AN: Wow...it's been a very long time it seems since I've added to any of my stories...or even been on here at all. I hope my new chapters this summer (I'm hoping to get out at least five but my life has taken an unfamiliar turn) will generate some new followers or viewers at the very least. I think that most of all this has turned into a self-journey though and I appreciate everyone who is along for the ride :)
MYLA / BATGIRL
"Bruce."
"Yes?"
"...what was that?!"
"What was what?" He said.
I held my face in astonishment. "They basically said give us your money and you said 'Hey, you know what? I think that would be a splendid idea!' and walked away like nothing happened!"
He rolled his eyes. "I couldn't have really done anything right then, could I? No. Not without making an unnecessary scene and that usually doesn't go over well."
I huffed. "Well, at the very least you could've asked how Bane was involved in all this."
"I'm guessing that since they're the people trying to get my money that they wouldn't have been very forthcoming about anything else. Now, calm down before we go into the ballroom. We have to get Tayden and then we're leaving."
"I have to find Jerry. I think I'm done with the party for tonight but I want to say goodbye at least so I don't seem like a total jerk."
He nodded then left me to go find Tayden. My guess is that he wandered near the boat races in the fountain outside.
I started to wander into the sea of dancing suits but I already spotted Jerry at the bar. Wow...I've only been in touch with him two times and he already knows to wait for me right where all the booze is. I should really start going to AA...
"Hey I saved a seat for you," he smiled.
I winced. "I'm sorry to do this to you after you waited so long but I think I'm gonna go. Something came up and I-"
"Really? Is he making you go? Because it sure looks to me like you wanna stay right here and have a nice time drinking and chatting with me."
I smiled sadly. "I do want to stay but-"
"-so stay! You're friend can leave now because that's what he wants to do and you can stay a little longer then I can get you home. See? Everything works out." He gave his convincing smile again and I knew that I really wanted to finish our date.
"Stay right where you are. I'll go tell my friend I'm not leaving," I said as I inched away to go find Bruce.
"Hurry back!"
Crap. Where did Bruce go? I thought I just saw him on the dancefloor. As I wandered closer to the bathroom he popped out.
"Oh, Bruce you scared me!"
"I haven't found Tayden yet...have you seen him?"
"Yeah about that...I was talking to Jerry and I think I'm actually gonna stay. This party is what I needed to get out of the house and I'm really enjoying myself so..."
"Fine. Go. I'll find Tayden and we'll leave."
"Oh so now you're gonna get huffy-"
"Go. Before I get really mad, just leave."
I roll my eyes and walk away. It isn't that big of a deal. I could've helped him find Tayden first but he had to get all grumpy with me. You would think that he would be the alcoholic in this friendship. I think a couple of hard drinks could really sort him out. I mean, we've only been here for two or three hours tops! I realize we only went to meet this crazy person who's after his money but I want to pretend we're normal people for one night in my life...
"Hey! I'm back...did you keep my seat warm?" I ask Jerry.
"Yup, with a nice shot of tequila. Did I tell you just how sexy you look in that dress? You look like a million bucks."
I blush. "Thanks. I don't think I've ever paid for anything as expensive as this dress was. I'm thinking about returning it tomorrow."
"How much was it, darling?"
I laugh. "I don't think you're supposed to tell people that."
Raising his eyebrows he said, "You are when they're looking to buy it from you."
I choked on my drink. "Buy it? For what?"
Laughing he said, "What I do with it is my business! How much?"
"Well...I paid two thousand dollars for it but with the resale price-"
"Okay, five thousand dollars it is."
"What?! No way! I was gonna say five hundred since I used it already."
"Darling, it's worth more to me that you used it." He smiled.
"You're not into something creepy, are you? You're not reselling it to perverts who can sniff the sweat off of it or anything?"
"No, I'm not. But I could say yes if it makes me more interesting."
Grinning I say, "Fine. Two thousand dollars and you can have it."
"Five thousand."
"Three thousand and that's my final offer."
"Fine."
"Fine."
We made jokes and laughed the entire evening. I've never had so much fun before...well...in a long time. When he asked me a question or made a comment it didn't feel pressured or stressed. It was normal and released me from so many years of self-hatred into something that I felt I could grow into. It was three in the morning before we realized that we were among the last people there. I stood up to use the lady's room before leaving and realized just how drunk I was.
I must've had a lot more than I thought I had.
"Do you need help getting there?" Jerry chuckled.
"No, no. I'm good. WHOOO!" I tripped and fell in his arms...how convenient.
He laughed, leaned down, and kissed me from my lips down to my arms and across my neck.
"Sorry, had to catch all the good luck from a falling angel."
"You are so full of shit," I smiled.
"How about we get you home...maybe I could come with?"
I stopped to consider whether that was a good decision and decided that I honestly don't care at this point.
"Sure, then you can take off this dress and see if it's actually worth what you paid for," I said seductively in his ear.
"Well, then. There's no time for me to waste now is there?" He hoisted me up and carried me to the street to get a taxi. I was in complete bliss.
Sex was something that always took me away to a different place. As me and Jer moved in and out of each other, I felt like I was on fire...in a good way. In a way that made me feel like I was in control of my life again. In a way that made me happy to the point that I wasn't happy before. It all came together for me. Because of how many drinks were in me, the memories of the night came in flashes.
How he ravaged every spot on my body...how he slammed his lips to mine in urgency...how we fit perfectly...and fell together afterwards...sweating and breathing hot breaths.
How will I go back to an ordinary day tomorrow? How does someone spend a day in heaven and come back to Earth? I'll worry about that when I get to it. For now, this is wonderland.
I woke up and Jer was already up and making coffee.
"Hi, angel. It's nice to see you awake...with an obvious hangover." He chuckled.
"Ugh, the world is too...much today. I don't think I'll be able to do anything with how much light is coming in my window."
"That's fine. I need to head out because I have a meeting but I wanted to make sure I said good morning before I left and give you some good food. I left some pancakes on the table."
Smiling, I gave him a swift kiss and said, "Thank you, I had so much fun last night. You better get going though so you're not late."
He laughed and said, "You can't be late if you're the boss."
"By the way," he said. "Call me."
He kissed me again but deeper then left with a wink.
Sigh...
As I was getting dressed I realized how messy my place was. I'm sure that looked awful. I didn't even think about cleaning...is that a tampon on the floor? Good God. I should really hire a professional cleaner someday.
As I was starting to straighten out the sheets on my bed I heard a clunk on the floor. Crap, it's my cell phone...and Bruce has called me eighteen times.
He's going to be so mad.
