, Kakashi released the actor and Michy instantly started rubbing his wrist.
"Fucking shinobi… I will be reporting this—"
"And all I have to say is that you were trying to sexually harass my comrade because you thought she was weak, being a kunoichi. I'll let you know that she could have snapped you in two, but decided that it was in your best interest that she didn't, and tried to be polite. So, if you go to the Hokage, whose story do you think will be more believable? Yours? Or ours… not including the dozen witnesses over this storage faculty."
Michy opened his mouth to speak but didn't have any retort to what Kakashi said. So, he closed his mouth and stormed off clutching his wrist to his chest and rubbing it. Amaya saw Kakashi take a deep breath as if he was steading his nerves and he turned around, tenderly taking her wrist in his hand and stroking the skin there with his thumb.
"Kakashi… I'm fine—"
"Next time, just get out of there. If you are getting harassed don't try to play the nice guy. I'll always have your back…"
"Thank you…"
"No problem." Kakashi said, sliding his thumb across Amaya's skin one more time before letting her wrist drop
He was about to leave, thinking that the situation had ended, but Amaya placed a hand on his forearm causing him to look at her.
"I mean it Kakashi. Thank you for getting me out of there… I knew I could take him but since he is technically a client I thought that it would be better if I took care of it in a nicer manner…"
"I understand that. But Amaya—"
"I know… next time deal with it up front. You got my back, right? In case this happens again?" Amaya questioned.
"Always."
