A/N, I might not be uploading from the lack of ideas but I'll see what I can do.

Chapter 11: A Special Day

Sabine woke up to Riley sleeping calmly, he had another fit last night but it doesn't seem to bother him. He's also been talking to Anne a lot recently but she didn't know about what. It was her Birthday, Sabine 17 and wondering what tricks Riley would pull or surprises he would bring.

Sabine checked on Riley one last time before going to get breakfast, he seemed peaceful so Sabine left her brother to sleep. She walked out her door to streamers showing a path, she followed it thinking about what could be on the other side. Sabine found her way out the Cargo doors into the fields.

"Happy birthday sis" Sabine jumped as Riley put her on his shoulders.

"Put me down, we're not kids anymore" Sabine laughed, she had forgotten how the day use to start. "I thought you were asleep"

"Good, the surprise still stands" Riley walked off towards Ezra's old tower.

"Everyone else will be there"

"Where?"

"You'll see"

After about 5 minutes they reached Ezra's tower, Sabine started to cry. The tower had banners hanging from the balcony, tables set up, cooking equipment and her friends were al standing with smug looks on her face besides Jack who was too busy trying to get some sort of mix right, he didn't notice her.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Everyone shouted.

"Happy birthday!" Jack shouted a bit late.

Riley put down Sabine and she ran to the crew giving them all a big hug.

"Thank you, all of you" Sabine still crying.

"It was Riley's idea" Anne trying to give him some credit.

Sabine turned around to see Riley helping Jack with what looked like pancake mix. Sabine ran over and hugged him from behind, he jumped and looked back to see what it was.

"Thank you" Sabine hugged him tight, she knew he tried to get everything like it was when they we're kids.

"Don't worry about it" Riley turned round so she could hug him properly. "Just wait until you see where we're going tonight"

Sabine let go and turned to talk to everyone while riley and Jack tried to make pancakes. Sabine walked up to Anne first and hugged her.

"Do you think those two will last long?"

"Probably not, but enjoy it while it lasts"

They heard a crash and turned to see Riley laughing and helping Jack up, he fell into the table while trying to not get burnt when lighting the fire for the stove.

"Don't laugh!" Jack snapped.

"Sure, you alright?" Riley still snickering.

"I'll be fine" the two went back to work.

"I think it'll last the day" Sabine let go and walked over to Ezra.

"Have you really never had a birthday party since the academy?" Ezra had sorrow on his face.

"No, when was your last birthday party?" Sabine smiled weakly.

"When my parents were still here" Ezra looked at the ground.

"I'm sorry" Sabine hugged him.

"It's fine, this is about you, not me" Ezra smiled then fell to the ground as he was zapped by Chopper. "Sorry Sabine, I'll talk later" then he chased after the orange droid.

Sabine walked over to Hera and Kanan who were talking about their next mission.

"Oh, happy birthday Sabine" Hera said a bit motherly.

"Happy birthday" Kanan turned round and was hugged by the Mandalorian. "Ok, this wasn't planned" Hera glared at him telling him to hug back so he did.

"Riley told me you were headed into Capital City tonight" Hera joined in with the hugging.

"I can't wait, Riley always has nice surprises"

"I can see why" Hera and Kanan walked to a bench.

Sabine turned around but was stooped after being wrapped in a back breaking hug by a purple beast.

"Not forgetting about me are you?" Zeb laughed.

"Of course not, you wouldn't let me" Sabine joined in the laughing.

"Now that's just hurtful, and happy birthday"

"Thanks Zeb" Zeb let go of Sabine and was about to talk but stopped when Ezra crashed into him.

"Damn it kid! Watch where you're going!"

"Sorry Zeb" Ezra got up and ran way when Zeb jumped up twice as fast.

Sabine walked towards a table and sat down. She looked around to see the wonderful family she had grown to love. But something was missing, Riley was her but her parents weren't.

"I'm sorry" Sabine just turned slowly to see Riley sit down next to her.

"For what?" Sabine knew what he was about to say, she stopped him. "Don't think about it, it'll make thing worse"

"We'll, I did grab a couple things when we went back home" Riley pulled out a small bag from behind him. Riley handed her a pink envelope. "Here you go, I'm sorry they weren't here to tell you themselves"

Riley got up to finish the pancakes. Sabine opened the envelope and pulled out a card. It was the last card she got from her parents, the year she left the academy. Sabine opened the card and started to cry again, she missed them.

Sabine,

Happy Birthday, I just wish you were here so we can celebrate together like old times. Riley started to set up the banners and streamers, he doesn't know that you won't be here this birthday. We would tell him but he looks like he doesn't want to break tradition. Happy Birthday Sabine, take care.

Love Mum and Dad.

Anne walked over to Sabine to comfort her. Anne sat down and let Sabine cry into her arm.

"I remember that card, it was the first time I ever heard of Riley." Anne hugged Sabine. "Come on, the pancakes are done"

Everyone sat down at a long table. It was Sabine on one side with Riley to her left and Anne to her right, Jack was sitting next to Anne. On the other side was Hera on the end with Kanan, Ezra then Zeb.

They ate some pancakes and told some stories, you could tell Riley was still haunted from that day but he just tried to brush it off. After they all had breakfast, Hera and Kanan went back to the cockpit, Zeb and Jack went to get some sleep while the 4 teens went to the top of the tower.

"It's peaceful up here" Sabine sat on the balcony floor with her chin on her railings.

"It's away from the empire, that's one reason why I chose this" Ezra sat down next to her.

"It's got a nice view, why don't we turn this into a hangout?" Anne sat down next to Sabine.

"It needs a lot of work. Lighting needs rewiring, pipes need replacing, then there's the dust and equipment" Riley walked around the room. "You must have lived here for a long time"

"Too long" Ezra looked at Sabine. "What's that in your hand?"

"It's the last card I got from my parents, Riley found it for me" Sabine looked at Riley who was looking at the Storm trooper helmets.

Riley saw all kind of helmets, but was more intrigued by a helmet that looked like it belonged to a death watch general.

"Ezra, where did you get this?" pointing at the grey helmet.

"I found it at the market, guy called Han solo forgot it at a bar, why?"

"I seen this helmet before" Riley walked away. "Never mind, it's yours"

"Riley, come sit down" Anne giggled at how Riley was pondering about.

"Fine" Riley sat down next to Anne, she put her head on his shoulder.

"We still need to have that talk" Anne whispered.

"We talked the other day" Riley protested.

"Doesn't count, we go interrupted by TIE fighters"

"Tonight, when we get back"

The four just sat there talking and sometime sitting in silence. The sat there or hours, eventually Riley and Sabine needed to leave. They separated and left for capital city.

When the siblings got there, Riley guided Sabine to a small restaurant. The restaurant had Mandalorian flags hung and had some fake armour out front.

"Why here?" Sabine was puzzled.

"Mando restaurant, just like home" Riley smiled and walked in, they sat down and a waitress came over.

"Hi Riley, good to see you here" the waitress smiled brightly.

"Hi Paula, been a while" Riley took off his helmet and smiled back. "This is Sabine, my sister"

"So you're why he's here. Riley is it her birthday?"

"Yes, why?"

"Because you don't bring people here for little reasons" Paula winked.

Sabine removed her helmet and put it beside her.

"What's that supposed to mean" Sabine gave Riley a strange look.

"Riley had girls hit on him before but he never gave interest"

"Why?"

"Because like Ezra, I never wanted to get close to anyone. I never wanted to feel what I felt that day again" Riley grabbed a book from his belt. "Here, my present"

"I'll leave you to it" Paula walked away with a smile on her face, she could see how much Riley cared.

"What is it?" Sabine opened up the book to reveal drawings, her drawings since she was little. "Riley, this is great!"

"I knew you would like it"

Sabine looked through the book quietly after they ordered, she forgotten how much she used to like art. Drawings of soldiers and ships, family and friends.

After they eaten, they began to walk back to the Ghost. Sabine thanked Riley for the day and the meal, she also looked through the book a lot saying how she's going to make so many paintings with the book.

When they got back Sabine hugged Riley one last time before going to sleep. Riley walked into the common room to see Anne sleep, he didn't want to wake her but she wanted to talk. After a couple minutes Riley woke Anne.

"Finally, I got bored" Anne smiled at Riley.

"How long were you waiting?" Riley sat next to Anne who lied down against Riley.

"Since you left" Anne was almost asleep so she made it quick.

"Are you ready? I mean, you have been strange lately" Anne looked up to Riley who put his arm around her.

"Yes, I think I am" Riley looked down into Anne's purple eyes.

"I never noticed they were purple" Riley lied back looking exhausted.

"Really? Well I guess you know now" Anne got up a little then kissed Riley on his cheek, he didn't react. "Riley?"

He was asleep so she just got in a more comfortable position and fell asleep too.
