I DO NOT OWN YU YU HAKUSHO

WARINING: it's going to be a long chapter.

I also noticed something else while i was looking back at my chapters I had spelled Cherumi's Nickname Cheri instead of Cherri. Sorry if i confused you it is spelled Cherri.

ON WITH THE STORY!

Chapter Eleven (A.K.A Episode 9)

"Come on Yusuke!" I said stopping and looking back at Yusuke, who was red faced and sweating like a pig.

"I'm tired Cherri!" He whined.

"Well, If you didn't skip school so much, you wouldn't miss gym and all the hiking trips we take." I said but I handed him a water bottle anyway. "Oh and all the gel you put in you hair is probably another reason."

"Cherri, I'm not going to stop putting gel in my hair." I pouted at him. He looked so much better without gel.

"How the hell did Botan convince me to do this and on a weekend too?" Yusuke asked himself.

(Cue flash back)

"Hold on, inflo what?" Yusuke asked. I sat next to Botan on the roof, calmly eating my lunch as the blue haired grim reaper explained Yusuke's next mission. I actually got Yusuke to attend class today!

"Infiltration. It's a sophisticated term for going under cover." Botan explained. I looked at Yusuke with a smile.

"Oh is Yusuke going to have to go in disguise too? I can help with that."

Yusuke quickly made an 'X' with his arms. " NO WAY! Last time I went to your house, your mother tried to put me in a dress!"

I put my hands on my hips. "She was missing some measurements for the plus size women."

"Oh, so I'm fat! Well you're one to talk thunder thighs!" He said crossing his arms and looking smug.

Botan gasped and put a hand to her chest. "Yusuke!" I leaned over and whispered into Botan's ear. I got up my head down so Yusuke wouldn't see my face and left.

"Where she going?" Yusuke asked. Botan only giggled and hid somewhere.**

Suddenly the door snapped open with a loud bang.

"YUSUKE!"

"Holy shit, she brought Keiko."

(10 minutes later)

"Cherri, I'm sorry I called you fat." Yusuke said while holding his red cheek and a water bottle up to his black eye. (A.N: Im guessing Keiko would do something like this if someone like Cherumi was called fat by Yusuke.)

"I forgive you." I said patting his head.

"Right, so about the mission where am I going? To the spirit world?" Yusuke asked sitting next to me and swiping one of my sandwiches.

"Nope! Your mission is here, on earth. There is an old human acquaintance of Koenma's and she is looking for someone to teach her powers to." Botan said "That certain someone is you."

Yusuke sighed. "Sounds boring. So who's the old lady?" I hit Yusuke on the head lightly. "Be nice." He stuck his tongue out, like a child, at me.

"That's right Yusuke. Her name is Genkai and she's one of the greatest psychics in the world."

I gave Yusuke a 'I told you so' look.

"Its been a long time since she had an apprentice." Botan continued " I guess she feels that her end is drawing near." I was about to take a bite of my sandwich but stopped short at that information.

"I heard that sometimes people like to leave stuff behind before they die." I said. Botan nodded her head.

"You're right Cherumi! It seems that Genkai wanted to leave her secret power."

"So you want me to learn the latest psychic powers instead of some other guy who might use them incorrectly, is that it?"

I looked at Yusuke with wide eyes. "I didn't know 'incorrectly' was in your vocabulary, Yusuke." I said with a hand on my chest.

"Why you!" I laughed as Yusuke started to ruffle my hair, trying to make it look like a bird's nest.

"This mission is going to be dangerous, Yusuke." Botan said capturing both our attentions. " The spirit world intelligence have informed me that an apparition by the name of Rando will be going after Genkai's technique."

Botan continued explaining about Rando a little more. I drifted off after that and continued eating the ret of my lunch or whatever Yusuke left of my lunch.

"There's a bonus when you finish this mission."

Yusuke looked at her with a raised eyebrow.

"You get a ticket to go to the main event for the world battle match at the Tokyo Dome!"

(End of flash back)

"She bribed you with a ticket." I said bluntly

"You don't need to remind me." Yusuke said with a grey cloud hanging over his head. I giggled a bit. Yusuke looked at me. "Why did you come with me?" I looked at him and placed a finger on my lip thinking.

"I want to see if Genkai can help me." I said with a smile.

"Your mom is going too flip when she finds out your gone."

I gave him another smile. "My family went to see my grandparents in Hokkaido so they won't be back for two weeks."Yusuke sighed. As we continued to walk we stopped at a long staircase made of stone.

"I think if we go to the top, well be at Genkai's temple." I said to Yusuke who seemed to be having a heart attack just by looking at the stairs. I sighed and started going up Yusuke following after me.

"See Yusuke it wasn't that bad." I told him while adjusting the backpack on my shoulder. He glared at me. I gave him a small smile.

"Look we have one more staircase to go." I said pointing to the staircase and all the way at the top rested Genkai's temple.

"Come on Cherri, I want to get this done so I can relax." I followed Yusuke as we made our way up the stairs once again.

I was surprised by how many people were here.

"Wow, I haven't seen this many freaks since that comic book convention." Yusuke said. I hit him over the head.

"You should respect people you don't know." I told him. He shot a glare at me while rubbing his head.

"Uremeshi!" We both turned our head to see a familiar orange haired boy. I gave him a bright smile as he came our way.

"Kuwabara!" Said excitedly. He blushed when he noticed me and rubbed the back of his head.

"Hey! What the heck is going on? What are you guys doing here."

"It's the same reason like everyone else here." I said. Kuwabara looked at me with concern on his face.

"Cherumi why are you here? A lady shouldn't be at these kind of things." I smiled at Kuwabara's kindness.

"I'm here if Yusuke get's hurt." I patted my bag in emphasis and showed him the red cross. Kuwabara nodded his head.

Kuwabara started to explain to us why he was here. I wasn't paying attention and started to look around. Hey! That guy looks like Zangief from Street Fighter! I continued to look around and noticed something important. Really important. I'm the only girl here, besides Genkai. I moved closer to Yusuke to avoid the stares the other men were giving me.

Everyone became quiet as they turned to face the temple. The doors opened and an elderly woman came out dressed in martial arts clothes and a purple cap rested on her head with a weird symbol on it. She had a nice shade of hair. It was a light pink.

"Wah! That little old hag is Genkai!" Yusuke exclaimed. I whacked him over the head with my bag.

"Yusuke!" I shot him a glare and he looked away stubbornly.

"Let's get started. Your first test will be.."

...

...

"The drawing of lots." Genkai said. Everyone fell to the floor eagle style. Some of them had an arm or leg in the air. I looked around at everyone, confused.

"That sounds fun." I said to Yusuke. Genkai continued to explain the rules of the first test. Everyone had to draw a piece of paper from a large vase that was placed next to her.

They formed a single file line. I waited in line with Yusuke and Kuwabara. Yusuke looked at me from the corner of his eye.

"Cherri? Are you going to take part in this?" I shook my head.

"Wait until we reach the vase." I told him.

Once we got there. I looked at Genkai. You can automatically tell that she was strong just by her posture. She stood with her back straight and not hunched like other elderly folk. Her eyes were fierce and wise. Yusuke's going to learn a lot from her.

I walked over to her. Yusuke started to freak whispering loudly to get back over there.

I bowed politely and gave her a smile. She seemed shocked by how polite I was but quickly masked it with a straight face.

"I am not here to take part in your test." I told her straight foreword. I gave her another bow in apology. "I'm only here for the safety of two of your...potential apprentices." I said. She stared at me hard.

"That is fine. You may stay by me as the test go on." She said. I gave her a bright smile.

"Thank you Ms. Genkai!" She gave me a small smirk and went back to watching the other contestants. I walked over to Yusuke, who looked shocked at me.

"I've never seen you look so serious." He said in awe. I gave a small laugh.

"It happens."

I walked back over to the small women and stood behind her. She explained more about the papers. If you got a red slip, you were in. If you got white you're out.

I looked around as everyone opened there slips of paper. I gave a sigh of relief as Yusuke and Kuwabara got red.

Genkai turned around but when she was about to leave two huge men. I blanched and took a step back. They were gigantic. They started yelling at Genkai, telling her that they were the strongest men and what not.

Genkai looked at them straight in the eye. "The only difference is that the bigger the man the louder they whine." That hit a nerve. Both of their faces looked absolutely scary. "Can't you blockheads see I'm trying to cave you from embarrassment."

I sighed. Oh Genkai you have a way with words. They both charged at her fist raised in the air.

"Genkai!" I yelled reaching out for her. What she did shocked me. She...Yelled at them. The flew across the front of the temple, their bodies hit the doors with a loud smack. I blinked at the scene then at her.

"Amazing." I whispered.

"All right, you red papers follow me!" She ordered. I followed right behind her looking back over my shoulder every now and then to see if Yusuke and Kuwabara were alright.

The room that we walked into surprised everyone. It was a game room! Every teenage boy's dream came to life. I stood to the far right away from the contestants. Genkai was in the air standing on a plat form to keep her from falling.

She explained that the games they are going to play are not normal games. The rock, paper, scissors game tests your spirit's waves, The punching game tests your spirits strength and The Karaoke machine tests your energy's ability to adapt and grow stronger.

"Hey Cherri come sing for me!" Yusuke said with a cheeky smile.

I smiled back at him "No." He pouted at me while Kuwabara laughed at him.

They first went toward the punching game. One of the guys went first and hit it with all his might. He only got 18 points. I felt a bit bad for him. Kuwabara went and scored 129.

"Yeah Kuwabara!" I yelled while clapping and giving him a smile. He blushed and rubbed the back of his head.

"I think the machine is broken, here let me try." Yusuke punched it and scored 155.

"I guess it wasn't broken." He said with a smug smirk, getting on Kuwabara's nerves once again.

"Alright Yusuke!" I yelled. I looked up at Genkai and saw that she had a smile on her face. She's impressed. I mentally cheered in my head.

Yusuke started to challenge Kuwabara, as always, and turned the test into a competition. Those boy's can't get along at all.

The test continued on until Genkai picked the top 20 strongest contenders were left. Which led them to their third test.

They had to get through a forest that was filled with demons. I my body shook at the aura that surrounded the area. I could feel their hunger.

"G-Genkai?" I stuttered looking at her with wide eyes.

"I am well aware of what you are, child." My eyes widened. I took a step toward her. I liked the air around her. It was calm and well-balanced. I looked over at Yusuke and he seemed to be hearing one of the contenders conversations.

"I'm not about to get scared of a little walk through grandma's forest." I quickly took off my shoe and threw it at him.

"Yusuke! What did I say!" I scolded, my hands on my hips.

"To behave." He muttered. I nodded my head and quickly took my shoe back, slipping it on.

Genkai did a count down and once she said 'Go!' they took off like no tomorrow. I turned to Genkai and bowed.

"I'm sorry about Yusuke." I said with a sheepish smile.

"You want to ask me something don't you?" I nodded my head.

"Let's go inside. We have 2 hours before they come back." I nodded my head again and followed her. Her temple was beautiful, it was almost as breath-taking as Hiei when he's fighting. We sat at a small table with nice chinese vase in the center. I placed my bag next to me and opened it placing out two food boxes. Genkai looked taken aback when placed one in front of her. I handed her some chopsticks and opened mine.

"When Yusuke and I started this trip, I decided that I would make lunch for everyone. I thought we were going to have two other people join us but I was wrong and had two extra boxes." I explained. "If you don't like it I could make you something else." I said quickly when she looked at it and not doing anything.

"No, it's quite alright." She said. " I haven't had someone make me homemade food in a long time." I smiled sweetly at her. She took a bite out of the sandwich and her face turned to one of surprise. "It's good."

I blushed and scratched my cheek. "Thank you."

"What was your question." She asked. I looked at her. I don't want to ask her about my powers just yet. I'll ask her once Yusuke is her apprentice.

"You already answered it." I said with a smile. She looked at me with a raised eyebrow. I gave her a small laugh.

"I was going to ask if you wanted to eat with me. Food taste better when you eat it with someone."

She said nothing and continued to eat. I think I saw a small tint of red to her cheeks. I must be imagining things.

"How the heck did you get here so fast, Cherumi?" Kuwabara panted when he saw me.

"Magic!" I said with a smile. Not really Genkai carried me here and we got here in twenty minutes with her speed. It was amazing.

Two other contestants came. One was bald and dressed in red clothes while the other had dark green hair and scars on his face. I looked at the forest with concern. Yusuke should've already been here. Something is not right. Genkai looked at her pocket watch and closed it with a snap.

"Times up." Was all she said. I looked at her with wide eyes and back out to the forest.

"Yusuke." I whispered. I closed my eyes. He's alright. I know he is.

"Wait for me!" I snapped my eyes oped and saw Yusuke running up the hill.

"You know, I'm reminded of fortune cookie I read that said the straight way is not always the fastest." Yusuke stated.

"I told you to listen to what a fortune cookie tells you." I said poking his nose. He huffed.

Genkai looked surprised. She told me the routes of the forest. Yusuke bumped into that bat demon named Moldak. He came out alive so that means he beat him. Thank God or Koenma.

"Yusuke you almost gave me a heart attack." I told him. I took out my bag and started to clean some of the cuts he got. I placed a band-aid on his cheek.

"There all better!"

"Stop acting like my mother." He mumbled, deep down I know he likes it when I baby him.

"Uremeshi! You went over the time limit!" Kuwbara yelled. Yusuke looked at Genkai with big eyes.

She smiled. "I'll make an exception." Kuwabara and Yusuke cheered and gave each other hugs.

"I knew you guy's liked each other." I said with a smile. They looked at me and noticed what they were doing and quickly let go of each other.

They started to yell at each other. I let out an irritated sigh.

WHACK

They both clutched their heads a red bump already forming.

"Why can't you guys just get along!" I scolded them.

Hopefully Yusuke didn't forget about Rando.
