Jace POV
"How long is this going to take Magnus," Jace growled for the twentieth time in the past hour. He had been pacing none stop around the institute's library as Magnus pored over an 'accurate' map of the world. The high Warlock of Brooklynn sent Alec a quick look over his shoulder, and he rose from his position on an overstuffed couch and griped Jace by the arm.
"We're going on a walk," Alec stated, tiredness wafting him as he dragged his Parabatai out the large wooden doors. "Magnus doesn't like it when you pace around him, especially when he is looking for your girlfriend. Anyway, you need some air, and not the kind where you go to a Werewolf bar and beat your emotions out."
"I don't see a problem with that suggestion, actually you could join me. I'm sure Luke wouldn't mind," Jace stated, then stopped mid stride. He realized that they both didn't know Clary was even missing, since she had been at the institute for training over three months. "What should I tell them?"
Alec seemed to take notice of Jace's change in tone, and gave him his signature one shoulder shrug. "Don't, not yet at least. If we can bring her back without any issues, then why should we worry them?"
"Clary wouldn't want me to keep them out of the loop." Jace shoved a hand through his hair, and could feel it shaking, from his bottled up furry. It was a wonder he hadn't snapped at anyone with the seething rage that pumped with new vigor every second Clary spent with Sebastian.
"I need you to make me a promise," Alec interrupting his furry. "You need to swear on the Angel to me that you won't go with Sebastian, no matter what he says. We can't lose you to him again especially the way he took over you last time."
"No."
"What do you mean 'no'?"
"I mean no," Jace hissed, finally letting off some of his steam. "I can't leave her with him, I can't stop him from… I can't do that to her."
"Then I'm sorry."
Jace was about to ask what exactly Alec had to be sorry for, when he pulled out a Seraph blade and went straight for his head. It would have caught him off guard if he were normal, but he wasn't, and stopped the back end of the blade centimeters from his forehead. "What exactly were you planning on doing Alec? Knocking me out and locking me in some linen closet?"
Alec grunted at as he attempted to remain in control of his blade before muttering, "More or less. Jace I can't let you be a martyr, we don't need any more of that."
"I don't care what-" Jace was cut off by a hit to the back of the head, and fell forward, relinquishing his grip on Alec's angel blade. He could see dark spots at the edge of his vision, but remained conscious long enough to see a pair of stilettoed boots walking past his vison. Isabel.
Jace groaned, trying to stay awake, but no matter how hard he fought, unconsciousness rolled over him like an ocean tide and he passed out.
