Joe sighed, staring at the ceiling. After the night before he was on a tour bus heading to another venue or something like that.
When the twins were about six months old, and Lucy being a bit lonely without him, he brought her and the twins on the road with him for a month. That was a fun time for everyone, well mostly everyone but Lucy. She needed to be everywhere where the twins were. The only people that were allowed to take care of them were those closest to the couple.
"I can take them." Phil said. "You need a night to yourselves."
"Absolutely not," Lucy crossed her arms. "They need to be bottle fed and they wake up during the night."
"So? I've taken care of children before, Luce."
The way Lucy would scrunch up her face at the thought of something not going right always made Joe chuckle.
"How about we let Phil have them for about a few hours?" Joe suggested. "Just a few hours so you can sleep. I miss sleeping with you in my arms, Babygirl."
"Three hours. Kai and Kau need to be fed at two. When we arrive at the next rest stop, you have to give me my children back." She crossed her arms as she looked at the man known as CM Punk.
"You really think I would kidnap your kids?"
"You don't know what people are capable of." She told him before leaving with Joe, glancing over her shoulder at Phil as he was left with to car seats with two sleeping babies."
You don't know what people are capable of, Lucy's words slipped through his head as Joe stared at the bus ceiling.
Picking up his phone, Joe hoped that Lucy would agree to talk to him.
"Hello?" Lucy's voice said answering the phone.
"Lucy, Babygirl, its Joe." He closed his grey eyes as he heard her sigh. "I know I have totally messed up."
"I know. I mean, I could have told Phil no when I figured out about the whole thing."
"I kind of figured out why he did it in the first place. I saw how Kau has been behaving since then. She's talking more."
"She has."
Joe sighed, "Look, Lucy, I really am sorry for yelling at you. I mean, I was just scared. I didn't want my children to get hurt."
"I know. I guess I would have done the same thing. I worry about them all the time." Lucy stood up from the couch, looking at Sophia.
"Can I do anything to make it up to you, for yelling at you, for saying that it was your fault?" Joe actually choked up, fighting the tears that threatened to fall.
She took a deep breath and let out the breath against the speaker part of the phone. "I don't suppose you would mind bringing Kai, Kau and I on the road with you for a month or two. Phil suggested it, and I know you're not happy with Phil…"
"I think that is a better idea. When do you want to bring the kids out?"
"When Phil can go back to work, I guess that would be a good idea. He's a big help. He can wrangle Kai for me when I have to deal with Kau."
"How are things with you guys going?"
"Unca Pill was given a chair shot this morning with a Trua toy."
"Please tell me Kai was reprimanded for that."
"No, it was your daughter." Lucy moved into the kitchen to get a drink. "And apparently she thought it was okay because Daddy does it."
"How would she know what I do or don't do?"
"I have a feeling Grandpa Sikka is behind it." She smiled at the thought.
"My parents wouldn't let them watch wrestling." When Lucy didn't respond right away, Joe groaned. "Look, I'll talk to them."
"No, I'll do that, Joe. And I'm not angry about it, just concerned. Geez, it sounds like a lot of what everyone else is saying about me, isn't it? I mean come on, look at what happened with SeaWorld. And you want to know what they suggested to me?"
"What?"
"They suggest on taking Kau to see a specialist. If she is autistic, SeaWorld has programs to get children to open up, to have some therapy. Would she be working with the whales, I highly doubt it. Dolphins I can understand, but not the whales. I don't want a repeat of what happened with our last visit."
"I can't tell you how sorry I am for yelling at you, Lucy, Babygirl." And he really did sound like it, at least to her it did.
Sophia walked into the kitchen, looking at the auburn woman who was pouring a glass of orange juice for herself. She watched her friend's lips move, even from the side she could see what Lucy was saying.
"I hope we can patch this up, Joe. For the kids' sake, I want to be together because I love you. I don't want us to get into anymore fights, squabbles or anything like that. But specialists say that some fighting between couples is a good thing for a relationship."
"Have you been watching Dr. Phil again?"
She laughed as she replaced the orange juice into the fridge. "No. I read a lot though."
"Kay, Babygirl. I'll go check to see if I can bring you and the twins on the road. I'm sure they will love to see the Dynamic Duo Dorks and Trinity again."
"All right. I'll talk to you later. And tell Jon and Colby I send my love. Make sure that Nessa doesn't kill someone."
"I can't guarantee that, Lucy, but I can keep an eye open."
They said their good byes and then hung up. Joe sighed and looked back towards the ceiling, resting his head on his arms over his head.
From the bunk area of the bus, as Joe was getting ready to fall asleep he heard an almost female scream.
"Oh MY GOD!" Colby yelled in, well Joe wasn't sure what he heard.
He heard a series of thuds, followed by one very pissed of Jon Good and a scream from his girlfriend. Leaning forward, Joe looked out the open door to the lounge room on the bus and laughed at what he saw.
Jon and Nessa were all tangled up in the blankets, they were on the isle floor of the bus and it was obvious what they had been up to. Jon was obviously on top of Nessa, and with the blanket dangerously close to showing off Jon's ass, Joe decided to look away before he was permanently scarred for the rest of his life.
"Don't you know how to knock?" Nessa asked, a little on the tame side because Jon was swearing under his breath.
"Are you going to stand there staring at my girlfriend's boobs or are you going to turn away so we can get back into our bunk?" Jon finally asked, with gritted teeth.
"How the hell was I supposed to know you two were getting lucky?" Colby asked, turning away from the scene.
Quickly, as quickly as they could, Jon and Nessa scrambled back into their bunk, drawing the curtain closed.
"What did you want?" Jon asked from behind the curtain.
"I wanted to tell you something that I figured out. Sophia likes leaving me strange messages, the kind I have to figure out on my own."
"Yeah so? We all know that."
"Well this is what she sent with the phrase, I have this." He shoved his hand behind the curtain, holding out his phone.
Now Joe was interested.
"Is that, an ultrasound?" Nessa asked slowly, not quite sure of what she was really looking at. "Holy shit, that's an ultrasound."
"Wait," Joe appeared at the doorway to the lounge room. "Is Sophia pregnant?"
"Yeah."
"And you're the dad?" Jon poked his head out from behind the curtain.
"Are you calling my wife a skank?" Colby whipped his head around to look at Jon.
"Nah, man. I'm just surprised after all the nut shots you've been given you actually have any viable swimmers left."
"You must be getting smarter with all the chair shots to your head. Jon Good just used viable properly in a sentence."
"You want me to come after you buck ass naked, I can." He replied. "Let's see how the tabloids like that one."
"Then you'll be out on your bare ass by morning, after they have a look at your full moon."
"You know, you're going to have to talk properly when Lucy and the twins come on the road next month." Joe said causing Jon and Colby to turn to look at him. Nessa popped her head out from behind Jon's shoulder to look at him. "I'm going to get permission to bring them on the road after Punk's off injury."
"Shit, that's good man. I think you two need to work on the shit you've put Lucy through." Jon said.
"I second that." Nessa added. "I was one step away from ripping your balls off and throwing them in a field, but I knew Lucy wouldn't have appreciated that so much."
"Thanks for the vote of confidence, you three…"
"Hey, I haven't say anything against or for the situation. I'm trying to focus on the fact I am going to be a Daddy." Colby said excitedly.
"If you do a happy dance I'm going to pelt something at you." Jon threatened. "And you might not like what it is."
"Come on, Colb, we're just a bunch of downers. Lets give the love birds some peace and quiet. You should text your wife and I've got a football game on that I want to watch."
"It must be good to be single." Colby said. "Not that I am in a hurry to be single again because I love my girl."
Nessa reached up and pulled his brown and blonde dyed hair pulling it as he walked by. "You're just sad because we can have mind blowing sex any time we want."
"You three are so damn annoying. I don't know why I have to put up with you." Joe threw his free hand up in the air as he walked back into the lounge.
"Go on, Grandpa, take your vitamins and sleep off the side effects!" Nessa yelled as Colby walked into the room.
"I knew she was a hair puller but damn, the psycho blonde is really not someone I thought Jon would go for."
"I heard that Jackass!"
"Close the door. I need to talk to you about something." Joe said sitting back in the recliner he had been in.
And the mood just turned deathly, almost.
"What's going on man?" Colby asked, closing the door behind him.
"It's about the after effects of the SeaWorld incident with Kau. Vince wants me to release a statement. I don't know how to do it."
"Facebook, twitter, any of those would work. What does he want you to do?"
"Everyone thinks it is Lucy's fault. They are gunning to make her look bad. Even corporate thinks it. Also, they want to use this in a storyline."
"Fuck." Colby slumped into a nearby couch. "What are you going to do?"
"I have no damn idea. I don't know what to do."
Well, what do you think Joe should do. What kind of outcome do you think would happen with this whole issue that Joe and Lucy are going through? What are your thoughts and concerns for the couple?
I'm only asking because I'm sort of at a loss of what to do next.
Thanks for reading, everyone!
