The next couple of weeks I completed all of my course books. The most interesting subjects turned out to be the ones I had expected charms, transfiguration and potions. Charms varied from day to day spells to highly obscure magic. Where in one hand all the magic used in household work mostly consists of Charms. In the books Fidelius was said to be one of the toughest spells and that spell is also a charm.
As for transfiguration this mainly involved changing the base components of an object. In this subject the more in- depth knowledge the person have the better and less taxing the transfiguration will be. For example if you want to change a wooden box to silver box, the more understanding you have of silver the better and easier the transfiguration will be .
Potions from the books I have read looks to be the most versatile. Potions as Snape had said in the first book can be used for poison as well as bottling luck. The course books provided little in the way of core knowledge like the effects of the stir of the potion as well as the ingredients reaction to one other. I had decided to ask Dobby to bring me some starters potions books as they might provide some insight.
During these weeks Dobby turned out to be invaluable. The little elf was the only reason I wasn't doing chores all day. After completing the list, Petunia had assigned me to prepare Breakfast and Dinner for the rest of the holidays. As well as the garden maintenance. Because of the presence of Petunia I had to make Dinner while Dobby did all the other chores of the house out of sight of the Dursleys before informing me.
In the meantime I also had Dobby drop a letter to Mcgonagall's office to transfer me to Runes and Arithmancy. Divination was a fool's class so I didn't want to waste my time there. As for care of magical creatures Hagrid is going to be our teacher this year. And the class in itself will be interesting. So I wouldn't mind having three extra classes.
Last night while Vernon and Dudley were out I also had Petunia sign my Hogsmead permission slip. At first she looked like she didn't want to do it but due to my better behavior the past couple of weeks she signed it.
I knew that Marge was going to arrive in the early August. I had no interest in spending time with that vile woman. The blood protections required Harry to spend at least a month with the Dursleys. I had arrived here at June 24. And as it was 29th of July today I had decided to spend the remaining holidays at the leaky cauldron.
After Dinner I approached Vernon cautiously " Uncle Vernon can I talk to you for a moment "
He grumpily turns from the Tv" Yes what do you want"
I decided to skip to the main topic" My friend has invited me to spend the rest of the holidays with his family. So can I leave tomorrow? ".
Vernon narrows his eyes at me " So you'll leave for the rest of the summer". At my nod he started thinking on the one hand he can get rid of me early, while letting me go was also something I wanted. In the end spending less time with me wins out as he grunts irritably "Fine go. And only return next year".
I hurriedly left the room before he can change his mind. I spend the rest of the night packing my trunk and making sure there was nothing else left in the room. Then I had Dobby place my trunk back in the cupboard under the stairs so that Petunia can find it there when she return it to me tomorrow morning.
The next morning I woke up early and got ready to leave. By the time I arrived downstairs only Petunia was up drinking a cup of tea. As she saw me approaching she hands me my trunk and says" So you're leaving".
Without waiting for a reply she continued "Make sure to not come back on Christmas " and gave me a curt nod and left.
Arriving outside I took out my wand from my trunk and held it in front of me. Immediately with a bang a bus appeared in front of me. Before Stan the conductor can start his greeting I hands him a galleon saying "Leaky cauldron and keep the change" and walked past him to the nearest seat. After couple of stops we arrived at the Leaky cauldron with another bang and I left the bus with shaky feets.
