'Meet me by the cafe, I'm dying to see you. F x'
'I'll be there shortly. L x'
Lindsey smiled down at her phone, the simplest of texts from Freddie bringing a massive smile to her face. It had been fair few weeks since they'd decided to make a go of things and they were closer than ever. She jumped up from her bed and shoved on her coat as she quickly fixed her hair. She then made her way downstairs and into the kitchen, grabbing her bag and getting stopped by her mum in the process.
"Where are you going?" Helen asked, crossing her arms.
"Oh, I'm just heading to meet a few uni friends. I'll be back soon, I promise." She said, making her way to the door.
"You make sure you are! Family meal tonight and I don't want you being late."
"Mum, I'm 20 and you don't need to remind me when to come home." She scoffed, quickly exiting the house.
Lindsey made her way through the streets of Essex and headed towards the café, stumbling slightly as Freddie pulled her around the corner and into the alleyway. Lindsey giggled and leant up, wrapping her arms around his neck as he wrapped his around her waist and pulled her into a passionate kiss, breaking apart reluctantly a minute later.
"I've missed you so much." Freddie whispered huskily.
"Missed me or just missed that?" Lindsey whispered back, discreetly biting her lip to stop herself from grinning.
"Bit of both I suppose." He joked, holding her close to him.
"Not the only one then." She smirked, kissing him softly again before pulling away a few seconds after. "Have you thought about when we're going to tell our families?"
"I was kinda leaving that down to you, I didn't want to rush you into anything and especially because it's not been long since you split up with Joe."
"We can't go on doing this, hiding down alleyways and being so secretive. I just want us to be able to move on and be together properly. I was thinking maybe we should get both our families together, maybe you could all come over to mine? And we can tell them together."
"I think that's a great idea but I'll only do it if you're sure you want to tell them."
"Of course I'm sure, we can just get it out in the open and not worry about this anymore."
"Right, let's do that then. I'll make sure everyone is there on time and we'll see you at yours. See you later."
"See you later!" She said, hugging him tightly before he walked away and Lindsey did the same, smiling to herself.
"We're all going to Lindsey's and none of you are getting out of it." Freddie said sternly, pulling on his leather jacket.
"Why do we have to go though? I've got better things to do." Joe mumbled, putting on his khaki jacket.
"What, like cheating on your girlfriends?"
"Now now, don't pick a fight!" Sandy proclaimed. "Why are we going? Is there a reason?"
"Lindsey's family are having a meal and she invited us all along." He stuttered, attempting to think of an excuse.
"But Lindsey hates me? Why would she want me there?" Joe voiced, shrugging.
"And we haven't seen her in weeks!" She said.
"Just get your stuff and get in the car. Robbie, Jason, go get your coats." He added as the twins ran out into the hallway and put on their coats without a bother. "I'll meet you outside." He grabbed his keys from the side and took Robbie and Jason, getting them into the car before climbing in himself.
"Mum, do I actually have to go to this?" Joe asked shoving his hands into his pockets.
"Yes love, you do. I don't really want to go but obviously Lindsey has something to say so come on." She put on her jacket and picked up her bag before grabbing Joe's arm and basically pulling him out of the house.
Later on that evening, the two families were all getting on well as they finished up their meal. Freddie and Lindsey had managed to sit beside each other and somehow keep their hands entwined underneath the table without anyone noticing.
"So, Linds, why are we really here?" Helen asked, looking at her daughter.
"Right, yeah. Me and Freddie have something to tell you all and we wanted to tell everyone at once." Lindsey said quietly, glancing over at Freddie who squeezed her hand and nodded. "We've decided to give us a go and get together, well, it's been this way for a couple of weeks but yeah."
"What?" Everyone said in unison, the twins looking up from their food and glancing around.
