I have returned. I hope you guys enjoy this chapter. I had a terrible case of writers block. Please don't kill me! No need for torches and pitchforks quite yet.
The sky had begun to grow dark overhead.
"We will stop here for tonight," Gandalf calls. I sit down to let my weary feet rest.
Not long after I take my seat, I'm surrounded by the hobbits.
"Hello," I smile at them.
Pipin tilts his head. "We would like to sing a song for you Lady Hermione," he says. My smile broadens.
"I would love that."
"Would you... sing for us as well?" Merry asks.
"Of course," I say.
The song that they're singing is familiar. It's a poem. Bilbo's poem at the end of The Hobbit. I realize that he must have passed the song along. I sing softly with them.
"Thank you," I smile. It's my turn now. What song should I sing?
"I'm going to sing Ave Maria," I say.
"Ave Maria, gratia plena.
Maria, gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Ave, ave dominus,
Dominus tecum.
Benedicta tu in mulieribus,
Et benedictus
Et benedictus fructus ventris,
Ventris tui, Jesus.
Ave Maria.
Ave Maria, Mater Dei,
Ora pro nobis peccatoribus,
Ora, ora pro nobis;
Ora, ora pro nobis peccatoribus,
Nunc et in hora mortis,
In hora mortis nostrae.
In hora, hora mortis nostrae,
In hora mortis nostrae.
Ave Maria."
"Thank you, Lady Hermione," The hobbits say. I smile softly at them in return.
"Just Hermione," I say. It may just be me, but I feel a bond beginning to form here.
