Turles' scouter beeped rapidly as it recognized Bardock's energy approaching. He walked further down the ramp of his ship to meet his half brother. Bardock landed at the base of the ramp with haste and walked briskly up to Turles.
"Bardock, are you ready to go to the-
"How in the world is Broly that strong?"
Turles frowned, "I don't know what you mean by that."
Bardock frowned right back at him; his fist clenched. He was in no mood for anyone's games today. "You know exactly what I'm talking about! He has a power level of ten thousand; even elites don't have children that powerful at that age!"
Turles sighed and folded his arms, "If I tell you this, you cannot tell the others, they're not ready."
"What's going on, Turles?" Bardock was starting to get a bad feeling about this.
"When I found the boy as an infant, his power was already ten thousand."
Bardock's mouth gaped, that just wasn't possible. There was no way an infant had a power level that ranked up there with some of the saiyan's finest warriors.
Turles saw Bardock trying to process all of this so he decided to continue on.
"I obviously began training him as soon as he could walk but then I realized he had a lot more potential than I could ever imagine…maybe even too much potential." Turles ran his hand along the scar where his left eye used to be.
"What do you mean too much potential?"
The look Turles gave him almost made him flinch away. It wasn't angry but didn't look kind either; it looked almost fearful.
"If pushed far enough, Broly can achieve a power that rivals any of ours."
"Surely you can't be serious!"
Turles looked at him with a blank expression on his face, "Bardock, how many eyes do I have?"
"Uhhh…one…"
"What do you think happened to it?"
Bardock scratched the back of his head, obviously uncomfortable, "Broly did it?"
"Astounding guess, you must be a scholar on your spare time." Turles' voice was thick with sarcasm.
Bardock put his hands up in a surrendering gesture; he really didn't want to get on Turles' bad side yet. He could sense that Turles had gotten much stronger but he didn't know the exact limits; he was pretty sure that Turles suppressed his true power to an extent. The fact that Broly could even injure him like that was alarming in itself. A disturbing thought popped into his head. What if that kid is close to becoming a super saiyan…no, there's not way he could be one at this age. But what could be giving him this supposed power?
"How are you keeping him in check then?"
Turles motioned for him to follow him into the ship, Bardock followed; eager to find out his secret.
The inside of the ship almost pitch black minus a few scattered lights. The design seemed to be planet trade originally but it seemed like Turles had taken the liberty to hollow it out and rearrange how the hallways went. Instead being circular, the main hallway was in a straight line that assumedly leads to the bridge. There were various doors off to both sides of him but he wasn't sure where they lead to. Once they reached the bridge, Turles walked up the stairs to his command seat and pulled an object off it. It looked like a metallic gauntlet with a purple gem on the top of it.
Turles held it out so Bardock could see it better, "This is what I use to control the band on Broly's head. It represses the more intense side of his emotions so he stays relatively calm; doing so keeps his power level at ten thousand."
Bardock frowned, "But won't that inhibit his training? And how will you keep control if we're several light-years away on this mission?"
"Admittedly, it does hinder his training a bit but it doesn't shut him off completely. The headband activates its true repressing abilities when he gets worked up. I can keep tabs on his mental and physical state when I connect this gauntlet with my main computer."
Turles placed the gauntlet back onto the throne which now was revealed to have a port to connect to the gauntlet, "The main computer has a quantum entanglement processor that can send or receive signals at light speed; like a hologram transmitter."
Bardock nodded with semi-understanding of what he was talking about; he was no scientist after all. He suddenly felt drained; he hadn't slept since the previous day. Turles saw Bardock's eyelids drooping and pointed back towards the hallway, "Rooms are back in the hallway on the left side. Rejuvenation chambers and armory are on the right."
Bardock nodded silently as he made his way back towards the rooms, he needed to be well rested for the battle to come.
Bardock opened his eyes and looked around only to see that he was back on Planet Vegeta, but where was the ship? He took a harder look at his surroundings and gasped loudly, everything was in ruins. The cathedral was now a crater in the ground but there was a figure standing in it. Thick, black smoke hid the features but Bardock could tell the person was short. He tried sensing out the person but the energy felt strange; as if there were two energies mixing together and the weaker one seemed…fake. He shot out a kiai that blew the smoke away and saw that the figure was Broly.
Before Bardock could get a word out, Broly lashed out with a punch that Bardock just barely blocked in time. Bardock activated his aura and flung Broly away.
"Broly, what the hell are you doing?!"
Broly growled and began powering up. A sickly green aura began to appear around him as the ground began to shake. Bardock looked on in alarm as his power quickly surpassed his own and it didn't seem to be stopping its ascent. I need to transform now!
Bardock went into the depths of his mind and tried to start his transformation but found that he couldn't. It's like it wasn't even there anymore. Broly's power was now rivaling that of Cooler's Armored Squadron. If I don't escape now, he'll kill me instantly!
Bardock took off into the air and flew as fast as he could. His heart was racing and he was sweating like crazy. None of this made any sense at all. He stopped when he saw Turles in front of him; for some reason though he wasn't facing him. He grabbed Turles by the shoulder but when he turned around it was Cooler. Bardock yelped and jumped back as Cooler fired a purple energy beam right into his face.
Bardock sat up from his cot with a yell. Still hyperventilating, he checked his body for damages. No burns or anything…was that a vision?
It would make sense; it seemed almost too vivid to be a dream. He looked at the pool of sweat on the cot; his body always went into overdrive when he got hit with a vision. He hadn't made much progress with controlling his psychic abilities but in the past five years, he really hadn't had any major visions. Somewhere in Hell, that Kanassan was laughing at him with that mocking laugh of his.
A sharp pang in the back of Bardock's head made him turn towards the wall. Vegeta's power level is stronger than before, even stronger than his own base form. Doore really did do a number on him, that kick looked like it shattered most of his ribs. He shook his head; you'd think that the Planet Trade would take the saiyans' zenkais more seriously but then again most saiyans die in battle before they see the true results of a zenkai. Also the intensity of the battle determines how large of a zenkai one gets. If a saiyan suffers damage that they had not suffered before or is close to death, the zenkai is bigger.
Bardock grinned, he know had a goal of sorts to work for. He wasn't going to transform at all on this mission unless he desperately needed too. If he was lucky, maybe his base form would get to the point where he could mop the floor with the likes of the Armored Squadron or maybe even Cooler himself. Seeing no point in going back to sleep, he started doing push ups. He figured he might as well get his blood flowing now; they couldn't be too far away from their target soon.
In the med bay, a metallic voice rang out, "Healing sequence complete. Now beginning awakening procedure."
Nappa grumbled as he woke up, he was having the greatest dream about crushing Cooler with his bare hands. He saw that Vegeta's chamber was now glowing with a faint orange-red light. Finally, he should be waking up pretty soon.
Nappa walked over to one of the cots and set out some spare armor and clothing that Turles had in one of the cabinets. Doore's kick shattered his original armor so Vegeta would have to bear with this older grade armor until they could get more. Nappa eyed the armor with mild humor; Vegeta would be pissed to see it. The main part of the torso piece was an ugly shade of a faded green, the gloves, shoulder/groin guards and boots were a rusted orange color and the body suit was a dark blue. It was as if the manufacturer chose this color scheme as a joke. His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the top lifting off the rejuvenation chamber.
Vegeta's eyes popped open as he took off the respirator off his face. Even though he was only a teenager, his body was in prime physical condition; even for a saiyan. As he rose out of the chamber, Nappa saluted him. "How do you feel, my lord?"
Vegeta flexed his arms a bit and then charged some energy into his right hand. The lavender colored ki flashed to life in his palm as Nappa shielded his eyes. Seemingly satisfied at this display, Vegeta let the energy dissipate from his hand. A smirk slowly crept onto his face, "Just great, Nappa. Where are my clothes?"
Nappa scratched the back of his head nervously as he moved aside to let the King view his wardrobe. He saw his smirk drop instantly.
"You have got to be kidding me." Vegeta muttered.
Once they were all on the bridge, Turles pulled up a holographic display of the planet they were going to be attacking. "Its name is Rigel 7," Turles started, "It has a population of six-hundred million. Their pro-Planet Trade government was taken over by a faction of radicals a few years ago, thus making it hard to trade there. They have very advanced weaponry that lets them damage foes five times their strength."
"Like the Tuffles." Vegeta now had more of a reason to kill these people; he would finally get to experience what his original namesake went through to put Vegeta under saiyan rule.
"Yes, like the Tuffles but they seem even more advanced than them so stay sharp."
Turles pointed at a moon that orbited the planet. "I don't want this ship being a target so I'm landing it on the moon with Cacao guarding it. We're going to land at various locations on the planet via space pods. We are to target the hubs of their new leadership. Bardock you'll take the north, Vegeta and Nappa will take the main city and I'll take the south. Keep a scouter on you so we can communicate if necessary."
Vegeta smirked in excitement; it had been so long since he had spilt blood. Nappa pounded his fist together, "Alright! Right in the thick of it, just the way I like it!"
Bardock could sense that even Turles was excited about this. He wasn't exactly sure how he knew but he could just feel it coming off him; he just assumed it was his psychic powers manifesting in mysterious ways again. The four saiyans made their way towards their space pods; they had quite the day in store for them.
Rigel 7 was densely populated for being a smaller planet. From orbit you could see that it was mostly urbanized with cities and factories in the central part of the planet. In the far north and south there were many amazing natural features though. There wasn't much pollution though; they stopped using fossil fuels centuries ago. This planet would fetch a very high price on the Planet Trade market. Bardock closed his eyes as he mentally prepared himself for real battle, it had been years since he had actually fought to kill. His pod's computer told him that he would be landing shortly. He braced himself as his pod slammed into a large mass of ice. All the bones in his body rattled from the impact. I always hated that part of landing. Why don't we make pods that just hover before landing?
He opened his pod and stepped out to observe his surroundings. There was nothing but ice for miles around. The water was so clear; he could see his reflection in it perfectly. His skin screamed as the cold air blew right through him. Planet Vegeta was a mostly arid, mountainous planet; there was nowhere on his planet that was this cold. Bardock activated his aura to warm himself up. This will definitely take some getting used to.
His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of vehicles approaching. He looked above him and saw that he was surrounded by squad of hovercrafts. One of the soldiers popped his head out; they were a humanoid species from what he could see. The man was wearing what looked like a scouter. "What are you doing here? This is a restricted area, leave immediately!"
Bardock ignored all the weapons trained on him and spoke, "This planet will be apprehended by Lord Cooler of the Planet Trade Organization. Surrender now or face annihilation."
The soldier gaped, "You have some nerve coming here with that! We executed the last PTO supporter in charge of our government, you'll be no different!"
The hovercraft he was in opened fire. The lasers had a power equal to a low level saiyan; probably about two thousand. Bardock simply deflected them with his left hand and fired a blast from his right. The hovercraft lit up briefly before exploding in a blue light. The other Rigelans gasped and began firing as well. Bardock leaped into the air, grabbed one of the hovercrafts and threw it into one of the others. He then charged up his aura and released an energy shockwave that disintegrated all but on hovercraft. The Rigelan inside jumped and got into a combat stance; his armor was silver and green and he had a mop of brown hair.
"You don't know what you're getting into, those soldiers you killed were only scouts; the weakest of us. We underestimated you at first but that won't happen again!"
He pressed a button on his wrist, "Now the entire base knows you're coming and they'll alert the others. You're not escaping this planet alive!"
He rushed at Bardock who blocked his fist and launched a kick at him. The kick winged his side but he launched a blast out of the gauntlet on his other arm. Bardock's senses told him to dodge this one. The blast flew past his head as he punched the soldier right in the head. The force from the punch shattered his skull and he dropped like a sack of rocks. Bardock pressed the send button on his scouter, "Met the welcome committee, probably more where that came from."
He waited a few seconds and then got a response, "Still quiet on my side, approaching the facility soon however. No word from Nappa and Vegeta yet."
"Roger that, I'll be approaching this facility soon."
Bardock lifted into the air and flew towards the large sum of energy located north of him.
Two space pods crashed into a vacant lot in the center of the city. Smoke covered the top of the crater like a protective shield over the pods. Soldiers ran up and surrounded the crater with their weapons raised. A chuckle was heard from the smoke, "Well would you look at that, my King! They sent a group to welcome us to the city!"
"I am honored! How about we show them how saiyans say hello?"
The surrounding area near the lot was destroyed by a large explosion.
Just realized that it has been a year since I started this fic (well technically it was the 18th but sue me why don't ya!). I want to thank everyone who has stuck with me and have been patient with my updates! I truly do enjoy writing this fic and while it will probably never be as big as some of them, I want to give the readers a good experience none the less. Like I've said before, regardless of the reviews or attention given, I will finish this fic. I won't let it go unfinished.
I hope everyone caught onto the nods to the ocean dub's infamous mistranslated dialogue that they had Vegeta say to Goku. As he was generating the blutz wave ball/fake moon he told Goku that his father (Bardock) created the technique after they ran into "radical weaponry on Rigel 7". He also said that Goku's father was an average father but a brilliant scientist.
I also want to bring up the fact that some people have asked me about Goku and Raditz's mother, Gine. She will not be appearing in this fan fiction besides maybe a flashback or two from Bardock's POV. I had started this fic before her character was announced and there was no real way to put her in at that point. Had I made this fic a few months later, she might have been added.
Someone else asked me why Bardock couldn't go SSJ4 since he had a tail and he's a super saiyan. In my opinion, the person needs to be exposed to an excess amount of blutz waves along with being significantly stronger than Bardock was at that point in time. I think a saiyan would have to have at least a mastery of the SSJ form to be able to transform into the golden oozaru in the given conditions. Plus Bardock transforming into a SSJ4 after just discovering the SSJ transformation would be overkill in my opinion.
Anyways stay tuned for the next update! There will be much more combat to come!
