Wammyman: I give you my most sincere apology for taking this long to update. Wrapping up college took up a lot of my time. Right now I am working a full-time internship while studying for some tough exams. I hope you enjoy this chapter.
Chapter 11: Kaito the Babysitter
The next day, Kaito sat on a bench of white wood in the park. He laid back as he looked up at the sun shining through a few white clouds drifting over the city. There was also a soft breeze blowing through his hair with a slight scent of the forest. Not too far away were the screams of Lambo and I-Pin. They were running around playing tag. Nana was out grocery shopping with Fuuta and she asked Kaito to look after the toddlers for a while. Kaito didn't mind. After all, it was his one day off of the week and the only other thing he had to do was homework. He was fine with watching the two youngsters play tag together. However, Kaito would have to join in on the fun at some point.
Once Lambo and I-Pin caught their breath, they climbed onto the red, wooden seats on the swing set. By leaning back and forth at the right pace, I-Pin was soaring high in no time. Lambo on the other hand just couldn't get moving no matter how hard he tried. Kaito got behind Lambo and said: "How about I give you a push."
"No," Lambo screamed, "Lambo can do it alone!"
"I'll just give you one push," assured Kaito.
"Fine," Lambo muttered reluctantly. So Kaito pushed the swing so that it moved a little more than a few feet forward. This got Lambo filled with excitement.
"Again, again," shouted Lambo. Kaito pushed Lambo a little harder. The swing went higher and Lambo got happier.
"Higher, higher," cheered Lambo. After Kaito pushed Lambo again, something fell out of Lambo's hair. I was a small red yo-yo with a white string. When Kaito saw it, he couldn't dodge it so he took a slight bump to the forehead. Kaito pushed Lambo again; more things fell out of this hair. This time it was gumballs and suckers. After they pelted Kaito on the face, he gave yet another push. What fell out of Lambo's hair this time was something small, round and pink. Luckily, Kaito was able to duck before it could hit him. Seconds later, there was an explosion. Hearing it made Kaito so shocked that he forgot about Lambo until the swing hit him in the gut.
The impact gave Kaito an ache that brought him to his knees. Bumping into Kaito also caused something else to fall out of Lambo's hair. It looked like a giant purple tube. Soon after it touched the ground, Lambo went face fist into it. Once Lambo was inside, I-Pin jumped off her swing and did not know about the tube until she was inside of it. As Kaito clutched his stomach and fought the pain while trying not to hurl, he faced the ground making him unable to see the kids enter the tube. His moans were unable to block out the sound of a weapon firing.
Kaito looked up and only saw pink smoke. Slowly but surely, it cleared up revealing two people. A white teenage boy with black hair and green eyes along with an Asian teenage girl dressed in white with long black hair braided in twin-tails.
"Wh-who are you guys," asked Kaito fighting the lingering soreness.
"Oh no," cried the teenage girl, "I have to get to Kawahira's before the noodles stick!"
So the girl picked up her giant silver case by the handle and sprinted out of the park.
"Wait," shouted Kaito, "have you seen two little kids?" After getting onto one knee, Kaito felt a head going under his arm followed by a hand around his shoulder. Kaito noticed it was the teenage boy helping him up.
"If you don't mind my asking," said the boy, "what's your name?"
"Kaito Domoto," Kaito answered.
"I see," said the teenage boy unknowingly thinking out loud, "this must be the time you switched places with the young Vongola."
"Young Von-what," asked a confused Kaito. The teenage boy could only freeze in shock as Kaito's words echoed through his mind.
"Crap," he thought, "I said too much!"
"Oh, never mind," replied the teenage boy, "how about I help you find those kids?"
"Thanks," said Kaito, "I'd appreciate that."
Once Kaito was able to stand on his own, the two boys left the park for the city. They jogged at a steady pace and constantly scanned their surroundings. Every so often Kaito would shout: "Lambo, I-Pin, where are you!?" The teenage boy remained silent for he knew shouting was pointless. He simply pretended to look around to buy time. Suddenly, the teenage boy spotted a familiar face.
"Hey Kaito," he said, "There's that girl from earlier. Maybe she's seen the kids."
"Good thinking," Kaito replied, "let's ask her." So they quickly crossed the street to where the girl in white was. Unfortunately, not paying attention to their surroundings caused them to crash and fall onto someone who jogging on the sidewalk. Everyone ended up tangled together on the concrete.
"Hey, what gives," shouted a young man's voice, "you interfered with my training!"
"Sorry," said Kaito, "we're just looking for a couple of kids I'm babysitting." When Kaito was back on his feet, it was revealed that he bumped into a young man with very, very short white hair, grey eyes, and whore a white bandage over his nose.
"I see," said the man with white hair, "would you like some extra help?"
"Actually yes," replied Kaito, "thank you." So the three guys strolled along keeping an eye open for the kids. Kaito's throat was sore from all the yelling and the girl in white was nowhere to be seen. In the midst of his search, Kaito heard a soft sliding. He turned around and a silver trash can was on the sidewalk. After walking a little more, he heard it again. Kaito turned his head back and saw the trash can again, maintaining the same distance from him.
"Hey guys," he whispered, "I think we're being followed." The two other guys looked at the trash can Kaito subtly pointed at.
"What should we do," whispered the white haired teen?
"See whose inside," answered Kaito. So Kaito and the young man he just met tiptoed to the now shaking trashcan.
Suddenly, the lid popped off and out came a teenage girl dressed in a well-made raccoon suit. This girl managed to tackle Kaito the ground.
"What have you done to Tsuna," the girl shouted.
"Nothing," answered a struggling Kaito, "we're just doing an exchange program."
"A what," asked the girl loosening her grip?
"Oh, that's right," said the white haired man, "Kyoko mentioned a new student that switched schools with Sawada for the month. I didn't know it was you."
"Thank God," said the girl with a huge sigh of relief, "when I saw you through Tsuna's window last night, I could only think the worst."
"Haru," asked the white haired man, "what were you doing near Sawada's house?"
"Oh," the girl replied shooting up on her feet with a crimson face, "just going for a walk."
"Yeah right," Kaito teased standing back up.
"Shut up," hissed Haru, "let's focus on the real issue. How on Earth could you lose two precious babies?"
Suddenly, everyone heard a poof. When Kaito, Haru and the white haired man turned their heads, they saw Lambo standing where the black haired teen was.
"Kaito," spoke Lambo, "I'm hungry." Kaito was overwhelmed with relief.
"Okay Lambo," he said walking to the little guy before picking him up, "let's just find I-Pin, then we can go home and see what Mama has to make." Lambo cheered at the top of his lungs after hearing this.
"Kaito," shouted a young girl's voice from the corner of the nearest building. Soon after, I-Pin came running to Kaito.
"Oh, I-Pin," replied Kaito as she jumped into his arms next to Lambo, "I was so worried. Let's go home."
"Not so fast," Haru protested, "I'll be taking those two home. You can't be trusted with children."
"Oh come on Haru," defended the white haired man.
"Ryohei," yelled Haru, "he lost those two."
"But they're here now safe and sound," Ryohei pointed out.
"That's not the point," hissed Haru. As the two teens went on arguing, Kaito saw this as his chance to escape, so he took it very quietly.
"Man," Kaito thought, "Tsuna puts up with a lot of weird people. Staying at my place must be a nice break for him."
Wammyman: Oh if only Kaito knew what Tsuna went through, huh? So now that you're up to speed on Kaito's shenanigans, let's switch back to Tsuna and the gang to see how they handle their new mermaid friends. Until next time – Wammyman
